CCW US Gun Laws Reviews

Even though I had a paid subscription (ad free) good through February 2022, Legal Heat’s developers did something that resulted in ads appearing when I opened CCWUSGunLaws , and one of their advertiser’s (Sportsman’s Warehouse) website was opening up even though I did not click on the link! And I COULD NOT CLOSE IT! I called Legal Heat, we exchanged emails and texts, and they still as of yesterday, don’t have it fixed. Totally unacceptable…I deleted CCWUSGunLaws , and deleted them from automatic renewal…they are gone.

While I used to recommend CCWUSGunLaws for concealed carry holders, I’m changing my app. The reciprocity map now requires email confirmation. Why? What does my email have to do with whether a state accepts my CCL or not? The changes to CCWUSGunLaws have made it less effective instead of more effective. I’m going with CCW 50 States instead.

Disgraceful company.

You paid for the full version. You utilize the My Carry Map for your own state. A paid customer paying for that map. That was the agreement. You paid, you see the map.

THEN they just flipped the agreement and breached it on you and restricted your access to the My Carry Map unless you provide them an email address.

That wasn’t the deal. We paid when you provided access based on the payment. Then you shut access off in exchange for an email address so you can build value in a database. Breach of contract.

I have been subscribed to CCWUSGunLaws for years. Now it is a annual subscription?
So I subscribed and information doesn’t show up on Washington State other then quick reference items. All other info a grayed out area.
What Happened?
I am ready to go to the other CCW app for subscription, it is rated much better.

Am I no longer able to restore my full purchase from years ago of the ad free version anymore because of your change to a subscription model now? I’m not about to subscribe to remove ads when I paid a couple bucks awhile back to do just that. Kind of seems like something that needs to be added back.

CCWUSGunLaws needs an update to keep up with states that have Constitutional Carry now. As of July 1st, Tennessee has Constitutional Carry, and on July 15th (the time this review was submitted) CCWUSGunLaws still claims that Tennessee doesn’t allow Constitutional Carry. A simple update would help improve CCWUSGunLaws.

Love CCWUSGunLaws but the “Find Training Near You” window is annoying and there seems to be no way of making it go away.

This new update really makes CCWUSGunLaws much more user friendly! I have been using for years, but this is a really great change for the better, better graphics, better readability and more an better information. I like the update!

Took the class at Cabelas in Charleston WV on October 29th 2017 . Got my ccw from my Sheriffs Office in Fayette County WV from Sheriff Mike Fridley on May 21st 2018 . Although we don’t need a ccw permit in WV I do travel occasionally so it comes in handy . Thanks Legal Heat !

I use this all the time while traveling in my RV

As ridiculous as it sounds we do not have a constitutional right to carry in our very own country! An app like this that stays up-to-date and accurate is essential for anyone traveling with a firearm for protection. I don’t go anywhere without checking CCWUSGunLaws first.

I travel a lot with my weapon, so it’s always nice to have this reference, to stay on the right side of the law in every state!!

App is absolutely awesome. Always updated with the newest state and federal open and concealed laws. Very nice to have a quick reference map of the affiliated states that honor your permits.

Check each state law and be sure to know exactly what is permitted & what is not. CCWUSGunLaws is regularly updated as laws change. Great to have app on your phone.

I could not get info from app that I needed. Sent text message and got a prompt reply with advice to reinstall the updated version. It worked immediately. I travel a lot and depend on CCWUSGunLaws. It works!

I love CCWUSGunLaws but I’m struggling to send an email. My confusion on CCWUSGunLaws is when I see that Illinois doesn’t show that they accept any state permit but my carry map shows 33 states that I can carry in. I’m in Texas so which is correct and how do I contact someone to get the answers?

I sent an email to Legal Heat letting them know I wasn’t seeing a law update for Texas (they’re usually really quick to update) and within a couple days they released an update fixing a bug and adding more features.

I paid for CCWUSGunLaws years ago and never needed an account. Now you need an account if you want all the functions you paid for. Bad form!

ditto to pilot35. on ipad, get full page ad with no x. i paid for CCWUSGunLaws. why am i getting ads, with no way to close them?

I paid for CCWUSGunLaws and I can’t even sign in . Always sends me an Network error message.

When logging in w/o email it takes you to a grey screen.

Iphone 8 fully updated 👎🏿

After the update several days ago, it doesn't see the network and locks up with white screen. Trying to log in with established user/pass, it says no network. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Rebooted phone. All the other apps on the phone see the network and get online.

Just another failed update to this Legal Heat app. Its getting annoying to use now. Hit and miss.

All I get is a full page add for Sportsmans Warehouse now. They have also deleted all the previous reviews which were not good.
Bad customer service, they have never responded. It used to be a good app but every time they did a update it got worse with lots of glitches. Totally unusable now.

Responding to developers response. I paid for CCWUSGunLaws several years ago so I shouldn’t be getting ads. On the iPad version there is no X to get out of the ad.

After recent update, I get network connectivity issues and grey screen issues.

When it used to work, it was great! I loved the feeling getting current regulations and their references.

I do wish it was possible to have direct links to the states regulation page. However, can’t argue when it’s free.

I have the legal heat app on both my iPhone xr and iPad gen7, and have been a long time user, ever since i took the class at the great eastern outdoors show years ago. Unfortunately i cannot give either version of it more than three stars at this time. I believe the old version would download the information and you would have to occasionally update it, or maybe only download the state you were looking at -I'm not sure. It appears that these new versions download all the different states law info every time you open CCWUSGunLaws , which i have discovered can take anywhere from about 20 seconds to more than 5 minutes depending on location and internet connection. Also, while once loaded the iphone version is fine, the ipad version seems to have some issues. These include missing information on the individual state screens, to the reciprocity maps not functioning correctly. Should things improve, i shall revisit my review.

I have had my CCW in Ohio since January 2019. I have found CCWUSGunLaws to be very useful and helpful at the beginning of my carrying days just to get familiar with where I can and cannot take my firearm. I now know reliably where I can and cannot. I still check this from time to time just to see if there are updates. It is also very useful when traveling from state to state. Well worth the money. Shoot Point Blank in Ohio now introduces CCWUSGunLaws in their CCW class because I mentioned it. Great app!

Updated periodically and easy to navigate. Highly recommend CCWUSGunLaws to stay up and current on gun laws. In order to carry responsibly it is the burden of the carrier to be current and educated to the laws.

I can’t believe CCWUSGunLaws is free and comes with so much. On top of getting all the latest laws for each state and federal laws, you can also build your own custom carry map showing what states you can carry in based on your age, state of residence, and what permits you have.

In the first release of Legal Heat, state laws were part of CCWUSGunLaws . The author soon realized that he was issuing a lot of updates because the laws kept changing so he split the database from CCWUSGunLaws in a later version. Unfortunately, you had to download the concealed and open carry laws for each state individually. The latest version of CCWUSGunLaws will let you download either or both of the concealed and open carry databases at once so that you can read up while you're flying to your destination with your firearms locked safely in your luggage.

Unlike some other concealed carry applications that just show maps of where your permit is valid, Legal Heat has extensive notes and contact information for every state in the union, making it my one-stop-app when planning for business or pleasure trips. It also lets me refresh my knowledge before I walk into a restaurant that serves alcohol to ensure that it's legal wherever I am.
