Design is not user friendly

I get that new software is going to tiles because grids are so what....90s but seriously this does not make a user friendly checkout process. If the designers want tiles then why not create the feature to add a grid under a tile for example my location: “space A” so everything I sell is for “space A” tile created as a grid. Then more tiles can be used for other functional use. I watched the video and they lack information needed for small businesses that work pop up location like art fairs and such. Shopify I rave to others about how simple and user friendly everything is and this update is crap. Why change a system that works with the grid and before holiday season.

It’s just pretty looking but horrible

Since the update, it has sync issues with products, so I keep having to keep duplicating a product page until it syncs. To use the different developments, like adding a tile, it sometimes lets you do that, and most times no. To add salt to the wound, you’re charging an extra $89 per Brick and mortar above the monthly fee for this, which is not efficient AT ALL.

User management removed

User management removed from free version to compel users to upgrade. Crappy move on the part of Shopify to make us pay for an app that is lousy at what it does already. For example - very difficult to track orders from web in bricks and motor location. Why can’t online orders for I store pick up be set up to automatically print in store where they need to be fulfilled. Or at least generate on screen alerts or pings so floor staff members can prepare orders for pick ups. No. This must be monitored in a seperate back office app that is not at all user friendly on an iPad

Messing up when I need to move quickly>:/

I’ve been using ShopifyPointofSalePOS for over a month now and everything has been smooth until the last week or 2. When I type in the 1st word of a product to bring it up quickly, product is nowhere to be found and I have to manually go and search for it when I’ve got customers waiting to swipe their card. Some products just didn’t pop up at all and I have to explain to customer that receipt will show a different product but price will still be the same. Not very good.

Don’t expect much, they will let you down sooner or later

Shopify trick you into thinking this is the best all around software for small business owners at the beginning, and just before the holiday season they give you a big price jump; If you don’t want to go with the new pricing, they cut your service that you have been using for over a year to bare minimum (lite). Not only we don't get a break for the pandemic, they are making our life even more difficult. We are now on Shopify lite, and guess what, they took away the exchange function. Do you know any successful retail boutique store that doesn't provide exchange services?

Needs more features to be functional

There are SO many features that are needed before ShopifyPointofSalePOS is actually functional. There needs to be a search for products and collections when adding this to the home grid. More tiles on the home grid. Let me add multiple unique items to the cart from the custom item sale before this. It takes so long to add 1 item and then select custom item again. Let me add multiple from the custom item screen. Generally this needs better search functions. More intuitive payment screen and connect to my CC reader once and don’t make me reconnect it every hour.

Doesn’t show all of the products

When I type in a product it doesn’t always pull it up but it’s clearly available in the system. This proves to be a problem while my customers are waiting in line to pay for their items...they said they fixed this issue but they in fact did not.

Horrible update

What was the point of this horrible unnecessary update?!?
Where’s daily current total, do I need to add up each sale on my phone to see how much we are so far?
Before I’ve had all my store items on the screen, so I can just click on one and add it. Nooow, with those tiles, to have them all on the main screen, I need to do it MANUALLY ONE BY ONE (to add it to the main screen). What if there are 300 items let’s say?!?
Why “accepts marketing” option in the receipt is ON by default?
Those are just few things that really made me hate ShopifyPointofSalePOS after 1 day of using it. Oh, and the price that went up.

Having issues.

All the sudden ShopifyPointofSalePOS doesn’t work. Won’t update. And now ShopifyPointofSalePOS isn’t even showing as an icon on my phone but it still says it’s updating in ShopifyPointofSalePOS Store.... ShopifyPointofSalePOS is very useful to my everyday life and now it’s just a burden to my cc sales when I drop off clothing in person... please help.

GO BACK TO CLASSIC

Hey Shopify-
Listen to your feedback! Among other things sales associates can no longer see the current daily total until they close out the register. If you have ever worked in retail you understand that being able to check daily totals throughout the day is imperative- employees need to be able to check progress on daily sales goals, which increases and encourages both moral & incentive. Going to analytics on ShopifyPointofSalePOS is not a solution- this is not acceptable. Again, LISTEN to your customers and make the changes we are requesting. Thanks for your time.

