If Etermax were smart, they would restore the original app and release this "update" as the completely different game that it is. The people who like the old Word Crack are an entirely different demographic from the people who might like the new one. Why choose to lose half (or more) of your existing players instead of keeping all of them and also gaining downloads of a separate new app?
The March 1, 2020 update completely bricked WordCrackMix2 . I get the opening "etermax" screen and then the whole thing abruptly crashes and closes. I'm far from the only unhappy player. Before the update Word Crack had 1,620 reviews and nearly a 5 star average. As of 3/7, there have been 250 new reviews since the update and they're all extremely negative. Some can't open WordCrackMix2 at all, but most can, and they all hate it.
My husband and I had enjoyed challenging each other in head-to-head rounds for years. Word Crack was one of our go-tos for quality time. The game was straightforward, challenging and lots of fun. From WordCrackMix2 's own description of the update and the new screenshots, plus the post-update reviews, the replacement game (I wouldn't call such extensive changes an update) sounds absolutely horrible. If I could even play it. I've deleted and reinstalled many times, including after the 3/5 update, and still nothing. I have almost zero hope that it will return to a function app as enjoyable as the original. I may keep checking periodically, but I won't hold my breath.

I’ve played this game for years as an enjoyable, stimulating “time waster” when i have a free moment or am waiting on something, and have logged thousands of enjoyable games. I’m uninstalling after writing this review and not ever thinking about this game again.

After installing the recent updates, this game is totally different and is now absolutely awful; it now inserts ads for garbage at every opportunity and added a bunch of pay to win mechanics. Its no longer about finding words - now its about seeing which player can suffer through the most ads. Didn’t find enough words? Just watch some ads to make up for it.

I understand that free apps need revenue and to some degree this is how the market works, but the changes are so over-the-top and jarring that it can’t be anything other than a shameless cash-grab by the publisher as they run this game into the ground and squeeze every penny from their userbase using all the worst aspects of today’s mobile game scene. All good things come to an end, and this game’s time has come.

The new version is a mess. The constant ads glitch the game. So at the end of every round you have to watch the ad, then when it finishes, nothing happens. It doesn't return to the active game. So you have to close the game and go back into it. Every time you close the game it seems to forfeit your winnings. I've won multiple rounds and multiple games and have not received any of the coins from winnings that it shows. Also it doesn't show your or the opponent's word count per round anymore...Just who won the round based on the points. With so many power ups available now, it would be nice to see who actually had the most words per round like the old version showed. This version needs a lot of work.

The redesign of word crack is totally not worth it. I liked the older version, and was going to remove the ads. This new version is a total annoyance. Used to play the older version and enjoyed. This one if it loads, is self annoying, and you can count on it shutting down( crashing) or pausing where there is no way of making the game work. So I am forced to shut down iPad and restarting to be able to do anything. Very disappointed with it and most probably going to be holding finger on app icon and using the delete option, unless they fix it back to old version. Better suggestion, bring back old word crack as it was and make this version 2 for the person who likes it. 2 versions adult and kids. Email when it goes back to original.

I love the game boggle and was excited to light upon WordCrackMix2. However my joy quickly changed to frustration due to a couple of key issues: 1. WordCrackMix2 closes you out repeatedly and when it does it takes your tokens as though you had played. 2. Their call center was non responsive after repeated requests for assistance 3. If you want to keep enjoying this game you will inevitably need to pay in order to play 4. You can not gain tokens through winning and lose tokens even when you play against yourself. Overall, I wouldn't suggest WordCrackMix2. I have had much better luck with word crack, no cost, no crashing, opportunities to win tokens and no need to pay unless you want to buy the fancy cheats. May the force be with you on your quest for some good word fun!

i do not like this new version at all. If I could choose zero stars I definitely would!!
I hate the new look, sounds, the words, and it does not respond to swiping which is absolutely annoying!
One day I was playing the game like usual and the next day after the update it was a completely different game. My friends that I play with still have the old version and their scores are always higher than mine now, and not because I suddenly forgot how to play. It’s because we are challenging each other using two different games.
This weird new pirate theme going on makes me feel like I’m 4 years old. Should have left it the old way. I seriously don’t know why they changed the entire thing. They should have just created a Word Crack 4 and left this one alone.
I’m very disappointed and am deleting WordCrackMix2.

