Stream stops, doesn’t restart despite good signal. Fix or remove

I’m a member and active listener. KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio cuts out repeatedly. Every time it forces you to listen to all the underwriter’s ads. Very frustrating. Back to NPR One.

I love KUOW content and programming, but KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio is very bad. It stops playing whenever you switch from WiFi to LTE, which of course I do every day as I leave my house for work. The only way to get it to start playing again is to force-quit KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio and re-open it. This has been an ongoing issue for over a year. And starting yesterday, KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio just crashes as soon as I open it and there isn’t anything I can do at all.

It’s great to have this available for KUOW but the most frustrating part of KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio is that it’s streaming is always terrible. It repeatedly stops and “loads” and cuts again and again. Tried using cell data and multiple different WiFi networks but still happens. Hope that can be improved makes using KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio pointless.

Why did it take me 10 minutes to give up on trying to find the weekly schedule on KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio ? Which then forced to to use the website which obviated the need for an app. And then on the website schedule listing, none of the shows were hyperlinked.

I’m a supporter of KUOW and wish KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio would cut out or shorten the leading ads every time you open KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio . The same ones repeat. Also when you use KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio and then your timer or alarm goes off or you use snooze you have to re log on. They don’t work together. Wish that would be fixed.

After all these years, you’d think a radio app would be able to stream the radio.

KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio used to work really well—until recently. The new update drops after a few minutes. I’ve deleted and reinstalled several times to no avail. I used to use KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio all the time and really miss not having KUOW available to me. Please fix it! Thanks.

App doesn’t work 50% of the time. Continually have to stop and restart app.

KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio is barely useable. If the connection is lost the only way to reconnect is to force KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio closed and restart it. The external controls are not functional and the internal controls will not work when a connection is lost.

I love being able to live stream KUOW to my phone. If I’m listening to a great story while driving and arrive at my destination, I can continue listening on my phone. Unfortunately, the streaming gets interrupted whenever my phone changes data source. Moving between cell towers? Stream dropped. Phone switching from Wi-Fi to cellular or vice versa? Buh-bye stream. Every other streaming app I use has much more robust signal switching/buffering capabilities. Hope KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio can catch up.

It works, but not as well as it once did. At least I can listen to KUOW via my mobile when other means are not available. >>> I mostly miss having a ‘Sleep Timer’ that was part of older versions. Streaming stops when switching between WiFi and LTE. It doesn’t start playing after the connection switches. You have to quit KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio completely and restart it.
I honestly find the layout quite confusing too.

As an avid NPR listener, I loved KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio. I could easily stream while running or just doing stuff around the house.

Unfortunately, it took up nearly half the storage on my phone (29GB), and I couldn’t justify having it any longer. It’s a shame because I love the streaming convenience, but I can’t justify the massive amount of storage it takes up.

I really appreciate being able to listen to KUOW live on my phone without navigating to the website each time. I also enjoy reading the text of some of the stories I hear on the radio and accessing content I may have missed, otherwise. However, a major downside of KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio is that none of the episodes of the KUOW podcasts I regularly listen to have been added since August. They’re available if I go to the KUOW website, though. I’ve checked if I missed an update of KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio , and I have the most recent version. I tried deleting and re-installing KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio to no avail, as well. I would use KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio much more often if this problem was fixed. Thank you!

KUOW push an update on 12 Sep 17 that on initial use seem to have addressed the multi-tasking issue. While I've not check to see if these fixes work on the iPhone, on the iPad, the crash issues when another audio/video stream plays aren't crashing KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio . This looks like a step in the right direction and could resolve all the issues I had with the previous patch.

The KUOW app has never multitasked well, but while the previous version of KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio was temperamental in its bugginess, this latest version pretty much demands that you launch KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio and do nothing else on your iOS device for fear that you crash, stall or otherwise interrupt the playback stream.
If you launch, visit, or stumble upon another app that has any audio or video component it will interrupt the KUOW stream and crash KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio . Safari sites with auto play ads are particularly culpable.

The new look is a pleasant update and the organizational layout an improvement but until KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio learns to play well with others it will be a buggy mess.

Airplay support is frustrating. Cannot start radio stream when connected to airplay, app plays an ad, then dies. Have to start stream on device, then select where to airplay to.

The stream often cuts out making it extremely frustrating to try and listen to.

I usually don’t have much trouble with it, but when I do, there is no way to report issues or get help. The link to app support in KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio Store is broken and there is nothing on the actual app to contact support.

Who else gets goose bumps when they here these suspenceful words, “Live from NPR in Washington, I’m Lakshmi Sayyy![Singh]” Ok KUOW - All - All - All the shows are so good! Now that I have KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio I can slowly wake up to the radio news, not just here the news in the car while franticly manuevering through the rush hour traffic. Two years ago I discovered this station 94.9 in Seattle, or KUOW. Before that how did I live? Well, holding my breath till a snippet of reputable news came my way prob from 89.9 or something. Thank you!!!

I use KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio often but it usually sends me to cussing. The streaming is frequently interrupted and often can’t restart without closing KUOWPugetSoundPublicRadio for a few minutes.
