Updated: discarding this app. Second paragraph explains why.
This looks like a good app but my first time using it I was shocked and very disappointed. An ad penetrated and totally took over the screen and then was followed immediately by another one. It was not obvious till I flipped through a few screens how to exit it. I’ve never seen anything like this before on any app and I don’t want to again. I’ll give this app another chance but if this happens again I’ll delete it and just stick with the simpler but ad-free CalJ.
The developer’s only response to these issues is “we don’t fully control ads” and “try our subscription”. I have a lot of apps and I’ve never seen ads that just totally hijack an app like this. You can’t tell me you can’t control this. Why should I pay you when you show such little respect for your users? I wouldn’t know whether I want the subscription till I try out the free version. But I can’t because the ads totally take over and it isn’t easy to make them go away. Well, actually it is: throw away the app. Which I’ll do right now.

Rather shocked when I opened the app to pray and an ad for a “game” came on which consisted of dressing a woman wearing very little clothing prior to a man entering her apartment with flowers. He looked at her, shrieked and fled - and the ad implored us to “help the girl”. Awful violation of tznius on several levels, incredibly sexist and disrespectful of women. How could you allow this in the same app with Torah texts? This ad desecrates Torah and traditional Jewish values. Shame on you.

I really want to love this app. I can see there is lots of wonderful information but the vast majority is only in Hebrew. I have read the reviews and I have tried the suggestions by the developer. They don’t work. If you click daily from the main calendar page it brings you to Sefaria. It does not really give you the prayers in English. There is no way to read and understand the majority of the site unless you already know Hebrew. I tried out support and even that is 100% in Hebrew. I think this is not meant for English speakers or anything but Hebrew speakers. My entire device is all set in English and that did not change what I see on this app. I follow that advice from the reviews also. Nothing I can find works. I also think there should be an option to pay some amount per year besides the amount per month.
