Suggestions

I bought the $10 plan. I've enjoyed it. Here's some suggestions:

1. When I open a table (say countries of the world and their populations) the back button is at the top of the screen. Then to go back to the last article the back button is at the bottom of the screen. They should be the same, or better yet there shouldn't be buttons, see #2.

2. Swipe left and right should be forward and back like in safari. That way I can confidently click on links and get back to where I was. The menu/search can be accessed from the menu button, or a dedicated search gesture perhaps.

3. Going back should go back to the same location in the article you clicked away from, not the top of the article.

4. The image placeholders are kind of ugly. That's nitpicky I know.

5. The search page should start with the box in the middle of the screen, like the google app so I don't have to reach my thumb all the way up to set the cursor.

6. Random page or suggested page would be nice. I open Minipedia when I'm bored then I have to think of somethign to search for.

Thanks!

English XXL Updated October 2015

In case anyone's curious about how up to date this is, the English XXL dataset updated just this past October. It's not in the release notes because they don't need to release a new version with a simple dataset update. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have a notification for when an update is released for those that have already purchased it. So, if you've already got it on your device, delete and re-download. Lots of new stuff (3.2GB vs the previous 2.8GB)!

This works perfect for me...

I spend a lot of time off of the grid but I also enjoy having information available to ease my curiosities. I paid for the XXL pack and I am very happy with it. I have had other offline wikis and their overall organization was slack. This one feels like I am online and has imbedded links to other articles as well. Check out the free packs first, if you like it buy the bigger packs. So far, I have not stumped the XXL pack yet.

Amazing

Ever since watching hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, I've always dreamt of being able to download Wikipedia onto my iPhone. Now that I have an iPhone 6, with lots of extra memory, this was one of the first applications I downloaded. I was not disappointed. All of the articles, all of the details, all of the content on the tiny issues of knowledge that are available in Wikipedia, are now available on my iPhone. I couldn't be more happy.

Offer an option to keep it current?

I believe that there is a market for this app users to have the option of subscribing to regular updates to keep it current, rather than just have it as a snapshot in time from when it was purchased. Please advise if this can be or becomes an option.

Review

Just downloaded yesterday and have already gotten valuable info on Art/Artists of the Renaissance Period! Also noticed that support does not seem to be available at this time. The long d/l was worth it; I purchased the XL Edition for only $5.95.

Internet without an internet connection

It's great to have all this information when I don't have a connection, (I have an iPod). I bought the ten dollar encyclopedia, with that version if you type in a word you are very likely to get multiple results (entries with that word in the title).

Out of Date Wikipedia

I paid for the Bookworm XXL version of the offline Wikipedia and it’s at least year old because there’s nothing about the current Pandemic which started a year ago. When one can use Kiwix to download the entire current Wikipedia, I’d least expect this app to be more current than a year old and in fact, this app should improve to note the date of their database while keeping it as current as possible.

The best app

Minipedia is great because I bon,t have a SIM card, and every time time I want to search something and I bon’t have internet I have to ask my friends, if I can search it up on there phones and thanks to Minipedia I bon’t have to do that. thank you for this wonderful app.

Perfect for us

My son likes to look things up on his phone, but I didn't want to give him full browser access for Wikipedia. The free version has enough material for him to read, and as also works on airplanes when we're off network.

No support contact to be found!

Bought the In-App English (XL) in Dec 2012, the offline reference database stopped working after sometime. I kept postponing in contacting them about it until now. I searched for their support e-mail address on their website given here but couldn’t find it there. I’ve contacted Apple support about it and they couldn’t help me either. App worked ok when it did but it’s appalling to me to know that these guys have been actively selling Minipedia with no support info.

Minipedia is wonderful

I use Wikipedia all the time, so Minipedia is a great way to do so without using too much data. Thank you so much for making Minipedia; I use it all the time!

I would greatly appreciate if this was scaled for the iPhone 6 and 6+

Pretty great!

I've missed having this app for some time now, and the new version is better. Thanks for trimming the gargantuan Wikipedia and giving us short (free) or longer (paid) versions of the most complete encyclopedia on earth, WITHOUT AN INTERNET CONNECTION.

Continued Support and updates make it worth it!!

They continue to make it possible to get Wikipedia offline and take the tule to update info. Very well done!

works well

Works well. Search only searches titles, not article text. (Once in article, can search within it). Display of math formulas a big plus.

Recommended for those who knowledge

Well worth the investment if you value off-line immediate access to the Wiki storehouse of human knowledge. When debating a friend, you’ve got the goods to win your argument hands down with this wiki app, Cordially, Stan R.

Great

Find What u dont know

Great app, but

It’s stupid how you have to pay extra to save additional Wikipedia pages. If it’s all being saved to my device anyways, then why not let me pick and choose how many pages I want to save? And why is that option locked behind a paywall. It’s just pathetic honestly

By

Lack of updates & no support!

They haven't updated their app in a long time. That frustrates me, since I paid the full price for Minipedia, only to find out that many wiki articles are from years ago, and not up-to-date. Many articles are also missing a lot of information.

Please update Minipedia ! Don't neglect your child!!

Great resource

Download once, read many times! This is very handy traveling... And most any time. It's all already on my phone! Thanks!
