Bummer!

I was really enjoying using the pro version of FerriteRecordingStudio until I discovered there is no way to export edited files in anything other than 16 bits. The internal format is 32 bit but there is no way to access it. Had I known this, I would never had purchased it. I can no longer use all of its great features knowing I cannot export my work in a professional audio format. This is unacceptable. Despite all its great editing features, Ferrite is simply not a professional editing app. Please add 32 or 24 bit export of edited files in a future update.

Reply: I edit audio (all kinds) professionally and I thought I had found the perfect audio companion to my iPad Pro. I would like to be able to edit in Ferrite and master the finished edited project in my mastering suite, but your refusal to implement high quality export of edited audio makes that impossible. I also find it preposterous that you would not implement a function that would, in effect, make your product perfect. It is so close. Why not go that extra little bit and make the internal format of edited audio exportable? Your refusal to do so is truly baffling.

Best audio editing app I've seen in a while.

This is the best audio editing app I have found out there on FerriteRecordingStudio Store. It is also one of the very few audio editing apps that work with voiceover. What I think would be cool though, is that when you are recording a new track, you can listen to your audio from another project. This way, I could have background music going, and when I can hear that his song is about to end, I could finish up what I am saying and finish the recording at the appropriate time, rather than the Recorder track being too short or too long. I also like how you can just the time more precisely and zoom in and out, I was able to make music loops from songs that I created with my windows PC

Astonishingly good podcast editor

There are so many aspects of my podcast editing workflow (usually done in Logic Pro X) that I thought would never be able to be done on an iOS device. FerriteRecordingStudio has it all. I can easily strip silence, it has a quick triple tap for select all following, it can ripple delete and insert, it can add chapters... The list goes on and on. In some ways I prefer it to Logic since I can relax on the couch with a nice pair of Bluetooth headphones instead of sitting at my desk. Getting audio onto the iPad is obviously a little trickier than it is with a computer (I load everything onto iCloud Drive, then import to Ferrite, which takes several minutes even for short episodes) but once it’s in Ferrite editing becomes pretty effortless.

Unbelievable

In the two years since I have been trying to go iPad Pro only (foregoing my Mac computers) this is the most startling moment.

The guys who built ferrite have captured so much of the sophistication of the professional DAW offerings for computer. The interface is so straightforward and reliable and clever.

I have been editing audio for network animation for two decades and I have seen a lot of different workstations from ProTools to Reaper and these Ferrite guys are every bit as clever. They are also friendly and responsive. I hate to say this but I would've been willing to pay even more given the fact that they have solved my final total conversion to iPad living.

I edit all my podcasts here now!

I started using Ferrite last year, and after a bit of time to understand how it works and finding a setup that's right for me, I now edit all of my podcasts in it. This is after using a DAW for a long time, which was admittedly quite overpowered for my use case.

The few times I ran into weird bugs/issues, I got quick responses that resolved my issues.

Ferrite accepts multiple recording rates (two of us record at 44.1, another records on their phone at 48) in the same project. Maybe a small thing, but it's great for me. It's not the tool if you like to process your audio a lot, and I prefer the Noise Reduction tool in Audacity way more, but it's the best tool for me to edit and do final processing with chapters. Indispensable now.

One little thing is that there doesn't seem to be a way to select a different microphone; if I have headphones and a USB mic plugged in, it seems to flip a coin. Not a big deal because I don't typically record in Ferrite, but something I noticed.

Ferrite makes podcast editing fun

I know it can be hard to believe, but Ferrite makes editing my podcast fun. I am creating a narrative-style podcast with dozens of interviews and hundreds of audio clips, and bringing it all together in Ferrite is not only doable, it is efficient and enjoyable.

I do wish for more file management options (given how many clips I am using), but don’t have suggestions on how to improve on that front (maybe ability to put clips in folders?).

Regardless of that, FerriteRecordingStudio is an easy 5-star rating. Love using it. And makes my iPad Pro a truly pro device for me.

My favorite audio editor

I originally got this so I could walk around while editing podcasts/voice overs and do that kind of work while traveling. I never expected it to become my primary editing tool but that’s what happened. I haven’t tried recording with it but for editing, Ferrite + iPad + Apple Pencil = Bliss. The process for exporting individual tracks is a bit wonky and I’d like it if there was an option to speed up playback but those are minor quibbles. Considering what you get for the price from (last I knew) a one-man production, this one’s a no-brainer.

This app is a game-changer if you have an iPad Pro w/ Pencil!

I think this is the first app review I’ve ever written and I’m doing so because FerriteRecordingStudio is so well built.

The builders of FerriteRecordingStudio know exactly what editors need when getting their work done. I am so pumped to have found FerriteRecordingStudio as it makes my podcast editing so easy. I like my podcast sounding professional/clean and FerriteRecordingStudio gets it done so darn well!!!

The Pro version is a no brainer because it easily saves me $29 of pain and time! Not sure of the names of FerriteRecordingStudio builders but thank you guys for the work you put in on this.

Features are good, UI.... needs some love

The features here are solid. Everything works and seems to work pretty well. Nice job!

On first use, though, the UI is kind of ... not really a train wreck, but maybe more than a fender-bender.

After recording you get these little rectangles (without even having curved corners or shadow or translucency or anything) for each recording, which feel a bit Androidy, and thus, somewhat gross.

When you delete a recording, you get a weird non-standard “alert” pop-up. This one has heavily rounded corner, a weird off-red color that’s not used anywhere else in FerriteRecordingStudio . It animates onto the screen linearly and again, feels very much NOT at home on iOS.

After these initial impressions, I assumed it must be a cross-platform app — but according the website, it’s not. On top of that, I know FerriteRecordingStudio is fairly well-regarded in the community.

