I was very excited when I learned that there would be a mobile version of the diese App card, which I regularly use for business trips.
But my excitement went quickly:
1) I could not get a mobile diese App card as the app would not accept Apple Pay, resp. the credit card behind. Another payment option was not available to me.
2) you can not choose „HKD“ as currency to use for top-ups. You have to choose GBP, USD, EUR, etc and this leads inevitably to higher banking fees . Not good
The tourist-version of the diese App app only allows topping up in foreign currencies. The exchange rate is about 5~6% worse than market rates. If you have a credit card that doesn’t charge for use abroad, this rate is very unattractive. This is completely unacceptable and not what you would expect from a place like Hong Kong.
The Payment can not be done in HKD, instead there is a payment in a different currency requirement at an exorbitant and deceitfully exchange rate (more than 5% higher than normal).
I would recommend to just buy a physical card in the city to not support this fraudulent app.
Not possible to top up with ALL credit, debit and maestro cards that I‘be tried (all by Apple Pay
I just put money on the card, but didn‘t get access to the card. This ist scam!!
Not reliable as top up occasionally not supported
The exchange rates are the worst. You can only pay in your currency not with HKG.
I can't top up money with apple pay, so pretty useless app for me.
Just buy physical card
