Audiobooks Now Audio Books Reviews

So I'm listening to a book and there are SO many issues with the playback... first of all it's not that great of a design, not super intuitive but that's not my complaint. My complaint is that while listening to the book it has so many issues playing. Very often it will pause randomly for no reason. Half the time it does not automatically go onto the next track and I have to do it manually. It even SKIPS AROUND and I have to go back so I don't miss parts of the book and I've resorted to watching the bar as I listen to it which defeats the point of having an app for it. The controls are also very delayed and don't work well with iOS because half the time it doesn't respond to control center buttons or is super delayed. At one point it even started playing the book at 3 different points at once! I had to pause it in AudiobooksNowAudioBooks , pause it in control center and one voice was still going so I had to restart the whole app... unbelievably difficult! I suggest using scribd because they are cheaper and have a better app. (Not that AudiobooksNowAudioBooks is setting that high of a bar anyway)

The listening app is buggy and stops. Even though book was purchased, it isn’t possible to play it through iBooks or the IOS music app because it doesn’t show up there. So we have a book we purchased but we cannot play it except to use the “Audiobooks Now” app, which only works sometimes. Another issue is that AudiobooksNowAudioBooks will allow a purchase as a guest without setting up an account but then you cannot play your purchase unless you set up the account. This is misleading, why allow one to buy a book as a guest if you cannot use AudiobooksNowAudioBooks to play it? And if we have to use the Audiobooks Now app to play it, could AudiobooksNowAudioBooks not at least work reliably?

Granted I am new to audio books, but I do expect to play a purchased book when I please. I expect a player to work. I expect honesty when buying a book. And I expect to be able to use another player if the Audiobooks Now doesn’t work properly.

I have had AudiobooksNowAudioBooks for a few years now and have enjoyed the selection of books and the readings. On occasion, the person reading the story does not fit the characters, and the expressions and voices being used are not the most pleasant to listen to-and sometimes it’s a book by authors whose stories I enjoy reading. If that is the case, I won’t continue listening to it.
I would also like more opportunity and ease in sharing a book.
For the most part, I am happy with AudiobooksNowAudioBooks.

I like AudiobooksNowAudioBooks for car trips especially. The books are a bit expensive but I just order one at a time as I finish a series now. I love being able to speed it up a bit, nice feature. I never realized until reading some other reviews that I can stop the subscription and still have my downloaded books, that was never revealed when I started. AudiobooksNowAudioBooks needs some work please. It doesn’t always start off where I left off and some times it runs two voices together, one about 3 seconds behind the other. I have to keep pressing the stop and start to get it to just one voice. When it works, I’m loving having my books on the go!! I give AudiobooksNowAudioBooks a “C”

Books are fine, and it works a lot of the time, but good grief! The player sometimes randomly stops, you can’t reengage it from the lock screen, and when you open AudiobooksNowAudioBooks to start it again, it’s not at the same spot it stopped. Then other times on the lock screen the pause button won’t work, same thing happens when you open AudiobooksNowAudioBooks to get it to pause, when you start it again it’s not in the same spot. From the reviews, it sounds like this has been happening for quite a while since some of the reviews are two years old so it would probably be good to get this stuff fixed.

I love AudiobooksNowAudioBooks!! I get great prices for all books and since I drive frequently to visit my parents AudiobooksNowAudioBooks makes the 8 hour drive fun!! Also makes my work commute exciting instead of sad as morning drivers can be pretty cranky!! I have always lived to read but so hard to find the time now so what could be better than AudiobooksNowAudioBooks!! If I have problems it is either with my phone or cords but none with AudiobooksNowAudioBooks so far and I have used it for at least 2 years!! Thanks for the awesome books!

I want to say I was impressed with the Public Domain books available for free.
I knew this was not the cheapest app available but thought it might be a decent app maybe even Special, but not that special. I am disabled, having nerve damage in both hands and issues with my vision as well and reading became something I was missing and thought it would be a wonderful thing to have books back in my life.

I use AudiobooksNowAudioBooks on an iPhone and have difficulty with the sleep function and as I have read from others at any time it just skips forward in the book while listening. The tracking bar doesn’t always sync up with the actual book and it too skips to catch up. I have had it reading from multiple points in the story for this issue I typically just restart my phone.
Unfortunately I purchased a fair number of books before learning of these issues.
If they could fix this it might be special as I had hoped.

Love app but has one issue I detest...many times at the end of a track, the book stops. Soooo I have to stop whatever I’m doing and go to the track list, find the next one and hit play. VERY annoying and not convenient. Please fix! Floating in pool with Bluetooth headphones and it stops - have to get out and grab phone to fix. Same with any other activity.

I am not a real book reader as a hobby, but since I’ve started using this Audiobook app, I absolutely love listening to the great variety of books offered by AudiobooksNowAudioBooks. A ton of worthwhile public domain books I recommend, also the books you can purchase stay very up to date. There are a few glitches, but besides that, the manage library function is good, as well as the search areas. Wish listing is nice as well. Thank you for such a cool app!

There are a couple very basic things AudiobooksNowAudioBooks doesn’t do: When typing to search for a title, etc. there is no cursor/bar to show you where you’re typing. And when you open AudiobooksNowAudioBooks , it defaults to book titles, instead of “my library,” which seems to be the logical screen to default to.

