A ton of fun with a caveat

So Ive been playing this game for a bit now and I must admit it is a blast to play. Super easy and intuitive to learn and use, pick it up and put it down with ease. Perfect for someone like me who does not want to have to invest chunks of time playing if I don’t want to or can’t at the moment. So far, I do love the game. Ive not played long, but what I have has been a blast. What I don’t love is that between rounds, you win and claim coins to be used for upgraded items. They offer you 2 choices, take the coins or double your reward for watching a video. Cool, I’m down with that. The rub is that I don’t always want to double my reward, so I click just take coins. The issue I’m finding is that 90% of the time I’m being force fed an ad anyway without any reward. If I wanted to watch an ad, I would have chosen double my reward. I didn’t, so don’t force me to watch one. And I am choosing double my reward most of the time as it helps me build up quickly, so I’m not trying to avoid the ads. I just don’t want an ad between almost EVERY round as most ads are AS LONG as a round. That’s too high of a price to play this game. It shouldn’t be almost a 50/50 split between game and ads, thats way way too much. I don’t normally review games, but I do like this game and hope something can be done about all the ads so I can really fully enjoy this game.

Drill Game

Ok, good evening. I have been playing this game for about a week and have already surpassed both end of the bats challenge. I have all the bats and I feel as though it should be more. Also, maybe add a way to customize the ball, the batter and the environment to make the game even more entertaining. I think the windows should break when a ball hits it and the tree should just catch the ball when the two come into contact. You don’t really have to hit the ball perfect, sometimes it’s where you hit the ball. Another thing, what does the the colors around the ball after being hit perfect represent? Maybe add a special bonus skill in complement of the crucial extra bounces that you actually do get to make the game even more competitive. Why not add a challenge of up to maybe ten players, where players can add each other and escalate the competition of trying to hit the ball farther? This would allow players to compete for bonus cash, even more things to unlock, and bragging rights. This would go great being that I have gotten people to play and we all race to get to the end... Ps, there really shouldn’t be an end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To Many Issues

Before I go on a long explanation of all the things wrong with this game. I want to say that the developers did a good job at minimizing ads(or at least for now - knock on wood), but that is the only thing that is good about this game.
This game requires you to spend coins in order to improve your results of hitting, and therefore your level, which improves your stats. Within this continuous cycle, there are three things to purchase that directly “improve” your hits. One of them is the “bounciness”, and that leads me to the biggest and most annoying problem of the game: when you tap the screen to get the ball to bounce of the ground, once you have hit it, the ball will randomly hit nothing and fly up in the air. While it does this, it usually send your ball backwards decreasing the profit from your hit. I am not sure if this is a glitch, that the developers need to fix, or if it’s programmed scam in the game to keep you from “achieving” what you are “supposed to” do, thus keeping you playing longer. And if that’s the case developers; it just makes people delete the game.
Secondly the ball will randomly fly under the map, and will not reward your hit, but instead send you back to hit another ball. This is not as bad, and far less annoying than the first.
But hey, they had the skill to develop the game so what can I really complain about. Please just fix these problems so you don’t lose more of your audience. Thank you.

Fun but TERRIBLE BUGS

It’s fun to just mess around on. Like most other games from this dev, they ruin it with the amount of ads so you need to run it in airplane mode in order to enjoy it. Or just watch the ad to double your money every time since you have to watch half an ad at least anyway after EVERY swing (that’s right, they hit you with an AD after every single swing).

The worst part maybe though that even airplane mode can’t fix is that if you get a perfect hit, half the time your ball hits an invisible wall on the first bounce that actually sends the ball BACKWARDS. This also happens on the terrain. There’s little invisible berms or something that if you hit send the ball backwards at a rifles pace. Either that or it’s a 1px bump that you hit because it happens when the ball has a low bounce or is rolling a lot of the time.

