I began using Flamy on 21st December, and chose the “hard stop” option (there are also options to use nicotine replacement or to cut down before stopping). I have had a couple of relapses, but rather than having to start from the beginning, the app gives you to the option to reset your start date (start over), to simply reset your nicotine related achievements (it also counts the financial cost of those relapse cigarettes and subtracts them from your savings), etc. With other apps a relapse meant a reset, so I soon got frustrated and gave up trying.
Flamy provides constant motivation (number of cigarettes not smoked, money saved, and concrete health improvements achieved after X hours / days / weeks.
Importantly, there is also a daily task, which is enormously helpful in dealing with the psychological and behavioural elements of the addiction. These tasks include writing 10 reasons why we want to stop, taking 20 minutes of calm for you (including massage / meditation etc), and listening to a podcast about child labour in tobacco plantations. I am ashamed that I was so ignorant of this, and really appreciate that the app has such a holistic approach to concretise our desire to quit (mainly we quit for our health and pocket, but the social, economic and environmental elements - including modern slavery - are strong backup, especially if we hadn’t thought about them before).
Brilliant app, the best I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried a few!)