Also it pauses when you go to do things like Google, when there is no reason to pause. And when you search for a book that isn’t available, you just get a plain white screen, as opposed to a message.

The membership is less, but I prefer Audible.

I have been a club member for a couple of years and has switched from their website to AudiobooksNowAudioBooks . So far it works well and I have not had any problems. Audiobooks seem to play fine and download easily. I can login and access my account with no problems, search for Audiobooks and check out which books are on sale. Overall I am very satisfied!

Love listening to the stories from whatever device I happen to have on from the same place I left off. It is so easy to sign up and buy books. I would highly recommend AudiobooksNowAudioBooks to anyone who loves audio books but hates most of the hassle of cds, high prices, and it only being on the device you downloaded it on. This is so simple for me and I love it!

Was gifted a audio book by my son to use while we are traveling. Today attempted to listen to it through CarPlay and AudiobooksNowAudioBooks would skip 5 to 6 tracks instead of going to the next track. My wife would constantly have to go back into AudiobooksNowAudioBooks on the phone to back it up to the correct track. This was following every single track! It was extremely annoying because each track is only 10 minutes long, so every 10 minutes we had to correct it by going back to the iPhone and finding the right track.

I downloaded a book from audiobooksnow thinking I would get the new member discount advertised when I signed up with this outfit. Instead, they charged me full price. When I complained, they explained that, had I purchased the book on the web and then downloaded it to my phone it would have received the 50% discount, but because I purchased it through AudiobooksNowAudioBooks I paid full price. The reason? Apple charges them for in-app purchases. I cancelled my membership and now the book that I PURCHASED is gone. Stick with the reputable companies selling audio books!

I'm on the Club Pricing plan, and overall AudiobooksNowAudioBooks works.

+ I like that it's mostly DRM free, so I could put the files into Music or another app, but I prefer to use this one.

+ Had multiple speedup options for playback (1.25x, 1.5x, etc.). Saves a lot of time.

- Ugly, unresponsive web app. Come on, build a native app already.

- Still needs an internet connection to play already downloaded books. Makes it useless on an airplane.

- Sometimes tracks break at set intervals, not at logical places in the book like chapters or headings. Many times I'll want to go back a couple of minutes and find I can't because we started a new track. You can't back up 30 seconds into the previous track. You have to manually select it from the track list and find your place again.

I’ve had an account with Audiobooks Now for quite some time. The other day everything just disappeared off my app. It shows “no results found”. Can someone help me retrieve it. I’m afraid to delete it from my iPhone and re-downloading AudiobooksNowAudioBooks as I’m sure I’ll lose my entire library.

Get to listen and cook dinner wash dishes. Just love it. If there was anything had to say they was not great is if you stop or pause the book, it’s not there when you come back. You have to click on it then go back to library find your book click on it the. Hit play. That bugs me. Other then that it’s great.

Ordering, downloading, listening and archiving all work well for me. Had trouble with ONE book not being loud enough - they fixed it that afternoon. They have what I enjoy. I’ve listened to over 34 books. Some not very good BUT that’s not the service’s problem, it was the writer’s problem.

I’ve had a maddening first experience with AudiobooksNowAudioBooks: mid sentence, my book skips ahead. I try rewinding, rewinding, rewinding to find where I left off, but then it skips head mid rewind. Of course I have no idea where I WAS so I have to start the previous chapter over again. ARGH!

FOLLOW UP: credit due ... they’ve reached out to me to work on the issue. Plus 1 star!

The deals are pretty great: $6 a month gets you an audiobook for half price. AudiobooksNowAudioBooks itself is...less than amazing. The player frequently stops working at random when a track concludes, and you have to press play to resume. Files take a long time to download, and will spontaneously cease downloading, forcing you to relaunch AudiobooksNowAudioBooks . A little tinkering with the bugs in the player would probably fix these issues.

I have been a member, so to speak, since September 2017. I have been a member of other audiobook sites since 2002, and currently own over 1,500 audiobooks online. I enjoy Audiobooksnow, but there are a few changes I would love to see happen. I would like to be able to back up from one track to another, and I would like to know how long I have left on the audiobook from any point. I would, also, like to have a way to mark each book as I complete it. I do especially like the Club pricing, which was, and is, the reason for my using AudiobooksNowAudioBooks .

I have been pleased with my overall experience using AudiobooksNowAudioBooks. It is easy to navigate and I appreciate the updates that continue to improve my user experience. It is a bit disappointing that you cannot get your discounted pricing through AudiobooksNowAudioBooks . But that really hasn’t prohibited are use in anyway.

I purchased a book on AudiobooksNowAudioBooks to save a few dollars. Should have stayed with iTunes or another app. I downloaded the book and then opened it on an overseas flight to listen. The library was empty. Worked ok after I landed. I was surprised that the tracks are labeled but not the chapters of the book. Twice it jumped to a different track while I was listening.
I’m guessing the developer will improve it over time.

Love good books but don’t always have the time to sit and read , but this is the best way to enjoy my books and still get things done . Good books Great prices . Easy to use . Thanks for a wonderful product . I just bought a new iPad and my books transferred easily, what a blessing.
