TALL Embark Language Learning Reviews

It’s good overall but I’m in the Japanese section and TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning would say I got the match up answers wrong because I didn’t match it up with the katakana instead of the hiragana (they’re both the same exact sounds just different alphabets). I don’t want to go back through and rematch everything because TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning developers didn’t have multiple options for correct answers. I appreciate that TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning exists but it makes language learning so much harder when you overlook simple details like this.

I’ve had trouble off and on since I started using TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning several months ago. Lately it has worked great until I updated it today. Now it won’t open, all I get the the embark opening screen and it doesn’t load anything. It is the same on my phone and iPad. I’m a senior missionary with little Spanish in Argentina and am working hard to learn the language. This was my best resource for studying on my own and now isn’t working at all. Please help! P

I really want TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning to work! As of yet, I can’t give too many stars because it seems there is a lot to work through. But I’m determined to stay with it in hopes that TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning designers can work things out. I’m not sure if I’m doing things wrong or if there is a bug to work out but I will say the word into my microphone and that works fine. Then I try to spell the word and I’m figuring it out as I go but specifically learning how to navigate the Japanese board it really difficult. Then once I do get the word correctly and the bar turns green, there is no way for me to move forward. It just stays there. I try to collapse the keyboard to see if there is a go button but the board will not collapse. So I am not able to progress.

I really like TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning and it has been very helpful for learning Spanish before starting my mission. What is taught is very applicable to how I will be using the language and the spaced review is a great way to solidify my learning. However, TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning itself is so frustrating because it rarely works smoothly for me. Opening TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning takes a long time and it often tries to download all the content, but takes forever and doesn’t work so it tries it again every time. Sometimes I never get past the loading screen. Another bug I’ve run into is sometimes I search a word, and the search results aren’t correct, as the Spanish and English words don’t match each other.

If learning multiple languages at the same time TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning will work well. However you have to download all the language data every time you switch languages which is really a wretched flaw as it takes up time you could be studying.

Also if studying Tahitian some of the testing is problematic due to multiple sounds being identical to the text available.

There are two versions of Portuguese on TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning: Portuguese and Portuguese(Brazil). I’ve tried both and the Portuguese(Brazil) works great, but when I do the spaced review for the regular Portuguese the words that are being said and the word that is being shown don’t match up so it’s very difficult to learn the pronunciations. If someone could fix that so I can continue to use TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning to learn that would be awesome. I got called to serve in Portugal so I can’t use the Portuguese(Brazil) because they are slightly different in pronunciation and sounds.

I’m trying to learn Thai for my mission but for some reason there are letters that aren’t actually letters and when it asks me to match them based off of sound, there is no sound that plays.

I appreciate having a free app to learn Thai but I would like it more if it worked a little better.

Honestly, I’ve never worked I.T or coding (or any job really) but can I make a request for them (or whoever does the cool coding stuff) to plzplzplzplzplzplzplzPLEEEEEZZZZZ send out a patch?? I’m currently in the Japanese alphabet and as I’m being quizzed this thing happens where, I type in the answer (for example ウイ) and it tells me “NOOO ITSS ウイ!!!” (Okay maybe not exatly like that, but u get wut I’m saying!!) So can u plzzzzz fix it?? But other then that really cool app. Very fun to use!!!

TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning is great! The flash cards, spaced review, practices, and tests are an amazing way to learn a language (Japanese for me) and have been helping a lot. I have noticed one problem so far. When I am adding my own words to my own topics the keyboard will cover up the text box I’m typing in. It’s still usable but more difficult than it should be. Thanks for creating this wonderful tool and I hope this gets fixed soon.

When sharing a passage from gospel library to embark, it does the whole chapter instead of just what verse I highlight and share. Also it isn’t loading the missionary purpose statement anymore. Besides that it’s been working well for the most part.

I love TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning, and it came to pass that I was exceedingly astonished at how much better it is than Duolingo.

Besides the colors being all dark and boring, I have one critique. PLEASE for the love of all that is good and educational - make the streak reset at midnight instead of every 24 hours or whatever. I want every day to be a fresh start, not every 24 hours. It demotivates me the next day when my XP bar is already filled, but it’s a new day and I’d like to get in some daily Spanish study.

Por favor at least for the iOS version. I wouldn’t know if this is good for missionaries out in the field somehow (I’m heading for the MTC in a month), but no missionaries as far as I’m aware use iOS, so please make this change for your buddy Ashton.

I absolutely love TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning! However for the past few weeks it has not been functioning for me and I was wondering if someone could help. whenever I open TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning it’s stuck on the entry page and it doesn’t bring me to the actual material inside TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning . I have tried deleting re-downloading TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning . I have tried restarting my phone and deleting other apps on my phone so I have more storage and it’s still not working. Any clue why? And how I can fix it?

I am fluent in Chinese but wanted to prep for my mission learning the gospel words in Chinese because they were not taught to me in my 12 years of study. I like TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning but I wish it had a real person and not computerized tone reader for the mandarin section because it reads some words incorrectly and could be very misleading. I also don’t like how they took off the audio for this language since I like to compare my tones knowing it could be potentially wrong due to the computerized reader.

TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning has some really awesome features. It allows the user to learn a language from a huge selection of native languages. The developers are constantly working on improvements to increase the database. I have noticed that users can give feedback on any issues encountered and the developers work it out in a timely fashion. Creating something like this is impressive, but due to the vast amount of languages the developers have used the most common translations to make it the most widespread and diverse language app.

Amazing app!! Space review is amazing and helps a lot, love the games for you and your companions, overall TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning is great. I did not understand one bit that was not mentioned in the ‘How To Use Embark’ video. On the For You page it has a bit that says: ‘Daily Study Goal’ what is it for? What am I studying that it is tracking?

I am using TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning to learn Russian. It has been great so far and I am floored that they have made this material easy to access and use. I like the additional resources but can’t do much with them in their current digital form. If there was a way to edit the form and type information in that would stay and a notes section that would be a great quality of life upgrade. I would also like to print the resources and fill them out manually. Otherwise loving TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning .

I’m using this great app for English to Latvian, but all of my added words and phrases disappear and instead a yellow cloud symbol appears. I used to think I just needed WiFi to see these words and phrases, but now they just never show up at all, despite it telling me that I have added words / phrases.

Our ward has multilingualism, and we want to be able to help people that speak a different language feel welcome and understood. But, obviously most language learning apps like Duolingo etc. have very limited vocab terms and not the ones that we would use in church. I used to make this by myself, by going onto the church website, moving it into spanish/Portuguese, picking out the vocab words and using Quizlet to make vocabulary sets. Now time consuming process is done for me in a friendly and easy to use app. I think this is great for ministering, mission prep & member missionary work. Thanks so much! ☺️💛

I have used embark briefly before and it has wonderful resources for learning languages, but as of right now it is literally unusable. I open TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning , and it just sits on the first loading screen. If this were fixed, TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning would be an easy 5 stars. I am only giving it 3 stars because I know what it is and how good it is for learning languages. Once this issue is fixed, I will adjust my rating accordingly.

(EDIT) - BUG HAS BEEN FIXED! TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning works phenomenally, just make sure your IOS is updated to the most recent version!

TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning wouldn’t open on my phone, after leaving a review I was contacted several times to try to help me solve the problem. They suggested I make sure my phone was updated to the latest version of iOS and after doing so, TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning works great! I appreciate the timely assistance with the problem and for the work that has gone into making TALLEmbarkLanguageLearning available.
