THE Best Collecting App

I’ve been picking up the single console apps since the beginning. I was completely on board when they upgraded to making it one solo app and with every update they’ve given us. Every addition to the program is an improvement that I didn’t even know I needed.
It’s not only the perfect way to keep your collection on hand when your checking if you have a title but it’s also a wonderful guide for sellers with the eBay and collector pricing.
I thought I couldn’t sing this apps praises anymore when I reached out to the programmer and they responded right away and not only helped me but gave me free system upgrades.
So not only is the product fantastic but the people behind are also.

Retro Game Collector

Retro Game Collector is a video game database that is tailored to game enthusiasts who have large collections, are looking to acquire large collections or are interested in the retro market. RetroGameCollector allows users to analyze their game collection in a number of ways and acts as a shopping list for ones you still want to add to your collection. RetroGameCollector is easy to use with a full game catalog purchase menu or the ability to display content based on a particular gaming system from the main menu. When navigating a particular system menu it is easy to add data or view all the titles every released for that platform. RetroGameCollector gives you two unlocked system platforms from the start, the 32X and Virtual Boy, but users have to pay for the rest. It is smart for the developers to unlock these because the customers are more likely to pay for the others such as the NES, SNES, to be unlocked. I find the prices to unlock a platform or multiple platforms to be a bit too high especially when some other apps have databases you can view for free but you still get a lot of functionality here. Retro Game Collector is worth a download as a managing tool and reference point for games of the past.

Everything you want in a collection app!

I’ve been on board with RetroGameCollector since the early days and I don’t know where I would be without it! Gone are the days that I picked up a double of a game not remembering if I had it or not. I like that you can notate if you have the box, manual, and game itself separately. There’s a rarity meter, up to date pricing, customizable lists, room for notes, and you can even upload a picture of your own. They support 25 systems at the time of this review, and when I have dealt with them personally, they are friendly, quick, and cleared up my question or problem immediately. Definitely one of the top three gaming collection apps out there. Highly recommended!

Great record keeper

I’ve been using RetroGameCollector for a while now and I love it. I’m super stoked for the update that’ll bring in current gen systems so I can have my whole collection in one place. A couple things I would like to see improved on though. A cross system search/cross system consolidated wanted list. This would help a lot when shopping at game stores to not have to go back and forth constantly. Another thing that would be nice is a quick add to the wanted list. You can swipe the title left for a quick add for cart, manual, and box, maybe a swipe right for quick add to wishlist. Overall though, amazing app, keep it up!

Excellent for a Collector

I love RetroGameCollector! Bought each console collection prior to them making it a single app. Everything easily transferred to the new platform. With a collection around 1700+ games on available on the consoles shown (I have more games for other consoles not available), this makes sorting and keeping track of what I already have super easy. With cart/disk, manual, and case options I know at a glance what I have. I do find the pricing finicky, but I work the numbers through multiple sources anyways. I’ve emailed them with a few issues and missing games and they’ve always been very responsive. This is my first app review and have to give the original creator credit here.

I love this.

Finally an easy way to keep track of all the games we have for all our systems. I’m not sure how I lived so long without this. Covers are very nice. Being able to keep a wish list - plus see games that are the most rare / sell for the most to add to a wish list - is an added bonus.

Suggestions - none are necessary, but could be great to have:
- descriptions of each game, like from the original box. I bet people would gladly help you add that, seeing as it would be a lot of work at all. I’d totally help.
- add peripherals - I’d love to add my sweet Donkey Konga bongos. I’d just love the world to know I have Donkey Konga bongos, actually.

Great app no matter your collection size

As a novice video game collector relative to others, I realized that I still needed a way to keep track of my inventory. I have a broad collection of about 350 games across 20 different retro systems and could not track it all easily. It is also great to view all the other game out there I wasn’t even aware of.

When out shopping, I can easily pull up RetroGameCollector and view my collection. If I see something I want to buy, I have an idea of what the game is worth in the market.

Additionally, the game art makes it so great to show friends and family. It is like I am taking them directly to my game shelves and showing off what I have.

Lastly, the support I received when having issues connecting between devices was quick and friendly. They easily identified my issue and was able to resolve my problem.

If you are looking for a great, fun way to monitor and show off your collection- it is definitely worth the investment! I’m looking forward to additional systems being added in the future. Thank you!

Awesome

Great and easy app to use. The only thing is when searching for a game you have to be very title specific. Every dot and dash must be included or the game will not show up. Also wish you could add in all the consoles and peripherals you have in your collection. Nonetheless, very easy app to use, especially when using for a quick pricing reference. Also when a new list becomes available for download, you can’t just simply download it. I bought the unlimited access, and when a new list came up for download, I had to restore the purchase, only then it would download. Great app!

