I'm new to blackjack and would be happy to pay to upgrade but a major issue prevents me.

Blackjack21 rarely explains why a choice is wrong, only states that it's wrong. I'd learn more and faster if Blackjack21 tells me why my choice is wrong. For example if my hand totals 16 sometimes it states "WRONG you never hit in this situation" and other times "CORRECT you always hit in this situation". I assume the difference is what the dealer has, but I don't know, it doesn't explain.

If there is more info shown after paying to upgrade, this is not stated anywhere, otherwise I'd pay for this info.

Also Blackjack21 does not work in landscape mode, not a major issue but if you're used to always using your iPad in landscape mode as many are, annoying. In fact if the game were landscape, there would be enough room for the advisory text missing in issue #1 😬

I hope this is useful feedback, I'd love Blackjack21 to be more useful to beginners like me, I think it has the potential to be huge as there's nothing else like it.

I’d really like this game if it used a standard H17 chart, but there are a few key differences.

For example, it tells you to double down on hard total 9 when the dealer has 2. It also tells you to double down on soft 14 (Ace and 3) when the dealer has 3. As opposed to a standard chart which would tell you to Hit.

This might seem like a small nitpick but Blackjack strategy has to be 100% perfect not 99% perfect!! Especially if you plan on actually gambling.

This is what I was looking for. Blackjack21 tells you when you made a wrong move and tells you what you should have done. However it does not provide clear explanation why, especially on hands that are based off of what the dealer has. Your left to figure out why it was wrong on your own. It’d also be nice to have a beginners tutorial on splits, double down etc. I also wouldn’t mind finishing the hand.

Very easy to use trainer that tells you what the wrong and right moves are for each hand. But that’s literally it. There’s no information if you want to know WHY to make a particular move. It’s just either “you’re right” or “you’re wrong”. I would appreciate a little more context. I think if we know exactly why something is right or wrong, it will help us learn it quicker.

Why would you split 2s with a Dealer 6? I have no idea. But this is an example of the questions I had while using Blackjack21. They mention you should split on a pair of 2s but offer no explanation.

Why would I split a crappy hand? Is the winning probability better when you have a pair of cards worth less than a dealer bust card? The world may never know…

I’m rating this a 3/5 because of the lack of explanation on the moves. I’m trying to get better.. so do a better job explaining!

Two things keep Blackjack21 from being great:

As others have suggested, it should give you more info than just correct or incorrect, it should tell you what the right move would have been, and maybe even why. It’d be cool to be able to jump to the strategy sheet with the particular scenario highlighted

Also, it should tailor the tests based on how you’ve done in the past. If I always correctly choose split on A,A and 8,8, no need to keep showing me those. If I’m constantly getting 4,4 wrong, show me ore of those

I really like using this tool and it has helped me a lot. Unfortunately it can be pretty glitchy. If I use Blackjack21 for more than 10-20 minutes, it normally freezes and I have to close it and reopen it. Also, there are times when it will say you used the wrong strategy but the explanation will contradict itself (i.e. the explanation says you made the right move but you’ll receive an “x” indicating you made the wrong call). There are also times when the “correct” answer given by Blackjack21 during training does not match what is on Blackjack21 ’s strategy card (i.e. the strategy card will say that you should hit, but that answer will be counted wrong when you use it during training). The stats are either not accurate or just not updating from the first time I used Blackjack21 . Overall, good tool. Just needs some fixes

This is a great app for practice. Love it and I get to work on my soft hands the problem is I got one wrong on soft 14 you do not double on 4 as I understand but rather hit. I double checked and most black jack trainers agree with this basic strategy. Also would like it to go more in depth in terms of allowing us to continue to play the hand as if in real life.

