Worked great for years, but not now.

It appears the locked Automatic Iphone feature is still a problem. I cannot get it out of that mode. I have tried everything, I can no longer use my basic, restaurant, music or car choice, it is stuck on an automatic iphone program that is horrible. It has really messed up my ability to use my hearing aids efficiently. I can temporarily get it out by taking each hearing aid and opening the battery door three times on each hearing aid to kill the connection, then you can reset the batteries one more time and it will go back to the old programs. But it doesn’t last long, eventually it locks you out and again your are stuck with just one program, (Automatic Iphone). I will soon call Costco and complain their app doesn’t work.

Latest update

The latest update by Apple has completely screwed up my ability to use the KSC app. The problem lies within the settings menu where it does not allow the setting of the same program, but will will automatically set up two different settings such as softswitch and music at the same time.

Useless

KirklandSignatureChoice worked pretty good until iOS 11.1 update. totally messed things up. It was supposedly fixed in 11.1.4 but nope!!! Like other reviews I’ve read here I’ve deleted the Kirkland app, forgot the hearing aids in accessibility, repaired and tried KirklandSignatureChoice again. When using the car Bluetooth, streaming would bounce between the phone, the car and the hearing aids or go nowhere at all. I went back to Costco and they were not helpful. I was planning on upgrading my phone to iphone8 plus, which I just did and upgraded to iOS 12, the problems persisted. After digging deeper and reading other similar issues, one suggested to just delete the Kirkland app and only use the iPhone’s built-in MFI controls. Though there are occasionally issues, for the most part this has resolved my problem. I can stream and now when calls come while I’m driving go through the car audio seamlessly. Much better.

It appears that the Kirkland choice app conflicts with the iPhone’s built-in controls. They work much much better without KirklandSignatureChoice . For those still struggling, give it a try.

Needs updates!!

With all the changes happening with iOS you’ve had 2 updates in about 3 years! My aids are chirping like crazy now and they keep trying to pair every few minutes, even though they are paired! I’ve deleted and reinstalled, rebooted, played with accessibility settings. Nothing seems to work long term. At best, a few days and it starts all over again. It almost renders the aids unusable. Appears to be related to streaming music, which I do a lot.
The most successful results I've achieved are when I delete the Choice app; forget the aids under accessibility settings, reboot the phone and then re-pair the aids under accessibility and download and reinstall the Choice app.
This is a major nuisance to have to do several times a week! And yes, an Apple Watch app would be very much appreciated. I love the concept behind KirklandSignatureChoice , and when it’s working it’s great, but the execution is lacking BIG TIME. Worked much better under iOS 10.

Poor docs, poor usability

My husband has new hearing aids and we are trying to figure out how how to use KirklandSignatureChoice to create a new favorite setting with new volume and bass/treble settings. Cannot figure out how to get a new favorite added to the home screen. It takes a lot of navigation to get to the favorites screen. The PDFs file of documentation that we downloaded has pages that are too wide for 8.5x11 page in landscape mode so the edges do not print. Besides that, the print is tiny. We cannot read the file online. You would think KirklandSignatureChoice developers would realize that people whose hearing is failing due to old age might also have eyesight that is also failing due to old age. Took a long to get out of demo mode. Docs are inadequate for that so we just had to poke around till we found it. KirklandSignatureChoice itself seems to have pretty good function. It takes a long time to figure it out by trial and error.

Good app but needs updating

I like being able to control hearing aids via my iPhone. The feature to remember settings based on location are good. I also really like hearing phone calls in both ears.

However a major update is needed! I have an Apple Watch... Yet I can't hear calls through the Watch and would like to be able to answer the phone on my Watch and still have sound connect via hearing aids. Need to let Watch be a remote for the phone so I don't have to get phone out (or find it in my desk) to be able to use hearing aids to hear the call.

Basically want to be able to answer phone using Watch and still hear call on hearing aids

using since June

KirklandSignatureChoice may be quirky but works great once you get through the three control parameters (triple tap, accessibility, and KirklandSignatureChoice itself). I wanted: no default air-play to the hearing aids: no automatic connection to the hearing aids from my home phone or car phone. The solution was: settings, general, accessibility, hearing aids, “my hearing aids”, streaming :off. With that everything works as expected - favorites, geotagging , treble and bass settings and streaming (by reversing the above settings) if I want it, i.e.for music. The battery warning operates just about the same time the earpiece gives the 4 tone signal. Streaming music is improved by adjusting bass and treble significantly.

