Favorites and car mode still needs refinement. Bug found.

Thanks for recent update to make favorites link on front page. But favorites needs to function the same way as when your in car mode and auto play whenever you tap on a favorite. Then when your playing a favorite station, you should be able to scroll up/down through you favorites and auto play each station. There should be a option for car mode that you can turn it off and on permanently, so that if you want to remain in car mode it will be your choice. There should be an option to make favorites your front page permanently if you would like. Then favorites would always be the first thing that you see when you open AudialsPlay (this is what people want). Lastly, there seems to be a bug with this new version so that your not able to pause from your car stereo while using car play and also mostly not working when you try to start playing a station again from your car stereo after stopping the station manually. Bug is so bad with car play it forces me to use native app for whatever radio station I’m playing instead of Audials.

Just installed and am very impressed.

I usually use Tunein and iHeart radio apps but, this Audials app has everything that they do and the ability to record what I want as well which makes this a superior app as far as I’m concerned. It also has the podcasts that I’m interested in and it even details the stream quality of every station on the list. You can schedule an alarm to play a station at a certain time as well. AudialsPlay is apparently free so you have nothing to lose by installing and trying it out. I did notice one thing. If a small local station doesn’t show up on the list you can search for the radio station call sign letters and it will pop up and you can add it to your favorites.

Internet radio app

Great app. Was looking for a hassle free internet radio app for a while and found this in a list somewhere. Free, ad free, good stuff. A few minor bugs--pausing AudialsPlay via my AirPods works fine, and restarting the music via them is fine sometimes, but occasionally AudialsPlay needs to be viewed to begin playback after a pause, and more rarely, the entire app must be restarted to end an endless cosmetically annoying attempt to buffer or something (though this is purely cosmetic). Fix the bugs and AudialsPlay is exactly what you want. I put AudialsPlay on my home screen with the intention of using it permanently, hope the bug fixes continue. I appreciate the bug fix reports.

Almost perfect

AudialsPlay has just about everything you need for listening to internet radio, and has the ability to record which is a huge plus. I also like the fact you have a lot of freedom to set up things as you want, some apps now tend to break way too much toward curation.

One feature that would be nice to have is the ability to pause streaming radio (like if you were receiving a phone call) and have the stream keep going to the buffer so it resumes from that same spot when the call ends. That way you don’t miss anything if you receive a call while listening. There are a few apps that do this, and it is really useful if you are listening to the news, sports, or any kind of talk radio.

Very good steaming app

AudialsPlay caches a huge amount of data. It seems to require deleting and reinstalling AudialsPlay to reduce the storage used. There needs to be an easy way to clean old storage.

AudialsPlay has good search tools and seems to know just about every available streaming source. Over all AudialsPlay is well designed and flexible. I consider it one of my must-have apps. The February 2022 update simplified the user interface. Apple rules apparently required disabling caching previously played songs in the stream and being able to go back and replay or save the songs. I would like to see the feature return.

Excellent for streaming radio stations

This is an excellent app for streaming internet radio stations. It has numerous stations and displays song titles and album/artist art for most of them. It is both easy and fun to use. It's also great for music discovery in that it is very good at recommending similar stations playing the genre you are interested in. This may not be the best app for streaming terrestrial stations as it does not seem to offer too many of them. However, if you are a fan of internet radio, I definitely think it is one of the best out there. Try it. If you're like me, it just might end up becoming your favorite.

AWESOME Alternative To TuneIn

You can record station segments on AudialsPlay, which is something TuneIn no longer allows you to do. Another thing that’s great about AudialsPlay is that it tracks in real-time what is playing on most stations. So, if you favorite a bunch of stations, you can scroll across the main interface to find out who’s playing what! And of course, the only ads you’ll find on AudialsPlay are from the stations themselves. I’m glad I discovered AudialsPlay, more people should download it!

Has some issues

So far the best internet radio app I found. I also use their windows program. Has the best recovery from bad cell connections hands down. Sometimes it goes into a spinning frenzy just spinning and flashing the screen until you shut it down. Why all these internet apps play with the clock on my radio is beyond me do I really need to see counters? Is there some money stream I am missing? At least when cell signal goes low it does recover the best on its own. All the others need to be closed and reopened. AOL radio actually puts up a dialog you need to click ok for connection lost. Really it's a cell signal everyone knows they don't drop NOT!

Mr.

This is a perfect showcase of what ALL radios should be! You can select your station on a global scale based on YOUR PREFERENCE, save it to a favorites list and even record from them to listen to if you don't like what you are hearing or use it as the sound of an alarm. A+++++ in my book. I can't find a way to mess this up, unless I have no signal, in that case I just listen to my recorded ones. Very well thought out, programmed and tested.

Good app

It’s almost impossible to find an app you can record radio shows on so this was a welcome find.

There is one thing I hate about it though, is it doesn’t let you fast forward. I had to start recording my program 10 minutes early and there is no way to fast forward to the program I wanted to listen to. This makes it frustrating to even want to use AudialsPlay . You also can’t fast forward through commercials.

