Ever - Photo Backup & Storage Reviews

I was a user of Shoebox which recently shut down. I found this app and really wanted to love it as much as I did Shoebox. However I have found two major issues with it. 1 - there’s no video backup in the free version (I never paid for Shoebox and was able to store a certain amount of video free on that app) and 2 - it crashes CONSTANTLY on my iPhone XS, like every single time I open Ever and try to do something, even just viewing stored photos. I haven’t found this issue with the iPad version but it’s extremely frustrating that it does it each and every time I open it on my phone. I have also had to reopen Ever after it crashes in order to delete photos that I had already removed and seen confirmation that they had indeed been removed. So Ever is good for storing photos but so far the actual app hasn’t been that great.

UPDATE: I received an email from customer service after I wrote the above review. However when I tried to respond to it, it was kicked back to me with a message that the response was undeliverable to the address. Not sure what’s going on with Ever/developer but I’m still experiencing crashing every time I open it. Not much point to a photo backup app that doesn’t let you access your stored photos. Researching other apps and going to switch once I find one I think I’ll like.

I have been using Ever since 2017 and it continues to make me believe it's not worth the money you'll pay $9.99/month or $99/year... either way you are paying around $100 yearly 🤦‍♀️

The throwback reminders is a neat concept but the flipbooks they make are so annoying. Ever continues to crash if I go too far back into my timeline or when I try to resave/download a photo back to my camera roll. A lot of my saved videos don't even play anymore. The worst part is I can't even back up all of my saved photos or videos on Ever the “Export all photos and videos” option in my settings never works! I honestly feel like snap chat is a better alternative the only downside is everything you wanna save has to be taken on the snap chat camera... but at least it doesn’t crash and the videos play. I have 3 years worth of photos and videos stuck in Ever and I cant get them back or transfer them anywhere els 💔

In the end it does save your photos/videos and deletes them off your phone to make space but for $119 a year I want Ever to NOT CRASH and let me backup and download all of my photos and videos all at once without having to go one by one..

I have an iPhone so my iCloud never has room for more pictures and I’m not about to pay for more storage just so it fills up again and have to buy more storage. Finding Ever was such a amazing relief I honestly wish I would’ve found this sooner because all the baby pictures I had of my son got lost in a flash drive when we moved! It wasn’t until I stumbled upon Ever and tried it out and loved it! 4 1/2 years later and I have no complaints. There are times that there are little issues like slow loading but it’s minor tweaks that don’t really worry me. As long as my pictures are saved I’m happy!

There is a lot of potential with Ever, but the functionality of it currently is weak.

The tagging function is quite limited, but a good idea. It will select some faces to tag, but the vast majority of faces are not tagged. There is no option to ask to tag a face in a photo. Other programs can do this much better. This sounds like it is a new feature when I downloaded Ever , so hopefully it will be improved.

It is surprising there is not an easy option to download a photo to one’s phone.

When creating albums, I’m surprised you can search photos to add in different ways. If you have many photos, it can take a long time compared to other apps to upload.

I really hope they are working to add features to Ever to make it more user friendly and have better functionality. It has great potential. I really appreciate the Flickr and other app connections. I like the memories. My family and I enjoy this. But it is not with the subscription price without better functionality. These should be easy to add. There are so many other apps that cost less with many of these features. They need to improve features or Ever is just not going to be able to compete.

Ever has created more phone storage it will upload all my photos and videos and then ask me if I want to delete it from my phone to create more storage that is awesome!! I have been using Ever for over a year and it has so many awesome features like; Tagging friends and family so you can have an album of them, Creates specific albums that you can edit and have delivered, it always reminds you of older photos that where taken around the same year and I love that because I get to relive my baby’s first years and everything in between. So why did I give it 4 stars because I wish it would automatically ask you to erase doubled photos other than that I recommend Ever to all moms and everyone who loves to capture lots of beautiful moments.

I admit that Ever needs more work. And for me to remain premium I assume hopefully that the developers are reading these reviews. However I do not expect the developers to work for free and right now this has been the best option outside of storing everything on my computer or on iCloud etc. etc. I go one step further and store things on separate drive for pictures alone. That being said Ever works just fine for having pictures that you can show yet not have your electronica devices such as phones and notepads and lions and tigers and bears. LOL have a look. Some will like it and others will not. But isn’t that the case with just about any app we consumers use? I would recommend this to friends.

i honestly love Ever, and LITERALLY use it REPEATEDLY throughout each & every day. i haven't had any real problems thus far [it does pause downloading a lot, which is only frustrating because it's more time consuming, and i have to restart Ever repeatedly sometimes, but i have gotten used to that. and that doesn't ALWAYS happen, and i could be having worse issues] i have tons of photos [and that's a very conservative statement] i and this frees up so much space on my phone!! it REALLY came in handy when i had an older iPhone with barely any storage space left; it was a "life saver!" thanks! keep it up!!

