Great Digital Mag

Review update as of Dec 2017: the update has not been good on my iPad - this may be due to the fact I have an old iPad but now every page takes a few seconds to load even after I've downloaded it for offline use. Also lots of glitches and HealthMagazine gets frozen often. Not sure if any others have experienced this as well. Same feelings about Cooking Light as user interface is the same.

Previous review:
I think it's great; I've been a digital subscriber on iPad for over a year now and have not had any issues. The only areas of improvement I can think of is speed of downloading (currently it takes a bit of time), and the fact that you have to have the issue fully downloaded before you can view it offline. Other than that I really have had no issues; it's been great!

Love it.

Just bought an iPad and this is the first magazine I've read on a tablet and I loved it. I am a print subscriber and very much appreciate the access to the electronic edition. I suspect when I renew I will just go for the electronic edition. I read through this month's magazine with my print edition by my side to see if there was anything missing, and there wasn't. I love the convenience of having it on my iPad and I love the beautiful pictures and layout. Very nicely done. Please add an option to bookmark a page or pages.

Great Update

Once I logged back in and restored my purchases everything worked great. Love the new web articles page and I like the reader view a lot. No more pinch and zoom to read!

Just so-so

HealthMagazine doesn't seem optimized for iPad/tablet use. The pages don't scroll downward; instead, you flip pages left to right like you would an actual magazine.

Also, it's not very interactive. Links aren't activated, so you can't simply navigate to a webpage from HealthMagazine - you have to copy, load your browser and paste the link. Additionally, exercise photos are static. With some other magazines, you can click the exercise image to see a model go through the movements.

Health should take a look at the Glamour and Self apps for best practices.

Tablet edition

I have had a Health subscription for a very long time and was very excited when the tablet version became available. Imagine my disappointment when there is always an issue when I try to download the new issue. I had a Nook and switched to an iPad. I've lost all my previous issues and cannot download new issues. When I contacted customer service for Health, I got directions on how to "hard boot" my iPad. That is not the problem--I have 2 other magazines that load every month. Health is sitting on the bookshelf and I cannot open it. Do not like the Health app.
I gave one star because I had to.

Terrible support

Was working on my iPad for a year. Then my son bought a subscription for me so I didn't renew my original one. Now when I try to download a new edition it tells me I have full digital access but won't download the magazine. I've tried customer support but only get a message saying I have full digital access. Full circle stupidity. I've put in all the correct information for the new subscription, changed my password, deleted and reinstalled HealthMagazine , nothing works. I can read my hard copy but I like to have the digital version when I travel, which is a lot.

Room to improve

Wish HealthMagazine was more interactive with links for more info on what your looking at. If I would like to share a page on email, that would be nice.
Like it that the pages turn as if your looking at a real magazine. Maybe they will do updates as they get up and running. Great mag to have on my iPad for something to read and refer back too.

Follow up review

This is a follow up from last fall. Still one star. I said I would not return to Health, still stands. Once my subscriptions ends, I am finished with this magazine and app. I only ever managed to download one mag, after that I was offered the option ( when able) to download another for an additional fee of $4.99. No fear, I thought the idea of a prepaid subscription was to avoid individual charges. An email of complaint didn't work. I was told to be patient. I think enough time has passed to work out kinks.

Good content, horrid digital layout

I really like the content of Health magazine. Great articles, tips, and recipes. But they totally failed in translating the content to a digital format. It's the exact same layout as the print magazine which doesn't work well on a small screen. They need to go back and reformat their content to work for iOS. Please hire some digital editors designers to help readers have a better experience. I'd rather read the print copy than HealthMagazine version.

Issues Resolved

Thanks to the prompt response from the developers, the issue has been resolved satisfactorily & I can now access my magazines. From what I can see, my new account number on my print magazine label had 10 digits instead of the 9 asked for by HealthMagazine . Happy to have access again.

Worked great for me

I read some of the other reviews but I had no trouble downloading and reading. Don't let the negative review stop you from giving it a try. One suggestion, make sure you check the settings in the account you create. I had to re-download several issues.

Hate this app

Updated...lost previous magazines loaded...didn't know I had to select ALL the magazines I wanted to download at one time....I cannot find " library icon" mentioned! Extremely frustrating and not user friendly!!!! Agree with password looping..took me forever to get it to work....HATE THIS new improvement??? I'm a novice to technology and at this rate will be for a loooong time. Obviously don't want honest review...keeps telling me to pick new nickname and no way all I have tried are taken!

Lacks Flexibility

I am not too happy with HealthMagazine . You can't bookmark a page and the links are not active. If you scroll to another section from a page (I.e. pg 5) that launches pages out of sequence you can't return back to where you left off (I.e. going back to pg 5). You also can't zoom in and out to make text bigger. These examples would be ideal when reading from an iPad. Zinio is a better avenue in my opinion.

Moved to Newsstand

I finally found where my magazines went. There isn't an app anymore, but the magazines are in the Newsstand now. Only the most recent downloaded issue shows. But if you open the issue, click on Library on the menu bar at the bottom and the other issues will be there.

This is a great App.

I like the content of HealthMagazine very much. The magazine covers all of the health and fitness questions I typically need answered and the information and images are appealingly presented. The content shows up on my iPhone easily.