Looks like they updated this again and I don’t know how they did it but it’s even worse!! The rounds screen is smaller. It doesn’t show the coins you’ve won for each round. You still cannot catch the total of each world score because the numbers add up so fast and so tiny and it resets to 0 just as you complete the last letter of the word so you never catch the total. So annoying. Then now when the timer runs out it asks if you want to watch an ad to keep going?? How stupid is that? It’s so childish!! There is so much going on in all the screens it’s so distracting and difficult to play what once was a simple and clear game I used to play every day. I was trying to give the new update a chance but I’m gonna find a new word game.

Ya’ll took a great game & just sucked all the fun out of it & im writing this even after purchasing your new version w out all the annoying & incessant ads. Only reason you have the rating you do is because of the newcomers that dont know any better & half of them arent crazy abt it either.
Also its not cool how you force the “keep going” on players that have purchased the no ad version. The 3 free uses should be for us to decide NOT YOU!!! You need to get rid of that crap altogether bcz we’re still choking on the millions of ads you were alrdy shoving dwn our throats we dont need another one. plus it makes the game so unfair that you dont even want to play it anymore. Hell you dnt know if your opponent has plenty of time to watch that crap or not.

The game gives you so many "power ups" that it ruins the game. They provide so many free words/hints that you are forced into spending MOST of the allotted time collecting free words and are only left with about 15-20 seconds to actually play on your own. You have to use them to remain in competition with your opponent. If you passed them up and played the whole game on your own, your opponent could easily win having taken advantage of the power ups. So you choose between 15-20 seconds of actual play or a guaranteed loss.

Deleting WordCrackMix2 for this reason. I love the game itself and would gladly play again if the power ups were taken out completely.

I wish I never would’ve hit that update button! Where did my awesome word crack go??? 😭☹️ I don’t think I can play this anymore, this new WordCrack2 version is much slower when dragging the letters to create a word which is the whole point of the game! How fast can you find words! Plus it’s all very cartoonish and a bit childish in appearance. I’m so bummed, I’ve played this game religiously for years, before bed, even as a quick escape from my day to day. I understand needing to refresh things, but in my opinion, this is a whole new game vs slight update changes. Super bummed. One more thing, I tried to “redownload” Wordcrack and this scrabble version of a game is now what WordCrack has become. I’m deleting both, what’s so sad is that I’m actually so upset about this lol I need to read a book

Basic gameplay didn’t change and is still fun. This is basically Boggle with some additional features. If you like word games, you’ll probably enjoy the gameplay.

However, there are some issues in my opinion. Nothing shows you the total number of words you or your opponent found in a round. Old version had this feature. The current version looks like it was designed to appeal to a 5 year old; I’m guessing most people that play the game are adults...5 year olds aren’t good at or probably interested in finding words. Too many opponents just quit and won’t finish a game; it takes 7 days for a game to expire. Players should get a loss and game should expire in 4-5 days in my opinion. Also, a previous opponent can create as many new games with you as they want; there is no way to reject a new game in this case (another good feature lost in new version). This is an extreme example, but I had one annoying player start over 30 games in a week with me.

I have given Word Crack 3 stars. Since it is a beguiling, addictive game, why the meh score? First, because the game will NOT change the game board in "practice" mode. I get the same screen, no matter what I do. I even UNinstalled Free Word Crack and signed up for the paid version... Same single screen for practice. Fix this, PLEASE!
Second, it is critical that, when you play opponents, you know in advance whether they are using power-ups. It is needlessly discouraging to have a very good round without any help, only to be beaten over and over by people with obviously inflated scores. There needs to be a way that non-power-up users can identify themselves and not be paired with people playing with them (unless they want to). Last, I'm not even sute whether the other player gets the same board as I do. That should be spelled out and verifiable.

