Great for walking, not so much for healthy eating

I like WalkingSlimkit. It seems to have a good grasp on the different skill levels. I’ve had trouble keeping up with even the beginner levels on some other apps, but not this one. I would like to be able to select a max walk time for the end of the plan. When I get towards the 30-40 minute days it will be difficult to find that much time every day- that’s my problem ;).

My one big complaint relates to the meal plans. There are very few vegetables! Not even a suggestion to serve with a salad or steamed broccoli. I made cashew chicken (I think that was the name) and added a package of frozen vegetables. Otherwise it would just have onions.

Deleted before proceeding to step 4 of 4

After downloading WalkingSlimkit and going into it the first time, I got to step 4 of 4 and it wanted me to pay or pay. I found that VERY STRANGE. So, I went back to WalkingSlimkit Store and checked the reviews. I was horrified after reading the reviews. Even more horrifying, reading the developer’s comments on the reviews. There is no way to use WalkingSlimkit completely free as the developer claims. I am pretty certain this developer violated a few federal laws and plan to investigate this further. As of right now, I do not see any subscriptions on my Apple ID, but plan to check again in a week. If one magically appears then, we add a whole new load of potential federal charges. I would suggest other users avoid downloading WalkingSlimkit unless you intend to sign up for and pay the annual fee upon downloading/opening WalkingSlimkit . I hope those that were affected by the subscription issues with WalkingSlimkit seek legal council. It may make for a lovely class action suit. To the developer, I would highly recommend you seek legal council related to the functionality and manner in which your app creates its charges. Deceitfully charging individuals without clear disclosure of the intent to charge them, for example, when they download a “free” app, could be a huge issue for you. You can definitely find a better way to charge people for WalkingSlimkit without being dishonest and deceitful.

Finally shed my post menopausal weight with the help of this app

WalkingSlimkit along with NutraCheck for calorie counting was the key to finally being able to shed the 15 pounds I gained after menopause and turning 50. Nothing else I tried, for two years worked to speed up my metabolism or shed any weight. I tried diet‘s, different exercise apps, and even hormone therapy and I was starting to give up hope. I started this walking app in April at 152 pounds and diligently got up every morning and followed the instructions. I was slowly losing weight but when I added a calorie counting app in June, to really decrease my caloric intake each day and keep track of the nutrients, as well as the components that affect me the most (sodium and carbs), I finally started to see a real weight loss progression. By the beginning of August I was down to my goal weight of 135 pounds. I ate three meals a day and wanted to snacks, but all healthy unprocessed foods that I made myself and smaller portions. It worked! I am back into my size for clothing and I don’t have to worry about saying goodbye to all of my favorite garments.
Apps that work: Walking + NutraCheck = success!

Updated review: still one star

They really should state before downloading that it’s a subscription. Although, at this point, I shouldn’t be surprised, i haven’t been able to find a single free workout or walking app that’s actually free. And even the free trial require me to link a card to my iTunes, but I don’t use iTunes. I was able to figure out how to use the free version though so no big deal. That’s what my one star review was based on previously. Now, after reading some reviews and developer responses, and experiencing it myself first hand, I wish I could make it zero stars. If I click no on a premium membership, that means I don’t want it. I understand ads help you keep it free, but it interrupts almost every setting and page you click on, taking up half the page so you can’t read what’s underneath it, and if you try to click the “x” to close it out it just brings up the sign up page. If your going to do ads, do them periodically, make them small and LET ME CLOSE THEM.
And PS developer, I don’t wanna hear how sorry you are and how my feedback will be utilized, just fix it. Don’t tell me, just do it. Because you’ve been apologizing to your users pretty much since WalkingSlimkit came out and nothing has been done, so I’d suggest actually listening to your reviews this time before someone shuts WalkingSlimkit down

Great app; too many ads.

