Hello developers,
I need to report an issue and it seems like it’s been problematic to other users but I happen to notice that some of my recordings have been returning no audio sound. This has been an existing issue and I believe it has not been addressed as of yet. I notice only the saved recordings where the pause/resume button was used, no sound present. Please do investigate this because it is very concerning and I use all I use the voice recording for work and personal use. I currently have about 3 to 5 recordings that I can’t listen to on my IPAD because the audio has been disabled. It seems to me that the issue is deriving from the pause/resume button just for the simple fact that all my other recordings that did not have any interference were just straight through recordings and so when I go and play them back I have no issues, I can hear the audio perfectly. And if this is being worked on can someone reach out to me and provide an update that would be great

I have used VoiceMemos extensively for recording and finally was able to use airdrop to backup the files, but once I deleted everything in the voice memo app including VoiceMemos itself it still takes up 125GB of phone storage. Multiple delete reset phone attempts lead me to figuring the solution is to factory reset this iPhone 12 Pro Max. Dropped $30 on third party software to manage transferring files when there seemed to be no viable solution to transfer voice memos in bulk. As you can imagine individually emailing more than a thousand voice memos might be time consuming. Airdrop transfer is great now, but I don’t even like to have voice memos downloaded on the phone yet somehow 125GB taken up by a deleted app. Please help.

Given that the iPhone offers voice memos and voice to speech capabilities, it seems to me the that the trivial task of connecting these two services is totally worth it. I would use the voice memo app to record something while I’m out and I don’t have unlimited battery or internet connection, and process it to text once I get home.

Victims in domestic violence situations need a discrete option that comes pre-downloaded to the iPhone off the shelves.

This is not that app. Couple problems with that:
1. It lights up a yellow mic indicator in the top left corner.
2. No way to discretely set up a quick shortcut to start recording without the whole app interface popping up on screen.
3. No way to choose where those voice files are automatically discretely stored, and no way to make this happen with the Shortcuts app as voice files are not available outside of VoiceMemos Files until manually exported.
4. No way to have the Shortcuts app dictate to text the voice memos live or afterwards so that a call to action (calling 911) can be made if a keyword is said to trigger such an action.

Domestic abusers will often do the best they can to prevent their victims from having access to their mobiles. It is essential people in these situations are able to trigger recordings discretely via voice input, or quickly triple clicking the side button before losing access to their mobile. None of these options are available.

I use VoiceMemos to record and then edit recording by rewriting certain parts of audio more frequently. Once I press done, audio component saves the changes. If you make the audio recording longer than 6 minutes, press edit and record or erase background noise while going through the rest of recording. After continuous usage, voice memo makes the audio recording obsolete (unable to edit, listen or do anything with it other than delete the audio recording). Frozen app bug has lost numerous of recording and unreliability of app shouldn’t be used on large project.

You can’t set the range to automatically delete no audio components in your recording.

In one of the software updates, Apple has reduced the value of VoiceMemos. It still records as well as ever, but I can no longer go to the sync view on my laptop and drag recordings to my desktop, nor delete them from there to save space. I can delete them on the iPad, if I don’t mind losing them completely. And even if I want them to stay on the iPad, I need to edit them on the laptop and put them back. This is because the recording gain in VoiceMemos is pitifully low. Last but not least, why in @&#$@& does Apple think VoiceMemos needs to collect data on my location?!?!?

I'd give VoiceMemos 5 stars, but for a few days now i've been experiencing a major bug-
Whenever i turn my phone off or my phone automatically turns off, the voice memo stops. Which is a problem for me, since a lot of the music I listen to is on voice memos. It works fine while my phone is on but abruptly stops when my phone turns off.

I’ve recorded long things like classes etc routinely with other apps never had an issue. I got a new phone and so I tried VoiceMemos. After 30min of recording I looked down and VoiceMemos showed 30min but only plays 16 seconds. This recording was super important and the time was a sacrifice and now I have nothing to show for it. I’ve literally never experienced this with any other recording app. If you need something reliable look elsewhere. The interface is also clunky and annoying.

Works great if you just want to record and listen like 80% of the world, but God forbid you need to use it for work and check the date and time of your recording, because it’s impossible on your phone. Apple, can you please update it to include more info? I can see every bit of information for a photo I took, even the camera that was used, can I please just get Timestamps on Voice Memos so I can see the exact time of recording?