REDO PLEASE!

Please redo KirklandSignatureChoice. It works so poorly that I’ve tuned off the Bluetooth function between my hearing aids and my iPhone by unpairing it—which is the whole purpose of KirklandSignatureChoice . The bluetooth function does not work correctly. It streams sound through my hearing aids when I don’t want it to. Under the advice of the Costco hearing specialist I changed the setting under Settings/General/Accessibility/Hearing Aids/Audio Routing and have turned both “Call Audio” and “Media Audio” to “Never Hearing Aids” but it didn’t take care of all the problems. When I have it connected it conflicts with some apps I use on my phone. It plays sound through my hearing aids when it shouldn’t. I’ve noticed navigation being a problem. When I’m using my phone and try to go to the speaker it doesn’t always work. Multiple, multiple issues!!

Needs Work!

I just noticed that ReSound updated their app in the last few days. The KS6 app was written by ReSound so I hope they will update KirklandSignatureChoice soon.

1. The battery indicator is useless. It doesn't do a thing until your batteries are almost dead at which time your hearing aids chime, so a red exclamation point on the battery indicator at this point is not helpful. What is really needed is an indication of the actual remaining battery life.

2. Streaming and taking calls thru the aids when paired with an iPhone is so annoying that I turned this feature off (you can still take calls or stream thru your aids by making a manual decision). Go to Settings--Accessibility.

3. Certain iPhone apps still stream sound to the aids in spite of #2 above which is annoying.

4. As others have noted, the aids and the iPhone seem to forget any adjustments you may have made to volume and bass/treble when you switch programs. This is annoying.

5. On the plus side it is so amazing that I can select programs and fine tune volume, bass, and treble for a specific situation. I love this feature.

Hopefully CostCo and ReSound are reading all these reviews and will publish some improvements soon!!!

Great app for version 1

I'm 49 and found I need hearing aids...have issue that runs in my family (along with a lot of rock music over the years). Bought the Kirkland signature 6.0 HAs since they are rebranded ReSound Linx 9s and less than a third of the price. KirklandSignatureChoice is great..am able to control the volume of either hearing aid, adjust programs, set favorites based off of location and they auto change to the settings of that favorite when you are close to the location. The only major thing lacking is apple watch support, which the ReSound app just added. Hope they update soon. After that, it will be a 5 star app

What a piece of JUNK.

Ever since I got this, it regularly FAILS to even connect via Bluetooth. And when it does, after sone time, it DISCONNECTS. Does this represent the new standard and level of Costco quality—similar to their failure to connect the dishwasher we also foolishly bought from them. Should I also worry about food safety?

Thanks to another irate user, I have now DELETED this piece of junk and simply use the built in iPhone accessibility controls under General This works for calls and even the TV streaming device though without some volume and bass/treble controls (which were never very useful) but far far better than KirklandSignatureChoice which was driving me crazy. Whoever was responsible for this needs to find a different career after they presumably will be appropriately terminated.

Great App - I'm a new user

Received my hearing aids yesterday & have been through the User manuals which I think are very well written. Everything works as I expected. So far my new hearing aids are great! My wife has even given them a thumbs up as she spoke to me from a distance in low voice & I heard her very well. She said that with my old aids or without them I would not have heard her or responded with the classic "What?". The ability to control the programs from KirklandSignatureChoice is very helpful too. As far as I'm concerned, these aids & the iPhone app are just outstanding!!

New app requires restart

New app which downloads to iPhone automatically was garbage. I called the Resound support number, which is on the web site which is linked to the support page in KirklandSignatureChoice , and actually got a person who walked me through a number of steps which involved disconnecting the Bluetooth connection between the phone and the aids, rebooting the phone, and re-pairing the aids. It worked! There are new features in the new app which I will never use, and I would prefer the simplicity of the old app, but when I asked if I could somehow get the old version back, she said always forward, never back!

