Rave - Watch Party Reviews

I originally downloaded Rave a couple years ago to watch a kids show with my ex boyfriend, and it worked fine. I used it a lot over quarantine to show my mum videos and watch commentary videos and TV shows like Crashbox with my girlfriend. It worked fine the first while I had it and then it gradually got worse. The premise of Rave is great and the interface is very user friendly, even for a tech hag like myself. The thing is, no matter how strong my internet connection is, videos will take ages to load and sometimes not even load at all. Ill be staring at a black screen with a loading wheel on it only to realise that I wasted 5 minutes of my life waiting for a video to load when it wont. And I’ve tried to remedy this, but Rave has become completely unusable. I’ve tried going to another this app, starting my own, force restarting my entire phone, restarting Rave , uninstalling and reinstalling Rave , disconnecting from my wifi to use my unlimited data… nothing works. I just can’t watch videos. They will load forever and sometimes the video player disappears entirely. I’ve tried hanging up calls to see if that’s the problem and it’s not. If I’m lucky the video will play but it’s extremely laggy and at a video quality so bad I cant even see what’s happening on the screen. I love Rave but I literally cannot use it. A shame. My girlfriend has the same issue too, so I know it’s not just me.

Hi so me and friend of mine wanted to watch something together and we found Rave called this app and we was so excited so we didn’t read any reviews we downloaded Rave soon after 10 minutes we was trying to figure out Rave and we saw location bottom and we clicked on it and it showed both of our locations me and friend tryed to take off the location and we couldn’t and scariest part is that it did let us know that it was going to show our location I feel the important thing is our safety because let’s be honest there’s a lot of creeps In the world on top of all of that some random guy join asking us where we live and then said our town we was living in and the other people joined and told us they trying to take there location off also asking the same questions we did after we had panic attacks we claimed down and someone else come and joined and we went to see if our location was still on and we the lady’s location and she at the market showing the same market and city she was at as much as me and my friend was so excited to use Rave we had to delete as soon as possible also Rave caused a lot of anxiety and panic attacks soon after my friend and I deleted Rave I realized I had major trust issues in downloading other apps so if your reading this pls do not download Rave if u don’t want your location exposed and feel violated

So lately me and my girlfriend have noticed a few weird things happening on this app. We always thought it was weird how it shows our general location on a map. If it causes so much drama on Rave and reviews, why not just remove the feature? Most people don’t want it anyways because it’s weird and uncomfortable. Rabbit didn’t have this and it thrived. The last few times I received a notification in Rave itself like a :) message popping up from this app while watching a show in a private session. It wasn’t even a notification on my device. It was in Rave itself like it has been compromised or something. What really made us end up deleting this app for good was someone actually joined our private session and changed the session privacy to from private to public. Then they played a random video and left. That just freaked us out and made us immediately delete this application. There is no excuse for this application to have that bad of security issues to this extent. I have no idea if they will ever fix this, but it really made me sad because this is the closest thing to rabbit that i have been able to find since it went down. I really hope there will be huge changes to security on Rave and there is an official announcement regarding it all in full detail because it really was great app. What a shame.

I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews which is important to take into consideration when downloading Rave. I have been using Rave for about 3 or more months and haven’t run into any “hacking” issues. This is the only app that works for me and my friend when we just wanna watch a movie together. I would also recommend it if your trying to find people who have the same interest. Honestly I am possible one of the few that found some safe online friends with Rave. Other apps I don’t trust as well but this is a decent app. I would recommend it and I give props to the developers for making this and trying to make an app worth downloading.
There was only a few problems, which was I wasn’t able to get into Viki which is one of the options they offer but it doesn’t show up in Rave for me. Also this may be just a personal preference but I would recommend to the developers to add maybe a profile tab to see what exactly can be accessed or not.

