I would like to say first that EllaVerbs is a WONDERFUL tool for beginner and intermediate students of Spanish that are trying to work on their conjugation skills (especially with the subjunctive mood and compound tenses); however, EllaVerbs focuses almost exclusively on learning common verbs and their possible conjugations. That is to say that EllaVerbs isn’t built to teach how to form proper sentences (outside of a few examples provided in the explanation at the beginning of each section), nor does it focus on pronunciation or grammar. As a side note, I am an advanced speaker of Spanish with a B2/C1 certification, and EllaVerbs still considers me an A1 after several days (even though I am nearing the last milestone). Overall, this is a decent app for learning conjugations and vocabulary, but I would stick with Duolingo for a better understanding of the language holistically.

I’ve been looking for an app like this for years. My Spanish has always been stunted by me only being able to conjugate in the present and some sometimes the past. EllaVerbs actually teaches me within minutes the proper way to do things. I’ve tried books, videos, you name it. It is well worth the money. Ella Verbs is the only thing that has worked for me the best. The only complaints I have are that I wish there was an option to leave the answer on the screen longer, and that you could miss 2 questions instead of one on the 30 question tests. I understand the tests are to make sure you know before advancing, but I feel like one question is a bit too much, especially when there is a slight typo sometimes. Thank you for this wonderful app!!

I didn’t realize how much I would like EllaVerbs when I started the free trial. It is evident a lot of thought and effort has gone into making it an excellent learning tool. There is some teaching of verb conjugation, but what I find most useful are the quizzes. Right now I am practicing using the quiz which presents example sentences with a verb missing (but you can see the infinitive) and you need to choose whether to use the preterite or imperfect past tense, and to write it out with correct accent marks. After you choose, the correct verb is spoken and written. Another favorite right now is choosing when to use ser and estar. The default settings use 100 common verbs, but apparently you can change those settings to over 1000 verbs. I haven’t used all the verb conjugation forms yet, but a quick perusal made me think they have them all. Highly satisfied, and hoping they will offer an affordable lifetime purchase option for EllaVerbs. Well worth your time to accept the free offer and try it out!

Back in the US, and EllaVerbs isn’t proceeding with an upgrade option. It simply says, Loading products. Help.

Best design layout ever! At this point, I have the free version because I am in Mexico, taking language classes, and my PayPal is being uncooperative. However, I want everyone to know how helpful the layout is of the conjugated verbs and the English conjugated meaning. I don’t have to necessarily remember if I am in the preterite or the Imperfect past or even future. The English tells me right away what I am looking for. After my 7 day free trial, I miss my access to all the verbs. I will get this straightened out when I am back in the US.

Language-learning apps such as Rocket, Babble, and Pimsleur (among others) are good for providing general instruction in Spanish. But if you need additional help (as I do) to understand Spanish verbs and verb conjugations, there is no resource better than Ella Verbs.

Verbs are the heart of the Spanish language. And Ella Verbs doesn’t only offer drills and exercises; it offers clear explanations of the underlying grammar, and it provides information on the patterns and logic of verb conjugations that can help the language learner assimilate them more quickly.

Of course, there are other apps which offer Spanish verb conjugations, and a few of them are quite good. But they are chiefly reference sources. They are great if you want to look up a given verb every now and then. But they don’t boost the user’s vocabulary and understanding.

And this is precisely where Ella Verbs excels.

Lastly, the people behind EllaVerbs are very responsive to constructive user feedback and requests for help. I simply cannot recommend EllaVerbs highly enough. It deserves a prominent place in your language learning strategies.

I’ve renewed my efforts to improve my Spanish in the last couple of years - I’m working with a tutor weekly, listen to an instructional podcast to improve my vocabulary and comprehension, read the news in Spanish aloud to work on my fluency. But I found myself needing some old-fashioned drills in verb conjugations to improve my fluency, and EllaVerbs fits the bill nicely. I can work with it when I have set aside some time for study, but can also pull it out when I’m in the line at the grocery store or the like and bang through a ten-part quiz. And the subscription price is extremely reasonable, so little to lose. Definitely recommend.

Having not spoken Spanish in some time, I realized I had forgotten some verb structures. There's nothing better for a review of the complex conjugations of Spanish verbs than EllaVerbs.

it's very well designed, allowing you to practice and be quizzed within a particular verb with all the conjugations required for every grammatical tense. It's also organized for practice within each grammatical tense using both regular and irregular verbs. The quizzes are very helpful, correct pronunciations supplied, along with practice with spelling and accent placement, which I desperately needed.

