Great Source For Anything!

I love this app so much just because of the entertainment it gives alone. I love seeing new stuff coming out like technology, crypto/stocks (any market stuff), animal videos, political stories and most recent stuff happening in the world, history, art, music, fitness/yoga/health, crazy cars, crazy stunts, funny videos and pictures, so on and so on. I could list way more stuff but I would take me forever. Those are just the ones that stood out to me while writing this. And finding people and talking to them about certain things can help shape the way you think about those topics. It also taught me how to “agree to disagree”. I feel like a lot of younger people of the newer generations have a hard time with that. I myself had that problem. I’m about to be 21. All though real life experiences shape you a lot more because you can express tone and emotion. In text that’s very hard to read if the discussion/comment isn’t detailed. You also don’t know the person at all so you have to keep that in mind. Sign up ASAP! If you need a source for anything you can think of, this app most definitely has a /r for you. You won’t regret it!

Please let me remove the scroll button!

Overall Reddit is quite good. Very fluid, easy to navigate to my favorite subreddits quickly; basically does everything I’d expect from a this app client. HOWEVER, there is one feature that drives me absolutely batty. The scroll button. You know the one. The one where you accidentally click it and it sends you to the bottom of the thread you’re currently reading. There is already a perfectly good feature for this: pressing and holding on the screen collapses the current top-level comment and all child comments. I have had Reddit since the day it came out and have never, not once, pressed that button on purpose. Most of the time I just stick it in the top right corner and it stays out of the way, where it still creates a minor visual annoyance, but if that was all that happened I would not be writing this review. No, not only can I not get rid of it, it won’t even stay where I put it. Every so often, the button will jump back to its default location, and will not let me move it above that height on the screen. It’s annoying, it’s USELESS, because as I said there is already a feature that accomplishes the same thing, and I can’t remove it. Absolutely horrible feature.

Please remove it from Reddit or at the very least give me an option to remove it. As it stands Reddit is two stars. Remove this infernal button and it will be five.

You cannot have an opinion and you have to think the same way everyone else does :/!

The issue with this app is you can’t actually have an opinion, and by that I mean valid opinions that are harmless such as which chip flavor is better or little things like that. The downvote feature penalizes you for getting downvoted, such as it’ll hide your comments or not let you post on certain subreddits if you don’t have enough. For example on the hello fresh subreddit, there was a question asking if they think the price is worth it and only people who agreed yes had upvotes and they downvoted anyone who said they personally didn’t feel like it was worth it. You make a thread asking a question and to have people voice their different harmless opinions, yet they got downvoted? This just proves you have to think the same mindset as everyone else, which is just not how the real world works. The downvote feature should be replaced with if a comment gets reported a certain amount of time it’s automatically deleted, since there could be racist comments or creepy ones that need to get deleted which is understandable. Yet it’s tiring to get downvoted for simple things. People will literally go as far as checking your whole post history and page just to add on to a downvote and prove their point, which is super … odd to me. I honestly just don’t like posting at this point, because even for simple questions I get downvoted if people find it too boring, which is dumb.

Censoring People & Turning A Blind Eye

this app can be a nice platform for many people for many things such as cooking, music, discussions about video games, etc.
My biggest issue regarding this platform is the lack of accountability people face. For example, when there is a problem with a moderator being rude or abusing their power to ban people, the this app Administration turns a blind eye. They don’t listen and claim they are “sorry” but they truly aren’t. They don’t care. There are rules for moderators and for subreddits so that no one crosses the line; however, it has become hypocritical they list these rules yet they never enforce them. I have reached out to the administration to make them aware of this fact. They say there is nothing they can do to help. this app, like many social media platforms that exist today, can offer wonderful experiences. The issue arises when these platforms don’t take responsibility for censoring people that never deserved it, and looking away when there are people who are actually breaking rules and spreading hateful comments. It is the one of the most toxic experiences anyone could have. Especially, when you know your voice doesn’t actually mean anything because at the end of the day, it won’t matter to them because you are just one person. This is very concerning and wrong. this app needs to be put into check or else they will continue this negligent behavior.

