Very good app - some improvements needed

Enjoy using onTime. Gives almost everything one could want tracking trains in and out of GCT. Think it would work fine for other stations. Like that it gives the track number of departing train’s because sometimes they come in on different tracks and thus avoids a scramble. Would like better tracking if trips in progress

Even the app is late

Metronorth has been promoting onTime more since there has been a huge issue with train timeliness these past few months. I was excited to download onTime so I could see where trains were and if they were on time. Well, leave it to metronorth to make a time focused app that’s still late. onTime is theoretically, good, in that its supposed to give you live time count downs and tell you where your train is along the route, however it’s not accurate. It’ll say your train is on time and then show up anywhere between 5-10 min late. The map will show your train coasting along the railway, but it’s not accurate. ie: as you’re waiting for your train that’s already late, the map will you you that it’s already stopped at your station and picked up passengers and is now on it’s way to the next station.

Latest upgrade not great

Just took the update today. Not a great experience. onTime is continually asking for permission to know my location. Shouldn’t need that.. I was very happy with my default home/work locations repopulated given time of day - it doesn’t do that anymore and doesn’t remember what I typed in previously when I restart. I went to Settings and unchecked some defaults -they don’t save through. I went to Support to give feedback directly (which I have successfully done before) and it won’t let me through without a phone number that they text to validate. Don’t think they need such personal info to continue the good experience I had before the update.

Clear but still not real time

Clear but still not real time even if you click the “Are you on this train?” Also reducing the countdown time to the next train departure to just minutes from minutes and seconds isn’t helpful at all. Even if the trains are late, when they are scheduled to leave this app those seconds really count getting there. The “Discover” button gets in the way and is pretty useless in my opinion. It also seems to be made in a way that forces you to accidentally hit the advertisements— I suppose that’s the real reason it’s there.

Latest versions lack past (helpful) features

When I first downloaded onTime in June 2017, it provided info on delayed trains (how many minutes late), and tapping on the schedule for a specific train opened a screen showing what stops that train would make. What happened to these features and this helpful info? I just got on a train that was 7 minutes late, but when I looked looked at onTime after 5 minute delay, it appeared that the train was already on its way to the next stop. onTime has become just the same as the printed timetables, nothing more.

Great but a little slow

This really helps to find the right train times. I particularly like the “load next day” button. I only wish that whoever made this terrific app would team up with the MTA, because their app could really use improvement.

A bit deceptive and and not ”on time”

onTime is not affiliated with MTA or MNR though it directs you to the MTA apps for buying tickets. I’ve been using it for a year but I discovered today it is delivering completely inaccurate info for my route. It’s calling most trains 60 minutes delayed. But I’m riding one of those now and we are on time! The conductor was baffled too. Had I relied on this instead of cross-checking with MTA’s official app I would have canceled my appointment. That’s unforgivable. Deleted.

Loved it but the update….

I use onTime for a year now and it was very useful and a good recommended app-it has helped me in so many ways, trust me it was a good app but unfortunately it failed to be useful due to its new update-everytime I leave the page it like erases the schedule. It’s annoying and time consuming to repeat typing in the location. Please change it back🙏🏼

Let’s you know what time your train leaves.

And what time you will be back at your home station! It tells you the track so you know where to go when you get to Grand central. In the morning it tells you what train you need to catch! Thank you metro north!

Simply convenient

onTime is such an improvement over the old ad and I really appreciate your ability to be able to check the train and get real timeScheduling information. TJ

Helpful, but only when people check in

The aspect I like most about onTime is that it can give you real-time estimates about how late the train is running. However, that only works when people check into their train ride and there is absolutely no incentive to do so. I would love to see incentives for checking in to make onTime more consistently useful.

Issues with Holiday train schedule

onTime is ok for day to day use and is pretty accurate at predicting departure tracks out of Grand Central. It’s a mess with holiday train schedule. Looked at it 4 different times and got 4 different schedules. For morning rush hour this is a huge inconvenience, especially as you are planning your commute. The pop-up ads got annoying as well.

Advertisements take over the whole screen

This used to be a 5 star app and I had been using it for years, but they now have advertisements pop up, take over the whole screen and makes you wait to close them out, just when trying to find out which train to catch.

Please change your advertisements to a bar at the bottom of the screen rather than taking over the whole page!

Reliable, Clean, Clear

I use onTime consistently for MetroNorth commuter and weekend sightseeing. Unlike MTA’s internal TrainTime app, this app needs only one tap for me to get the train information while slip sliding to the platform. The display is large and cleanly displayed. Train delays are made apparent in a glance. Simple and Reliable.

EXCELLENT APP!!!

I live in Westchester and SWEAR by onTime to be ACCURATE & CLEAR. Also has real time location on trains so you know EXACTLY where you are WHILE RIDING the train.
The announcements, inside eBillboard and station signs are much less clear. onTime is a MUST for MNR Commuters and others!

The best

This is the best METRO schedule app ever. It is always up. I can look at departed trains and see where are. The alerts are accurate and timely. When there are track changes it is accurate an quick. I love onTime.

It is a good app but needs to be a bit more friendly

Overall it is easy and self explanatory but needs to be a bit more user friendly and with a better design

Ads pop up when you need info fast

I have had to delete onTime several timeswhen trying to use it, because ads will pop up when I'm trying to get train information, and then you will be unable to swipe the ad away. So you are stuck looking at an ad for many seconds when you need train information.

Impossible to locate station->Station

I just downloaded onTime to possibly make a short train commute easier, checking times, arrivals, etc.
However, onTime can’t even complete a simple task of inputting information of a trip from one station to another.
I am trying to input the information such as berlin train station to New havens union station on the Hartford line in CT.
The inputs of stations don't exist, and a list of complicated street names pop up, making onTime very confusing, as i believe to have inputed the right streets, but it always comes up in error.
Maybe im using that app wrong, so im contacting support for this inquiry.
But onTime simply takes a simple task of a station-station input and makes it impossible.

Convenient, accurate, fast

Easy-to-use and determine the time to the next train. I wish you could more easily display the times you arrive so you can more easily see express versus local trains.

Was a decent app. Now it is garbage.

This was a useful app with simple functionality. There were some annoying adds, but one can understand that revenue has to be generated and that’s how the developers chose to make money.
Now the pop up adds with sound make it unusable. I would pay for their removal a fair price. However, $5 yearly subscription does not meet this standard. Now everything has to be subscription...even a simple train schedule. One makes a simple app and wants constant income stream for superficial maintenance.

Latest Update a Step in Wring Direction

Few versions ago they did away with countdown clock. They listened and fixed that. Now the latest version is terrible. If you leave it open in background it doesn’t know what time it is, which way you are going, and as others said, ads pop up and cover screen. Complete garbage now. Real shame.

Accurate and easy

Provides exactly what I need it - up to date train times including tracks and delays. I have definitely made trains because of this!

By

Used to be okay

A train schedule app is the last place you want to see ADS in. They never used to have ads, now you’ll be rushing through Grand Central trying to find your train, and they will show you a freaking VIDEO, as if it wasn’t the last thing in the world you want at that moment. Cheap and gross, find another Metro North app!

By

So useful

App is wonderful to use during my frequent trips to NYC. I have a variable schedule so I always check back to see what’s possible for getting in and out of Grand Central.