WalkingSlimkit alone is great. I would totally recommend it. It's simple and easy to use.......ONCE you get past the ads. I don't mind ads. I get that that's how you make the money for providing an app for free. But good lord...you have to wait for an ad to load, close it, wait for another ad to load, the close it. Now you're at WalkingSlimkit - you press start, all is well...but wait, you have to close another ad. Then they have this great list of resources to read to help you out.....but can only see like 3 sentences at a time because of this huge ad that you can't close out of. It really makes you not want to read the stuff (which I haven't)! I understand that you have a premium service. That's great and once I've been able to use WalkingSlimkit , if I really enjoy it, I'll consider the premium service. However, dealing with these in-your-face ads that make using WalkingSlimkit difficult just make me want to delete it. So if you can just deal with the ads...great app! But the ads do kinda make it annoying. There are other walking apps that have just small banner ads at the top or bottom which don't interfere with WalkingSlimkit itself.

Developer You Are NOT listening

I was considering downloading WalkingSlimkit to try it but after reading the reviews and especially the developers responses that is never going to happen.

** Developer your not listening to the consumers. The same people you want to buy your app. You continue giving the same crapping responses no matter what people are telling you about WalkingSlimkit as if you are just copying and pasting the response. Yes we get the ads will go away with the premium service however what you seem to fail to understand for some reason is if the consumer can’t use the free app without frustration they will NEVER buy into the premium service. We as consumers, your market, will buy an app if we find some type of value in it. Please don’t respond with what those are because we can read it in WalkingSlimkit . We have to enjoy the free version enough FIRST before we buy into a paid version. Yes we understand you have ads to keep it free, we as consumers already know that. It’s how they are placed & how often. The fact that you are not really listening to any of the things people are saying and that I’m spelling it out for you suggests that either you have no idea how to run a business or you just don’t care. Either one is bad on your part.

Really torn

I want to give WalkingSlimkit five stars. I would give WalkingSlimkit five stars. HOWEVER, I can’t. A few months ago, I had the premium membership running version of WalkingSlimkit which I had had for a couple of years. Then I found the walking app. I decided to try the walking app. I LOVED it. So after using it twice, I purchased the one year membership. I was able to access the music with no issues but I was only able to use one of the trainer voices. No biggie. Then, all of a sudden, I go for my usual walk as part of my training plan and I can no longer access the music. I keep getting a message to upgrade to premium service. But when I went to my account? It showed I already had premium membership. I wrote WalkingSlimkit people to see what was up. Their response twice now has been to send me to the link to cancel my subscription, get a refund and pay again. By the way, the price is more expensive than what I’ve already paid for a year subscription. If I have already paid for the membership for the year before they’ve decided to make these changes, should my year subscription not be honored until it expires in April of next year? I really don’t want to cancel WalkingSlimkit.

On the fence

I used WalkingSlimkit for two years. Last year I decided to purchased the premium membership. It worked well for a couple of months then it started to crash during workouts. I wrote customer support several times but never got the issue resolved. So I canceled my membership yesterday. Well today I was searching for a new app and noticed that I had the old app and a new version was available. So I downloaded the new version but I was unable to transfer my premium membership, so I sent another request to customer support to resolve the issue🤞🏼I hope I get an answer this time. I would rate WalkingSlimkit higher if I didn’t have these issues.

Update: Ian contacted me within 24hrs! All is good with WalkingSlimkit! I highly recommend it. I’ve been using it for several years now.

Worth the money

I bought WalkingSlimkit a while ago but didn’t start it until June 2021. I started at intermediate it was easy but I’m now on the 12th week and it was tough! Just being consistent and staying on track. I’m now going into the 100 for another 12 weeks. It’s great! I try not to end up on a treadmill because It only tracks calories. WalkingSlimkit is great for anyone!

Update: There is a coach that coach you. If you have apple fitness like me all you need to do is allow WalkingSlimkit to have access to your apple health and it will automatically record your stats each time. Yes there is a fee after the trial - ITS like that - If you created an app would you let others have it for free? Some of these negative comments are ridiculous. Most of which can be resolved with common sense.