Me and my wife have been using this while I’m stationed far away and it worked great at first. It really made things easier to spend time watching our favorite shows and movies together. Although, over the past few months it seems to have been getting progressively worse with each update. At first it was just taking a few attempts to start a show because it would load then force quit Rave right before the show started. After each update more and more would go wrong. It’s to the point now where after the most recent update Rave just force quits in the middle of the show, the screen size will zoom and cut off most of the show, it’ll cycle between stating it’s offline and not allow me or whoever is watching on the other end to type or speak yet the show continues, and randomly kick the other viewer off the stream and not let them back on even after sending multiple invites and creating a whole new stream again. Very sad because we used Rave a lot but if the issues aren’t fixed it’ll have to be deleted.

It’s a pretty good app, I really enjoy using it with my friends! However, I try to use my Netflix entering my phone number and it opens but it still doesn’t let me see things with my friends, it just shows me “you’ve chosen to party with your friends in the lobby, if you wanna watch with them sign in” and I do but it still doesn’t let me, I don’t use my email because I can’t remember it, and it opens with my phone number so, it feels like I have no option but to open my Netflix by only using my email, it would be better if I could use my phone number to open my Netflix and be able to enjoy watching it with my friends too

Update: Thank you for replying! Now I know better, your app is great overall, I enjoy it and it’s very fun, thank you for clarifying that the only way to access Netflix is with the email, I’ll check in with the email instead, thank you for your patience And keep it up with Rave , it’s great!

I’ve never written a negative review for an app because I didn’t want to bother so I just deleted them, that’s not the point here. I rely on this app to watch movies and videos with friends and it was working fine until recently.
1. Rave freezes sometimes for no reason so I have to close Rave and sometimes that doesn’t solve it
2. After some time the chats don’t show up for the other person
3. Videos take long to load sometimes
I was watching a movie with a friend and the whole screen froze, no big deal, I closed the application but the audio was still playing. I told my friend to pause it and he did but I could still hear it as if the movie was still playing. I had to restart my phone for it to work again. Minutes later it happens again but I can’t even close the application NOR shut my phone off. I have an iPhone XR that’s only 3 months old, everything up to date. Restarting my phone doesn’t solve anything. Please fix these bugs, this app is the only app I can watch stuff with friends on ever since Rabbit was shut down.

My fiancé and I are living in Florida and NC, respectively, and being able to use Rave has really helped us to spend a lot more quality time together. It’s basically like we’re together minus being able to actually physical touch. We always enjoyed watching movies and binge watching shows or series like most couples so having Rave is really so amazing. I would recommend it to couples or family members who like to watch stuff together. I don’t know what I’d do without Rave to spend time with her honestly. It has helped us feel close so much. It always operates smoothly too. Doesn’t have the most aesthetically pleasing format/ graphics but it works very well as long as your WiFi’s are both good. Only problem I have is that some streaming services like Disney+ aren’t on here (yet hopefully!) other than that Rave is great 5/5 stars. 100% satisfied :)

To start off, Rave is amazing and works phenomenally almost all of the time. It's the only app that has actually allowed my friends and I to watch videos together. However, there are some issues regarding connectivity and glitches that should be brought to attention. Firstly, there's one glitch that causes your chats to not be able to send and effectively forces you out of the this app, even though you can still watch the video. This is easily fixed by force closing Rave and rejoining, though. Secondly, another glitch causes certain raves to not open and stay on the loading screen, but this is minor and doesn't occur frequently.

A question for the developers: would it be possible if TikTok compatibility is added to Rave ? It might be a stretch seeing how TikTok isn't based around videos, but it would be a really nice addition and would garner the attention of a younger audience.

I hate to see all the bad reviews you guys are getting on your app. I’ve had it for a while, and only encounter problems when my internet is bad. Occasionally a video wouldn’t load but that’s just the nature of apps like this, can’t expect it to be picture perfect. The one thing I will say though, is this: I used to be able to call people and then open Rave and watch videos like that, but an update made it so being on a call will not play videos. Please don’t take this negatively, though, it just meant we had to use Rave ’s built in microphone, which was a little less convenient but worked nonetheless. I appreciate all the work put into Rave, and throughout all my uses, I’ve never had any issues with logins or “hacks.” It’s a great app, especially during this quarantine period. Keep up the good work, devs.