The free trial gives you plenty of time to scope it out. I found it a very effective learning tool and I highly recommend this app

Spanish verb conjugation can seem incredibly overwhelming to an English speaker. Verbs that follow a pattern are manageable to a degree, but the many irregular verb forms and slight spelling changes one must memorize are a real challenge. Ella verbs is perfect for this targeted learning. The quizzes are quick and customizable. A multiple choice format helps me think through the person/tense options while gaining recognition of how the correct word looks and sounds. Once that’s mastered I can move on to having to write the correct word myself. Interacting with the content this way is working well for me, far more so than the charts, notebooks, and drills I’d used in the past. EllaVerbs is well designed and definitely worth the price of the paid version.

I’ve tried for years to make progress with Spanish and nothing ever clicked. I would work for a few months and give up. I recently discovered Ella Verbs. In 22 consecutive days I’ve learned more than in all the years before. They have designed the perfect system and the perfect software to support it. You can’t help but learn the conjugations and spot the patterns. You will Internalize the verb endings without even realizing it. I have no connection to the developers and I’m not being paid to write this. I’ve never written a review before. I can assure you, this is THE way to master Spanish conjugations, and without knowing the conjugations, you have nothing. Go on, try it. You will be so glad you did.

I write reviews only in extremes. Extreme bad and extreme good. EllaVerbs has been so positive, I felt driven to write a review. Simply pressing 5 stars wasn’t enough.
This month I decided to focus in on my Spanish verbs. I was using several apps, several of which were Spanish verb apps. Within a week, I’ve stopped using the others because how well EllaVerbs lays out the structure, explanation, and practice sessions.
It’s approach allows a great range of freedom to learn in my way, while encouraging me to get in the reps in to really solidify the material.
It is clear the designers thought very carefully about its design and process.
My writing of this review is my way of saying ‘thank you’ to the creators of ‘Ella Verbs’ and I am so thankful for your creation. I wish you all the success!!

I just started EllaVerbs, it’s awesome & I’m excited I stumbled upon it! Sadly I recently invested in a lifelong plan to a different (name brand) Spanish language learning company, but got bored quickly and moved on. It was far too basic and didn’t challenge me in any way. To clarify, I’m somewhere near advanced & native speaker, but since I learned Spanish as a child, I’ve not only forgotten a lot, but I also never studied grammar, and now trying to maintain it as well as advance in both Italian and French, I realized that studying & understanding Spanish grammar would be the most logical way to go about it… cuz you know, those Latin/romance languages kind of stick together. So I’m super excited to have found Ella. It’s not only great for beginners to follow along at a self pace, but also great for intermediate and advanced. They break down everything very well, and explain in an easy to follow & detailed enough manner without overwhelming. Again, I’m super happy to have found Ella! Get it, try it, buy it, you’ll love it!! :D

I really like Ella verbs. I came from Duolingo and prefer Ella verbs a lot more because with Duolingo it is the same questions and verbs over and over and just like the other top viewer said, well past the point where I am ready to move on and have absorbed the information.

Ella verbs is simple and easy to use. There isn’t a lot going on as compared to Duolingo which I like a lot. I feel like with this I’m not learning new app functions even tho it’s my fifth or so day using it as compared to Duolingo where I’m finding new app functions (which for me is annoying)

For the learning part of Ella verbs I am always learning new verbs and new conjugation’s and don’t feel stagnate like with duo. I love how you can save the verbs too. I also love how I have the option to test out of the section and into a new section. It makes me more insightful because if I chose to test out then I’m missing more verbs I can learn from that section but I get to advance my learning.

Overall if you’re looking for moderate fast paced learning anywhere it’s different sentences that you’ll actually use plus a very simple user interface I would 100% get Ella verbs especially if you feel stagnate with Duolingo as I did.

I’ve tried quite a few books and apps to improve my Spanish and this is by far the best and most useful study aid. The explanations are clear, the quizzes are demanding (watch the accents!), and I love the fact that some quizzes display the verb forms in context. The program is progressively structured so you have a clear sense of goals and progress (as well as reminders to return for reinforcement). And most helpful of all is the ability to customize your study from a huge (and ever growing) library of verbs. This has been especially useful for me with the irregular verbs which are tedious to study on a page but come to life with the quizzes. Best of all, the developers seem very responsive to comments and are constantly improving it. I’m studying French, too, and have yet to find anything equivalent.

This is truly a learning app, going way beyond conventional flashcard programs. You can use the built-in quizzes, or customize by choosing which verbs, which tenses, and choosing the testing format. It shows you how well you are doing in each tense and prompts you when you need more practice in any of them. EllaVerbs is regularly updated with useful features, and the developers are very responsive to feedback over email.

EllaVerbs can be frustrating to use early on because it is very structured in unlocking a set sequence of tenses, making you prove basic competency in each tense before it will let you move on to the next. But it’s worth it if you stay with it. After a year, I’ve unlocked 12 tenses and practice them regularly. I am so much more confident now, it is amazing.