Happens frequently with perfect hits though. So my furthest hits have NEVER been when I got a perfect hit. Which really ruins the point of the game because the one challenging part of it doesn’t reward you. This should be an easy, simple patch. So we’ll see if they fix it. Once they do, I’ll rewrite my review for a 2-3 stars. Decreasing the ads would raise it to a 4. Maybe an ad every 5 swings. Even then that’s a lot but it’s at least reasonable. Find other ways to monetize your games rather than flooding with a seriously hair-pulling amount of advertising.

The ads are only a fraction of the problem.

Ive noticed a new era of games, which require you to mindlessly tap away at your screen to “progress” through the game. Progression, however, is not an attribute the developer of this game had in mind. A matter of fact progression in a type of game such as this, is pointless. It all comes down to timing. If you can tap your screen at the right moment the game gives you the illusion that you overcome an challenge. In truth, the player has not progressed in anything. You hit the ball an infinite amount of times to acquire an infinite amount of money, to infinitely increase your stats. There is no end goal. There is no climax. Its repetitive, and games like this are made to pass time, mindlessly. Its less of a game, and acts more like a stress ball. You only play it when you’re notifications aren’t blowing up. In that case, this game is simply an “ad farm.” And developers of these types of games are “ad farmers.” All the revenue that this game makes is made by ads for other games. This is a counter-productive method in my opinion. What rational idea provokes the use of generating money from a game by promoting its competitors. Lets be honest, mobile game makers are in constant competition with one another and this game is a clear testament to that. A pointless, mindless, and insignificant game that would not deserve anyones time, unless they enjoy viewing adds, and enjoy a game that requires no skill.

Detailed Game Mechanics Review

The progression is fantastic. You can upgrade strength, speed, and bounce. Every time you upgrade them your stats improve by 10% and the cost of the next upgrade goes up by 20%. Every 1000 meters gives you a 5% strength boost and a 5% currency boost. Also every 1000 meters up to about 50k meters you will unlock a cosmetic bat upgrade. While you hit your ball around the map you will collect gems on the ground that are used to purchase cosmetic player upgrades.

DEVS: (in recent update: thank you so much for increasing the game speed. Unfortunately I think there is a bug in the game. I think it has to do with terrain generation. (Context: I have the iPhone 8 Plus, I closed out all apps on my phone including Baseball Boy, then I reopened baseball boy) I now hit the ball to about 90k meters before it hits the ground. Unfortunately the ground doesn’t load in time and then I’m instantly teleported back to the beginning to hit the ball again. If I purposely botch the hit so as to land around 70k-80k meters the ground catches up and I CAN play. I don’t know if this is by design, but because of this I can not pass 104k meters in the game. I have a video of everything I just explained if needed)

Great concept but poorly executed.

I’ve seen this ad everywhere and honestly was getting fed up. I mean if they put this much effort into advertising then it has to be good right? Wrong. I downloaded this without much thought since the first few reviews were five or four starts so I thought hey, what could go wrong. Well my life isn’t ruined or anything but time is certainly wasted. First off, the game *lags terribly* and I mean REALLY really bad. I’m on iOS 12 with around 100 gb of storage since I just got this phone wiped a while ago (backed up of course but I decided to start off on a clean slate, which is why I’m downloading games since my phone is pretty much empty). And so I tried turning the WiFi off, it crashed every single time. Even with restart. So I turned on the WiFi again and it worked. No doubt a money thirsty app but then again most apps these days are like this. And so I was hit with the urge to uninstall but I decided to give it a few more tries. Took me a few crashes (even with WiFi on) but I got to level five. I couldn’t take the crashes anymore so I’m about to uninstall the game. It’s a really good concept but really poorly executed at the same time. Hope the devs can fix it somehow but I guess they won’t bother since they’re pulling in insane downloads just with advertising.