Springboard for Spring

I am 61, retired and in the tropics for 6 weeks. I decided to attempt in this time to lose weight and enhance cardiovascular fitness. I saw some people I know on the ads from social media so I thought I would give it a try. I went ahead and paid the premium. I have used it 6 days and find it helpful. I wish I could see the workouts in advance. So far, I have only listened to the Motown music and thought the selection good. I appreciate the tempo automatically increases when I am instructed to “walk briskly”. Being away from home, I don’t have access to a scale so I don’t know how much weight I will lose. I will reevaluate WalkingSlimkit at that time.

Reviews

So I downloaded WalkingSlimkit and then I began to read the reviews. I’m deleting it before I even open it, and not solely because of the customer reviews but more because of the developers response to these reviews. Obviously you need to have ads in order to keep WalkingSlimkit free but it’s clearly overwhelming to EVERYONE according to the feedback they’ve given. What’s the point of downloading WalkingSlimkit if the ads pop up so much that you can’t even use it?? The developers just want to push that premium cost but what they fail to realize is that if people had a better experience with the free version you wouldn’t need to ignore their concerns and redirect them to lining your pockets.

Also for the record there are many apps on WalkingSlimkit Store that also use ads to keep the free version going at no cost but at least it’s a limited amount so you can use WalkingSlimkit peacefully.

67 year old fitness fan and dancer

I love WalkingSlimkit! For $40 a year I get so many music mixes to walk to from a range of genres. I can dance-walk to the music I enjoy and this is so motivating. I look forward to exercising even on days when my fibromyalgia pain is bad and that’s huge!!! I do arm and leg movements as I walk. I’ve lost weight while strengthening my arms and legs. My body shape is changing, amazing at my age. This is the best exercise program I’ve ever done and l’ve done tons of them. Thank you. This is a life changer. Read all the directions and make sure you “lock” the workout you’re doing to hear the instructions when the pace changes.

Ads

While you can use the free version, it makes it really hard when ads take up half the screen constantly. You can’t close the ads. I don’t mind a pop up now and then, but these are constant. I’m going to try the free version for a while and see if I like it, or if the ads drive me nuts. I don’t think I will upgrade, just because the constant ads, and how big they are, have soured me on WalkingSlimkit . But, we’ll see what happens after I try the free version for a few weeks. Also, WalkingSlimkit makes you think you have to sign up for a paying option right from the start, which you don’t. You can close out of that and use the free version w/o paying...but then you have the huge constant ads that you can’t ever close.

By

Ads overkill

The ads are REALLY annoying. I have no problem paying for a premium app, however, I would like to know what I’m getting first. It’s hard to tell whether or not I’ll like it because I can’t get past the ads. I get that you make money off them, but when you get an ad every time you push something in WalkingSlimkit it’s a bit too much.

*** To the developers response: I won’t pay for a premium app that I don’t know whether or not I’m going to like it. The free version is virtually unusable with all the ads. Too much frustration. I’ll stick with Runkeeper & pay them for walking plans. And because you don’t care what potential users are saying, I had to downgrade you to 1 star. Your robotic response to what people are saying is really annoying. Just don’t answer at all. No one wants to pay for an app they can’t try out.

By

Love it

My endurance and speed has increased astronomically! The only issue I’m having is that it will randomly “undownload” my mixes. This can be very frustrating when you are ready to exercise and then have to stop and download your setlist again. Anyone else having this problem? This is the 2nd time of used WalkingSlimkit and this didn’t happen last time. I’m currently using it on my iPhone - will it ever be compatible with iwatch?

Enjoying this Walking App

I downloaded WalkingSlimkit with the 7 day free trial. I walked for 7 days in a row and purchased the paid membership. During my free trial I had a question and emailed the developer and they responded promptly. Sometimes I walk outside and the GPS works well. Sometimes I go the gym and walk on the treadmill. I use my own music, but I’m looking forward to trying theirs soon. WalkingSlimkit provides daily stats for me to see how I’m improving. I’m not sure I’d be as consistent in my everyday walking without WalkingSlimkit. It’s helping me stay motivated! I’ve had no problems at all.

