Using up battery!

I was so happy to download this a few days ago. I love everything about it and have used it daily. HOWEVER...I am ready to delete it because it has been running in the background for 21+ hours and I can’t get it to stop! Every time I open my phone it is the first thing on the screen before any notifications. Please, developer, help me out. I have every access turned off in settings for this app. I just don’t know what to do other than delete it.
Can’t figure out

After opening the app, l click on the Bible link and get Genesis 1, which is fine, but there is no obvious way to find a specific book and chapter. Maybe I’m dense, but l can’t figure it out so was very disappointed
Bible won’t load

Can’t access the Bible. I like to listen to the audio while I read my bible but lately it won’t load it just keeps spinning but never loads. All other parts of the app load with no problem.