I was going to erase a star because it’s only worth 3.

Decent app with a flaw

Update: the developer responded very quickly to my review and provided a clarification. AudialsPlay itself does not run ads, though stations run their own ads. It sounded to me like the ads were run by AudialsPlay , and it can be hard to hear the difference, but I do believe the developer.

Pretty good radio app.
And they offer a lot of podcasts, *but* I can’t save my place in any podcast episode, nor can I bookmark a podcast. I can only bookmark an episode. It’s pretty inconvenient, especially not being able to remember where I left off in an episode.

Good, but could easily be great

This the only app I can find that will record, so I’m stuck using it. Therefore I’ll try to get two issues fixed to make AudialsPlay perfect. The first issue is after I continuously record for a while, I tap the red stop button to stop the recording, and a file shows up with 0:00 amount of time recorded. This happens once out of three or four recordings. The second issue which I can live with if not fixed is advancing the recording. There needs to be time showing how much has played and how much is left.

Thank you

The Best Media App

AudialsPlay is the best, absolutely for listening and recording. Unlike TuneIn, it does not request a subscription for any service like professional sports. If it streams, you can listen or watch. If you want the pro version of Audials, you pay for it one time, not fir a monthly subscription that, to me, is inane and that, I hope, fails as a business model. Summary: TuneIn is good, Audials is best.

Big fan of the recording feature

AudialsPlay became a necessity once the recording feature on the Tunein app was removed. But, I really really wish the playback feature was better. I wish it remembered where you left on and I wish it had time stamps. AudialsPlay would take over if it added that. Also think the layout could use some help but I don’t care as much about that

Many updates, major issue still not fixed:-(

There have been many updates, but AudialsPlay still fails to resume playing radio stations after the playback was interrupted by another app/event, for instance an alarm. Even, if you go to AudialsPlay and try to resume the playback, it doesn't work. It looks like the station is loading indefinitely. If you select another radio station, it also doesn't play. So you just have to kill AudialsPlay and start AudialsPlay again to be able to play the radio.

It's been more then a year, many updates but still no fix.
I suspect that AudialsPlay doesn't properly reinitiate/reset the connection to the audio API after another app took over.
Could you please check and fix that? Otherwise, it would be a great app, but this completely kills the user experience:-(

Thanks!

Best Free Radio Recorder

It has lots of great settings. The only free app that lets me record my local radio station without charging me. Audials has saved me lots of money since I don’t need to use cell phone data to get local news now.

Needs a timer for recording

Now that Tune-In radio no longer allows for recording of live radio programs for later listening, I am testing AudialsPlay out. So far I notice it allows recording but there is no way to set up AudialsPlay to begin recording and then stop recording at a particular time of day. This would make AudialsPlay so much more useful for the reason I would use it.

Great radio app

This is one of the best radio apps I have found for use in my car (Mazda). I appreciate that it tends to recover better from cell signal drops than most apps I have tried. A couple suggestions: provide a way to leave it in car mode between uses and maybe an adjustable buffer setting to help with continuing music during signal drops. Love AudialsPlay !

This app is a keeper!

I don’t give 5 stars easily, but AudialsPlay richly deserves them because it is easy to use and does all that I want. I have installed and uninstalled many a radio app in search for what I needed. My quest is over. I am happy now. Please don’t change anything.

Recent update wrecks album art

Album photo is now tiny and, on some stations, covered almost completely by a station emblem. To some, a minor complaint, but I like to see the album

My favorite app for streaming radio

AudialsPlay works well for its purpose. My favorite functions include the ability to search stations by artist and to know the bitrate of the stream up front. I also like the fact that the next button takes you to your next favorited station. This works wonderfully when driving because it feels like you’re flipping through stations like in the radio—especially if your car allows you to use your steering wheel to cycle through tracks/stations.

The interface isn’t as pretty as TuneIn, but there are no ads and it’s free so no complaints there. If I had a wishlist item, though, it would be to the ability to Chromecast. The lack of this is the only reason I have to switch back to TuneIn occasionally.

This is a great app that is extremely functional. Also love the fact that I can access my streams through a browser when using a computer.

Needs Scheduled Timer Recording Ability

AudialsPlay is great for finding and recording stations. As soon as you can add ability to add schedule timer recordings for specific stations determined by the user, I’ll award a fifth star. That is the only thing missing.

Fantastic app intuitive.

The latest iOS version appears to have a bug recording in song mode. It says it is recording but nothing is saved.

Otherwise AudialsPlay is fantastic.

Getting better and better!

Grrrreat app!

Functioning perfectly for long time and has all the stations that I've found randomly elsewhere - proving the description promises. Keep up with your great work!

THANK YOU!

Wonderful App

This is exactly what I was looking for. It's easier to use than the radio on iTunes. Since I got it installed I've been keeping music on in the background when I use my iPad. Highly recommended!

Why am I hearing TuneIn ads?

Am relatively new to Audials and have been loving it.

Update: Thank you for the explanation and link. Am still annoyed, but not at Audials and no longer fearing they bought out the competition! Thank you for the Test Flight invitation.