DO NOT BUY !!!!!

The just re- charged my account after I had cancelled my subscription last year!!! This is a bogus app. DO NOT BUY!!! OR TRY THE FREE TRIAL THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY!!!!

WalkingSlimkit is NOT FREE it is 40 bucks. I went ahead and purchased because it had great reviews well IT DID NOT WORK!! I've contacted their support team and requested a refund and THEY WILL NOT REFUND MY MONEY FOR WalkingSlimkit THAT DOES NOT WORK!!!! WalkingSlimkit cut off and did not log my entire walk and the stats are very difficult to interpret. Basically I walked and the data I had was totally wrong as it stops tracking. I made a huge mistake and now I'm out 40 dollars and they don't care. They just say unsubscribe so I'm not charged for another years subscription- they got my money - total rip off !! I've contacted them and iTunes support numerous times before I wrote this review .

Was looking to try this out

For my neighborhood fitness group (15-25 people) But then I read the reviews of the constant assault of pop-ups making it unusable. I understand why they try to upsell but it sounds like you aren’t given the chance to even try what WalkingSlimkit does.

As annoying as those ads may be, I thought the developer responses to user concerns were even more annoying - basically, we are not going to listen or take you review or concerns into consideration because we want you to spend $ to buy premium.

I’m not even a user and these reviews/responses tell me user concerns don’t matter. I’ll save myself and my group the pop-up, upsell drama and save valuable phone space for a company that listens to its users and isn’t out to just make a buck at all costs.

Great app BUT...

I love the concept and streamlined, easy to use design WalkingSlimkit offers. It really is a great app that motivates me to walk more by showing me small wins. BUT, I can’t use it on my Apple Watch and that’s a huge deal. When I go to the gym and use the treadmill, I have to keep my phone in hand and that’s cumbersome for working out. PLEASE, bring an app online that is available on Apple Watch. My husband can sync his account with his Fitbit (he stopped using Apple Watch a long time ago), but I’m faithful to Apple and hope to appeal for an app soon!

More advertising than the real deal

I was going to download WalkingSlimkit before I read all these reviews by the users how the ads are annoying in free version.
I have a couple of suggestions for WalkingSlimkit developers:
1. Make it a time-bound free version(like a month trial free). Many other apps offer that. Make the most popular features enabled with few features keeping for the premium version.
2. I see the ads of WalkingSlimkit at every free app I use. I’ll suggest you to first listen to your current user base and work on improving WalkingSlimkit and spend less money on advertising it.
WalkingSlimkit may have great utility(I have not used it yet. So don’t know much). However, if people get annoyed by the ads, It’s not going to work.
I really wanted to try WalkingSlimkit but now I am not going to. As such I am too lazy to write reviews even for the things/services I have used. However, I was so intrigued by the negative user reviews and my interest in WalkingSlimkit that I decided to write this review even before using WalkingSlimkit .
I will download WalkingSlimkit if I see positive reviews at my next visit to your app. Until then Sayonara!!

How did I cancel?

Wanda Jasper   1 year ago

This is not free!! They are charging me $13.99/month. I want to cancel because at 76, I can't afford it. That is $168 per year. I need to cancel, but can't figure out how!!!!

I used to love this app and was happy to pay the subscription BUT then the option to walk to the curated music (which was wonderful) was deleted. There is no other reason to use this app - don’t waste your money!

Catherine Brands   2 years ago

I love Weightloss Walking. I love that it uses the music to pace your walk/run. I also like the map it creates. I have a question…. I use a Withings watch which syncs to Apple health. Will the Walking app sync to Apple health? I was hoping g to get my watch to talk to the app. I’m pretty sure Withings won’t sync with the Walking app. But I’d like my steps to come from my watch count rather than my phone.