Absolutely love Blackjack21 for basic strategy and will probably purchase it once these bugs are fixed. I download it yesterday and Blackjack21 doesn’t fill the screen it cuts off on each side on IPhone. This is on every screen, so my highest score I can’t see, except when I earned it. My % correct I can’t see. Also the weakest hands screen is great to understand where you are struggling but it’s not 100% accurate with its calculations, but still after a 1000 hands it has done pretty well. My highest score so far is 169. Something I would love to see in the next update is your score after each run. For me to know how many I got correct I have to keep count, and since my high score is so high it’s hard to know how close I came to beating it, if I don’t have a constant this is how many you got correct in a row. *Please add this functionality, it would greatly improve Blackjack21 *

Follows basic strategy around 95%~ of the time, but sometimes it’s just wrong. Every chart I’ve studied says to split 4s when showing 5 or 6, but app tells me I should have hit. Also messes up sometimes saying I should hit on K+5 (obvious) but should have stayed on Q+5 with dealers 7. Overall, it’s a nice trainer, but going for those high scores is impossible when sometimes it’s just wrong.

This is an excellent way to make sure you know your tables, but the strategy table used in Blackjack21 is different than all the others I’ve seen. Most tables say to hit on a soft 14 when dealer shows a 4, but this says to double. The other case is that most say to hit on a hard 9 when dealer shows 2, but this says to double. These seem like very minor things but it’ll throw you off if you know a different chart. Otherwise Blackjack21 is a great trainer for the game.

1) Blackjack21 needs to have the ability to go beyond the initial cards dealt. For example, if you choose correctly, it deals the next card and lets you choose again. If you choose wrong, then you have to choose again. The counting stats would then need to reflect all your correct or incorrect choices.
2) If it had the math behind each choice (ex if you hit 12 vs a dealer showing a 2 what’s the percentage you would win the hand) that would be helpful.

Blackjack21 helped me learn about blackjack just like it was intended. I have improved a lot since I first got Blackjack21 .

The only thing I wish Blackjack21 would allow you to do is, to reset your weakest hand chart.

For example, I’ve learned what to do with an A,5 hand since I got Blackjack21 . I get it almost every time now but it still says it’s my weakest hand.

The tables don’t seem to update when I change strategy so I can’t reference them for studying. Further, it told me splitting 8s against a high card is bad strategy when literally every other resource tells me to split. They need to test Blackjack21 more and correct their mistakes.

Great app for practicing blackjack hands! But there can be so much more.

1. Would love to see continuation on some of the hands (ei. After a split on 6,6 vs 6. There’s still more decisions to be made).

2. It will also be helpful to see when the deck finishes and shuffles (varying from the size of the deck). Plus, an option to keep a live count and it’s different styles. (Hi-lo, Wong, ko, zen, etc)

3. Be able to play multiple hands (up to 7). And lastly, a betting option. With multiple player profiles so one can use them individually for its different purpose of the practice. And see each stack progress.

Absolutely fabulous app. Worth the money for the pro version that you can practice Pairs and Soft Hands which are crucial in making the right decisions to turn a profit over the long haul. I'm now up to 657 correct decisions in a row. The one I missed was doubling a 9 vs 2. It's the correct play in double deck dealer standing on soft 17, but not 6 deck hitting soft 17. This trainer has improved my game beyond words.

This game just gives you scenarios and asks what you should do. No betting. Don’t even get to see the result of your decision- just if it was statistically the right one to make.
Here’s what the dealer is showing, here are your two cards. Split / Double / Hit / stand / surrender. And you’re either right or wrong.
The brilliance of this game is that it’s so simple, so straightforward, and you don’t have to worry about Blackjack21 cheating yo get you to buy more chips… it’s just fantastic at what it does.

Probably the best app for BJ I’ve used, very easy interface, I would rather purchase app outright than pay via subscription. I’d buy it if it was purchase vs subscription service. Doesn’t make sense, at least for me anyways. But definitely a great app!!!!

I accidentally paid for a month of the subscription and they gave me a full refund and it wasn’t one those refunds that took like 2-5 business months I like Blackjack21 and the people who made it I appreciate you’re work

Using this and a cheat on the plane ride to Vegas I managed to score big. I knew when to stand, hit, double down, split — and cleaned up. When you hit or stay and it’s wrong Blackjack21 tells you why it’s a bad idea instead of just saying it’s wrong.

Couldn’t be much better.
