DOWN Hookup & Date: Dating App Reviews

I am not 100% sure it was this specific app that hijacked my FB account but i am about 97% sure. Just after signing in using my password immediately it said my password was incorrect and after several attempts to login with what i knew was the correct password I tried the “forgot password “ option and after I enter my E-mail address it said I didn’t exist! Thank goodness I always use a secondary browser for my apps that want me to log in via FB as i don’t trust FB and I don’t know these apps well enough to judge them but they certainly haven’t earned my trust. I went onto my FB app and some how DOWNHookupDate was able to change and erase my password, my primary e-mail address, my backup e-mail, and my 2 step verification method so i got no e-mail, text, or even notifications via messenger. This is too faulty a way to verify anything from an app i will certainly never try DOWNHookupDate again or any other app requiring my log in via FB to verify age or Identity. Don’t we get enough malware already? Why make more? I spent the entire day trying to get back into my FB account and was finally successful but I waisted a good work day.

‎I was two years ago trying dating but it was desperate, most self-centered people and 5% of normal people or are out of boredom, or they lie to you telling you what you want to hear and when they get what they want they flee, or if you see the duster and you stop talking you harass you sending WhatsApp and if not sms (be careful who to give the phone to). All I know is that you have to be cautious, it's important not to give up. Based on installing and uninstalling, I finally found a guy with his feet on the ground, super attentive and totally related to me, without even a premium subscription. There are people for everything but the important thing here is not to give up because in the end everyone finds what they are looking for. I've been with my guy for 6 months now and great. Thank you Down for bringing people closer together, more in this unprecedented time.‎

Got on DOWNHookupDate and could only see a few profiles before DOWNHookupDate is locked with trying to shove the purchase down your throat. Read a bunch of negative reviews and also where the developer states that there is a decline button and there only a “not now” link but takes you to the same place and you can’t proceed anywhere else. What a crock. Apple should do a better job of screening apps before approving junk like this. For real. There are people that just want to hook up, and there’s nothing wrong with that but there are people that are looking for something long term, from the reviews I’ve read you won’t find either on this junk of an app, do yourself a favor and don’t even download it, if enough people stay away from crap like this, maybe they’ll take it down. Garbage. Also I had to give one star rating because they don’t offer negative zero.

I have gotten many dates since I joined up and that was better odds since the other ones gave me weekly turn out rate for my dates I try to go out on. The rates were good and there was more than one hook up I found on the other sites and they fit me a lot better than what seemed like just random guesses for me. I could change my settings well compared to the other sites. It seemed pretty much the same to me though like it was just the same to me. I thought it was a great design for on the go use finding matches as I go and don't have time to find a date in the real world in face to face time with others.

Spent about a week on DOWNHookupDate back in April 2019 before going on my first date. The interactions felt much more organic than on other dating apps and it was much easier to start a meaningful conversation and find common ground with matches. People are much more focused on really getting to know each other here rather than looking for a short-term fling. I can happily report that the person I went on my first date from here on is now my boyfriend of nearly one year. I never expected it to work out the way it did but I’m extremely grateful for DOWNHookupDate and it leading me to the person of my dreams.

I can’t even say for sure that DOWNHookupDate is real or has a single real female on it.

Looks at the 5 star reviews most are the same exact wording with different names of the user who submitted the review. I found 3 reviews that used the same exact wording in the review. That is not a coincidence that is someone (obviously an idiot) who copied and paste the same review but under different names.

The “real” women that respond are all scammers from India or Africa and find a local address that they pretend to live at. One gave me the address to city hall haha. It’s laughable and I got DOWNHookupDate for security research purposes and found it to be one scam after another all originating from India or Africa. People be smart and don’t send someone a Xbox gift card so their child can play videos games while you get “down” . DOWNHookupDate should be removed from DOWNHookupDate Store.

