I paid Spotify out of my nose for years only to have them hike prices over and over and introduce utterly worthless features that a music streaming service has no business having. Now, I'll just buy physical media from artists I want to support and stream their music for free. Are there small banner ads? Yes. Is the app rough around the edges? Also yes. Does it have an ugly 2010s icon and interface? Indeed it does. But who are we kidding? We grew up with iBeer. Apps don't have to be sleek and snazzy for you to like them. There are no exclusive podcasts, no DMs, no "mixing" feature (I'm not a DJ, thanks), no playlist cover editors, no AI-curated playlists, nothing. Just plain listening to the music you want to listen to. It doesn't sit right with me ethically, but clearly, mainstream streaming services aren't ethical either, so .
