Draw Something Classic Reviews

I wanted to play this game with friends/family. But it is just too shady. What are dark patterns you might ask? They are when the user interface tries to trick you into selecting certain items. And this game does it constantly. Buttons to say ‘no thanks’ are greyed out while the buttons that DrawSomethingClassic wants you to select are bright green. The game is constantly trying to get you to ‘Use up your hints so you can buy more!’ Or ‘Log into your facebook account through DrawSomethingClassic .’ You also can’t close the ads without accidentally hitting outside of the tiny x and launching DrawSomethingClassic store roughly 10% of the time. The constant ads and requests for me to join through facebook ruin the experience. Can you not just make a version someone can PAY for one time and remove ads and stop harassing customers about mining their personal data (facebook)? I just want to draw and guess drawings and this game is seriously complicating that experience. I cannot recommend DrawSomethingClassic to anyone as it is—especially kids. Please make a clean, pared down version someone can purchase to play with friends and family. Stop with the shadiness. You have a true opportunity to make a great app. Most of the drawing game apps are rubbish. This one is actually a fun, quality drawing app and would be wonderful without all the extra stuff that sabotages the gameplay experience. Tldr: Make a clean version someone can buy. Thanks.

So this is an amazing game. I've been playing since around 2015 and I still sometimes play today. I think the concept is amazing and that the developers have executed it pretty well. I love the guessing and drawing part and trying to be the fastest one to finish the events is a blast!
However, there is one small problem. Actually, it's more than a small problem. There are way too many ads. If you have never played then you wouldn't know. When doing an event, there is an ad for every 2 or 3 guesses which is mostly for me less than a minute. If you are a new player, I do not recommend downloading DrawSomethingClassic unless you are willing to pay a decent amount of money to get rid of the ads. Another annoying thing is the pop-ups. Whenever I take more than like 3 seconds to guess, Draw Something asks Do you want a free bomb? for a video.
It's honestly disappointing how the developers are trying to milk as much money on this game as they can. It's a great concept and the game is pretty good but the ads and pop-ups are killing me. I think I am going to quit the game for good because of this. I do not want to pay money for no ads and frankly, I shouldn't have to watch ads every 40 seconds.

I play this game daily, and I love it as it gives me drawing ideas and I can always find a great group of people to actually draw instead of just write unlike in the beginning. However, I’ve been playing this game for over a decade and played this on many different platforms from lg smartphones, the galaxy, my kindle, and ipad and it still has the same glitch where it freezes trying to load and the only way to get it to work is to restart my entire device. Also, a new glitch, the sensitivity is all wonky and when I start to draw it just creates straight lines and I have to undo my drawing... the ads are torture. Because they show the same ad often for a month, before you can move on to the next drawing unless you want to do a lower level drawing. I even paid for the premium version but it’s not the same. The palette is laid out different and the colors are really hard to find, I feel like the free version is much more developed but just tortures you with ads. I’ve tried inviting friends to bypass ads and I get the freeze glitch. After ten years I would expect developers to fix these dumb glitches and please stop showing the homescape ad before I become homicidal.

My boyfriend and I downloaded draw something to play together, and I had some DISTURBING things happen to me during the last two days of playing. I was creating a drawing for my boyfriend and as I was in the middle of drawing, something popped up on the screen. It was a sexually explicit video of a woman, and written below was “command, and they will obey”. It wasn’t even on the screen long enough for me to screenshot, and then it disappeared. I was literally so scared because that had never happened to me on the game before, and it’s definitely not something that should be on a game like this?? I’m not sure if someone hacked into the game or what but that is not something you want your children to see. Then today I was guessing the “Black Friday” themed drawings and there was a drawing of a dead pig hanging from a pole (it was one of the thanksgiving drawings and the word was “roast” previously) but this time the “correct” word was “teddy”. That could of been a glitch but nonetheless it’s creepy. The game is super fun to play, and it’s a good way to exercise your creativity, but some weird stuff is going on here.

I had this game forever. I uninstall it and reinstall it. But when I downloaded it recently the amount of ads are insane. The cost of colors is also really expensive. This really cheapens the experience because I really love this game,I’m thinking about paying to get rid of ads but even still I don’t like the game like this. You should treat players the same despite paying vs non paying players. Of course it’s okay for a game to have some ads or some type of pay in game thing. But for instance when I paid 30 coins for a drawing pack I didn’t get to keep it? I also just realized there is no pay to get rid of ads options only by inviting friends. 😫 Why is there options that say premium if you can’t even pay for a premium. How am I supposed to play DrawSomethingClassic anymore? I realized there is a different app for $3. I assume that’s premium, still weird to have premium option in game but can’t buy it. Why is there no premium option in game when you can only coins, and as expensive as the coin system works it’s worthless to buy.