This is indeed a scam. $20 to see unlimited poorly uploaded photos and fake profiles. I matched with a woman who ended up blocking me for mo reason on her mobile number. Ok? I researched the number I was communicating with and it appears to belong to a 66-year-old man. Gross. I surmise there are a bunch of men on here trying to solicit photos from other men under the cloak of posing as a woman. Not only do many people have photos of kids on here, which is very disturbing, I don’t believe they are real. The photos are all pixelated from being poor quality to begin with. Most likely they were stolen or lifted from other places. No one matches, no one writes back, no one has a bio or updated profile. This is a legitimate scam. I’m demanding my money back or perhaps there’s enough here for a class action lawsuit. You can see reviews that are duplicates of one another on here.

with Down aplication you can be assured that the person you are meeting is everything that they are advertised to be – both in their pictures and their profile. For me, I wanted that piece of mind. While I realized the cost would be more than those dating sites, I strongly felt that you could not put a price tag on having this piece of mind. I believe in making an investment in your future and your happiness. So, if you are serious about wanting to be in a committed, long-term romantic relationship, then I highly recommend only one service - Down Date aplication.

‎Since Corona I started to use Down and my experiences are only positive. In the beginning, I had a paid account because I was curious about my matches.‎Even if that makes it a little easier, it is not ‎ necessary. Even without paying, there were plenty of matches. To be clear, I'm 46 and definitely not the most handsome boy in the class.‎Nevertheless, I have had several successful dates and even 2 short-lived ‎‎relationships. That it didn't end up being long-term relationships wasn't Down's fault, of course. ‎‎Be honest about yourself and you'll have a date in no ‎‎time.‎

I downloaded DOWNHookupDate about a week ago, and I moved myself around to any city near me to see who it would pick up. I only saw 20-30 people, and some of them were in far away states that have cities the same name as cities close to me. There is no way to specify which one you want. And now, they won’t even let me do that without paying a $20 monthly subscription, which I obviously won’t do. Also, before all this crap, it would at least let me look in the browse section for free. Not anymore. It says to do a 7 day free trial and then subscription, but if you click on it, there’s no mention of a trial, just the subscription. There’s also no way to say you aren’t interested in their trial/subscription. Overall, just downright appalling how someone spent their time and money developing such a pathetic app

for millions of years humanity's choice of partner was dictated by your actual physical location and social circle but now we have Down app. the effort that must have been required to manually arrange a relationship or sexual arrangement in person (rather than just doing it on your phone) is literally unfathomable to me. I simply can't believe how lucky I am to belong to the first ever generation to be exposed to hundreds of eligible females at the touch of a button. swiping my way towards joint hypermobility syndrome in each of my thumbs. cannot get enough

What an App! Many thanks to the creators of this little gem. I had tried the others and found them tiring, mindless conversation going no where. Then I downloaded Down app. Although I didn't have any success for a few months I kept it on there anyway. Living in a small town is harder with DOWNHookupDate as less people however I one day 2 years ago made a match! We went on a date and haven't looked back since. We are due to be married in July this year and had a baby! Thanks Down app!!!!!!!

I used to have great success using DOWNHookupDate and I used to meet people all the time from it and about a month ago they did an update and now DOWNHookupDate is completely broken and I never match with anyone at all. It’s not me I’ve been using DOWNHookupDate for a year and it worked perfectly fine hooked up with dozens of girls but now ever since the last update people do not match anymore at all. Fix DOWNHookupDate

Update: thanks for your concern developer, but your app is completely broken. I used to talk to at least 10 girls a week. I’ve met probably five girls, telling me that I’m wrong or that I am having problem using your app is ridiculous. You broke it, now fix it, especially because I pay actual money

To be honest, I installed DOWNHookupDate because my buddy told me that it's entertaining to swipe around and have a potential to meet somebody who's interested in you. Of course not every match is going to be a winner. Just like when you meet new people in person. But, all I really want to say is that I couldn't thank the developers enough for creating something that actually brought me and someone I may have never met, together. All in all, DOWNHookupDate is worth a download, you have nothing to lose

Everything about DOWNHookupDate screams fake! I've been premium for a few weeks now and despite getting plenty of matches on other dating apps, I've only matched with two people on DOWNHookupDate, both of whom appear to be fake. Neither has said anything at all, not one word. Every time I don't use DOWNHookupDate for a few days DOWNHookupDate sends me "new singles" and offers to boost my profile for a fee. It's a scam all the way around, and I'm guessing that most of these profiles aren't even real. Giant waste of time and money!