I really love Ever especially as a previous Shoebox user. I take a lot of photos and videos on my phone for work and need a convenient way to back them up. So far, everything backup-wise works great. I love the trading feature, but unfortunately as of now, there is no way to edit names of who's tagged. When I was first prompted, I was able to type 2 letters, them a notification came up and when I got back into Ever , it had saved as just those 2 letters. I attempted to edit, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do so. Other than that I love Ever so far, and will update to 5 stars once this feature is fixed.

This has been my lifesaver App, from lost phone, to broken phone to transferring phones, I didn’t have to worry about those memories and moment being lost forever in the abyss of lost/broken phones because it saves all my photos and keeps my storage down too. It’s free unless u WANT the premium then y can get it but honestly, I have had Ever for at least 6 years and it keeps your photos in the correct month and order that they belong. It totally different than any other photo app and it’s more organized and has more features than the other apps. You will love it!!!!❤️🥰

Our family has been using this this app app for over a year now. We enjoy it's ease of use, #throwback photo feature as well as other photo options including photo memory books available to purchase to cherish family events and you can customize them and give personalized gift books to friends and relatives if you wish which we feel is a great one of a kind gift idea! I read a couple negative comments on here about this app; however, I feel if some time is invested navigating this site - there is so much to learn and enjoy!😊✔️

First, even though I gave this two stars it would easily get a 5 IF:
1. Automatic Folders for Years and Months. Seems like the most common sense thing for finding photos. Scrolling throw ALL photos with a side scroller that tells you the month is lazy and cumbersome. Nearly ALL apps organize by year and month. You tap the month of a year and bam there are all the photos for that month of that year. So easy! But not available in this for nearly $12 a month unreal!!!
2. Very unstable backup and takes forever even with speeds of 250mbps and upload of 20. Wow slow!
3. Doesn’t back up in background mode no matter the settings! Whether Data or WiFi the backup has some serious issues. If you want to wait 15 minutes for a 1 minute video and 4 photos to backup then yeah it’s fine.
4. Need the ability to shut off all the feeds and print this book feature on each page. I OAY for Ever and a lot each month. Let me control it not you.
5. Desktop for Mac is terrible absolutely terrible. Phone app is 2 stars until the items above are all fixed!
Good app but has major design flaws. Sadly it’s still the best I have found.

I love everything about Ever.. the only thing that I keep in the back of my mind is that within the first cpl months of having, several (very random) people in my contacts list told me they received a text from me, but from a diff phone #, asking them to click a link to view one of my photo albums.. clearly spam. I received one from someone else once too before I knew what this app was. But as far as I know it hasn’t happened since.. this was several yrs ago, but it would ease my mind a LOT if someone from this app could tell me they know about that situation, why it happened & then resolved it so that it cannot happen again.

Ever has rescued me from having to buy more storage and ultimately getting very frustrated with my phone. I know that when my kids do something cute I can take lots of pictures and not feel limited by not having enough storage on my phone. Ever also allows me to access photos or videos from long ago if need be at any time which is super helpful. Finally, the this app app catalogues and organizes your photos so that you can see them in a flip book format. It’s awesome because these are like gifs. Okay, I think thats all. Thanks for reading!

Over the years of having my iPhone, there’s been a handful of times I’ve lost a ton of pics and videos from my iCloud failing to back up. I started using this app over 2 years ago and have never had that problem again. I love that it backs them up right away and then there’s an option to free up the space on my phone which is the best! The only reason I don’t give it 5 starts is because 1. It’ll sometimes skip over saving some pics and videos and I have to save them to Ever myself 2. Ever will occasionally crash in the middle of me going through old pictures.. other than that, I LOVE Ever!

My iPhone got disabled and I was basically told by two very rude Apple employees that there was nothing I could do to get any of my photos,messages,(etc) back. So thinking all hope was lost I restored my phone...but than I remembered I had this app Album! and it automatically saved every picture you take without having to pay monthly for storage, I was ecstatic when I found out that all my pictures were saved and I had hardly lost a thing! it’s amazing and saved my years of memories, I would recommend Ever to everyone☺️