Banned for no reason

Reddit is so sensitive. I got heavily downvoted then BANNED PERMANENTLY for saying ‘I think you need to read the post again..’ which the person did.. He asked a question that was ANSWERED IN THE POST and was heavily informed about that exact question. And since I got downvoted hard, and I guess some people reported me, I got banned. I tried to make another account but they banned that one too. I’m scared that they banned my IP address because my mom uses this app and I don't want her account to get banned just because mine did..

I looked up this issue and this is a HUGE problem on this app. You literally can’t have your own opinion on Reddit, or say anything that will POSSIBLY upset people. And if you do, its downvotes, downvotes, downvotes. Then it will be led by subreddit banning or permanent banning. I can understand if someone was being racist, homophobic or just disrespectful. But I see the simplest comments get downvoted. One time, on r/aww it was a video of a woman with her dog at the gym and the dog was being cute or whatever. Some people were wondering why she was allowed to have a dog at the gym so someone answered saying, “She owns the gym, so thats why the dog is there:)” and it had -30 DOWNVOTES??!! WHY?! People on that app are SO sensitive! And they were right!! I looked it up and she did own the gym! And guess what? I tried to click on their account and it was banned. Probably for literally just that one comment.

Do better this app.

Mods have too much power

The way this app works essentially is that anyone can claim a subreddit that isn’t already taken and create their own mod team. This means if you don’t want people to talk about baseball cards and you are the first person to get the subreddit r/baseballcards you can essentially shut down any conversation from ever happening about the subject on the platform. Not only that, if they actually want to let people talk about it they can police and ban them w/o giving any reason meaning subreddits often become home to power hungry mods who ban you for disagreeing with them even if not directly. this app has no problem with this because the site is big enough that the people effected don’t make enough noise to cause problems for the rest of the users nor do they have any form of recourse. They can appeal to the mod team of the subreddit but they will more than likely end up talking to the person who banned them. You can appeal directly to the this app mod team but like I said, they won’t care because as a mod you can ban anyone for any reason so they will say they aren’t breaking any rules. And don’t fool yourself if you are thinking this kind of degenerate mod behavior is exclusive to political subs and the like, it is every corner of this app. The mods have too much power so of course it goes to their heads. There needs to be some kind of standard mods are held to, it has completely ruined the website.

Fix the Bottom Bar Please!

Writing a review hoping this gets fixed so I can change the rating to five stars. Reddit will randomly change the orientation of the tabs at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes Reddit will open with my home page and five buttons at the bottom with the notifications on the far right, which is ideal. However, sometimes it opens to the world news tab and instead of a notifications tab, there is one that says “more” with three dots, where I can then click on notifications from a menu. Not only is this an annoying extra couple steps, there is no need for it since there is nothing else. On top of that, when I view my notifications this way, I cannot get to my profile in the same notifications tab. I can bring up the sidebar while viewing notifications, but when I click on my profile it just returns to my notification feed. Thought it was something that surely would have gotten caught and fixed quickly but Reddit was updated two days ago and this is still happening.

Banned for speaking the truth.

I saw a news piece on the news section stating. Things in regards to sex change operations for transgender‘s. Along with how kids should be able to start taking steps to transition as young as the age of four. So I then commented that I do not believe that it is right that taxpayer dollars should have to pay for a transitioning surgery. If it’s so important and you want it done you should get it done yourself with your own money and not tax payer dollars. And I also said that for young people they should not be able to take any steps in regards to transitioning until they are adults themselves. They should not even be thinking about that kind of stuff let alone start transitioning at 4 years old. I cannot believes that these honest and truthful statements were enough to get me banned but there are this app pages with such gruesome stuff that is not a problem . But because what I said is truthful and a hard pill to swallow by many I was banned. And they won’t even let me delete my account now. I will never support the organization that allows one very sensitive side to silence another without valid reason. I do not and will never support this app. They are fearful to let facts or truth of one side be on their site. Show which way their organization leans. :: I’ll give you a hint it’s not in the direction of free speech.

