Faster than sub finder but will not stick with it

Jobulator is faster than others (probably because it's an official Aesop app) but it lacks much detail. When the job notification banner comes up I hate how I don't know anything about the job. I have to tap on "open" and even then I have to tap again on the main screen because there isn't enough info about the job. It really bothers me that I don't know what hours the opening is for as well as school, teacher, date or time. Sub assistant offers this (I just wish it was faster). It's kind of counterintuitive to what Jobulator is for, to save time. I still have to go through all the options in order to get enough info on the job. I can't just find find out by banner if I want to even bother with the assignment. If they fixed this I would choose this over the other apps, but it seems that I will be cancelling the trial soon...

Awful

Would give it a 0 star if it was an option. I went 2 years finding sub jobs on Aesop and found jobs everyday. Another sub told me to try this app, so I did. Thinking that this app was goinf to send me alerts when a job was available, I stopped checking the Aesop site here and there for jobs. I noticed I was not getting any job notifications, which was odd because I know sub jobs are often available. However, when I get notifications the job is no longer available. I was under the assumption that every time a teacher requested a sub request then this app would let me know, WRONG! I decided to test it next to the Aesop site. Well long and behold, I saw jobs on Aesop sitting around waiting to be picked up and yet this app is not sending me an alert. I also noticed that when I did get a this app alert, it was after I watched the job sit for an average of 25 minutes. Now that explained why 99.9% of the time the job was already taken when this app sent the alert.

So save your money and don’t bother. I find that refreshing Aesop here and there gets me jobs. this app sends you alerts after a job has already been taken or when it has been sitting there forever. Which means you can just check Aesop here and there and still get more jobs than paying this app for nothing.

So many problems for substitutes

“It is not designed to be a competitive edge” is right in the description. It “may not” have been designed for that, but please know that it can be one.
It can also be a nightmare when trying to accept jobs. I have gotten a message that a job is no longer available and have been able to accept the job because I refused to concede that it was no longer available and kept clicking. A common numbers of tries is around seven, but I wanted to find out just how many times I would have to click one Saturday morning when I knew I was the only math substitute who should be seeing the job. Exactly 600 clicks later, it allowed me to accept the job. Convenient? Not really.
Now it has stopped syncing with my Apple Watch. That was a nice feature because, when it worked, I would get a silent notification. If I have my iPhone on silent mode now, the notification is just like all of the other notifications I get; so it is easy to miss them. I now keep my phone in normal mode, which means it might ring while I am in school.
Jobulator has helped me get jobs I probably wouldn’t have gotten, so I will put up with the major inconveniences.

Update Needed!

I have to say that I love Jobulator. Before getting Jobulator, There were never any jobs available because they were take. Before I ever saw they were available. Now I see them and have many assignments.

It could be improved by improving how you add it to your calendar.
1) I see that right after you accept a job, you are given the opportunity to add it to your own calendar. In fact, this is the only time you are allowed to add it and if you somehow forget to add it, then you lost your chance. You should be able to add it to your calendar at anytime, not just at this particular moment.
2) Even when I try to add t to my calendar it doesn't work. When I click to add it to my calendar, it tells me to pick what calendar I want to use, but the list is blank. My iPhone 6 has the most recent update and I have the setting on this app set so that it can access my calendar.

Great app

this app is the only sub service out there for $40/year. I tried it on a free trial and if I got even one job I would otherwise have missed, the service was paid for. I have used it for 2 years with great success.

Jobulator is occasionally buggy- it will ring only to immediately report the job is taken. I agree with other complaints that the only way to see specifics of the day's job is to access the Aesop calendar. Jobulator does have a button for the Aesop calendar, but that's an extra few steps while I'm standing at a punch clock with a line behind me. It would be perfect to see my calendar right from Jobulator so I know who I'm subbing for that day.

My big beef is that I received an email from this app last week saying they stopped servicing my school district as of today. Wow, thanks for the long notice to allow me to change services! Highly unprofessional.

Just ok

I feel like I get enough jobs from Jobulator that it covers the cost of, but it really has problems. Often, as soon as you hear that alert and get to Jobulator , the job is gone. Recently I started having a problem that when I add a job I’ve just accepted from Jobulator to my calendar it puts the start and end time an hour earlier than they actually are. There is no help on Jobulator itself, and I’ve been trying to access the help page for days but it never loads, trying to see why I made guy be having this problem all of a sudden. Not being able to see your jobs, only that blue box that tells you something is scheduled, is pretty silly. I’m just glad almost all my jobs come from teachers directly asking me. Not sure if I’m going to renew....

