My love in the Dominican republic

I recently went down to Dominican republic got married I do not speak any Spanish all I had was a text translator.

Then I noticed the other day they had a voice translator and now it is so much easier to communicate I could speak to her and she can speak to me in translation she was so happy to hear what I was used to text but here in her own language by voice so until I learn to speak the language this is the perfect way for us to communicate I’ll probably upgrade to some wireless earbuds voice translation system that are available soon

not bad ... but there's better one out there

The single-language (English and .... Spanish, for example) translator/dictionaries are much better at what they do, and are less expensive or free.
This one is eight dollars but gives you many idioms in one app. ; nice if you're traveling through Europe for example.
Its main voice translation competitor right now is Speak & Translate ... but it's a hefty twenty bucks! S & T is slightly superior in several areas, like voice volume for instance. Yes, that's very important in a product like this because it's often being used in noisy environments. and since you're mostly listening (or asking the OTHER person to listen) to a foreign jumble of syllables, you want a higher degree of sharpness & clarity & volume coming from your tiny little smartphone speaker.
The text-only version of iTranslate is free and works quite well, so you might want to check that out first before spending the $8 for the voice version.

Carplay warning!

This is a good translator but beware that if your car has carplay and you plug your phone in to charge it, iTranslateVoice will not work until you unplug it. While most apps are not “CarPlay” compatible, this is the only app I have found two cease functioning while CarPlay is activated.
I have had difficulty getting the developers support personnel to understand that this is a bug and not the absence of a feature. If and when the bug is corrected I would give iTranslateVoice five stars because it does a very good job at translating in other conditions.
March 21, Update: The developer continues to misunderstand that this is not a compaitiblity issue with CarPlay but that his app no longer functions when carplay is plugged in. I've given up trying convince them of that. One more try, If your car has carplay and you plug your phone in to charge it, iTranslateVoice won't work period. Unplug from the car and iTranslateVoice works.

😢❤️

I really like the old version before the update today because it would let you tap the speech button not only on English but on Japanese as well but now it treats it as a whole and doesn’t give you that option. I think it’s cool you added a phrasebook but I feel most people use iTranslateVoice to test their own speech in another language and play it back to see if it sounds similar and not as a quick handbook was predetermined phrases. Most people would say just say what you need to say in English and it will translate it through another language but sometimes that’s not the truth is it’ll translate it differently that’s why I really appreciated the button where you could say something in a foreign language and replay it back in the foreign language not your native language.

Translate on the Spot

I have enjoyed Using iTranslateVoice several times in India , italy and am having fun with French . Gearing up for a trip . It can be a problem with out good internet connection and you don’t want to over load with long sentences . It will give back nonsense . But my friend from Japan
And I had a hysterical time trying to communicate through it while we where together in India . Best to make short and simple sentences and study ahead some basics so your library is established in case your WiFi isn’t on when you actually need it . It can be really fun and also very spot on !

Rocks out English to Thai.

iTranslateVoice is really not to be believed. The voice translater is flawless with about a 98 % accuracy, the trick is to speak a little slower with accurate pronunciation. One cravat is the service in many Asian country is bad except Tokyo. So the translater only usually only works at the hotels wifi. I wish the would post all the languages in offline mode. They should realize the the eas is much larger then the west, however since they are so cool they get my five Stars! Update on this version. Still love It, still going strond.

Good Cantonese Verbal Translation

Unlike Google which has ignored Cantonese , iTranslateVoice has good accuracy in verbal/written English to Cantonese and Cantonese to English translation. It can distinguish between daily spoken Cantonese versus written which is a great help when using it for day to day communication. Spoken Cantonese is different than the written form and it is so nice that this company has continued to support Cantonese which is highly used throughout the world where Chinese have immigrated . And of course there is the is the Hong Kong region.

Life Saving App

I am a retail sales manager for a large Big Box retailer in Honolulu where our clients come from all over the world. Before using iTranslateVoice , I would resort to drawing pictures to communicate with those who could not speak English...I now just find out the customers language preference, plug it into iTranslateVoice and am instantly able to have a meaningful dialogue. Thank you for such a relevant app that is extremely user friendly!

FAILING IN COMPARISON . . . IMPROVEMENT NEEDED

So far iTranslateVoice has done comparably the same, if not less, for simply translating voice to text as to what both Google Translate and Microsoft Translator Apps are currently able to do, however each of those are 100% FREE and contain ZERO Adds while in use.