I was hesitant to buy EllaVerbs without trying it, but am so glad I did! It is easy to use and flexible, no nonsense but still feels fun. The way it divides learning verbs into categories like, stem-changing e to ie verbs or irregulars makes learning the verbs so much easier. I’ve heard this approach recommended by teachers (like the Spanish Dude) and have found it very helpful. Also the explanations of how to conjugate are concise but informative. EllaVerbs feels like it was written by a good teacher / Spanish enthusiast not just a developer trying to make a buck. Also I like the fact that you don’t have to go through a huge instructional phase before quizzing, you can dive right in or choose to read the tutorials.
One piece of info I couldn’t find before buying was what verb forms it includes. As of this review it has: Present, preterite, imperfect, past perfect, future, future perfect, conditional, conditional perfect, subjunctive, subjunctive imperative, subjunctive present perfect, subjunctive past perfect, and imperative. Each section divides up into regulars and irregulars, with irregulars divided up into logical sections as mentioned. There are also options for taking quizzes mixing verb forms as well as a quiz on the ones you’ve missed.
Very well thought out. Highly recommend.

When I first was asked question of whether or not I knew a verb tense, I was concerned that I was back to a method similar to Duolingo. Boy, I was wrong…

I received my placement, and jumped into the lessons. EllaVerbs has usage for each tense. The tense lessons not only tell you when to use them (shade is being thrown at a specific app 😂… yes this is a bit spicy) but also give you the equivalence in English! It is so hard to find this in any other major or well knew language learning app or website. I am hoping that the creators will gain the recognition they deserve because they are making the process of spooky and intimidating language learning not so daunting.

*this is also a wish from me to the creators… please create an app for French verb tenses and conjugations in the future. There are not many out there and the ones that are aren’t so great for your phone. You would be doing the lords work 🥹😅

If you’ve been let down by other Spanish apps, this one’s the keeper. EllaVerbs is the best Spanish app in researching, practicing, and mastering Spanish verbs. If I need to look up a verb, I use it as a dictionary and it gives me the context of every other verb usage in context. No other platform has this. Not only doesn it have its own teaching curriculum, it has custom quizzes and study guides to help you really understand every verb in every context. That sound overwhelming to you? No worries - just learn at your own pace and level. It also gives you a CEFR level diagnosis of where you skill level is based on your experience, skills, mistakes, and lessons. Wish every language had an app like this. Love me some Duolingo, but if Duo is your 10 minute treadmill run, this is hour CrossFit session for your Spanish learning (with a lot less judgement ha).

I have been using duo free to try to learn Spanish. We have a Spanish service at our church each Tuesday. I want to learn to talk with my new friends. Your program is fantastic. I’m only doing the free trial untill I know it well then if I can I will go on. I couldn’t understand the words changing… because of the tense… it was difficult for me so when I seen your program I thought I’d try. I love it because it explains the words in detail and explains why and how the endings changes. Thank you! It may take me a long time but I will understand it. Hopfully understand and talk it. Duo has helped me but I need to understand the words so I can speak and know what I am saying. I can read Spanish pretty good but need more understanding. It goes pretty fast I like going at my own pace … which isn’t very fast, I’m the tortoise in this learning experience😊I plan to learn to understand and speak it fluently🌺thank yal for letting all have the opportunity to learn while understanding clearly💘

As much as i absolutely love EllaVerbs and the way it’s structured along with the heart that’s put into EllaVerbs . There is one thing i am frustrated with. I am not able to play music while on EllaVerbs , watch videos etc. Even when my phones turned to silent and the setting is turned to”do not speak if on silent”. Sometimes i dont want to listen to the words, and just play music or watch a video in the background. i thought turning on silent mode would help, but every time you finish a question, it pauses the music or video you’re watching, and you’re either left with silence, forced to listen to the voice read the sentence aloud, or keep re playing your video or music for every question. I’m not sure if you guys are aware of this which is why i’m writing such a lengthy review😂😂 truly everything else is amazing!!! if you could please look into this and if it’s fixable that would be so so lovely. Thank you!

I’m so thrilled to find EllaVerbs. I have been studying Spanish on Duolingo for 10 years. It’s going well and my vocabulary is pretty excellent. But my verb conjugations were really poor and holding me back. I never learned the fundamentals. I’ve been looking for something like EllaVerbs. My daughter has been studying Spanish for ten years in the classroom and we just picked her up after a semester abroad in Spain. I absolutely loved the experience and want to go back for some immersion. This has fueled a desire to really get over the hump with fluency. I can already tell that your app is going to work.