Time is money

I’ve seen many negative reviews, but I have been very pleased with Jobulator . Perhaps updates have helped since the negative reviews are mostly 1-2 years old. I haven’t had the technical issues others have mentioned.
Anyway, rather than being stuck to my computer, I get notifications anytime. It is true that jobs disappear fast, but that’s true with or without Jobulator . Jobulator just lets me know I missed it rather than being blissfully unaware. If it gives me even one day with a job or a better job, it has paid for itself. Time is money!
Lastly, I love the import to calendar feature. Not only does it include the the date and time, it also gives the teacher’s name and school address which I can easily tap to get directions.

Could be better

Jobulator was useful enough when I was needing to accept work daily. It was
Nice being able to accept work from an app instead of calling my school district. The times weren't always accurate on the listing and a couple times the titles weren't right either but I don't think that was the apps fault. I did get notifications a lot about jobs and I'd open Jobulator right away and there would be nothing so that was frustrating. I think the most frustrating thing was though was when I no longer needed Jobulator I was looking for how to cancel my subscription. I noticed the button said "log out and deactivate your account". Now I took this as deactivating your subscription but apparently not because the next month it took payment still. Turns out you have to go online and cancel from there. If you can do everything else from Jobulator you should be able to cancel from there too.

The worst customer service and business ethics

I quit subbing in February. I realized in July that an automatic payment for this app app was taken off of my paypal account every month. After lots of trouble I was able to contact them. I found out that this app doesn't even have a phone customer support. So on the day of transaction I emailed this app customer service asking to help me log into my account and also to issue me a refund for that month explaining my situation. It took them three days to respond to me explaining to me how to log into my account but they completely ignored my question on the refund. I emailed request for refund again. This time they emailed me to tell me that according to their policy they don't issue refund. What respectable company concerned about its reputation would do something like that? I will sub again but I'm definitely not using Jobulator again. Goodbye this app!!! Hope my $6.99 a month made you rich because soon another app will get my money ... not you.

This app is a scam!!

Jobulator is a total scam! I paid for the year because I thought I would save money in the long run. I have used Jobulator for less than a month and have accepted a full-time job. Obviously I no longer need Jobulator. I asked for a refund and to only pay for the month that I have used and they simply said no. I know it is my responsibility for paying for the year in the first place, however you would think they would allow for someone to except a full-time job! Jobulator does not even have all of the same functions as the website. For a paying app I would expect much more, you cannot even see details on the calendar for the job do you have selected! I am extremely dissatisfied and feel taken advantage of. They are able to get away with this because they have a monopoly on the market and it is highly unfortunate. They clearly do not care about their customers and only care about the money.

Prepare to be ripped off

It’s a fairly efficient app and easy to use. However, unlike almost every other subscription service that became unnecessary due to COVID-19, the folks at this app didn’t automatically suspend billing when every school in the country was closed. And apparently they have a “strict no refund policy,” which means you’re out the money. You’re paying for a service that they then do not actually provide. So watch out because they WILL gouge you if they can. And when I contacted support, I wasn’t sure what they meant by their answer and when I asked for clarification they stopped answering. I’ll give them one more day and then I’m going to have to challenge the charges through my bank. So bottom line, Jobulator works okay, but the terrible customer service/treatment makes me unable to recommend Jobulator.

Works pretty well

This is the only method available to me to get job notifications, unless I’m willing to sit at my computer with AESOP up and running. I set it up for audible notifications, so I can be alerted to jobs immediately but often keep my phone on silent when in meetings, classrooms, etc. However, when my device is set to silent, when I open Jobulator to respond to the visual notification on my screen, if there is a job available there is a noisy chime. If my device is set to silent, you can guess I’m in a place or situation where I don’t want my phone making a racket! Please change the programming so Jobulator does not make an audible alert when opened if the phone is set to silent.

Awesome app!

I have tried two other apps for the Aesop sub program, and while they were okay, this is way better! I like how you can get more info by clicking on the job; and I like how it will put the job in your calendar after accepting it.

The only thing I would like to see changed (improved) is the calendar view in Jobulator itself. It shows what days you are scheduled to work, but it does not say where you are scheduled to work on those days. It would be awesome when you clicked on the day if it would give information about the job that day.

Otherwise an awesome sub program! Definitely worth $4+ a month!!

Not worth $4/month

Jobulator needs so many improvements it's not worth the $4 monthly fee. Aesthetically it is really lacking, it should look much more professional that it does. The main thing I hate about it is that there is no place to look at current jobs. I accepted a job, showed up at the school, and didn't know who I was subbing for! I thought I'd be able to pull it up on Jobulator . Huge huge flaw. Also, you should be able to cancel jobs from Jobulator instead of having to go to the computer to do it. Having an app is supposed to eliminate needing to use the computer. I think it's really just easier to look on the computer and/or wait for the phone call. I get plenty of jobs that way so I'm canceling my app. Not worth it. It doesn't make it easier, it's made it more complicated.

Predatory "Customer Service".