I really like Rave but there are a few things that I don’t like. One of the biggest things that I don’t like is that you can’t watch a tv series with someone on Netflix. Last night I was all excited because I wanted to watch a series with one of my good friends and then I realized that you can’t. A message will pop up saying “Error There was a problem loading this video”. No matter how many times you click retry it doesn’t do anything. The biggest reason I downloaded this app was to watch a series with someone and enjoy the series. I don’t know if there is a way around this to watch a series but what I’ve tried it doesn’t seem like it. Another thing that I don’t like about Rave is that sometimes it lags. Other than these two things I love Rave but I wish that you could watch series on this app.

I downloaded Rave, and immediately they asked for me to sign in with an already existing account. A facebook, twitter, or google account. Before you sign in to one of they say that they will access your information from the account. They do not give you an option to create an in-app account. They ask to know your location, even if you say no, it knows your country. If you sign in with any account and then log out, going back in to sign into the same type of account (if you have two google account or something and decide to use your 2nd one but already logged into the 1st one) it says you have logged into an account already, and then if you say to proceed, they sign you back into the 1st one. They store your email and password to the account. If you want to watch Netflix, even off of someone else's Netflix account in a "this app" room, they make you sign into a Netflix account. They store your data and have access to everything in whatever account you give them the password and email too.

After trying out Rave, the development team behind it seems super, super fast about responses (to which, this doesn’t necessarily need one... ha!). That’s important to me as a user. The basic “premise” of all these apps is going to get you what you want, but just watching overall response time, this is the “VHS” to everyone else’s “BetaMax”, the “Blu-Ray” to everyone else’s “HD-DVD”. I don’t know who is behind this. TRUST ME, I’ve been teaching virtually and used every product being developed to help with communication and trying to bring people together. That’s the impression I get from this company. They seem the hungriest. Just to prove a point, how many people actually REMEMBER “HD-DVD”? Ok, so some yes, fair enough. But how many OWN a player? That’s what I thought. Now youngsters, get this app and search for what BetaMax is. I’m serious. My money is on this app.

it took all my information and when i said no location it still knows your country and when i went to settings to see if it had location access even after i said no it still allowed it and when you log it it says “read the risks” it also has access to whatever account you signed into and immediately when you join it has a bunch of invites from asian people. and when i read the fine print it says “allow access to camera” do not get Rave. when i left Rave it still had access to my Netflix. i do not think they have the authority to use netflix because Netflix doesn’t allow you to share your password with random people (or in this case sites) AGAIN DO NOT GET Rave. i was talking about a show with my friend and i joined a random this app and it was the exact same show we were talking about. this constantly happened every day so we decided that there were to many red flags. it also says allow access to microphone even tho you don’t need it because you’re texting and not talking!!!!

listen guys. i'm not sure why everyone is saying this apps steals your info. look through the responses and read the developer comments and explanations. okay so, Rave is honestly amazing. it was super user friendly and easy to create a room. the invitation process was easy as well and my friends were able to join quickly. at first the quality was horrible so i made my friends hang up the facetime call. IMMEDIATELY the screen was normal as if i was watching netflix myself. the ability to type in the chat or turn on mics to speak to each other is so awesome. obviously they're not perfect mechanics yet, however they work and that's all that matters. We ended up watching movies all night and it was so fun. I would definitely recommend this to y'all!!

