this app is a featureful, intuitive, and fast HN reader that does everything I need and more.

The developer is super responsive to feedback and actually implemented a feature I requested (ability to change the default web browser) within a day or two. Amazing!

Highly recommended app, I suggest if you enjoy it to purchase the $4.99 in-app purchase to support further development. HACK ’s value far exceeds this cost.

No purchase needed, no ads. Probably will pay the $5 to support the dev, though, because this kind of functionality is rare for ios apps without either ads or in-app purchases. Quite the hidden gem. Lots of settings to choose from.

I especially like being able to select the text of a comment to copy by long-pressing on a comment, and from there, there are a lot of options, including copying the text as a whole, or selecting a certain part of the text as it pops up with the options.

Now will look for other apps made by this dev!

Edit: decided to purchase, it’s worth it

It has all of the functionality I want (including customization options, like disabling favicons, which I find distacting). I'm very happy with this reader. The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is that the apps performance (scrolling, navigation) suffers greatly when HACK is in macOS full screen mode. Hopefully this is something the developer will look into for a future update! Thanks again!

The HN website is easy enough to use on mobile, but this app honestly makes it so much more enjoyable. The customization is insane and fits my love of having a bespoke experience. Developer is active and exceptionally fast to respond. If you use HN and like checking it out in your phone you’re doing a disservice not browsing it via this app.

After checking out more then 5 different apps this app ended up being the winner.

BONUS -
I stumbled on a bug where “procrastination feature” would result in blank pages, developer was very responsive and added feature to roadmap.

I don’t usually leave reviews but this is the one app where the one time purchase was the best thing I’ve ever done. HACK is so smooth, looks beautiful, and has a ton of customization. I’d highly recommend HACK to anyone interested in reading hackernews on their iPhone.

HACK is worth the money if you enjoy reading YCombinator Hacker News. I've tried all of the various apps for HN and this is by far the best of the entire class. HACK is clean, fast, customizable and best of all the developer is very active in pushing out improvements and responding to feedback.

Overall HACK is very good! Thank you for making it.

Ok, on to the the things that need to be fixed.

First and foremost, sometimes clicking the back button freezes HACK and makes me force close and restart before it becomes responsive again. This is super annoying and has happened 7 times in the last 5 minutes.

Secondly, this one is less of a major issue but more of an annoyance. It’s really hard to upvote a comment without it collapsing it. I have to try 3-5 times before I actually am able to click the upvote instead of collapsing.

I have no major gripes with HACK. It's a fine way to browse Hacker News. I recommend it!

The only real complaint I have is I often collapse comments on accident, since all you have to do to do this is tap them.

Holy moly this thing is great. It's pretty good out of the box but I bought the one-time $5 support purchase thing and the customization options are amazing. I've got it down to almost exactly how I want a hackernews client without coding my own. Great job!

HACK is designed with iOS design patterns in mind and is a joy to use, kind of like Apollo for Reddit. I don’t pay for an app unless I really think the developer deserves it and I think I’m gonna bite the bullet and purchase the premium for this one.

I switched to this app after an update to HN broke my old reader. It has been fast and reliable, and has many options to customize the display.

Only app I’ve reviewed. This one is good. It’s really clean, intuitive, & full featured, and it is ad free. Honestly this is how iOS apps should be. Absolutely an upgrade to the website on a mobile device.

Tried a few hacker news clients, this one was most intuitive to use. Gave it 5 stars until HACK froze after sending a few links to the browser. Hopefully the problem will get resolved soon.

Quality of app is great, has all the features that I need. Communication with developer is quick and I could tell he really cares about HACK .

I absolutely loved HACK, but it’s no longer loading any of the content.

This is the best HN app I’ve found. The developer is super responsive, HACK is very well designed, and even the non-premium app is very full featured. I of course recommend going premium to support amazing people like Pran!

After the 1.4 update every complaint I had with HACK is addressed. By far my favorite way to read hacker news.