Bugs in stable version

Erratic behavior, showing a different subtotal than the actual items in the cart and sometimes adding tax to tax exempt items on the checkout (right side) of the screen. ShopifyPointofSalePOS sometimes freezes at login and will not allow the 4 digit PIN to be entered, or allows the first 1-3 digits and then freezes. Shopify Support doesn’t have any solutions other than to delete ShopifyPointofSalePOS and reinstall. Also, update to latest iPadOS version. Waiting years for the ability to add permanent Custom Sale options with variable price. Shopify, you can do better!

Give me the option to Make the cart disappear because...

I have 200 items, Half the screen is taken up with the cart when it could used for browsing and selecting products! The option to make the collection images smaller would be helpful Shopify😉to remove the bottleneck🍼
Beside that, ShopifyPointofSalePOS works very well with my Shopify site.

Give us back the tiles!

The new “Smart Grid” is anything but, forcing a product search to show up in an alternate pop up search menu instead of just narrowing down options on the home screen is the opposite of streamlined, and forcing the creation of a button to apply rewards instead of connecting it directly to customer accounts adds complications that just aren’t necessary.

If there were a way to keep ShopifyPointofSalePOS how it was before the update, or “new design”, I would. As it is, I’m looking for alternate options.

On the fence

While I love the sleek new look, I notice a few things have been taken away and now requires a paid upgrade to Pro. Something as simple as the ability to send the cart to a customer is no longer available unless you pay to upgrade? It’s been free for the 8 years I’ve been using it! Maybe I have more to learn so I will update my review but for now, I give it 3 stars

Save Cart Feature : Bring it Back!!

We desperately need the save cart feature back. When multiple customers are shopping at once it is the ONLY way to keep track of people’s items without multiple re-entries of the same item, or handwriting item numbers and customer names to re enter into Shopify later. We’d love to see it back by Christmas.

Very slow checkout process

Takes about 45sec to 60sec to do one simple sale. Multiply that by 10+ customers waiting in line. Process used to be very fast, about 4-5 sec.
Shopify says it’s our local network but it happens on all 3 of our business locations?? We get full WiFi speeds at our locations.
Also miss the grid layout as well.
When searching products the keyboard hides most of the product results and they aren’t alphabetical anymore.

Meh, it works fine. Just fine.

Not wonderful, not terrible, just fine. Like when on a hot day, and you are craving some cool fresh water, but you only have half a bottle that rolled out from under the seat of your car. You’re still going to drink it, but there’s no satisfaction involved.

Again; it’s fine. It works (mostly). It keeps you alive. But in no way would it ever be your first choice.

Confusing layout, lacking basic functions

I mean I guess it works… you can ring in products and take payments. But don’t expect any sort of efficiency out of ShopifyPointofSalePOS. Terrible user interface. Also it’s just a way to make you pay more money to them. It cost $90 extra a month, PER LOCATT! As if your monthly fee for the website isn’t enough, and the cut they take from every single credit card transaction.

Can’t make a return without attaching to an order!

You cannot return an item for refund of cash or gift card if the item being returned is a gift with no order to attach to. If you can find the order and return the item the gift giver gets the return as well as notification of the return. Needs a simple option to return item for gift card or cash. Clover has this option.

The New Update is Horrible

Do not update. There is too many glitches. Hopefully you read this before you download the latest update. The program was terrific until this last update. i would have given it a 4.5 prior to this last update 4.4. The program will change the tax rate after the sale. Even if you select no tax and when you do charge tax it will not give the correct amount. We undercharged a customer. Sometimes u can’t even accept payment. You get stuck with the customer upset. Also now in order to give a discount more then a $1.00. They require you to do the same step twice. Taking twice as long to enter the discount for the customer. I have had Shopify for 5 years and this is the first time I am very unhappy with the progress. It went from great to horrible. Shopify this must be fixed right away. Otherwise I am switching and I believe others will too.

Very glitchy, slow, works sometimes??

