Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT subscribe via apple. Zino apps has made RecoilMagazine horribly buggy for years and I just lost all my mag issues for about the 6th time and I have no interest in dealing with Zino apps support again. Canceled subscription and requested refund. Recoil, you’d be making a great business decision if you’d go with a different app developer...you’re losing subscribers that don’t really want your content.

I enjoy reading this magazine, always has good info. But RecoilMagazine needs some help. It either won’t up 100% or freezes up and then ask you to update RecoilMagazine . It also won’t buy/ download new issue of the magazine.

Can no longer view issues offline, which is huge for me.
Has been this way for sometime.

App asks me to download latest version every time I open it, but I have the latest version.

Unable to get current issue. Have a subscription through iTunes. App is garbage.

I'm sick and tired of seeing deer in crosshairs every other page ad in other firearms pubs, Recoil is different, focuses on defense, has great detailed tests both pics and text, for guns, gear, knives, how to articles not seen in other mags this detailed, and as an off road rider, issue 5 even has an article on the Christini AWD 300!
The editor made a mistake with comments about MP7 in issue 4 but we all make mistakes! Current editorial is spot on so I subscribed and people making comments about how this is an anti-second amendment pub should take a good look at who the real antis are, the ones who after every tragedy are the first to cry more gun control for personal political gain knowing full well they and their families are always protected by bodyguards.
I don't find the digital version as hard to read as others have mentioned, but every mag is better in hard copy.

The new versionof RecoilMagazine doesn't work correctly and that is putting it mildly. I've been waiting over two weeks for the back issues I paid for to appear and I still don't have them. I have three Apple devices that are less than 6 months old and updated to the newest version of the OS and it still won't work on any of them. You need to fix it quickly, refund our money if you can't and post a link where we can contact you by email regarding refunds for purchased copies we can't access. A post on the progress you are making to rectify thiswould be nice, too. Recoil is only a great magazine if the readers can get to their issues. How about stepping up here and getting this fixed?

Thank you for finally updating the issues. I think most of the bad reviews could have been avoided if you had kept everyone informed about what was going on and not just as a reply to one person who posted a review. Recoil has been great from the first issue, but you need to keep your followers in the loop.

I've only had this subscription for about 24 hrs, but I'm thoroughly satisfied!
I've loved this magazine since it's first publication. I think I'll continue to pick up the hard copy... I'm a little old fashion and I love holding an actual book or magazine while I read it. That being said, you can't beat the ease of having several books and magazines on your iPad for travel.
RecoilMagazine is nice too. Go to the table of contents, click on the picture of the article you want to read, it jumps to it. One of the top tabs brings up a drop down menu of the articles; no need to see advertising. Another tab allows you to "scroll" through multiple pages until you find something that catches your eye. It's really well thought out.
I'D HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MAGAZINE AND RecoilMagazine AS A READING TOOL.

This is an awesome magazine, great articles and pictures. Lot's of how to and do it yourself sections is a great addition. The other really cool thing is this mag tells you where to get every part that they have on the guns and all the other featured items with price and website,and even better with the iPad on any page you can tap on the items website and it brings you right to it. My only gripe with the digital version is like other reviews have stated when you zoom in the words get nice and clear but the image stays blurry and pixelated other then the fact the paperback issue comes with a pull out target all and all not bad on the iPad. (Just fix the pixelation on zoom)

RecoilMagazine removed previous purchases which either needs to be fixed or refunded... It also deleted all the concealment issues... They don't mention these problems until you upgrade you're app then they recommend you use the old app.... Do they understand how this works? There's no going back with Apple!

In response to the reply... Yes... Thanks Captain Obvious... Of course I entered my iTunes info and restored the issues you decided to make available. My point is this... Did anyone from the company actually used RecoilMagazine before foisting it on the users? If so maybe you would have waited until ALL the purchased content was available. I don't pay to be your beta tester...

Quick follow up... you should ask for your money back from the Cub Scout troop of Bayonne NJ, their web skills just ain’t cutting it... this version is just as F’d up as the previous. Really, you guys need to get serious...

It's been frustrating trying to find Recoil at the newsstands lately. So I was very happy that it was available as an e-zine, although I still miss the feeling of the quality of their paper issue.
I like RecoilMagazine and it's ability to preview the issue before you buy it, several other e-zines that I'm interested in don't have this feature and I'm less likely to buy a back issue. Note: Several of their early issues don't have a preview feature. Wish they did though.
An improvement I'd like to see... A link to some of the featured articles and advertisers, maybe I'd like to buy something. Imagine that!

