I bought a subscription in order to experiment LiDAR’s possibilities. First try was fun, but after many scans I’m disappointed.

I’m focusing my review on the back camera only, the front one is working well I have nothing to say.

The user interface is the same for both cameras, so we can think that it’s possible to get colors, to change the precision etc... all we can do with the front camera. But actually on my side, nothing of this is working.
I can just capture white polygons.

The scale / details seems to be automatic according to the distance of the iPad and the objects.

The recording button has no real action at the beginning, you are scanning as soon as you open the camera.

While you are scanning, the point of view is not link to what you are filming, it’s a bit weird first but after few minutes you can naviguate into your scanned scene at the same time your are scanning.

And once I want to finish my scan by clicking on the recording button a second time... I have a lot of crashes ( back to home screen ) something like 60% of the time. Really frustrating especially after 5 minutes of scans around, no saves, nothing...

So, right now, I do not recommend this app if your are looking for a ipad LiDAR 3D scanner app. The subscription model is even expensive for something looking like a beta version.
I’m looking forward to the updates, meanwhile I’m cancelling the subscription.