I’ve used Shopify for the past 3 years, I have loved it up until January 2018. The card reader works the first time 1/10 tries, I ordered a new one thinking the first one was used too much. The new one doesn’t work, my check out process takes way too long. It often times loads forever to even get to the receipt page. Every single transaction I find myself saying “sorry my system is just being weird today”. The only reason I haven’t switched to something else because I really need my website inventory and in store inventory to link up. Really hoping something changes soon because this is too big of a hassle.

Great for some things

ShopifyPointofSalePOS needs another update. I haven’t been able to email customers because their email addresses don’t show up in ShopifyPointofSalePOS . I thought one of the updates had deleted customer info and I was upset, but it’s there if I use the internet to login. I’m grateful I can email invoices and make some simple changes to things via ShopifyPointofSalePOS , but I would like to go back to emailing invoices from ShopifyPointofSalePOS .

Deletes orders.. beware

ShopifyPointofSalePOS worked great for us at a trade show.. until we logged out while in offline mode. When we logged back in ShopifyPointofSalePOS had deleted all of our orders. When we contacted Shopify for help they worked hard, but in the end they were not able to be recreated. Beware of offline mode. In today’s day and age I think it’s pretty crazy they don’t just save it to the background. Also images and customers have to reload every time you logon to ShopifyPointofSalePOS . Why doesn’t it just store a cached copy on your device?

Card reader does not stay connected

Our card reader disconnects all the time. It creates very slow transactions. :(

Update: Shopify is constantly making updates and improving ShopifyPointofSalePOS . They also have great customer service and receive feature requests!

Great app, but missing some features

I like using ShopifyPointofSalePOS and it makes it easy at POS with customers. However it's missing some features from the iPad version. At this level it shouldn't matter which device you're using, it should function the same. A bit frustrating setting the staff permissions settings too.

Love Shopify

Been using for years, no issues. One recommendation is to be allowed to adjust the grid of products in the Shopify app rather than just everything in alphabetical order. Maybe a best sellers tab or something that allows quick access to the most popular items

New user. It’s ok.

Please add a notification feature to ShopifyPointofSalePOS when an online purchase is made.

Chip reader worked the first time but not the second. Had to manually enter card info because it recognized the card as a chip card and refused to swipe it. Bluetooth disconnects once the phone locks, FYI.

Shopify products have been very helpful. Card reader has been working perfectly and Bluetooth option is very convenient and has worked every time

Great if you don’t want your money

So they have a nice interface but the bottom line is they withhold payments for no reason and no amount of contacting customer service has done me any good at all (trying by email and by phone). I told them I don’t think it makes sense that I’m paying monthly for this “service” while not receiving any money from my sales, with absolutely no explanation given. No apology, and no money. Not a great way to run a business, guys.

No calculated shipping option or PayPal payment

We are a print on demand business and the pos app doesn’t calculate shipping when we enter a customers informattion. So instead we have to process all our sales while at a conference or on the road through the website but have to manually enter the credit card information. Also the pos system doesn’t give an option for a costumer to pay with PayPal. I love Shopify but i am surprised they have the way I de par pos app

Having serious card reader connection issues

Two different phones and the card reader goes in and out of connection resulting in awful experiences with customers standing there watching us fumble. Infuriating. It worked before but now won’t stay connected to ShopifyPointofSalePOS . Had to revert to the auxiliary reader and now might consider square permanently. We paid money for the card reader and it works awfully. Very let down.

Online Orders

ShopifyPointofSalePOS overall is good. But, it will not allow the option of making an online order/ship to customer. That’s something that is not on iPhone and it will be great. Being able to process the full transaction, process payments and have the merchandise shipped to the customer’s address.

Please bring that option!!!

ShopifyPointofSalePOS works well and has all of the features I need to run my business. I’m not sure why there are negative reviews since I’ve never had an issue with ShopifyPointofSalePOS .

Wish it was faster

I really wish this could operate a bit faster. Especially when it comes to the final checkout process where you accept payment. The credit card part isn’t too bad, but cash sales are painfully slow!