I have read the reviews before I downloaded Rave. There were half of the reviews saying the bad sides of Rave like how it wants to steal your private infos and stuff, meanwhile the other half suggested Rave based on some so called tech expert views. Rave (this app- watch together) doesn’t offer any in app sign up and requires you to sign in with facebook, Twitter or your google account, this actually sounds fine. However, from my view point I always use google account in order to use these kinds of apps instead of using my social media account. So I went on logging in with gmail, TOTALLY BLOWN OUT, they wants to access my google drive and seek permission allow them to create edit or delete files stored in the google drive. I am sure most of you won’t believe this, GIVE IT A TRY, only then you will know. Like literally, I would prefer Watching movies with friends over FaceTime rather than this hypocritical apps. DONT GET CARRIED AWAY BY THE PAID POSITIVE REVIEWS for the sake of YOUR PRIVACY!!!!!

I can’t watch anything on this app anymore. iPhone XS Max and it will literally not play on my cell service connection. Speed test checked at 35Mb down and 22Mb up Google test. Then I click over to my home WiFi connection which is only 7.5Mb down/up and it’s slow, laggy and will not catch up. I sit there and stare at the black screen and my friend happily watches it play on their side with no warning I’m being left behind. If I open Netflix without Rave both WiFi and cell network play the movie just fine.
Rave gives me trust issues!!! Ironically it worked great until the updates and Bug-Inductions started being incorporated. I really hope they come back around as Rave used to be amazing.

I really absolutely LOVE Rave. For the longest time I’ve been trying to look for an app just like this so me and my long distance friends can actually watch movies together, but Netflix really has a low variety of movies and most are so boringgg. I was thinking if you could maybe add Disney plus? That would make Rave perfect! Please take it into consideration! Also there’s this weird glitch, like when I friend someone they don’t show up on my friends list and I’m not able to invite them to my this app and then when I search for them again it says we’re friends but then when I go back it doesn’t show up on my friends list😭 pls fix this bug, that’s the only issue I seem to be having, but besides that everything seems to be running fine.

I’ve loved Rave, it has allowed my long distance girlfriend and I to enjoy shows together! My only complaints is: the fast forwarding has been very difficult, so when we have to stop mid-episode it’s very difficult to fast forward back to where we left off. The main thing I want from Rave (I’ve seen others request this on here too) is for there to be a feature where we can see each other while we watch. We’ve been holding off on all comedies and horror shows until we can see each other so that we can watch each other laugh and scream so I can’t wit for that! Also not as important but would be cool if y’all add HBO max and Disney+... but I love Rave and can’t wait for the improvements!

Overall, Rave is extremely solid. The main gripes I have with this app is that it suffers from a plethora of stability issues and that it doesn’t include Disney+ or HBO as supported platforms. The stability issues range from you temporarily being “offline” from your this app and having your keyboard and mic deactivate to the very frustrating problem of not being able to load certain videos due to a “this app creation problem.”

One final issue I have with Rave is the mic. When a video is being streamed and others turn on their mics, the volume of the mic in comparison to the video isn’t balanced properly and leads to either the person or video being too soft.

Though I am sounding very negative throughout this review, I just want to reiterate that I love Rave to death. I am yet to find another app of this caliber that seamlessly allows one to watch videos with their friends. I just believe that with some minor tweaks Rave could go from being great to perfect.

Rave asks for access to ALL of your data from personal accounts. Let me make it clear, they can see every picture you’ve sent or received, every message you’ve sent or received as well as your passwords and location. Not only do they make you keep your location on the entire time, but they also allow other viewers to see exactly where you are (if you zoom in). When you finally get into Rave you’re greeted with only people from Asia (Indians and some form of Chinese/Korean- I’m not sure what language and I don’t want to be offensive). They also have access to your mic/camera and they turn it on any time they’d like to get a quick peek or listen. I don’t trust Rave. I’m not some crazy boomer rambling on about how the government is listening in on our calls. Rave seriously isn’t safe and I don’t recommend. They need to seriously fix their app so we can feel some form of security. I urge you to not download it. If you did please look into revoking their access like I did. According to another review, this app got into their account and then changed their password so now they no longer have access to their own data. You’re giving them permission to do this when you agree to their terms. You have been warned.