I am not afraid to speak the truth and never will.

The Real Problem

So I’ve been on this app for around a week and I really loved it! The community was great and there was a lot to do there until recently. One day I went on and seemed to not be able to comment or post anything. I then found out a thing called being Shadowbanned which is what this app dose to people if they break there rules. I find this reasonable as there needs to be a moderated platform for people. I looked more into it and went to the subreddit r/shadowban to see if I was shadowbanned and turns out I was. I then took the past 30 mins to got though the comments and posts I ever made and didn’t see anything. Of course if I got shadowbanned I have to happen to break the rules somehow, so I went to the mods them self’s to not be unshadowbanned but more of what I did wrong. Unfortunately to the dismay of me they never replied so I sent them any message asking kindly what I have done. The same thing happened and to this day I still don’t know why I got shadowbanned. Though all of this I’ve made 3 accounts and all shaowbanned trying to to break the rules, one of those accounts I literally made only 3 comments. I never written a Apple review before but Reddit has gotten me so upset I had to write a review. this app needs to implement something for people and get there acted together if they ever want me back again, I’m really disappointed with everything they did.

New update is broken and frustrating

After the new 2022 update where they removed the communities tap and put in a discovery tab is just annoying. I’m still not use to it. I keep clicking it trying to get to my communities by mistake. I already follow all the communities I want to, and if I want to find a new community for an interest, I just search it in the search bar. Plus the “drawer” for my communities does not work. Every time I click it, it doesn’t load anything. So basically I haven’t even been able to use this app for the past few weeks since the update. No point in using Reddit till this problem is fixed. The Communities tab needs to go back down to the hot bar. And the discovery tab should be moved elsewhere. Maybe it can pop up after selecting the search bar. That way if someone wants to search for new communities, they can get recommendations under the search bar before they start typing. Also bring back the alphabet select for communities we follow. It makes searching through 100+ communities easier. Summary: new update is broken and can’t access my communities drawer because nothing loads. And the new discovery tab that replaced the communities tab needs to be moved elsewhere, and the communities tab needs to go back down to the bottom for quick access.

Where are my communities?

Well, it finally happened - I finally ditched the official this app app for a this app client. A lot of users have had issues with many of the updates and general usability of the official app
over the last couple of years but I hung in there. The final straw for me was when an update released a couple of weeks ago made it so my communities no longer display and it times out whole searching for them. I researched it, and others are experiencing the same thing which has been reported to this app but no fix has been provided in the handful of subsequent updates. I tried out a few other options and landed on an app that is reminiscent of this app’s glory days, complete with a responsive developer who interacts with the community and updates Reddit based on suggestions from actual users. Sorry this app, I love the platform but your app has degenerated so much I’ve decided it’s time to go - I’m leaving you for a third party app. Even if this bug were to be fixed and you change your ways, I’m happy with my new crush and don’t foresee myself coming back to you. It was fun while it lasted and I’ll look back on those years fondly, but you’ve changed for the worst - best of luck to you and your developers. Off I go, to spend time with my new this app squeeze :)

Perfect App

this app is the best social media app available out of every single social media app that the majority of the population uses, like even though TikTok is very main stream right now, it can get really old, always seeing the same videos and what not, but this app however is like a fresh breath of air, constantly updated, pages for every single content out there- literally anything you can think of and you want to see wether it’s just a hobby, something funny, wanting to learn new stuff or even just people fighting, wanting to find something new, or you are curious legit anything you can think of you will be able to find a this app page for it, I never have any issues with this app— no lagging, no connection issues, I never seen the same videos over and over again, Reddit is super easy to use and learn so no excuses to not have Reddit unless you just really don’t want to download it or have an account, you can just go through this app with a guest account aswell, perfect app! Deserves all 5 stars I gave it, keep doing you this app !! 😁😁😁☺️