Also suspect is the fact that after I left a bad review, I stopped getting any new singles at all in DOWNHookupDate , despite it telling me every day that there are new singles available. Nothing about DOWNHookupDate is real.

DOWNHookupDate is great honestly. Meeting new people is always so peculiar and exciting. Sometimes people dont answer back immediately and that's okay. It cycles people over again sometimes but not as much as you'd think. Most often than not there are plenty of faces and so many exceptional opportunities if you just allow yourself to be a good human being instead of a creeper. If you are having a hard time matching with someone, dont fall to critical! Just be sincere, that's what people like.

I just said I do yesterday to my husband that I met, yes on DOWNHookupDate. I meet the best man of my life and I can't thank DOWNHookupDate enough. He and I both just wanted to try something new and bam we instantly kicked it off and now he's my best friend and I can't image my life without me. I was so nervous getting DOWNHookupDate at first and was a scared. Who knew it would be the best thing I ever did in my life? I want to thank DOWNHookupDate over and over. As I'm writing this I lay down on my husbands chest while he sleep. Because of Down app.

I met my partner through Down app and we have been together for over 1years! I am an introvert and struggled to meet people irl. We had no mutual friends and were from two different areas. I am sure that without DOWNHookupDate we wouldn't have met. There is no guarantee that DOWNHookupDate will bring you love but it worked for me. I think if you just be yourself, try to have fun, and don't take it too seriously, you're sure to meet some nice people. A positive attitude goes a Iong way! Love DOWNHookupDate!

To keep this review short: DOWNHookupDate is a watered down version of Tinder. You only see 10 photos every 24hrs, and your only options are to swipe up (Date), down (Down or DTF), or skip a person entirely. That wouldn’t be horrible if DOWNHookupDate actually worked. Instead, every time you open it, it’s forces you to go through three steps saying you don’t want to pay from a premium version. The majority of the profiles on there are fake/bots. **And lastly and most importantly, even if you do match up with a person (real), neither of you can talk unless one has paid. Your messages won’t be delivered. Verified this with a friend, finally matching two separate accounts. Don’t waste your time.

Last year after going through 1 horrible marriage and a 4 month hospital stay I was on this sight and found this guy who I found very handsome. Now a year and a half later we are happily married and couldn't ask for any better. I'm loving my relationship that I found on Down app! If I could of ran back time this would of been done in the very first place. I'm thankful for DOWNHookupDate and my wonderful husband that I found on Down. Thanks Down!

Disappointing. Despite having paid $20, there are very, very few profiles to even view. When you do, you are given the option to swipe up to "like" or "down" to hook up. Ok, so you might get to see three or four profiles every second or third day. It is slightly more the first day. So far, no notifications, no matches, nothing. I click DOWNHookupDate in the morning and all I see is a screen advertising another app. Also, there really is no place to say anything about yourself, just a picture. Maybe this is part of the problem. All you and those viewing you are able to see is a photo. Disappointing.

Where do you start? First off there is no real good “distance” changer, so you’ll get people from literally all over your area, many who are a real good ways away.

Furthermore, it portrays itself as a “true” hookup app. If we’re assuming the majority of users are real, you have the same exact problem as you do with Tinder (if you’re a guy, unless you’re drop dead handsome you’re gonna get low matches) but amplified here due to market of it being for hookups.

The worst part is that it lets you swipe on three people before trying to shovel the membership down your throat. I gave the free trial a spin, and it’s definitely not worth it.

Swipe 1 time, pops up an ad showing you membership perks. Swipe 5 times and it keeps and ad on your screen locking the browse section behind a pay premium to continue. Force app to close, swipe 1 time same thing, swipe the remainder of your 5 swipes and it’s the same profiles you swiped left on. Complete waste of time and so obnoxious I can’t see anyone other than some desperate fools actually paying for it. Bumble/OkCupid/tinder with a fresh install had 50+ matches first two days. 1 week with DOWNHookupDate not a single like lol.

Dev Response: I’ll have to take your word on it about having a no thanks option, but previously there wasn’t.

