Tried this app out tonight, and instead of helping my insomnia, it caused it. I woke up at 1am because the sound turned off. My groggy brain turned it back on and I fell back asleep. Woke up again at 3am because the sound turned off. Apparently, there’s an automatic two hour timer that you can’t turn off unless you pay. Sneaky. Other subscription noise apps at least tell you there’s a time limit. Not this one - and I downloaded it because it didn’t appear to have a timer. So here I am, 4:30am, still awake, on the couch so I don’t wake up my husband, and will probably still be awake when his alarm goes off at 6. Do yourself a favor and scroll down in the App Store. There’s plenty of truely free brown noise apps. Maybe I’ll sleep better tomorrow night with one of those.

There’s better apps out there that don’t have an absolutely insane price tag for basic functions, like mynoise. Why would anyone pay $60 per year (yeah per year, as in reccuring payment) when you could get something for both less and has controls to adjust sound. You can only have it playing for 1 hour max, which also stops if you exit the app, unless you for some reason want to pay $60 for that extremely simple function. Whoever is rating this 5 stars is either rich or thinks that this is the only way they can have brown noise playing for one hour.

While the sound does help me sleep on this, I’m pretty sure I could find a free version.
For the hefty annual price tag I would expect to be able to do a couple simple things. 1. I can’t close my phone while the app is playing or it turns off. Even though I can see the play option similar to my music apps. 2. I can’t play this in the background while executing other functions on my phone. Some of the sounds are supposed to be beneficial for concentration. But if you can’t use it as background noise while doing a simple task like reading emails, what’s the point.
