App needs some serious work

As an NWSL fan, would like nothing more than to have NationalWomensSoccerLeague stay permanent on my iPhone. But the functionality is just not there, so have deleted it and will use other apps to get my NWSL content. The loading times for the content is very slow...you have to dig into NationalWomensSoccerLeague to find basic information like TEAMS. You would think that would be one of the main buttons in the bottom global navigation bar. Once you find TEAMS and look at the roster, you would assume you would be able to click on a player to find bio information along with current and historical stats. You can’t even click on a player to find that information and worse...some players don’t even have a profile picture next to their names. In order for NWSL to grow, they have got to get the basics “right”. Not asking for too much as a fan right now...just give me: MATCH INFO / PLAYER NEWS / STANDINGS and I will be very happy. Let’s get to work, as the players are doing their part to play world class soccer and promote the game!

Spoiler City

Now that Go90 is gone90 (thank you, thank you) it’s great that the NWSL app has made replays available in-app for those of us who aren’t able to watch the games live. However, the feature is rendered useless because there is no way to start playing a video without having the game’s score spoiled for you. It’s literally right above the video. 🤬

Folks, I know soccer is about much more than the final score line, but knowing how the game turns out before I start seriously ruins the fun of watching. At the very least add a “no spoilers” setting I can turn on somewhere!

3 stars because I want to see NationalWomensSoccerLeague succeed, but it’s near useless for me as it stands. 😠

Pretty ok but a little bit of issues

I do not like on how it tells you who won if it was a old game. And you can not favorite players or teams. But I like that you can see the news on the league in general. I have personally been in love with playing soccer and watching soccer since I was 5 and Alex Morgen was my 4th inspiration to play.

Allow us to hide the score of the game!

Please, please, please add a setting that allows users to hide the score of a game. I can’t watch every game live. It spoils some of the fun to see the score before I watch the game. My BTN app allows me to hide the scores as does Fox sports and ESPN. This is the only sports streaming app I have that does not allow me to hide the score. I even tried to squint or block it with my hand. Alas, the score is front and center making it impossible to miss. Come on NWSL you can do this! GO THORNS!

Might as well use my browser app

NationalWomensSoccerLeague is fine, but it doesn’t have any of the functionality I’m used to from a sports app (specifically, being able to set notifications for preferred teams’ matches and scores). The “pages” in NationalWomensSoccerLeague are just links that open the NWSL website, so there’s no reason to waste storage space when I can do all the same stuff using the browser app I already have. Pretty disappointing.

Web views in app are problematic

I love the league, and it pains me to write a bad review - but the major update to NationalWomensSoccerLeague has had a regression in functionality. Looking at the schedule and standings leads to an embedded web view, which can be okay except that it gives me a pop up about cookies every time I try to access this part of NationalWomensSoccerLeague . If I wanted your website, I’d go to the website. I can’t really use NationalWomensSoccerLeague at this point, unfortunately.

Good Overall

Seems good overall to get quick information about my teams. But it’s a bit clunky, would love to have notifications of games and be able to favorite a team or players

Frustrating lack of features

NationalWomensSoccerLeague needs some more features like it’s MLS counterpart. Feels like I have to put more effort into watching NWSL as a result. No team alerts, no match day, goal, or highlight alerts.

For example, I watch the Sounders. I can have notifications for when they play, when they score, and I can follow the team so I can see the schedule at a glance.

But none of that is really here. NationalWomensSoccerLeague deserves some more effort to support the awesome NWSL

Does anyone in the NWSL use this app?

To have a “native” app that continually drops you into web views, complete with newsletter subscription pop-ups and cookie consent dialogs, you would think anybody in the NWSL would immediately ask “what in the wide wide world of sports is a goin’ on here?!”

Please just make an app. If I want to use your web site I’ll do that in Safari. Please toss in some game notifications as well!

Love, but...

I love NationalWomensSoccerLeague! The only problem is that everything is upside down which is really annoying. Fix that and this will become a five star rating. Thanks!

(Go Portland!)

App icon/favorite team

With other professional leagues(nhl, nfl, etc) apps, you are given the option to change NationalWomensSoccerLeague icon to your favorite team.

Not great!

I love watching my favorite teams play but would love to see the game times in local time. Stats are really slow to update and tabs take forever to load. And why take us to a web page? really?? And for goodness sake. Don’t give us the scores when watching replays!! Basic stuff!! But thanks!

Update stats

Love using NationalWomensSoccerLeague to quickly see the schedule, standings and stats. However, the player stats have not been updated in a month or so. Frustrating.

By

Needs More

No player search feature. The league has an agreement with ESPN-“The Worldwide Leader”-but you wouldn’t know it using NationalWomensSoccerLeague. All scheduled matches are only shown as being on Yahoo. I would love to support this league but have to use other sources to do so.

add individual player stats!!

love NationalWomensSoccerLeague. very helpful. the only thing i might add is that we should be able to click on a player and see all their stats. other than that it’s good!

By

Videos don’t play

It can be slow to start up and switch between tabs. None of the videos ever play in the articles

By

Way behind

NationalWomensSoccerLeague takes forever to update standings. They still haven’t updated it from today and the thorns match was over two hours ago. I had to go to ESPN for the information.

Improve your App !

You want to to accept your cookies but you don’t give us a very good app. How are we supposed to help support and grow women’s soccer when we can’t watch games get information about games or see what’s happening with the league?

By

Links to unsecured websites

I clicked on a link to read more about a player. I was sent to an unsecured website and immediately after this received a malicious pop-up threat that I will be hacked. Deleted NationalWomensSoccerLeague and cleared history. Hopefully that’s the end of this bad experience. Too bad for women’s soccer.

Latest update made it even worse

Previously, NationalWomensSoccerLeague was outdated. Now it’s not even an app, it just loads info from the NWSL website. There Isn’t anything you can customize for your team.

By

Upside down!

Please update your app so that it displays content right-side up whether or not home button is on the right or left. So annoying this is the only app I’ve ever used that is upside down when home button is on the right.

Great App!

Both this NWSL app and the one for MLS are excellent and provide a great experience!! I highly recommend it to anyone into NWSL!

It's finally here!!!

As a long time women's soccer fan, I've always wanted an app where I can conveniently find the stats, scores, and schedules of my favorite teams all in one place, and this it it! I love how the highlight reels of past games are in NationalWomensSoccerLeague along with various promotional videos so I can make sure that I don't miss anything. So far, I haven't had a single issue with it (although I only downloaded it about an hour or two ago so I really haven't had much time to find any). I'm pumped for the season to start tomorrow and am so glad that the NWSL is making the fan experience just that much more convenient with NationalWomensSoccerLeague. Go Red Stars!!

Not optimized for iPhone XS

I love NationalWomensSoccerLeague but please update to accommodate for the new iPhones. Menus are hidden on the top and bottom. Thank you!