Stupid gif playing

Currently Reddit likes to open some gifs like their livestream content. Meaning, swiping moves to the next stream, and not the next post in the subreddit. Extremely annoying. Gif continues playing when viewing comments (most annoying when their is sound). Gifs auto play with sound even though I have the setting set as never auto play (probably for videos, but this should apply to gifs, especially with sound). Keep them separate from the livestream interface which is annoying as heck. Maybe it’s not livestream, but directly uploaded videos hosted on this app. IDK. But the interface disrupts a smooth browsing experience. Don’t make it a separate interface. Just make it like it was. Gifs and videos should not be like the livestream interface. That should just be thrown out, since it bumps you to content other than what sub you were on when you try to swipe for the next post. Try it. Click on a video/ gif. It’ll be the broadcast interface allowing you only to swipe up or down to the next broadcast. You can swipe to it and it’ll be like normal from the previous post. FIX IT. Broadcast navigation is terrible. Stop pushing it. It’s so disruptive I am switching to Apollo until it is fixed.

Not Working, Design Changes Hurt User Experience

Reddit was working just fine until the recent updates where this app has (1) swapped the video player with a TikTok wannabe video players and forced videos to sticky to the top of posts and (2) replaced the bottom communities tab that conveniently listed recent communities, favorited communities, and all other joined communities with an Pinterest-like browse tab which includes none of my communities. Now to get my communities list I have to tap a More button in the left - which is difficult to reach on an iPhone 12 Max - to open a side pane that wasn’t loading until I opened and closed Reddit a bunch of times (suggested by an admin on r/Redditmobile). What’s even worse is that if I want to jump to another one of my communities I **cannot**. I’m forced to tap the arrow in the top of the screen to exit the community, then I have to tap the More button to open the pane AGAIN, and then I can scroll to my desired community. The extra tap is annoying and frustrating. I wish these forced changes were optional so I could sidestep these weird choices whatever leaders at this app are forcing because they want to increase engagement in more boring normie communities that may have more ads.

I love Reddit but this app man…

I don’t understand why I can’t do broad searches within the this app app but rather have to search it in safari. Although frustrating, I have gotten used to having to google search my questions/communities BUT what really begins to frustrate me is that when I search in safari, 99% of the time I have to open it in app to view the posts which is always such a process. I have to click “take me to app” and it always takes me to Reddit Store- it never actually opens in app. Then, what’s even more annoying is there are so many updates that before I can even enter Reddit I have to wait for Reddit to update for the millionth time. And mind you, I search for answers on this app more than I probably should so I have to do this process of updating Reddit and then click at least 5 times to take me to Reddit before it even opens in Reddit !! Like it doesn’t register the first few times and just takes me to Reddit Store where I press “open” only to be brought to the main this app feed and not what I searched for. So while I am unable to read it on safari I am also unable to read it in Reddit . Super frustrating!
I love this app I just feel like this shouldn’t be an issue so I’m hoping someone sees this to make Reddit more user friendly!

An interesting type of app

Reddit is a very unique app because of the countless communities this place has, you can just scroll scroll down once and you can find another great subreddit just waiting for you, not to mention most subreddits are incredibly funny, interesting, and some directed to your liking. Granted, Reddit has minor flaws, such as the people that overreact to the slightest things, the fact some videos can break your ears, and some can even show you something weird, or gross. But the fact that there’s so many good things, plus some bad things might not even exist for you, weigh down the negative things about Reddit for miles on end that they don’t bother you at all really, it’s a good app and it pretty much cures any boring time, (not at funerals, Not at funerals, not at funerals, not at funerals) and it allows people to express their creativity in many ways, Reddit is worth getting for the entertainment it will give you

