Why is this even a thing?

Why do I have to report to my time management tool that I am sick, then download an App without Authentication and then add all my information by hand? Employee number, or even username should be enough, you can pull everything else from IDM. Normally I shouldn’t even have to do anything.
I really don’t see the purpose of this app.