I use this to record meetings often. However I can usually keep up with notes. It would be great to have a bookmark button so that I can tap the button and easily be able to get back to that section of the recording.

VoiceMemos was nice when it worked but now no matter what I do it will not record or pick up any sound even when I speak directly into the microphone. I've checked and this is the only app my phones microphone has any issue with, and works fine picking up sound in any other app that does so. Reinstalling VoiceMemos and restarting my phone did nothing, and google has been completely useless in finding a solution. Massive disappointment for an app that was actually usable for years.

I love VoiceMemos, and I have a suggestion. Could you add something where the recording can repeat so that if you don’t have music to listen to and your using VoiceMemos to do that, then you won’t have to play it again manually.

I record a lot of lectures every day but when i want to share them i must only share one record after record and this takes so much time to lose, i wish you can update it to make users send more than one record at time

I’ve loved the voice memos app since it came to the IPad 1st gen. I like the compression across devices and the seamlessness between them. The trim/ edit feature does what It needs to do as well. The only thing it NEEDS is a “save as copy” option after you trim audio.

I have 2 recordings that have completely disappeared leaving only a few seconds of airplay when the recordings were longer than 30 minutes. I did absolutely nothing. I did not delete them. It still shows the length of time recorded but it’s only seconds of AirPlay. I am very frustrated because those notes were extremely important!! Apple you need to figure this out!!! 😡

There are huge issues getting memos from Apple Watch to other devices. There is no option to force share it from watch so your memos are stuck on a device with minimal usability. Memos are almost useless on Apple Watch alone, it’s only once the memo is synced to your other devices that the memo can be useful. Please Apple fix this problem.

I use VoiceMemos to make entertaining voice recordings for myself, and I think it would be cool to be able to change the pitch of the voice. That would be funny. This is a great app! Thank you and have a good day!

Blank screen upon startup, it lags for about a minute and then it crashes/closes.

When I try to open it after the first crash, blank screen for anywhere from 30s-1 min+ and then it finally loads normally.

Sometimes it seems swiping home and reopening helps it load faster, but that could just be my impatience and is most likely making it take longer..

By the time VoiceMemos loads, and the frustration I go through, I’ve forgotten what I wanted to remember.

Until a fix rolls out for this, other users might want to look for a third party solution unless you plan to forget whatever it was that you were hoping to remember ahead of time.

Don’t recommend if you want to pause recording momentarily and then continue with the same recording session. I lost a critical recording, which turned into a number of 20-second snippets.

The editing function isn’t much better; there are free apps here with a clearer interface.

OK for short memos. Otherwise I recommend you pay for a reliable App with a more conventional and understandable interface.

After using enhance recording to get rid of any noise surrounding the recording, the enhancement completely disappears once the file is sent and all the noise returns. What’s the point of that feature existing if it doesn’t maintain when sending a file? Whatever glitch is causing that needs to be fixed. It wasn’t happening before so that’s how I can tell it’s a faulty software issue and needs to be remedied asap rocky.

I would like to give this 5 stars as I find it to record effectively and with simplicity. However, trying to transfer multiple voice memos is a daunting task and not at all intuitive. It starts to make using VoiceMemos feel like a “job.”

This has happened multiple times. I record a memo, usually for class, and i can record replay all that. But when i save it nothing happens. I press the play button. It doesn’t move. I try to share it. Nothing happens. It’s so infuriating and I’m missing a deadline due to this issue.

User vontent should not be collected from a voice notes app!!! This is wildly unprivate and should NOT be considered acceptable behavior from a company whose major selling point these days is "Google sure does track you a lot!". Come ON!

No option to trim the recording as new...
You lose all the parts out of the trim...I just lost 1 hour of important conversation. I don't know who designed VoiceMemos but it's very badly executed...

Doesn’t work on new update I lost a lot of memos

I just wanted to be able to save quick notes and reminders to do things. I’m 73 yrs old and have too much to keep track of so got VoiceMemos several days ago. Went to check my voice memos and they are all gone. Also the action buttons don’t work cause they shut VoiceMemos . Went and got something way better. Now I’m trying to remember what my voice memos were.Ugh!