I love the idea of Rave. t’s pretty cool that you can watch different videos/shows with your friends. However, My BIGGEST issue and something that’s terribly difficult for me to get over is how early it cuts the videos/shows off. Me and my boyfriend enjoy watching Netflix series together and I get so irritated with how soon it ends and prompts us to choose the next episode. Also the video freezes up very frequently and the audio doesn’t play a lot of times. I’m still giving 3 stars because I think overall the concept of Rave is a very savvy. Hope y’all take this feedback into consideration it definitely has a lot of potential!

This is a really nice,easy, and clean app. It does have a couple of bugs. One of the biggest cons of Rave I would have to say is the microphone option when watching a movie or video. The microphone is so loud and so echoey you cant even have it on while watching the video with your friends. On top of the microphone being buggy. Even when you plug in you headphones the persons every move is sonified and LOUD. So you can't even hear the video or movie your watching! Sometimes you can barely understand what the people are understanding too. It really needs to be fixed....

Alright, Rave is very stable and awesome and fun to use! But I couldn't help to notice that it needs to have more improvements in the friends list area like been able to see who’s online + kick someone in the chat + block people... also there is a major issues with bluetooth wireless headphones as they are disconnecting and connecting all the time which is disturbing to the amazing experience!!

I’ve started using this in lieu of rabbit and honestly? I’m liking this much better!! So far using it has been great! My only issue with it is that my friends and I are a bit of nerds and so some of the shows we watch we won’t find on the other services. So I’m just hoping that the range gets expanded at least out to crunchyroll, but for now we’ll just watch what we can find!

Rave ran relatively smoothly. I didn’t really enjoy having to sign into google to use it, but I know I can always cut off permission. I will be doing so now, because in the middle of a PRIVATE session with only one other person, we both heard three people speaking to us in Spanish. It didn’t fit at all into the video that we were watching, and they responded when I spoke. They did not show up in the list of people in the room and after they stopped, we switched to a different app.

Needless to say, Rave has lost any trust I had in its security and I won’t be using it again for a long time.

Whenever i would be switching from portrait mode and a video ends then it would go fill the entire screen except for the chat and then when the next video starts only the middle small part of the screen is what i can see. It’s easily fixed by going to portrait mode and then going back but it’s still very very annoying

Rave brings my long distance friends and I closer every time we do a movie date. I’m in love with Rave. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and it’s been working without failure. My one request is now that Disney + is out, could the developers please add that as a streaming site? I’d love to watch all the classics with my friends.

My own question is why do AirPods sometime comply with this app and other times it doesn’t? I was watching with my mate abroad and our AirPods connected fine at the beginning, but after awhile, we watched like 3 episodes and then when the new episode was gonna begin, my AirPods just stopped being connected. They weren’t dead because I checked and they were on 46%, and after trying to relog and reload Rave , it just never connected again, so we had to cut short.

Ever since I logged into my Netflix account with Rave, I can no longer use my Netflix account on any other devices. I am still logged in on the other devices, but Netflix will not work on anything other than Rave now. I am within the limit of authorized devices with my account, but everything shows up as an error except for Rave. Rave is also pretty complicated and does not seem very popular in the US. As soon as I sign out on Rave, I can use Netflix on the other devices. I will be deleting my account/ Rave

They hacked my gmail account, since you have to enter your password and email to use Rave . I tried to get them back, but now I currently don’t have access to them anymore. According to other reviews they also have access to my photos, camera, location, mic, etc. I deleted Rave , but who knows if they can still access all of my personal information. My friend also lost her Netflix account. Don’t trust Rave, there is no privacy. I want my personal information gone from their possession.

Rave has literally been the number one thing I do with all of my friends. they are a tad bit of issues sometimes and i wish there were more watching options but im sure you guys have something planned :<). Rave is amazing so please keep up the good work! i honestly cannot imagine my life without Rave!

Me and my friend tried to use other apps like this and the others would always make you pay or wouldn’t ever work, but this actually does! It’s worth it and it’s free. The only improvement I think would bring able to give people permission to pause and unpause instead of only one person