As well, they both contain far more advanced features in many ways! And I’m very sorry, but to not have the Hebrew language as one of the supported languages in your now “essential tools” section? I’m sorry, but that is what has dropped my rating to the 2 STARS you have received. I paid for iTranslateVoice, and until improvements that are certainly necessary are made, that’s where my rating will remain.

It’s pretty nice

I really like it and I think it will be helpful in the future if I am talking to someone in another language I kind of know Spanish but when I talk into the translater it says In English what I’m saying so sometimes I mess up on what I said so it’s helping me improve my Spanish the only thing I don’t like about is the voice that it talkes to you in it is just a kinda weird and kinda boring voice but otherwise it’s really cool

Great With English and Spanish

Or community is getting more and more Latino residents, many of whom have not mastered English. While I don't interact enough with them to justify the trouble it would take to become fluent in their language, iTranslateVoice prepares me for those situations where I need to converse with them: accidents and emergencies, ordering food in their restaurants, helping them with directions, etc. It's very accurate and easy to use.

Great App

I'm so glad I got iTranslateVoice. Translates easily and quickly. You can speak the word or word(s) you want to translate – in either direction – from English to another language or from that other language to English. If it doesn't understand you, it then gives you the opportunity to type in the word or phrase you want to translate. Lots of different languages choices too.

Useful for Phrases

iTranslateVoice is good for phrases as the phrase gives the program context which increases its accuracy. For single words, I find my dictionary app more useful as it shows the various meanings of a word. One issue with iTranslateVoice is that it is not very accurate ‘hearing’ a female voice. I usually type phrases in or lower my voice (which marginally improves accuracy). Overall, I find iTranslateVoice a useful tool, but it’s not the only tool in my toolbox when I study my Spanish lessions.

Great app

I love iTranslateVoice, it’s so handy to have. The only thing I could critique is, it sometimes doesn’t register/understand what your saying. (Even if you slow way down to say it into the phone) So the translation is off.... you have the option to spell what you’re trying to say, but if you don’t know how to spell something in another language.... you’re a little screwed!!

A Gift to the Monolingual

Modestly priced and cleanly designed, iTranslateVoice does a lot and does it well. From simple sentences in spoken English, it quickly and accurately produces idiomatic text and voice translations in pleasingly accented Spanish. (Inevitably, it does less well with complex or obscure phrases, like, “ceramic art,” por ejemplo, but that is a minor matter.) If it is equally adept in all the many languages it supports, iTranslateVoice is a small miracle.

Works but will not be used due to flaw

It works pretty well. Will not be using this though because switching between two languages that are being actively used, is not as simple and fast as tapping a button to switch between them.

Example: speaking in French and output in German. Will then have to do many steps to switch to speaking in German and outputting in French. Should just be one button that does this for you like on other translators.

Charges you for what it does not do

I have worked in video and sound for over 30 years. There is no language that I have played back for this application, including close-microphone ADR sound that this application could translate.

I even tried it on my Spanish-speaking neighbor, a native Colombian who speaks flawless Spanish. I speak both Spanish and English. I could hear and understand my neighbor. iTranslate did not hear or understand her at all.

We’re not talking CarPlay here. Either there is something completely wrong with how I was trying to use iTranslateVoice , or there is something non-functioning in iTranslateVoice .

The iTunes Store charged me for a two-month subscription. iTranslateVoice offers iTranslate Pro for a year. But, if the developers really want to sell iTranslateVoice, I recommend that it not charge anyone until there has been at least one successful translation.

I spent a good four hours trying to get one.

Not recommended.

I Translate and Voice he’s very versatile and easy to use

I have been using iTranslate voice for several years now and have found it in valuable communicating with friends who don’t speak English and also looking up an occasional word in Spanish since my Spanish is not 100%. It is extremely easy to use and very versatile.

The best of the translation apps I’ve used...

Helping a college student from China figure out some of the complexities of an American college, I used iTranslateVoice. She had one, too, and I’m betting tried lots of others. Toward the end of our conversation she this. I’m used others, in many languages, with students, and this is my favorite. Highly recommended.

Great medical app!

I am a family birth nurse, and iTranslateVoice is indispensable. I have been disappointed in the past with translation apps that shied away from parts of the body or obstetric related terms, but iTranslateVoice is awesome. At 3am when that non English speaking laboring woman comes in puffing, I do not have time for a formal translator to get there 45 minutes later! Thank you!