I enjoy playing this game with my girlfriend who is living out of state. We’ve been passing drawings for less than month and already, words are repeating. No big deal. You can restart DrawSomethingClassic to get new ones without having to spend coins-which are the reward-based feedback loop designed to hook people. My biggest problem with DrawSomethingClassic are the ads, which are far too often, far too long, and often can’t be skipped. Many are not even in my language. I couldn’t tell you what a single one is for, because I never watch them. I’m not interested in any ad. I’ve bought or downloaded anything because of an ad. They are a waste of my time. This is why I’m so frustrated with this game and it’s creators. I enjoy this game. I would spend money to buy it, but no, that’s not an option. The creators would rather pester me with ads, and try to sucker me into passing the game to more people so they can pester them with ads. Inviting people to join doesn’t remove ads permanently, which effectively makes this game a pyramid scheme built around ad revenue.

This is such a great game and idea! I play with my brother and it’s so fun for us. I love the challenges. Most of those artists are top notch!
I adore all the colors that you can get. That makes me want to draw more detail as it’s so easy and fun to draw on my ipad pro. I would give this 6 stars (lol) but it runs out of ink before I can finish my drawing. That’s frustrating. It would be great if there was a way to be able to get more ink when you need it. Also, it would be awesome to be able to save games to a cloud or photos or something. I like looking back at the old games.
The only other issue is that sometimes, I’m noticing bombs disappearing when I haven’t used them. Those bombs are important because sometimes, there's no way to guess the word otherwise, especially in the challenges. Some of those words, I never heard of or are somewhat impossible to draw.
It might be fun to be able to log into different difficulty levels as well.

the only thing that drives me crazy! Is that when u are messaging someone and you try to read what they say it goes away way to quick! Why can’t you guys do like other games where you can actually have conversation with the other players like words with friends you can message them before or during or even after the game! It’s quite embarrassing when u someone messages you... and you have no idea what they even said! Or sometimes you don’t even know you even got a message! Anyways hope with a new update you guys will fix this! Thank you :)

And also what the heck is up with all these ads? I had this game before and never did I have so many annoying ads! When I downloaded it before I don’t even remember it having any ads... I don’t mind a few popping up here and there but this is outrageous 😒 but other then the messaging and way to many ads I absolutely love love love this game!! 😍😃

I myself? NOT a very good artist. But these players on the game are even worse. I mean some of them are good, so no offense to those who have played me before, but it just makes it real hard to guess, which I think people think that’s what’s fun in the game. It really is fun, but when I had to get ads or purchase bombs with actual money, I decided I’d just destroy it. I really think that they should give you more chances! Three chances on each level before you have to get bombs. Maybe that’s how they make their money and the other people pay to put their ads on it. They are just SOOOOO annoying! If the person who is reading this created the game, please tell the players to actually TRY to make the item. Once, a player was supposed to draw lightning (Which I found out later) but they drew RAINSTORM instead! It made it so confusing especially because they have the same number of letters! I was like, “Why can’t I find the other R?” PLEASE fix the game, because right now, it’s HORRIBLE! 😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢😢 P.S: I was excited to get the game and expected more! Someday I’ll make a way better game! I love the original and classic Draw Something. But I miss Draw Something 2 where not only could you play with random people and friends for them to guess your drawing and vice versa, but you also could use so many different tools and also had the option to draw and make a creation of your own just for yourself and for people to see. They could check out your online artwork and for me, this is what I miss and want back the most! =)
Many of us don’t have a way of drawing online and Draw Something 2 gave us that platform to express ourselves. Also, I can’t even go in DrawSomethingClassic and at least screen cap or save the works of art I created that took many, many hours to make.
Please consider bringing that app back as we’d all truly and would greatly appreciate it! 😀💖😀

I’ve been hooked since 2012. Couple months ago, something changed. The one I was playing had a different category than I did, and vice versa. We both prefer to play the higher coin draws. It was great, because I had no idea what he was drawing (I hadn’t seen the same list he was working from). It was short lived, however. Now we both are working from the same list, so by the very first line he draws I can practically guess the word (we are both guessing from the same 7-8 words). There’s only so many ways to draw the same 8 words against each other. Apparently they renew after 24 hours. Not nearly soon enough. We have discovered little tricks to find more words, but it only gives us a few more words to choose from, that we both see ahead of time. Come on, I know you can make it better. Thx.

This game is great!! There are only three things that I dislike about it! First things first there aren’t as many ads
but that’s not what I hate it’s the length of the ads there are some ads that are like 5-10 seconds but most the time the ads are up to 40 seconds! And I hate that! The other thing that I would like to be fixed is the fact that once you finish the tournament event thing you have to play with people!i like playing with others but most the people aren’t active! The last thing is that when you are guessing others drawings most of them just write what the word is! They don’t even draw a picture!! I mean sure most people wouldn’t mind but it takes the fun out of the entire thing!! That’s all! Other than those problems it’s a wonderful game and I highly recommend!! 🥸😎🤪🙂😄

I convinced my sister and cousin to play with me since we live hours apart from each other and don’t see each other often. It helps us feel a little more connected. Just recently my youngest sister’s mom saw me playing this game and it intrigued her. However, she doesn’t speak, read or write English. She can understand some words and sometimes translate. She likes the idea of the game and wants to play, but when we downloaded the game switched the language only the settings changed languages. Not the actual ‘play’ (?) words. I saw her enthusiasm immediately drop when 3 options came up all in English. I think it would be nice and possibly even expand the amount of users if options to draw in other languages was available. Not just the settings and interface.