Not only is it an apparent scam, but their “support team” are a bunch of incompetence and/or scam artists themselves. I spent over a week back and forth emails. I’d send one, 2 days later they’d respond. Repeat that process 7 or 8 times. I paid 4.99 for a 7 day free trial and literally could not communicate with ANY MEMBER (unless I joined fully). So then what was the $4.99 charge for you ask? I STILL have no answer except that it was stolen from my iTunes account under extreme false pretenses (or as they are more commonly known as, LIES)
DO NOT EVEN TRY THE “$4.99 Trial” unless you want to just throw 4.99 away. Then knock yourself out.

I’m very familiar with popular dating apps (Tinder, OkC, POF, etc). This one has a poorly designed interface, confusing settings, and absolutely no users! I scrolled through literally 6 people before it ended the user feed. I live in Miami, so it’s not a location issue.

Furthermore, if you want to delete your account, like I imagine so many of you will, there’s only a ‘deactivate’ option and no option to delete your photos. So your account is more or less permanent. Their access to your Facebook info is likewise permanent.

Stay away from this train wreck.

this is the first app i wanted to continue using. Instead of making me answer more questions than my grandma asks at family lunch, my profile was ready within seconds.

DOWNHookupDate blows. Janky interface, nothing about it is intuitive. Despite purchasing one of its "special features" after the first of ten uses it never worked again. When I would try to use it again it kept throwing me back to the purchase screen. It was full of loops like this. Also at multiple times I found the full name of some the participants. I guess that's a great feature for stalkers. Maybe that's how it works... "we give you their names, then you find yourself on Facebook. Happy Hunting!"

I cannot even change photos without DOWNHookupDate locking up. In fact, I can only make one change of something at a time and must save. Mist often, it locks, I’m forced to restart and all changes are lost. One in 20 profiles are real. The remaining are fake and I’ve been inundated with bots. The ads never stop. DOWNHookupDate wants a user to pay a premium and doesn’t offer anything of value. I warn against anyone using or downloading DOWNHookupDate. It’s trash, it’s broken, and it violates privacy.

It’s not a functional dating app. You can’t really find out anything about someone except what they look like before you swipe. You can’t filter by distance, or anything that you can’t change about yourself (height, race, etc). It’s not even as good as Tinder, which is mostly drunk entertainment. If you want real dating apps, Clover and OkCupid are kind of leading right now. There’s no excuse for a dating app to be this clueless when there are so many out there.

I keep being told to swipe up or down, it only sweeps right or left...only! I'm being fed matches that are across the metroplex, 20-50 miles away. Nothing closer than that. This is not a very helpful or useful app.

Just got feedback from the author stating that I can switch the location from the current one to any that I choose. I set the current location to where I’m at yet I get matches 20-50 miles away. No help and I feel that the developer doesn’t understand what I’m saying.

Got charged for trying the free “7 day trial,” on the first day of use. I never confirmed any purchase. Even though I’ve paid for a month of premium membership status, now, I am not getting to use those features.

From a lot of the negative reviews I still have DOWNHookupDate a chance. I have not experienced the same things others have, I actually got a couple of matches. The problem is that DOWNHookupDate has so many bugs and small things that do not make DOWNHookupDate functional.

For example anytime I like someone it doesn’t show where their location is, it shows my location. Not useful when trying to plan where to meet up.

Notifications from DOWNHookupDate literally come in 4 hours later. My matches lose interest because I was not notified they contacted me until way late.

Lastly DOWNHookupDate has a horrible interface. It is better than it’s previous interface but UX design is horrible.

The idea of having a different swipe for different interests is a good one, but that’s only nice if you can find people to match with in the first place

There were about 5 people the first day I used this, and 3 more on subsequent days, with the only way to increase this amount being to pay, and even then that’s advertised as getting 10x, which seems minimal relative to other apps.

The interface also makes it so that you pretty much just have a picture to go on, nothing else, and it doesn’t seem like there is any way to interact with others outside of swiping for a date/hookup.

Even though I really like the idea, DOWNHookupDate is just so bare bones I doubt it was worth downloading / setting up an account with in the first place

My favorite feature is being able to consider matching someone, while still viewing other profiles