Now requires account to follow

I’m not really into social media due to the lack of privacy and mundane content. this app is the most I do. I really liked that I could follow more positive, uplifting feeds and as a result didn’t have to stroll thru everything. Since it was updated (the previous one, not the one 5 days ago), now it asks you to create an account to follow specific feeds. I don’t know if you can still view only your chose feeds cuz I don’t care to create an account when I didn’t have to before. Looking at this app in its entirety influences me negatively, hence the reason I only followed Calvin & Hobbes, Earth Porn, Humans Being Bros, and Animals Being Bros. Before the update, this app started with my feed and I had the option to view Popular. Now all you have is Popular and News. I gave the new update a try for over two months but now I find myself feeling anxious or angry after strolling this app, just as I used to do before I began following more positive feeds only. Creating an account may be a simple matter for many but it’s not for me. To me it’s another way for tech to have some of your private information when it’s not necessary. I don’t do comments or votes so why should I have to sign in? So after giving the new this app a try, I’ve decided it’s best for me to delete it.

By

I haven’t had any issues with the app till now—video player, I’m looking at you.

Man, sometimes I like to watch 5 second long videos, read the comments for a couple minutes, and get on with my day. Unfortunately now I can’t even do that because the video keeps looping, which turns my comment reading session into a torture session. Come on, is that tiktok ripoff trend so lucrative that you have to jump on it too? Nobody on this app wants tiktok on the platform—if they did they’d be using tiktok. Stop trying to be like the social media giants and go back to being your own thing! That’s why your user base exists and you’re gonna lose a lot of us if you keep making these awful choices.

Ok but for real, the video player UI is just awful. On everything else the upvote/downvote buttons are on the left, but on the video player they’re on the right. The pause button is tiny. Pressing the “comments” icon takes you to the video instead of the comments, and to read the comments you have to pause the video first (if you care about your sanity). Scrolling on the video no longer takes you to the comments but to another random video.

You can do better. Or wait, how bout you just go back to what was there? I never had an issue with the old player.

One annoyance...

I honestly like the official this app app way better than any other third-party apps I've tried. However, I have one minor annoyance that's grown into a major gripe over time: whenever I use Safari to Google search something, and a this app post is in the search results, if I click the link there's a pop-up that says "See this app in..." and I have the option to open the page in the this app app or continue with the web browser. My problem is, whenever I try to open the page in the this app app, I'm sent to Reddit store as if I hadn't installed Reddit . I have never been able to open a link from Safari in the this app app, and I've tried everything. Reddit is up to date, I've tried opening Reddit before clicking the link and it still won't take me to Reddit .

Honestly, if this was fixed I'd give 5 stars. The this app app is really good. But this is just so annoying, and it's difficult to search for a specific post within Reddit so there's no real workaround. So I'm just hoping the devs see this and find a way to fix it. I'm using an iPhone XR 128GB, if that matters.

Somebody Janked Up iOS Users Posting This Update

Sooooo... I literally CAN NOT post anywhere now because I am getting the message "Not Allowed In This Community" on every single subreddit. I can comment, vote, give awards, and even spend currency on your app without any issue...

??!!BUT I CAN'T POST ANYWHERE BECAUSE YOUR iOS APP IS MAKING ME AS EITHER NSFW OR SOMETHING ALONG THAT LINES THAT'S LEFT ME BARRED FROM DOING THE ONE THING I USE this app FOR!!??

It's not just myself but also many other iOS users whom are experiencing the exact same problem with no response, fix in app, tech support, or an update to fix this MAJOR BUG. If you aren't aware of this issue by now then you should be. An I can go figure you are all well aware; but you just don't care unless it is affecting a large majority, all users, or could hinder the income of this lazy but more than capable to be a better company regardless of current worth it should/could be... Money and Power must truly be something... Because every company that is built on a foundation of users like myself; every last one of these companies have forgotten why they are running a social networking community to begin with. For the user becomes a thing of the past... Every time... An it becomes ALL ABOUT HOW MUCH MORE OF A PERCENT THEY CAN NET NEXT ROUND

