I never write reviews and have been watching MKBHD for years, so I’m just really shocked at how bad this is. Why would I pay $50 a year for some wallpapers when I can find great ones free anywhere. Also, it’s a very hypocritical to ask people to buy a subscription based on what might be coming up later in the year when you’ve just spent the last couple months bashing products like those AI pins that do exactly the same thing. I’m just not sure how nobody in your company told you this was a bad idea, or maybe they did and you didn’t listen. I understand that everyone makes mistakes, and I certainly have made my fair share, but one of the most important things when you do make a mistake is to own it and do better. So far, I haven’t seen any response that indicates that you are owning this. I really hope you do soon. I’m actually rooting for you to come out of this, but you can’t just let this sit. The community is not going to let this go, unfortunately. Good luck!

A 50/50 revenue split for the artist is absolutely appalling. This mediocre and overpriced app could not exist with the work of the artists that make the wallpapers and to take advantage of them in this way is truly disgusting. For being an app made by a creator I would’ve expected less predatory pricing for the artists that made this colossal fail of project possible, they are the only thing that makes this a product and the only part of this worth supporting. Support them directly not through this malicious,predatory, sad, and otherwise unremarkable exploit. I’d feel less as if the users weren’t being fleeced as well but $50/year for HD versions of the wallpapers is untenable when the profits aren’t going to the creators of the art and the free experience is deliberately painful to use (1 min of ads for a standard definition auto-cropped downscaled image). Do not spend money on this and do not support MKBHD. Failure, complete and utter failure.

Panels is literally just scrolling through wallpapers—there’s nothing engaging about it. It's boring and feels like a waste of time. The fact that they want you to pay a subscription for wallpapers is outrageous. Seriously, who’s changing their wallpaper every afternoon? And the so-called 'good' wallpapers aren’t even that good. Why would anyone pay for something like this when you can just go to Pinterest and find better options for free?

To make things worse, you have to watch a 1-minute ad just to download an SD-quality wallpaper. Who would ever do that? It feels like the developers are more interested in grabbing money than actually making a decent app. If you want people to buy your subscription, use some common sense and improve the quality of the app instead of trying to sell mediocre wallpapers. Save your time and money, just use Pinterest instead.