Works fine if you are tech savvy

The finder function is amazing if you have working batteries in your aid and are paired with your iPhone. I was in a remote area of South Dakota in high wind one day and had realized after walking a mile in knee high grass that my left aid was missing from my ear. The "finder" function really works. It showed me on the map where my aid was laying, and when I got close to it (within 40 yrds.), I switched to "nearby" mode and the red bar guided me to exactly where it was. The key for getting this to work is in addition to aid batteries and being paired, make sure the Choice app is connected and communicating with your aid(s).

A BIG pain at times

Bought the whole nine yards from Costco with great hopes. After several weeks of problems with live stream we are told that there is a problem with Apples software which isn't likely to be fixed until the next system upgrade in several months.
The quality of the sound from the iPhone's music and other Bluetooth features is very poor to say the least. Resound shouldn't release a product until it is well tested. A replaceable battery, with plug, is non-replaceable for the min-mic. You need to buy a whole new unit if the battery quits holding a charge. These aids may go back before the 90 days are up. I don't blame Costco for the problems, just Resound.

Is ok, but not fabulous

Have been using for over a year. No specific complaints but no specific compliments either. I would like to be able to get "under the hood" and play around with the psychoacoustic features. At the least, I would like more than 4 setup choices. Four different settings seems like an arbitrary choice. My phone can handle more than 4 and I'm pretty sure my hearing aids can handle more than 4.

Could be better

My mother is learning to use KirklandSignatureChoice as another tool to adjust her hearing aids. She is both hearing impaired and visually impaired (macular degeneration). KirklandSignatureChoice is light gray on dark gray. She struggles to see that and so one of her children has to help. She finds that infuriating!! She is mentally fully functional and works hard to use technology to support her sensory deficits. Please 1) find someone to educate your developers about vision loss 2) allow users to set contrasts to their needs (hers change). This is really a great app but it could be better with a bit more thought.

Works well for me on iPhone 5s

I have been using KirklandSignatureChoice without problems on an iPhone 5s with Signature 6 hearing aids.

Great to have this control. One bug: the battery 'button' is not a button, it is apparently an icon showing battery level, but it doesn't work. Wish it had mid-level tone control slider also. Only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars.

I've used Oticon and Rexton, and this ReSound unit via Costco is my favorite, particularly the ability to tie in to my iPhone for control, music and audio books.

New Kirkland hearing aid app

Other than KirklandSignatureChoice design looks different, connectivity issues still exist. With new batteries in the hearing aid, in the same location in the house, I can check KirklandSignatureChoice one time and it will show connected and a little while latter show not connected. This issue is worse than the previous version. Still having problems with delays in receiving calls over Bluetooth connection. This has been an ongoing problem since the last app update. Thought that I had it solved by turning Bluetooth off other devises but with this new app the problem has come back.

Slow response time

Every time I access KirklandSignatureChoice to adjust my hearing aids it takes about 30 seconds for KirklandSignatureChoice to connect. By that time, the problem I was trying to resolve has gotten worse. For instance if I need to turn the volume down because someone has just turned on a noisy machine KirklandSignatureChoice has to recognize the hearing aids first before it lets me access the volume control. This problem has further damaged my hearing. Then there is KirklandSignatureChoice overriding my iphone so calls come through my hearing aids so I can’t hear the caller over the ambient noise in my environment. A horrible app. The developer should have to wear these hearing aids and try to use their app.

Needs work and better explanations but I like it.

I have had my Kirkland hearing aids for a week. It takes time getting to know them. I am pleased that the hearing aids have an app that allows many functions. I would like the single volume control to maintain the settings I use with the dual L/R control. The single control is useless because it throws both left and right back into the same levels. My ears don't work that way. I have less hearing in my left ear than right. Anyway, this is a start and I hope Resound will upgrade. I like the ability to retain settings for my most obvious environments. I understand that is only available on certain iPhones. It is better than having no control, but KirklandSignatureChoice needs to be developed by someone who uses hearing aids. Not someone who thinks they understand. Thank you resound for this much.

iOS 13

Since update to ios13 my husband program doesn’t work properly. Keeps saying hearing aids not connected to Bluetooth. Only way to get it to work is to go to settings and open up through accessibility. Seems like you need update or you need to work with Apple to figure out what is going wrong. Often have to completely shut down iPhone and reboot. Using iPhone 7.