Great app. Users are way to argumentative

Like the title says, upvotes and karma and coin rewards only make the problem way worse. People are always trying to prove themselves to strangers for that karma that ANYTHING you say gets turned into an argument. And I mean ANYTHING. It gets exhausting and it stops me and everyone I know that uses the platform from engaging in any way other than up and down voting. Commenting and participating just isn’t worth it. 3 stars because the platform is obviously designed that way on purpose even though most people don’t like participating because of it. I guess they think it raises engagement but I’m sure if the many people who avoid commenting because they don’t feel like arguing would add a lot more engagement. I know I’d participate a lot more often if I didn’t have to worry about having to reply to some A hole with an opinion on a comment I made a week ago. Maybe make upvoting and downvoting a post thing and take the number away from comments like some subs do. Maybe people would be less inclined to circle jerk if there wasn’t a “point” system and more people would join the platform and stop thinking everyone who used this app is a weeb with no social life that likes to argue with strangers.

The most unique and customized social media platform out there

Many people look at me like I’m a nerd or dweeb when I say something about this app, but that’s just because they’ve never used it. this app possesses its own culture, comment memes, and sense of humor and it is just delightful. It’s where you can have a simple epiphany that gains you underserved adoration from thousands of random Redditors, and where you might just have the cofounder ask you if you’re his brother (both of which have happened to me, thank you Mr. O’Hanion). this app creates a feed based on your interests. There are thousands of subs dedicated to very specific things, many of which you didn’t even realize you were interested in. It’s not like FB or IG where you scroll and hope to find something interesting or relevant to you. On this app, the feed is made up of things you subbed to, and after you create a feed, you get to get your hands dirty in the comments... just do it, you won’t regret it.

Popular section glitch

The popular section is kind of broken. The vast majority of posts on there come from r/soccer, r/liverpoolfc, etc. Soccer subreddits. I don’t watch soccer, I don’t care about soccer. So how come a post from r/soccer with 200 upvotes is on the front page ahead of more interesting posts with 10,000 upvotes?

My theory is that they’re trying to “personalize” the popular tab. But first: it’s not working, because I’ve never been to r/soccer, I’ve never posted, commented, or upvotes a single thing on that sub. So if it were trying to personalize, it’s doing a bad job. Second: why would the popular tab be personalized? That’s what the regular home tab is for, because it only shows posts from subs you’re subscribed to. The popular tab is just for the most popular stuff on this app, regardless of whether or not you’re subscribed there.

Basically, this is either feature that isn’t working, or it’s a bug. If it’s a feature that isn’t working properly, let me opt out, because even if it worked properly I don’t want any part of it. And if it’s a bug, please fix it.

Welcome to your community

I’ve known about this app for a long time. My partner constantly sent me links of such random interesting bits of information, memes, news articles, conspiracy theories, etc. But it always seemed like a scrolling trap to me. I decided to download Reddit on a whim and shortly after created an account. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder about a year ago and the hardest part was having no one in my life to truly connect with over my experiences. I looked for online forums, support groups, even hotlines in desperation. But it all felt surface-level and people couldn’t really share what’s truly on their minds. I was spiraling. I found a community on this app of people who were in my exact same boat. this app provides a platform for people to connect in a relaxed and creative way to share what’s truly in their hearts and minds. There is a subreddit for almost anything. I can’t recommend Reddit enough.

Amazing app, totally recommend.

This is a great app for things such as news articles, petitions, horrible facebook memes, interesting pictures or videos, or even some regular memes for a good laugh. However, this app doesn’t do a very good job of filtering through every post or comment to see if it is appropriate and follows the community’s guidelines. I had made a comment to a post on r/memes, saying “ah yes, those dang cows, always there when you least expect it.” About 3 seconds after I had posted the comment, I got a notification that read “Your comment has been removed as your account does not meet our posting requirements. You can visit....” I was very confused because I thought that the comment was appropriate for said community and did not break any of their rules. Other than that, it is very easy to use and a great way to un-bore you anywhere you are, whether it’s the doctor’s office, waiting for the bus to arrive, in the car, in your room, etc. Please download Reddit.