Bad updates

**Updated Review**

They have worked out the glitches I mentioned before. The game is fun while you are progressing. Really fun. Once you get to a certain point though it becomes a little mundane. I still open it once every other week though in hopes something new will come with an update to work towards. It’s a fun free game and will definitely keep your attention for a couple of weeks. Get ready to watch a lot of ads though if you want to make money to spend on upgrades. Good game. My first review was 1 star but after they worked out the bugs it is decent to play. 3 Stars. Hopefully they’ll continue the good updates on the game so it’s still fun once you’ve unlocked everything.

I got the latest update and I immediately had all the bats unlocked because I had already surpassed the update. The updates are always behind where I’m at and now I hit the ball and the screen goes green and just resets the map. Even if I get a perfect hit it just glitches and resets. I can’t even collect money because every hit it just glitches. It was fun at the beginning but now it doesn’t work. Used to be fun and now it’s horrible and doesn’t work. Please fix this. You had a great game for a couple of weeks.

Do you even ad bro?

Do you like ads? I mean opening the game and watching one before playing once, like ads? What about seeing one after your first hit? Still not enough ads for you? What if I told you that you could watch one about every 20-30 seconds? I knew that would grab your attention. That’s right folks, if you want the game you play while you poo to be constantly interrupted by ads for games you’ll never download, then this is the game for you. Now I must give full disclosure and tell you that there is an option to not see the ads for a steep steep price of $2.99. But who’s gonna pay that when you get all the ads for free? Don’t just take my word for it. This is what Dave from Springfield had to say. “I’ve been playing for a week now and I’m in love. All these ads and they’re all mine. I left my wife and kids for the ads. We’re getting married in July.” There you have it, ads so good you’ll abandon your family for them.
*The game is fun. I wouldn’t pay for it even to get rid of the ads, but good for some time killing. It’s frustrating at times and it seems like you’ll collect all the different bats fairly quickly. The different characters not so much. But…meh…I’ll keep playing for a bit.

By

It’s got potential for sure.

Full disclosure I spent the 2.99 to get rid of the ads as they are very overwhelming. As far as gameplay. I saw one person write you have to hit it dead center to progress. True to an extent. At first yes but after awhile from playing and offline collection, you can progress just fine. I almost find it more beneficial to hit more to the side as you can avoid buildings, curbs, lights, etc.
I read another review and literally spot on with my thoughts. I wish there was sound to this game it needs it. There also needs to be some extras in here as far as glass breaking when hitting cars and house windows. I also feel that there needs to be some added help for players. There is far too much to knock a ball down rather than help the ball travel further. The hills and extra tap bounces only do so much. Even then you have to hit it just right and hope you don’t hit another object. One thing that bothers me is I can hit it “perfect” and dead center it still ends up a hair off and drills a car or light post and kills the hit all together. All in all, it still needs work and can be improved but not a bad game.

Good game but needs improvements

I want to start this review by telling you i love the game 🔥🔥🔥. Its very fun and addicting, cant wait to see how much made when i wasn't playing, how far my next strength upgrade will make be hit the ball, etc. But i will say i agree with previous review, if i have the option of collect or double my coins by watching a ad. You hitting collect should by pass the ad, otherwise eliminate collect button all together give me the money i won automatically ( because its not like if i don’t hit collect i wont get the money) and just have double my coins as the only option. Also when i reached a strength level of about 30 or so whenever i hit the ball and it went up in the air my screen turns blue i guess illustrating he sky but i think thats dumb why would i want a blue screen to stare at. I would make it a downward facing view and still show the buildings and ground and stuff the while time the ball is in the air. Overall though fun game i would just make these improvements next update you send out if you do send out one.

Bug fixes

I’m loving the new update and I was super excited to keep playing and getting further. Unfortunately yesterday I got to 90k meters and it stopped loading and I would be teleported back to the beginning. I then woke up this morning and saw that that problem was fixed so I got back on the grind, and then I got to 1,826,058 meters and because of the new updates I would next land at 2,829,765 meters and it is doing the same thing as yesterday. If this were to be fixed I would greatly appreciate it. Ok so I just got the new update that should have fixed it and looking back I probably shouldn’t have put my high score but now it is saying if I want to level up again I have to hit it 34million meters which is completely impossible especially since the my strength from the level I am got booted down 7000 percent even though I played the game legitimately and earned what I got up to. It is now impossible for me to level up and get higher. I am wondering if this is another bug and if this could get fixed again it would be greatly appreciated. And by the way the screen is still lagging when I touch the ground it starts flickering black and my score won’t be presented.

