Great idea

I had really high hopes for ROOM8 especially given the star ratings but ultimately it was a disappointment. The concept is great and really wanted to use since I’m about to relocate to a new area. However everything just loads to the point of ROOM8 not even being usable. Just setting up the account took multiple tries because it just would just spin once I linked my LinkedIn account. At first, I thought it was my internet but I have since tried it at multiple locations where I know the internet is fine and strong. Eventually I just linked my email and finally was able to create my new account. Tried checking out the locations and ended up deal with the same thing. Once I clicked on a place to check it would just load forever. So here I am leaving this review and about to delete ROOM8 hopefully whatever is causing it will be fixed.

Cool app that is easy to navigate and you can meet potential roommates. You can also directly reach out to roommates who may be a good fit. Only thing that’s a little inconvenient is the fact your “chats” don’t show up. I’ve been chatting with a potential roommate and I was able to be notified of this via email and notifications, however the messages don’t appear in the chat. It would’ve been difficult had I not had these outside app features. Otherwise I wouldn’t have known anyone was reaching out to me. That’s the only reason I’m voting 3 stars & not 4. The messaging aspect is such a pivotal point when finding roommates that you don’t personally know. ROOM8 is ineffective without it working.

Great idea, but

Generally, the Apple ecology is more accessibility friendly then other types. However, as with all things in this time we are in, this seems to be slipping. There are unlabeled buttons and edit fields and there are edit fields that simply don't appear when using apples native voiceover interface. I had to take a bus to find a tech person to interface for a simple issue that could've been solved with correct web design. Suspecting that this will not be a usable product for anyone requiring accessibility.

Just what I was looking for!

Where has ROOM8 been all my life?! Moving is a challenge, but finding good roommates can be especially difficult. ROOM8 was not only was easy to use but actually made the process FUN. Who can say that about moving?!

I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for good roomies!!!

Too many glitches

Every time I tried to filter the searches for places to rent, it wouldn’t let me hit the button at the bottom that says “see results”. I also couldn’t see any of the chats once I opened ROOM8 . I had to go trough my email first or open ROOM8 from a notification that said “____ has sent you a message” otherwise I wasn’t able to view the chats. ROOM8 could be really awesome if there weren’t so many bugs. I don’t have the patience to wait for them to be fixed. Sorry

App doesn’t work for Atlanta

Atlanta has two main areas. ITP means “inside the perimeter” and OTP means “outside the perimeter”. The perimeter is an interstate highway that encircles the entire city.

ROOM8 allows you to choose one of the two main areas then you have to select “neighborhoods” that you want to live in. When selecting ITP, it only gives you a list of cities that are located “outside” of the perimeter when ITP means “inside” the perimeter. In fact, none of the neighborhoods are actually located in Atlanta. Additionally, they aren’t even actual neighborhoods. They are all cities/suburbs located way outside of Atlanta.

Great app for finding roommates!

Terrific app! It makes the whole process of finding roommates easy and enjoyable! I loved the automatic matching of interests that goes on in ROOM8 ’s background and the ease of navigation !

I don’t exist

I wish I could use ROOM8, but it requires you enter a “neighborhood” when creating an account, and won’t let you proceed without doing so first.

Unfortunately ROOM8 doesn’t seem to recognize the area I live in as a Metro area, and only lists well-know cities and neighborhoods so it’s impossible for me to complete my account. According to ROOM8, my neighborhood of Pensacola, FL doesn’t exist.

I wish I could use ROOM8 , but...

A little issue.

Pretty nice straight forward app. The issue I have is when I block a person, they are still able to send me messages. The only thing blocking does is removes my text bar so I can’t send texts, but they are able to keep texting me.

No words are loading

I have been having issues being able to answer questions because when the prompted pops up no words appear it’s just the options, and even the answers are blank.

Can’t delete

this app won’t provide an option to delete (remove) your profile. You can “deactivate” but not remove. When will companies learn that this is so bad for business?

Update - this app responded to resolve the issue.

Can’t even make a profile

I logged in with Facebook and I can’t select my birth year, which is annoying but I would like for my actual age to show up. I’m 18 and I was born in 2000, but the selection menu doesn’t go past 1999. I don’t have an apartment and I’m looking for one, but no matter how many times I click “find a room” it asks me to list an apartment for rent. Disappointing to say the least.

No text

Trying to set up my account and preferences but there is literally no text on my screen. I can see the calendars, (yes/no) options but not which month it’s for or the questions? Fix this please. For the love of god, I’ve tried deleting and down loading it again and restarting ROOM8 . So annoying

Worked like a charm

Really easy to use and looks impressive. Best part is that you can not only find roommates but friends too.

Perfect roommate!

I have been looking for a new channel to find roommates in New York for a while as Craigslist and Facebook weren't enough. Highly recommend it!!