Probably no developer reads 3-star reviews, but I really think you could improve the initial impressions of FerriteRecordingStudio by addressing some of then UI inconsistency and weirdness.

Thanks!

Great for recording and editing but keeps crashing

I’ve been using Ferrite for about 2 and a half months now and it’s great for recording and editing BUT The biggest downfall is lately it has started crashing during recordings. I bought the pro version because my podcast is about an hour and a half long or longer. It’s really irritating when I look down and FerriteRecordingStudio is closed out. There has been a few times me and my cohost have been in deep conversation and I happen to glance down and nothing is open. We’ve lost anywhere from a few seconds of audio to 15 minutes. Right now I’m looking for something else to record with and maybe I’ll use Ferrite to edit it.

Wow, what an amazing and comprehensive app for audio content creators

This is a truly amazing app for anyone who does any extensve work with audio content. It is very well thought-out and designed with sound content creators in mind.
It certainkly helps a great deal that FerriteRecordingStudio is very much compatible with VoiceOver screen reader for blind users. The developer clearly cares about the users, as can even be seen from the user manual, which is well-organized, accessible and descriptive.
Thank you, thank you!

Fantastic Podcast App

I normally do not leave reviews, however, I will make an exception. The support for FerriteRecordingStudio is second to none in the Apple App Store. I have reached out twice now with questions or concerns and received same day (within an hour) responses. The responses not only addressed my issue, but provided more detailed information regarding similar (potential) questions. Well done. Also, FerriteRecordingStudio works really well, with a good many feature. My advise, take the time to learn FerriteRecordingStudio before recording a session.

99% Perfect

I'm a commercial Voiceover artist. I used to use Logic Pro X, but only needed 10% of its features. FerriteRecordingStudio is exactly what I need. I'm producing broadcast quality audio on my iPad Pro (USB C) and I can take it traveling. I'm amazed. Beautiful UI as well.

Just please, one thing - are we going to see a Denoise feature soon? That's the only plugin I still feel that I need.

Also, is there any chance we can copy & paste an Effects chain, or have it running live like a DAW? That would also make FerriteRecordingStudio perfect. Thanks!

Stellar app and customer support

There have been so many great apps out there but a lot fall down when it comes to support. Not so with this company. I asked a simple question about some of the functionality and got a very detailed and considered response. No automated bots here. Aside from that, the software just works. The interface is refined and elegant and the speed is really impressive. Their other product, Hokusai, is equally capable. I highly recommend anything made by this company.

Input gain is a must

This is by far the best audio recorder that is not the built in recorder. The great thing is you can control the input gain and be able to record band practice without distortion. Unfortunately this feature was removed by Apple on the iphone ( as I understand it not developers fault at all) but you can get around it by bringing the regular wired headphones w mic and recording it that way.

Feature request: allow recording from bluetooth headphones thay have mics w input gain

Great app!

Makes Podcast editing and publishing from iOS possible

Great app, really empowering to be able to take care of edits on the go or on the couch. Only thing missing from my workflow is the the ability to see the exact file size, in bytes, of the exported audio, which is required (as far as I can tell) in the rss feed for my show. That’s the only thing that requires me to switch to my Mac, since the iOS Files app also lacks this functionality.

Lovely app, but I wish there was a way to speed up the audio

I'd really like to use FerriteRecordingStudio, it seems fantastic, the only thing that stops me from buying the pro version is the lack of the ability to speed up my voice recording.

I absolutely need this feature, I speak very slowly, and speeding it up by 20% makes for a much better audio, more engagignfor my listeners.

Is ther any chance you guys could add this feature?

By

Ready to upgrade to the pro version BUT it's missing one major function

Overall I like it but one of the main reasons that keeps me from using it and upgrading is the lack of adjustable playback speed.

I edit long form podcasts that we record audio and is about two hours long, takes such a long time to go over it, review it, exit 1X speed. Typically I review it at 1.5 X to 1.75x. 1x is painful and is incredibly slow

A note to the developers please please please fix this so I can move my workflow faster. Other than that I love FerriteRecordingStudio great job guys

DO NOT UPDATE

I paid to get the features of Ferrite Pro and now with this latest two updates FerriteRecordingStudio refuses to open. Clicked multiple times, updated my ios, updated FerriteRecordingStudio again and it would not open.

Though FerriteRecordingStudio is feature-rich, it isn’t intuitive at all. Figuring how to get out of certain windows is half the battle. I also wish they would have little windows or tutorials while you’re editing at first to show you what the features are and where they’re located.

I wanted to be supportive and now it feels like a waste of money. Probably going with TwistedWave audio editor instead.

Great but needs External Editing

I want to be able to edit off of an external ssd. I don't want to import all my files into the iPad and then offload them when done or whatever. Let me edit right off the ssd.

Also, file organization isn’t the best. I wish there were some way to view things as thumbnails or it would group projects with their respective audio files instead of having everything randomly on the main screen.

Love it

We are a museum and currently use it for a daily radio spot drop-in. We expect to begin podcasts later this year. Audio is excellent, controls easy to use, simple export options to the radio station . I personally use Logic Pro and GarageBand but needed an app like this for the non-tech folks that occasionally get involved. We use an Apogee Mic+ and get excellent results.

iOS VoiceOver accessible high quality recorder

I downloaded FerriteRecordingStudio after reading a fellow blind user’s review stating how accessible FerriteRecordingStudio is, and I wholeheartedly agree. Fantastic app, pro-grade audio quality, and great response from the developer. I wrote with some questions, and received a response very shortly after. I’m giving 6 stars, because 5 is not enough.