Ruined by Ads

I really want to like this game, and I feel it’s easily worth the $2.99 that they charge to remove ads, but I will never spend it to support developers like this. About 90% of your “gameplay” will be watching ads. After nearly every swing, an ad plays. Seriously. Every swing. At the end of your swing, you get the option to watch an ad to double your rewards, which I have no problem with. But when you decline that option, an ad still plays. When you log in after a while of being offline, you get the option to watch an ad to double your offline earnings, which can be significant. But each time I’ve tried it, I get a message that says “no video available.” So you have to skip that option and just go to the main screen, but then guess what? An ad plays. Unbelievable. I know free to play games need ad support, and I don’t mind that at all. The game gives you plenty of chances to watch optional ads to get rewards, and that’s a great system. But then shoving additional ads in your face to the point where you swing maybe once every two minutes? That’s not really a game anymore. It’s a fun game with great retro blocky graphics, but it’s ruined by an absolutely overwhelming number of ads. Apple needs to start banning greedy developers like this.

Perfect?

So I downloaded this game yesterday and have already dedicated 8 solid hours of gameplay (sick with the flu don’t judge me). I found a few bugs too where if you hit the ball towards the barrier walls to the far left or right the ball will drop off the map. I’m currently hitting 39 strength 39 speed so I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it but it gets discouraging after a while.

As far as the game is concerned I really enjoy it but I think that I have to agree with what a number of people have said. If you really want to increase your distance it’s better to not go for the perfect hit. There are just too many obstructions and I’m not trying to challenge the design of the game because I do enjoy it but I think that it would be better if the developers made more obstacles for everything outside of the perfect line therefore making hitting perfect a much more rewarding experience. If you guys update and make those changes and add things in the perfect lane like ramps, speed boosts, etc. I think it will take this game to the next level.

Most adds you will ever see in your life

Who doesn’t love seeing adds after every single time you click swing? They got to be stupid not to like adds and not even just adds adds that rip off other games or sexualize women the add selection is just the greatest, if your love for adds is so much that you rather watch adds then play a game play this one they give you the best selection of the same 5 adds every single time and sometimes they make you watch them for 30s for just collecting regular money but guaranteed add every hit unless you spend money on the game . I know the game has to make money but this many adds makes my brain melt down from frustration this game would be like angry birds good but no you got to pay 3$ to play the game not to remove adds to play the game. Witch I would have no problem doing cause the game is fun but just because of the way they do their advertising I will make sure everyone I know does not donate to this game cause Cause if you don’t the game is nothing but adds and I between those adds you got adds on the bottom of the screen. At one point it glitched and I had 2 adds at once. Save your self, save your money, just play the original baseball game that this one ripped off.

Nice game could use some updates

I like the game. It’s easy to learn and difficulty increases over time.

Some things worth noting for improvements:

Certain times when the ball is hit it never lands and you end up back at the beginning with nothing to show for it. Seems like a bug with rendering the landscape in time.

On my iPhone 6 once I had gotten further in the game (100k or so ::I’m guessing for the next issue I’ll describe after this one) the game became extremely laggy. Maybe a memory issue of some sort? It seems to get cleared up if you take BaseballBoy out of the background and wait a while (seems odd but taking it out of the background and immediately reopening didn’t seem to fix the lag.) this lagginess makes it extremely difficult to place the arrow in the middle of the angle meter.

