Auf dem iPad Pro funktioniert nichts npm installiert nichts. Kein npx … Geld Verschwendung.

Die Tastatur öffnet sich oft nicht, ein Neustart ist nötig, das hält meist 1-2 min. Dann ist die Tastatur wieder verschwunden… Wenn ich im Terminal beispielsweise ein pip-Paket installiere, dann kann ich keine Leerzeichen mehr im Terminal schreiben, das Terminal rutscht pro Leertastendruck um ca. 8 Zeilen nach unten. Somit ist CodeApp leider absolut unbrauchbar da ich nicht mal die Möglichkeit habe vernünftig Eingaben zu machen ohne alle 1 bis 2 min. CodeApp neu zu starten… (Nutze IPhone XR)

...Wenn alles wie angepriesen funktionieren würde.
Leider immer noch einige Fehler bzw. merkwürdige Verhaltensweisen im Editor, die einem die Arbeit erschweren.
Npm Pakete lassen sich nicht installieren, selbst die Beispiele von der Herstellerseite laufen nicht.
Bug reports auf Github werden nicht beantwortet.
Alles in allem das Geld leider nicht wert.

Many bugs, keyboard constantly disappearing until you restart the app. No LSP for any language besides JavaScript. For JavaScript most of npm create xy commands don‘t work which makes setting up projects a major pain. No Support for build systems like CMake for C++ or Maven for Java. Somewhat useful for toying around or when you are learning to program. Stay away if you actually want to get work done.

Leider werden auf einem Linux-Host weder Softlinks auf Verzeichnisse unterstützt noch kann man auf einem sFTP-Host auf ein beliebiges Verzeichnis außerhalb des User-Homes wechseln (z.B /etc/ und nicht nur /home/user).

Das macht das Programm für mich praktisch nutzlos, der Editor scheint sonst ausgereift. Schade!

At it's current stage, this is probably more a proof of cocept than a real IDE. There are a lot of bugs and I couldn't manage to write a simple static web application.
I still feel like this has a lot of potential though, I really hope this becomes better over the years.

toggling tabs does not work!
Die Idee ist super, aber leider klappt es noch nicht einmal, die Tabs ein- und auszublenden, um mehr Platz auf dem Display zu haben.
Da nützen mir auch die ganzen Features nichts, wenn Burtons einfach nicht funktionieren, schade!

I love the app but I‘m really missing an Apple Watch app. Why are all Texteditors for iOS disregarding this feature?

Here is my envisioned Workflow:
I go for a run. Suddenly a Realisation strikes me: I finally understand why the united test failed. I pause my workout. Do a couple of quick edits on my Apple Watch, push the new code to git and when I’m back home I can already see whether or not any build or test failed.

First of all, an incredible THANK YOU to the developers for an app that allows you to do a bit of local development without a cloud connection.

It's also great that you can simply install TypeScript via npm. However, I would also like to be able to run it locally with one click. Running locally is possible (but a bit cumbersome) with 2 commands on the terminal (an npm script with “&&” somehow doesn't want to work). What I want to say: Custom local build configurations would be awesome.

The dream would be completely local React development with Nx, ESLint, Prettier and StyleLint. However, I fully accept that this is likely out of scope for this app :D

Sie sollten ein paar plugins rein machen in die appist einfach super clean und sehr gut ich bin ein leidenschaftlicher Dev der für kostenlose Leute Bots auf Discord erstellt Daher braucht hier auch ein terminal wo man Plugins installieren kann oder herunterladen sollte sorry wegen Rechtschreibung

It makes you feel right at home as far as file management and multi file programming is concerned. It has everything you will ever need.
My only complain is that it doesn‘t support CMake. Yes you can create the file but you wont be able to run it as you normally do in VSCode for example. You are only constrained to the run button on the topbar.

Die IDE ist bei weitem nicht so gut wie ihre Desktop Artgenossen, doch ist sie Gleichzeitig die einzig Sinnvolle Alternative für das iPad. Es kommen stetig Updates und wer nur für die Vorlesung mittippen und keinen Laptop mitschleifen möchte, der wird hier fündig.
Es gibt der Zeit nun mal nichts Besseres.

The Editor looks pretty good. Its a far cry from what VSCode and its countless Plugins can offer, but for the iPad it is defnitly in the upper class of editors.

The added SFTP / Remote-Storage support is very welcome. I use a RasPI with Wifi-Access-Point to do all my development on.

For that, this App offers a less complicated Workflow then Textastic, while keeping a similar coding experience.

If I could make a wish, it would be a Vim control-scheme , like you can create it with plugins under VSCode.

Otherwise thumbs up.

Wenn noch die kleinen Probleme mit dem Terminal behoben werden ist dies mit Abstand die beste Programmierer App im Appstore. Besonders wenn man von VSCode kommt. Es ist bestimmt noch Luft nach oben für eigene Themes, Outline und erweiterter Clang Support.

Code App ist teils sehr ausgereift, teils etwas schwierig, aber eine gut Lösung fürs iPad. Man muss halt einige Dinge selbst im Auge behalten, SSH nach Unterbrechung neu laden, Verzeichnisse selbst aktualisieren, aber dann hat man eine ganz gute IDE, mit der man synchron über verschiedene mobile Devices arbeiten kann.

Ja, die Möglichkeiten auf dem iPad sind eingeschränkt, daran kann auch Code App nichts ändern. Dafür macht es aber einen sehr guten Job: Wenn ich unterwegs ein bisschen was ausprobieren möchte und kein Netz habe, kann ich das lokal in CodeApp machen. Und wenn ich unterwegs an einem größeren Projekt arbeite, kann ich mich per SSH mit meinem Mac zu Hause verbinden, habe Zugriff auf Files und Terminal und kann die Infrastruktur des Macs nutzen (z. B. Docker etc.). Code App macht es mir hier leicht mit einem guten Editor inkl. Code Completion und einem einfachen Zugriff per SSH. Damit löst sie für mich mein Code-Server Setup ab, das ausschließlich Remote funktioniert und nicht immer zuverlässig war.
