Disapointing, especially for the Cost

Would be so much easier if it showed you the plural Form. Would also be much better if it just recognized German or English Words as you Type like other aps. The anagram function does not seem useful. The Leo ap is much quicker and free. Wish I found it first.

Terrible

Absolutely terrible. No acc/dat/gen/plural
Unusable.

Waste of Money

I was expecting a lot more functionality from BigGermanEnglishDictionary based on the rather steep price I paid for it. I've used BigGermanEnglishDictionary to look up words and numerous times have ended up going to the web (which is free) to find what I need. For example, I just tried to look up the word "hielten." BigGermanEnglishDictionary did not recognize it at all. I went to Safari and found three web sites that told me that "hielten" is the first and third person plural preterite and subjunctive of the verb "halten."

I regret purchasing BigGermanEnglishDictionary.

Like a lot

Flash card feature greatly appreciated.
Like being able to use when abroad and not connected to phone/Internet.
Translations useful.
Highly recommended.

Thumbs up!

It works, lists a lot of vocabulary and helps me a lot when travelling around my family' birth country Germany. What is really great: Listen to native sounds. All in all: Thumbs up!

No Plurals! DO NOT BUY!

This edition does not include plural forms for nouns. Note that their more expensive editions do. They have this information, they've just deliberately hobbled their cheaper offerings, perhaps hoping you'll shell out another $50+ once you learn enough German to realize that a dictionary without plural forms is pretty useless. This is a shabby way to treat your customers.

weak update

New iOS7-like icon, but BigGermanEnglishDictionary design is still the same? Come on you can do better for such an expensive app!
Otherwise good app, more stars when updated.

Plurals and Conjugations

App is great but would be perfect if there are plural versions of the words and also verb conjugations. It is an expensive app and these can be easlisy imported to BigGermanEnglishDictionary.

Decent, but Missing Some Features

I've recently purchased Langenscheidt's Standard German - English dictionary app for iOS.

It’s a decent collection of over 70,000 word entries and definitions, but I have the following suggestions for improving BigGermanEnglishDictionary :

1. Include plural spellings and genitive endings for all German nouns.

2. Include verb conjugation tables for all German verbs. For some reason, the English verb conjugation tables are available, but the tables for the German verbs are not.

3. Make it possible for the user to save multiple, custom flash card stacks, so that one may have a stack focusing prepositions, a stack focusing on a particular set of verbs, another stack focusing on a set of nouns, etc. Currently, there is just one configurable flash card stack.

4. Include pre-loaded flash card stacks for typical areas of study (e.g., accusative prepositions, or dative prepositions).

5. Bring the interface into alignment with the new look and feel of iOS 7.

Translate

Not significantly more useful than many lower cost apps. Agree with previous reviewers the lack of plural and conjugations seems like a basic oversight.

Don't buy & don't waste your money

No German verb conjugation. Not even the preterite or the perfect. Word formation? Who needs that in German. Definitions are very limited. Very poor examples. Too expensive for what BigGermanEnglishDictionary does. It should be free!

Do not buy if trying to learn German.

Do not buy if trying to learn German. The translations and information to German are not strong - lack of plural German nouns - lack of conjugated German verbs!

Gut

I think it is good.

Buyer beware!

No German plural nouns - seriously!? No verb conjugation is also annoying. I bought this to replace my pocket dictionary; it doesn't.

Free/ Kostenlos!!!!

Endlich ist diese Application kostenlos. Ich habe lange darauf gewartet und jetzt besitze ich sie:D

Expensive for what you get

On the good side there are 365000 entries. But, since this is an English-German dictionary then only about half are German words. Still, that is a decent number given that others contain 50,000 or fewer German words. When you are offline that can make a big difference.
On the negative side is the absence of noun plurals and this is a big deal! Many German nouns take on very different forms which makes looking up the word you want challenging. For any serious German student noun plural listings are a must have.
I wound up having to purchase both the German dictionary -- it contains noun plural endings-- and the German-English dictionary so that I have a more complete resource for learning German. Unfortunately the German dictionary only has 60,000 words.

So limited for the $$ spent

I agree with the other reviews, there could be so much more built into BigGermanEnglishDictionary. You get more help from Leo, which you can download for free. I was most disappointed with the almost zero effort on verb conjugation - if you don’t enter the infinitive, good luck, and no partizip II will be offered. I also hit the limit on my “flash cards”??? Buy Verbix and Leo combined would be great.

Over charged

This item was offered on sale for $19.95 prior to May 1, which I was happy to pay,and ordered on April 28.
However when the billing was posted, and charged to my account the full amount was chaged. Perhaps
someone will contact me to correct this error.