Good app, Sharing Options are TERRIBLE

Reddit works great and is getting better all the time. If you’re here to browse this app on your own it works perfectly. However, if you want to share anything you find, you’re in for a confusing time.
this app feels the need to share the link to the post even if all you’re trying to share is an image. I get they want traffic to their site, but trying to share images via MMS becomes obnoxious because you’re always sharing the image AND the link.
In most messaging apps, this renders a preview of the image alongside the picture that was actually sent. So as the sender I either need to delete the link to just send the picture, or give in to their intentions and only send the link. But this is also an issue because sometimes the link opens in a web browser instead of the this app app, which then links to the respective App Store, and finally just opens the this app app. By the time you’re in the this app app you’ve already downloaded, the link was lost from all Reddit switching and the post doesn’t open at all.
My biggest issue is prepending this link to the image share BREAKS Airdrop completely because it refuses to send multiple items of different types, so the only Airdrop option is to only send the link to the post.

Despite this, I’ll continue using Reddit because it’s a solid experience for viewing content. But I’ll cringe every time I want to share something until this app lets ME choose when I want to send links.

It works well

I always used alien blue and still have it on my phone. The official this app app has crashed/frozen probably 2 times in the past year or so. I don't like the advertisements and never had them on the alien blue app, but I understand it's a necessary evil. I would like Reddit to have some different features but since I only use this app on mobile I don't have a fair view of what's offered on the website or the often lauded this app Enhancement Suite; I know I would like to sort by rising, switch between commenting and checking another sub this app (to reference or link) without loosing/ having to cut and paste my comment. I feel any issues I have with Reddit are likely larger issue with the company- for example the report function has gone to crap, you used to be able to just report and presumably a mod would review it but now you have to choose a specific rule that was broken and I think it'll dissuade new users from reporting when they should.

Great, But

The whole app is put together very well with a good system of rewarding the best comments by giving them more exposure by bumping to the top and the “Karma points” is like no other media app that I used. The minimalistic interface of the main page is easily navigated as well. It’s all great, BUT, the political subreddits that are so called “neutral” (/r politics /r worldnews) are 98% left leaning where the posts are predominantly liberal. Due to the demographics of this app(large young population/ academics/tech community/ etc) any opinion that questions their narrative or simply doesn’t agree, gets downvoted by the entire community, disproportionally downvoting your comment/post until you have negative karma points inevitably by stating your mind in “neutral” subreddits. There needs to be algorithms that pick up on these patterns that counter balance the bias or remove politics from Reddit altogether and create a political this app separate from this app. This will solve the problem of the echo chamber style subreddits and removed censorship from this free speech platform. That is all.

Reddit

Is pretty good. Just avoid the "Pro-vaccine cuz' the Doctors and Jimmy Kimmel tell me so and any evidence you lay out is tinfoil and all studies are by quacks...unless the study supports the lovely PSA's words I have most certainly seen and proclaimed as fact for all to know and besides you're not a doctor so you can't say anything so I'm right"(Slowly turn away with an uncomfortably forced smile) groups. (Yeah. Long. But, I'm on a long trip.) Warned because it's like talking to a pack of hyenas who's teeth were each replaced with a dying brain cell shared by many and any threat to that cell's stability and existence will be met with the veracity of angry giant but the intellect of a remote control's "yellow" button. Other than that parade of a hollow Webster's dictionaries riding in a float motorized by American destiny's canary in the coal mine and moved painfully by squared wheels, it's alright. Enjoy.

Frustrating update to comment collapsing

This review is specifically regarding the current update and not Reddit as a whole.

It's incredibly frustrating to have the method for collapsing a comment be completely changed without any notification other than what was nested in Reddit updates description. I don't understand why it was changed in the first place from just tapping the upper area of the comment next to the user name, but without any sort of note that it had been changed I spent a few minutes thinking Reddit was broken, and really only stumbled on the long tap functionality by accident. Would have never guessed to double tap a comment since that's usually reserved for upvoting things in other apps.