I only want to be notified when someone I am actually playing a game with serves me back my turn.

However I receive about 1-5 notifications every few hours, seems like.

I HAVE turned off notifications about events and such from within DrawSomethingClassic , but to no avail.

And like I said, I still do want to be notified when it’s my turn on a game I’m actually playing, so I didn’t turn off notifications completely. But I’m still constantly getting notifications about games they suggest I play, even for game offers that I already deleted.

I deleted the offer to play with “Pamela C.” two weeks ago, why are you STILL telling me it’s my turn multiple times a day? That game isn’t even on my list anymore! I CANNOT PLAY IT. Moreover, I deleted it because I didn’t WANT to play it. The game should take the hint and leave me alone about it.

Why is it practically begging me to play on your app with multiple notifications a day? “We are eagerly awaiting you!” Omg STOP. Few other apps are this persistent for a reason- it gets them deleted or forgotten once people shut notifications down completely.

In terms of game play, the three words they give you to choose from are tame and boring and easy. It would be way more fun if there were an option to choose from many or make up your own.

I played this game when I was like six and deleted it for more storage. I was a really bad artist 😂 So somebody resigned on my drawing and whenever the gray went over the screen I would get exited out of DrawSomethingClassic for no reason and it was really getting on my nerves. And, I don't have the ability to remove them from my games list where you play with other people and that is so annoying, also I was able to remove someone else from the "your turn" list but I couldn't remove the person who was causing me to exit out of DrawSomethingClassic . Otherwise... it's a great challenging app and I love it! My brother reminded me that I played this game because he installed it and he wanted to challenge me !!

I’ve been playing this off and on for years now. It’s pretty fun. I have all the color packs at this point but a lot of the colors from one pack to another are the same, meaning you have to scroll through tons of repeating colors to find one you are looking for. Please consider a way to allow us to organize our colors. Also it would be really great if there was a better way to chat with our friends. The way it is now is terrible, it scrolls too fast to see what they wrote if it’s more than a few words and once you’ve read it it’s gone for good. There should be a chat room. Finally, please consider allowing us to gift coins to friends. I have over 5,000 coins and nothing to spend them on since I have all the colors. Would love to give some to my youngest son so he can buy some colors.

I have a hard time finding anyone to play with it seems every player has given up on DrawSomethingClassic? It has new issues too way way way way WAY too many ads for no good reason and the same stupid ad on and on over and over. I do not want to watch your ads. People don’t like ads and it’s time app developers learn that. They may as well also realize people don’t watch the ads! they look away while it’s playing and do other things until it’s done, or we stare at the corner waiting for the X. No one cares about the advertised item or app. Sorry. Do people still actually believe that ads cause folks to download or buy anything? The ONLY ads worth anything are ones that give in game items or coins or some benefit to the player. (And even those ads no one watches when they play)

Today I am here to discuss with you the abomination that is called “Draw Something”. This is a game in which you guess what your friends are drawing. The concept is very interesting and the gameplay is very addicting. However, this game is plagued with ads. After every turn you play, you are greeted by a 30 second ad, which is only skippable after 5 or 10 seconds. You may be thinking to yourself, “Five seconds is not really a long amount of time, right?” That is true, but when you have to spend five seconds after every 30 to 60 second round, the time watching ads gets bigger and bigger. One would say that this game is 50% ads and 50% gameplay, which is very true. Do not waste your precious storage on this “game” (more like interactive advertisement), and get something worth your time. Thank you for reading this review.

I absolutely love this game, the only thing that I do not like is that it will pair you with random people (which is also fine), but some of the people don’t even try to draw or they will just draw plain old nasty stuff. **Not acceptable considering this is also a game kids play!** Another thing I don’t like is that when you go to draw something special, the ones that cost bombs, I wish there was a back option because I clicked on a special section one time and it cost me two bombs and I did not know how to draw anything on that list and couldn’t go back to the other options to draw something else. Lastly, I do not like how you can just press the undo button once unless you repeatedly pick up the pen and put it back down to draw...Then I have to end up trashing the whole drawing and start all over again, that is so aggravating!!! Need to fix

This game is really fun... but there are several problems that NEED to be fixed. One problem is that when I️ was playing the guessing game, I️ used a bomb to help me guess. When I️ presses ‘continue later’, I️ went out of it. When I️ went back in 5 minutes later, the bomb I️ had used was gone!! It was not fair because it should’ve still been there... I️ spent a bomb on that level!! Another problem is that there are a lot of scams. A white screen will pop up and it will say, “you are the winner of...” and things like that. Something very inappropriate popped up as well, but I️ won’t get into details. Overall, this game is 3 stars because it is SO addicting! You can get colors, etc. in the coin shop (not real money.) I️ suggest this game... but ONLY if they fix those annoying and horrible bugs! Thanks!