Minor Inconveniences

Overall, this is a fantastic app; extremely thorough, easy to use, and perfect for my collections. However, there are 2 minor issues I have. One issue is that the total value of my collection is a bit lower than it should be. Another minor issue is that I got the virtual boy and 32x for free (I know that sounds like a good thing but I don’t have any desire to collect for those consoles) and now I have an annoying sliver on the pie chart that says “others” and I would really like that to go away. Still, RetroGameCollector is amazing and I could only imagine the amount of work that went into it.

If you want to track your collection, get it now.

RetroGameCollector is the best (If sometimes unintuitive) way to keep track of your video game collection. From what you spend, to what you sold, to what you are most interested in, RetroGameCollector has just about everything a collector could need if they are serious about retro gaming. While I had a little trouble at first and it was hard to log all the games I had already bought before I got RetroGameCollector , afterwards the sheer amount of information I realized I had at my fingertips made any complaint I had invalid.

Long Time Purchaser

I already owned the previous apps and paid for them, but when I downloaded the new apps I had to repay for all of them and the old apps are no longer accessible. I feel as though if you had already purchased the previous apps that you shouldn’t have to repay for the same thing in a compact format or the other apps should still be available. Either would be fine. I still love RetroGameCollector and use it all the time. I just wish that this had been done better for people that use these apps.

Easiest Collection Tracker

Absolutely love RetroGameCollector. I always recommend it when I meet new collectors. Easy to use and track my collection. I like that I can see the highlights of my collection and that I can swivel between systems seamlessly. The fact that my collection info is backed up is a major plus as well. Available online too. Absolutely recommend RetroGameCollector to anyone with a small or large collection.

Updated to 4 stars

I paid to unlock all systems. RetroGameCollector is very handy when out shopping. I have used it many times for a quick rarity and price check. I cannot go five stars because it uses its own sync system, not iCloud, does not offer box art sync, and requires a [free] web account for sync using a privacy policy with a few holes in it.
But otherwise, provides great usefulness.
Btw I contacted support regarding an issue and they were very responsive and supportive, and actually quickly released an update to RetroGameCollector to fix the issue.

Great app for collectors! Missing only a few systems...

I love RetroGameCollector so much. My only wants are an option for smaller thumbnails (to save space on my phone) and a few systems that I collect that are missing from RetroGameCollector . Atari 7800 and the Atari Lynx are a couple of my faves that I’d like to see in. Also the E-reader games under the GBA aren’t all listed.
The positives are convenient interface, collection tracking, and the all in one approach. I love RetroGameCollector!

Lost everything-update

I previously purchased the “red suite” on my iPhone 6s to keep track of my collection. Apparently the developer no longer supports these apps and i lost all of my data. Also, i tried to restore purchases to get the apps back through this one and it won’t let me. Shady company. I wouldn’t buy from them.

***update:developer helped me out and I got the apps in the new format. However, I did have to re-enter all of my games in the new app. Overall, it’s a good way to keep track of my collection.

Best retro app….period!

I have been using RetroGameCollector now for over 3 years and it is by far the best one out there for video game collecting. I love the constant price monitoring and this also helps with your insurance policy with your collections. In addition, every time I have messaged them with a question, they reply in minutes. Great team and I look forward to each update!

Fantastic App

This is a fantastic app which allows you to keep track of your game collection across multiple platforms. It's easy to use.. it allows you to sort each set by name or value and allows you to log your owned games by cartridge/game, manual, and box/case.
My understanding is that RetroGameCollector keeps up with the latest values of games. I highly recommend RetroGameCollector to all collectors of video games.

Love this app and the support!

This is an amazing app for collectors! The options and tracking are great. I received support after having an issue with my Apple ID, the support team was completely understanding and helpful. They are always updating RetroGameCollector adding new features and more support for the current features.

Only Use For Record Keeping

It’s a good tool for those looking to keep track of what a collector already owns. Do not use its pricing numbers. Most of them are way off and makes me confused on how they got such numbers. They are either way low or overpriced, so I highly suggest not going with their pricing numbers.
It would have at least a three star except since it cost money and quite a bit just for recording data for users I dropped the rating lower.
It also does not list many accessories 1st party or 3rd party either so keep that in mind.

Thank you this is a very helpful app

I wanna be the first person to have all the Super Nintendo games in the world so RetroGameCollector is really helping me I recommend downloading RetroGameCollector if you wanna get into collecting or just to see what games there are but it wont play the games and you have to pay for some of them but it lets you pick one free

Must have for retro junkies

Big time collector here. I was using stone and chisel as a means of keeping track of my collection before (spreadsheet). Gone are the days of buying duplicate games that I already have. Love the interface on RetroGameCollector. Graphs are awesome. Will newer systems eventually be added as well? I hope so, and hope to use RetroGameCollector forever.

By

Great Interface

There are a few quirks, and it only includes North American titles. I have a massive amount of Japanese titles and a few European ones-- would be nice to include these.

** Configuring a new item in the list works, and it will update to the web site and maintain it in the overview, but when you return to that item in your collection, the word "Configure..." is present and not selected.

** Japanese games would make this awesome and I'd be willing to pay for an update.