Mostly a solid game with some seasoned players having completed (10k+) games.
While I enjoy the challenge of competition it would be good if the practice "mode" could evolve into "modes" (multiple levels of challenge, with more than a single play board). Playing against a robot based on the above would be a welcome addition as is true with many other board games available.
This would also allow users to play offline and further enjoy this word-crazed challenge.

Really love playing against folks but wish you could have more practice options, right now it is the same board. Boggle is one of my favorite games. This game is just like boggle but I wish you didn't have to hit the check mark to submit the word. In the boggle app you double tap the last letter of the word and it gets submitted. That would be a nice short cut. Also would love to know if your opponent used coins to win. I like playing with out the coins but I always wonder if the person I am playing is using them.

Very addictive game! Almost perfect actually!

Easy to learn how to play. Love the ability to see the stats of your opponent before you actually start the game so you can decide if you want to use your PowerUps or not. Like being able to compare the words you've found VS opponent ~ as well as ALL possible words available for that round.

Opportunity areas include:
There have been a handful of times that it simply would not accept a word I had found ~ and I KNOW the word was spelled correctly (& verified via dictionary post-game.
Two such examples: Stash, Stashes, Stashed and Color. However, it did accept the Old English word(s): Stache (et al) and Colour.
Very frustrating ~ especially in the example of Color/Colour because it would have won my game! Grrr! (P.S. It does not allow certain cursewords or certain vulgar words ~ but does allow some).

IMHO: If it allows some it should allow them all.

Lastly, it does not allow one to use the offered 'Practice' mode; whether using the Free or Paid versions of WordCrackMix2 .

Overall, it is a very fun game.

Updated review: since the format of the game was changed, I can no longer play it on any screen but my phone. Which is too small! Why did you make such changes??? Your new version should be called something else ! Why ruin this wonderful game???

Yes, very addictive! But I justify that by remembering it is stimulating my brain. Only complaint is that it doesn't refresh more quickly to get to the next round with your opponents. Love that it doesn't cut you off after certain number of plays ( like Trivia Crack).

I played this game constantly. I liked being able to see the words I didn’t find and where they were on the board so I could improve. I liked the simplicity of the interface. I never used the power ups just plain old boggle game with my UK friend. Now the interface is like something for a three year old. It hangs after every commercial showing a grinning king until I kill and relaunch WordCrackMix2 . I can’t play this game any more.

* Update - the issue with the game hanging and requiring constant relaunching is fixed! I still miss the removed feature to look at the board but it’s working and I’m getting used to the new interface. Enjoying the game again.

Hate it with a passion. I had paid for no ads on the previous version, now I have ads. All of my coins I had 13,000+ disappeared. The game freezes after each round. It gets stuck on the screen with the cartoon character wearing a crown. I have to exit WordCrackMix2 and go back in. Because of that, I lose the ability to see the final results and I can’t rematch. I really think they should ditch this version and go back to the original. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!!!

Can play anytime against friends or random opponents. The only missing feature relates to the ability to use special powers to increase one's score. Win or lose, I like to be on an equal footing and after I play someone who has won because of points racked up through "fire" I simply block them for the future. But I don't know when opponents have used some of the other Powers. This doesn't happen often, but it is something that could be fixed in an update.

This game is totally addicting and great if you're a passenger in a car. On long trips, the time flys by!!!
I do agree with the other reviews, it would be nice to know, for sure, that you are playing against power ups.... No one is that good, so you know they have to be using them, and often lots of them. Either way, it's still super fun and you do get better and better the more you play.
Since it's free, I'm ok with the advertisements, esp because you can skip them after a few seconds.

New version just plain sucks.