I recently upgraded to an iPhone X and figured I’d install the game here (couldn’t restore the new phone from backup because the old phone was on a beta iOS version) when I opened BaseballBoy I expected to see my distance (retrieved from my Game Center score?) as well as achievements. I’m not certain how other unlocked items are stored but if the information is available via Game Center it would be great to carry into the new phone. Other data would probably need to be stored on a server. (Just a thought and probably not that likely to happen since restoring from backup would likely have worked fine if I didn’t jump to a beta iOS on my old phone).

All in all nice work.

Game speed and content suggestion

I have been playing this game for a while and I love it! I just have a few complaints. The first is how easy it is to get to the end. I always seem to run out of content within the first one or two sessions of each new update. Maybe add more content or add missions that need to be completed for each bat outside of just hitting the distance. The other thing I would say is having a game speed option. I’m very far in the game and I still want to hit it huge distances, but I also like to see the journey that the ball goes on. My speed is incredibly high and the journey of the ball just flies by and I can barely keep up with my extra bounces or where the ball even is. I would suggest having an option to slow it down. Some people may like the speed and fast play can be helpful when time is a factor, but for me that is not always the case and I’m sure others will agree. But otherwise a great game that I would wholeheartedly recommend to others, and already have!

Fun but needs work

(Update) with the last edit, I can’t hit the ball as far. Previous big hit was over 5 million. Now I’m down to 1.7 million. At least it doesn’t take 10 minutes now. Lastly, now the next level up is 227,221,500 meters. C’mon man!!!

I was on a flight and decided to try this game out. Within a few hours of sporadic playing with a little strategy, I’m now hitting the ball over 5 million meters. I have over 2 billion dollars. Seems like that would be fun, the problem is it takes around 10 minutes for the ball to land. You definitely need to figure out a way to speed that process up. The second problem is that when hitting it that far, it reaches terminal velocity, and falls straight down. That takes most of the 10 minutes. So the screen just flickers, the ball morphs into funny shapes and the distance doesn’t get any further. Little disappointing but still was a great way to kill a few hours. I’d like to continue playing, but don’t have the time to wait for the ball to land.

BB review

I have been playing this for a couple days now and I would have to agree with some of the previous reviews. The game is pretty fun and super easy. The progression is quick (because you will play for 45 mins and realize it). The ads are excessive but tolerable...a 50/50 ratio previously mentioned in another review is accurate.
It seems the developers haven’t put an update out in months which leads me to believe they are content with BaseballBoy . They need to look into a few things. The main issue/glitch I seem to be having is every 10 ads or so, the screen splits in half and you can’t exit out of the ad. Which means you have to close BaseballBoy and likely lose that rounds score and cash. Ironically this mostly happens when you have reached an achievement of sorts. Not cool. Also, the response time for the manual bounce lags big time. If tap the screen, that ball should bounce. Not when it wants to or 3 seconds later. I have not spent the $2.99 and mostly likely won’t because this game will probably only be in my phone for another several days. Good for a minute.

I Hate That I Love It

First of all, (and this is a huge pet peeve of mine, so prepare yourself for the rant), stop complaining about ads in a free app! Do you honestly expect developers to crank out free entertainment for you out of the goodness of their hearts? If you’re sick of the ads, just shut up and pay the minimum fee of $3 to make them magically disappear. If you’re honestly outraged that ads are popping up in this game, then you’re really going to be disappointed when you move out of your parents’ house and realize that the world doesn’t owe you anything.

As for my feelings about the game... I downloaded this because I wanted a game that I didn’t have to really focus on, but would still help me relax. I was hooked from the first moment I started playing, and I don’t know why. The scenery is repetitive, and you would think this would be one of the many apps that grows old quickly, but not for me. I’m now on level 80-something and I still have to force myself to close it and go to bed.

I did purchase the “remove ads” option, so I can reassure those of you who are worried about this - you will not miss out on the chance to watch ads in order to double your money or receive free upgrades. The choice is yours whether to accept, and no ad will play unless you choose to watch it.

I’m impressed that you’ve managed to keep my attention with such a dinky little game, (no offense intended). Bravo!