At the heart of RecoilMagazine is a truth telling real deal magazine. The people that work there know there stuff. They are focused on the culture of the gun community and what that means from the civilian shooter all the way up to the pinnacle of operators. Great read every time.
RecoilMagazine lets you know when the next issue is available and manages your subscription. Could not recommend more. Only negative is that it takes a few weeks for RecoilMagazine to get updated after a version upgrade to iOS. Once it was done, however, everything was golden.

I thought RecoilMagazine/magazine would be nice to take with me when traveling. Initial activation and getting first download is problematic. After several times deleting, downloading, refreshing purchases, and leaving it overnight, it finally rewarded me with the magazine. Readability and presentation are good. However, at the end of the magazine I found a advert of over 100 pages had been included in the download. This would not be too bad except that there is no way to delete the ad which I wasn't interested in, so be prepared for longer downloads and a lot of wasted storage on your device. I would have given RecoilMagazine/magazine 5 stars if there was a way to delete the ad and not be forced to download and waste storage.

I paid for a years subscription and received 2 issues of the 6 i should have received annually. 2017 rolls around and two months in I was recharged for another year. They still owe me 4 issues and now they charge me for 6 additional issues.
If you buy RecoilMagazine in the middle of the year or late in the year as i did you will only receive issues until the end of the year at which point you will be auto subscribed and charged for the next year. You will not receive a full 6 issues unless you buy in January.
I asked for a refund in full. This magazine has been going down in quality the last year (read: 133 pages about designer wheels for cars, no joke this is in the most recent issue) and now they pull this on its consumer base. Many of my friends said don't support this company for various reasons, now i see why.

I would not recommend buying this right now. RecoilMagazine keeps crashing and can't find a way to uninstall and reinstall. Frustrating and they automatically bill you for something you're not getting (bought the 1 year Subscription and it auto-renews). If the Developers are honest and credible - they'll issue an email to their Subscribers telling us it will be fixed in the next few days!!! What's up with RecoilMagazine?? DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPDATE (Moved to 2 Stars instead of 1):

Finally got it to work again for a couple of days by deleting my two Issues, then restoring my Purchases - then it locked up again until I repeated this. Oh well, at least it works for awhile.

Next Question - "When is Issue #3 going to be available for those of us that purchased the 1 year Subscription??? It's been out at the Stores (Hard Copy Magazine) for over a week now ... I would hope/think that the DIGITAL Issue would be available to us first!!! What the Heck Recoil Magazine? Get it together - you have a great Publication, but your Credibility is being ruined by this!!!"

I first started getting the hard copy magazine in the store and was pleased to see it available as a digital download. The magazine is of the highest quality and offers content of the same regard. The stories are well written and are focused on being informative. I did see in the store that there is a target pack with the latest issue. I wish digital subscribers would get these emailed to them to print. Also the archive function is a little glitchy. Not a huge issue though. You've got a life long reader in me. Thanks.

When I first picked up Recoil in a bookstore, I was immediately enthralled with the vibrant design and image quality. When I found the ios app, I was excited to pick up the back issues for a fraction of the print edition price.

While still a great magazine, I soon found that the magazine consists of fairly low-res scans of the print version (which is over-sized). If you zoom to 100% of the print version, you will be disgusted with pixelated ugliness instead of the beautiful detail you should have. Popular Science gets it right 100% of the time with sharp images, so I know its possible.

Fix this issue and 5-stars, plus I would definitely subscribe, otherwise I may just stick with the print version (maybe....)

This is the best magazine for shooters. It's like the SHOT Show, only on paper. They write excellent reviews, and seem to know what shooters want to read about. The only thing is, they need to update their app. Obviously, I'm going to keep on subscribing, but it's a little tedious seeing the "developer needs to update" and the "this may slow down your iPad" message. As of 4/6/17, I uninstalled and reinstalled the RECOIL app, and everything seems to be fine. 5 stars.

Love the magazines and it’s great content, but RecoilMagazine absolute crap. Crashes constantly. When it does run many issue are blank. I can see the pages in the across the bottom but when I tap on one a blank page is all I get. Have worked with customer service over and over again. They do keep trying but the issue never is fully resolved. Latest issue is I can not see any of the content at all, it keep asking me to subscribe again. Fix was to log in direct and not use the iTunes connection. Works now but shouldn’t be this difficult. Even when it is working there still is banner ads asking you to subscribe even if you already do. Those got to go away!! Come guys you can do better.

App ignores my paid subscription can’t download new editions and worst of all deleted all of the ones that I had.

I have bought a bunch of the issues on my iPad and really like them. Great content, lots of new gear; just packed every time. However, I got the iPhone 6 plus and downloaded the most recent issues and the pictures all are all grainy and pixelated. Not sure if that is on Apple's end or Recoil's, but it needs to get fixed. The print will zoom in just fine, but every picture is pretty well toast. The magazine is great and would really like to be able to see all the awesome detail of the fantastic pictures on a phone that has such a huge screen.