I was happy until they offered monthly subscriptions and I switched because of tight budget. I NEVER selected the option of "recurring" payments. Each month, when my subscription EXPIRED, I made MANUAL payments to reactivate for the next month. Then they started charging me automatically!!! This gave me a false sense of the balance in my checking account and caused me to incur overdraft fees. I realized they were doing this in August, 2016. Then I noticed they charged me for June and July as well!!! Why would I reactivate the subscription when I don't work in June, July or August???? When asked for a refund/credit they said that I "cancelled and resubscribed" each month. WHAT????? Now they've changed their policy but that was NOT so in June 2016!! They are dishonest and deliberately do not have a phone contact to avoid issues like this being addressed. DISHONEST this app!

Waste of Time & Money

If I could give Jobulator zero stars I would. I took a chance on Jobulator after reading bad reviews because my SubTeach rep said lots of people in my area used Jobulator . Not only did I never get an actual job from Jobulator - I never even got notified that jobs were available. To get the free trial you had to set up payment info - but since Jobulator didn't work at all I canceled my account t days and days ago (or so I thought). They don't provide a clear way to cancel your account but they do provide a "logout & deactivate" option. I did that. They drafted their fee from me anyway and when I contested it they said that deactivating wasn't the same as canceling and per their terms they would not refund my money but as a "curtesy" they would cancel my account. Not worth time or money. Is basically a scam.

Useful but Basic

Jobulator is functional for notifications and job listings, but for a paid app, it really needs more options. It lacks any filters for job types: full day, part day, am/pm, para educator, special ed, elementary, middle school, high school, location... Even if these were at an additional charge, it would be worth it to prioritize the posts and set notifications for specific job types.
Also, I struggle to find which post is "new" when there are a dozen old ones there that I don't want. A banner or something on the new posts would be nice.
Since I'm new to Jobulator , I'm hoping it's a work in progress and there are more functions to come.

Sub.

I've use Jobulator for about two years now and I've had some success with it. There have been a few glitches along the way that I would like to point out.
1. Way too many times I get a phone call from AESOP before I get notification from this app. Hmm, isn't this app supposed to notify you before AESOP does? Isn't that why we are paying a fee for this app?
2. Needs more filters: full vs. part time job, high school vs. elementary, etc.
3. Be consistent. My sister substitutes at the same schools I do and very often she gets a job you don't notification where as I do not. I will log of Aesop and the job is waiting.
4. See the name of the teacher I'm subbing for in the this app calendar not the Aesop calendar. Internet is slow in my neck of the woods and for me to stand for the secretary's desk and try to get into the Aesop calendar to prove that Aesop assigned me a full day versus the teacher saying was a half-day took way too long of the secretaries time. It was a difference of wages for me which was important to get it cleared up.

I'm paying you a fee for this service; I should be getting top-notch service.

Easier than having to constantly login

It's great to have an alternative notification than being logged into the substitute program 24/7 waiting for postings to pop up.

However, an option beyond accept and reject would be great. Reject makes you never see that type of job again, ever again. But what about a clear button so I don't see that job anymore today.

A filter or organizer would be great. An option to see job sorted either by grade level, or type of course or even by school or district. My incoming offers get quite full sometimes and a filter would be nice and easy.

Not worth the money

I downloaded Jobulator hearing great things about it and had no success, never received any notifies of available jobs. I was contacted directly from the school about filling in for the day and was told there had been jobs posted I should've worked.
I canceled my account within the 14 day trial period but was still charged. Because Jobulator did not work and did not notify me I lost my consecutive work days which drastically changed my pay rate.
I contacted customer service, they only have email available, to refund me the $5.99 since I canceled within that trial period. The customer service rep says per the terms no refunds even though per the terms I canceled in the allowed time frame.
Not worth the money you're better off logging to Aesop directly or contacting the school.

I have been a sub Teacher for over 18 years, and the Jobulator was ok for a while, but in the past year or so, every month there is a different problem, I have an automatic payment and that does not help. They just raised the price to $ 6.35 per month. I am very disappointed with their service. They do respond right away, but problems keep on coming. I will cancel the subscription.

I STILL Don't Get The job Notification alert!!! You told the superintendents secretary it worked and it doesn't!!! Keep losing jobs. You have people contact me saying it's ok and type in the above line with questions and that doesn't work!! Terrible

Susan R   1 year ago

App worked fine till the past year. Now, it often won’t let me scroll down the entire list; instead, I can only see girt 3 or 3 posts. It returns after they say they fixed it. Also, there’s sometimes a time gap in showing approved assignments between this app & the schools or the AESOP app. Last, sometimes when I select add to AESOP calendar, the pop up will not go away unless I reboot phone.

mary sullivan   2 years ago

The recent upgrades now prevent me from getting into the Aesop calendar and there is no way to change my password ! The only way to access it is on a school district cloud. Not convenient and I am now thinking of canceling my subscriptions. Too bad, I have used it for 5 years now. Will be checking out the Subalert app.
