Mevo - The Live Event Camera Reviews

In my initial days of live streaming, I could never get a good shot of myself and would cut parts of my body from the video. With the wide angle lens of the this app, I am always in the video. Camera setup is user friendly for the blind and Mevo is very accessible. I always recommend it to sighted and blind people alike. Thanks a trillion, becaus I could not adequately live stream without it. I still prefer to use the this app camera in spite of problems with Mevo . Since one of Mevo updates, I am still unable to add titles to any stream except You Tube. Adding a title to FaceBook and Periscope was simple for blind users on the earlier APP; However, now it is seemingly impossible.I have searched for help everywhere, but without results. I am using the Voice Over screenreader on the Apple Iphone for blonde users. This accessibility feature works great with the this app APP except provisions for titles and ending a stream. I slide from the (A) to end a stream, but Mevo is non-responsive most of the time. A simple “end stream button” labeled for blind users would be better for blind users. Through it all, I appreciate the developers of this great camera and APP!

I love what this camera is designed to do. I use this in several Live situations/ settings and I also use an iRig Pre and the iRig2 to get the audio, but there seems to be a issue with the audio processing in the software. Audio is perfect with everything except the this app app. Just sounds flat. I also have a hard time logging in and out of Facebook, as I use it for various clients. It couldn’t use it one evening, because Mevo refused to allow me to log my client out of Facebook and my iPhone wasn’t charged. My this app can be laggy at times at 2 to 3 feet away from the iPad. It loses connection a lot. I know that with the proper developer adjustments, this is going to be the “go to” camera for live streaming. I just pray that the updates are made. Overall, I still highly recommend it!

Unfortunately, this camera is very unreliable and very difficult to get hooked up. Many times the screen on the iPad goes blank while recording live. Sometimes we are not able to record our lives church services because we cannot get the camera to connect. We have tried using Apple phones, iPads and even Samsung phones, but to no avail. We even changed our internet provider to have faster, more reliable service. We added a WiFi extender to give a stronger signal...but none of these things worked out. Therefore, my two-star rating, which is probably a little on the generous side...because I don’t want to be too hard on them...maybe I should. I really feel as if we wasted our $700 and wish we could get it back and use it towards a better camera system. It’s disappointing that companies sell products that really do not function properly.

The software does what it says and it does it very well. I use it professionally on a weekly basis. this app is a paradigm shift from computer to cellular based live streaming. Gone are the heavy cameras, laptop stations, and cables. I find it truly worth the investment. I do have two issues with the software. The face detection in auto mode likes to lock onto things that are not faces... Thus it likes to cut to strange angles sometimes. Also, be careful with finger placement, touch the screen too long and the camera jump cuts to wherever your finger is... Usually ruining the shot. I would really like to have the ability to turn this feature off!! Hint-hint this app. All that said, this app is truly an amazing live streamer. Nothing compares to it in its price range.

Today is 4/8/18 and since the last update, this camera and app have become utterly useless. Despite my attempts at testing the stream with success, the device has a penchant for failing when it matters most. For an unknown reason, Mevo failed to connect to the camera and I decided to manually record with the camera and livestream through other means. I come home to check the footage and the file is corrupted and unplayable. Seriously? The camera couldn’t even record?! What’s the point of this device?! It is untrustworthy! Why does it obligate me to download an update and not give me the choice to skip it so I can focus on ensuring the stream is up and running and update it later? The reasoning behind this setup is beyond annoying and only serves to embarrass customers in front of their clients. Frankly, I’m done with this app!

This software can only be reviewed in light of the this app camera. That being said, it is a great package. I have used this both indoors and out. For live sporting events, concerts and speaking engagements. My setup is streamed via LTE thru either my iPhone or iPad. It uses about 500mb of data per hour.
Lighting is key for a crisp picture. Outdoors is always better (clearer, with less grain) but put light on your subject and it will give quality results.
The production team has kept the software updated, added streaming destinations and listened to users to add feature requests.

I use the this app multiple times a week and it works great! (We have a strong wifi signal and fast internet.)
However, in recent updates Mevo would really like me to make in app purchases. I’m not interested! I specifically bought this camera because it didn’t have ongoing costs involved. I wish there were a way to remove the purchasable options from the main screen.

I use this camera to do live steaming for our band gigs. Couldn’t ask for better. I use the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 connected to the this app Boost USB port and it hasn’t failed me yet. Since this review is about Mevo , I don’t really have any issues. I went ahead and purchased the Livestream monthly subscription for $10/mo. Well worth it. Livestream support has been great. Always very helpful. I do have the this app+. The only improvement in the camera that I would suggest is better low light.

Have tried working with this app several times deleting my this app app and resetting the camera then adding the 1.7.81 patch and now due to some weird update request once you go throu all the steps Facebook and this app will not update with each other. It becomes an infinity loop of stating update requires then you click update then it goes into Facebook and you click on continue on this app then kicks you back out and requests an update again. Never ending loop of Crap!

Honestly, I love the idea of the little device. The video quality is decent enough. It’s amazing how it tracks the speaker. It really is like a multi camera shoot in one box. I love it. However I can’t recommend it, unless you film in a studio with absolute control over the lighting. I bought this to use in my office where every location is a mix of daylight, florescent, and LED. Everyone looks like Oompa Loompas and I have to correct skin color in Adobe Premier. None of the white balance options work in my environment. Once this app adds a manual white balance option this review will be 5 stars.

The this app app is awesome the only thing is I wish I could change the type of transition. After using it every week for two years, I’m annoyed by having to cut from shot to shot. Some times it works but I would love to be able to do a cross fade transition. If you can do this feature, then I would like to change the type of transition during a live stream.

Mevo is slowly getting better and better. But truly needs to be added as an app for MacBook. This would be the game changer for me. And I would totally pay for Mevo for Mac. Plz plz plz put this on Mac!

Also: Countdown timer needs to be one that you can start or restart once you go LIVE, not once you select it. That little bug is sort of annoying. Otherwise great updates!

This is great! I love how you could add it to almost any one of your social media accounts! I just do not like how when you press the top and turn on Bluetooth for your device (for me, my phone) it takes a while to turn on. I watch videos and sometimes it is easy to connect and sometimes it take hours and soon I give up. Help?

The best way to go is to line in the audio from a board and do a mix bus send on the board to get the mix right. The mic on the camera sounds very distant. But I love the control and picture quality you have on the this app. We stream our church services on it. This is a great entry level way to achieve that, without dropping thousands in equipment. We love it.

Update: I restarted my phone and it’s working now.

My iPhone XR won’t connect to the this app since iOS 13 came out. I hoped iOS 13.1 would help, but still no luck. Luckily I haven’t updated my iPad yet so I will still be able to do the project that I have coming up. Before iOS 13 the this app was working great... I hope it can get fixed soon.