UX devs, PLEASE don't rewrite core functionality without giving users any update in-app that it's been rewritten. At least give a one-time pop up or something letting me know what it's been changed to.

Latest update a perfect example of devs who mess with the ui too much

Why oh why did the devs place the “give award” button right next to the share button, shifting everything over? Now every time I go to hit view comments, it brings up the share option. Because I’m so used to the old placement. I will truly never understand the though process behind changing UI that has been a certain way for so long. Would it not be possible to reduce the click box size for the share button? Or just move the award button back to its original place?

I never leave negative reviews on anything unless something genuinely pisses me off, and well, that button placement genuinely pisses me off. There are many other reasons to give Reddit 2 stars. Like the fact that you can’t save videos with sound, and the fact that they constantly change the UI more and more just to push you into giving them money. But all I really ask is if something isn’t broken, like the button placement, don’t change/fix it. Thanks.

Censorship

I have watched as this app, which I so deeply cherished, has become a cespool of alt left liberal ideals so much to the extent it has become unbearable. Today they crossed the final straw by quarantining the_donald perhaps the only mainstream outlet for conservative viewpoints and discourse. This type of censorship is unacceptable and sets a terrible precedent for private companies ability to control and manipulate information going forward. I don’t care what side of the political spectrum you lean on, this type of censorship ship should terrify you. I understand that they are a private company and completely capable of choosing what content gets published, but this app pretends to be a neutral form of free expression, and thus should behave accordingly. By silently censoring conservative voices, while allowing many other subreddits which partake in much worse behavior than the_d but simply align to their own leftist ideals, they are lying to their users and greatly damaging free expression. this app claims to be the front page of the internet, and that upvote/downvote system brings this all together, but what is point if they pick what they want it’s users to see anyway.

Good if you’re a democrat.

Reddit is filled with wonderful ideas, pictures, videos, and stories but the comment section completely ruin Reddit . Think of it like this, everyone is a professional about everything they see on Reddit . They judge you quickly and without a full review of who you are, and they’re from what I’ve encountered mostly leftist. God forbid you actually like your president because they will belittle you to nothing before you can even share you ideas. Even the news section that happens to be one of the biggest subs to this app is all Trump this and a Trump that instead talking about anything worth a read. Personally, I still use Reddit even though it’s filled with know it alls and quick to judge liberals because I can cut most of it out by not looking at comments and only following subs where political input has no place and even then people will tether Trump to the situation so if you’re already tired by the constant hate parade on Trump then I don’t think you’ll be interested in Reddit.

Great app - News needs work

I love the this app community in general and Reddit makes interacting with this app a pleasure.

The news section is another story. Without the news tab, I’d give Reddit a 4 or 5, but this section is super frustrating. For example, your choices for politics is ‘politics’. There is no way to filter out the questionable news sources (which is most of what appears in this feed). As a result this is a complete cesspool of sketchy and manipulative ‘news’. Facebook is being slammed for manipulating perception via misleading information disguised as news, but this feed is the exact same thing. I want to be able to select the sources of news that appear in this feed so I can choose reputable sources and sources that I want to see to triangulate my info. There are polarizing sources of news-like entertainment on both ‘sides’ of the political spectrum that nobody should be reading.

The current structure of this feed is contributing to the deepening divide in our country.

Overall great app

I’ve spent countless hours on Reddit over the past few years so I think I’ve experienced enough to leave a review. Even though I have a few complaints for the website itself I’ll exclude those from this review (this is for Reddit not the site). My biggest complaint would be the ability to play videos hosted on Reddit . Most of the time the video takes ages to load or doesn’t load at all. It really hurts the experience because a large portion of the content are videos. As for as searching directly for a post, it’s pretty much impossible. The “search bar” mechanic is completely broken and should only be used to find specific subreddits. Even though there are a few problems with Reddit it’s great overall. I recommend it to anyone who’s interested in a huge time killer. It’s perfect for people who have a problem with procrastination.
