Flawed app, and dishonest customer service.

I travel 100 days a year, and tried TheFork on a recent trip to Mallorca. On one occasion these bozos confirmed a reservation at a restaurant that was closed, ruining our evening. Blamed it on the restaurant, tried to bribe me with “Yums”. On another TheFork converted a reservation for 2 into 20, created a huge problem. I get there and the restaurant expects me to pay $1000 for this app’s blunder. On another, the email confirmation says this app will bill me 1euro if I don’t go to the restaurant, then they fraudulently tried to bill my card 100euro, though I ate at the restaurant, and sent them a copy of my bill. These guys have a amateur app, sure, but their slimy business practices are the bigger problem.

Two bad experiences in one week

If it would work well then the fork app is a great concept but I would most certainly not rely on it (I personally already deleted it). I reserved a restaurant through it and when I arrived at the time my reservation was set in TheFork , the kitchen and restaurant was closed. The owners apologized and said they’ve been having constant trouble with TheFork and will discontinue their partnership asap. Second bad experience was a restaurant that you need months of anticipation to reserve in and I did it via the fork. The day of my reservation, without notification and without me clicking a thing, it appeared to be “cancelled”. I couldn’t reserve again since there was no space and no explanation or response to my complaints were received. Furthermore, their offer of restaurants listed is definitely not the best in any city I’ve used it in. Don’t use TheFork, don’ trust TheFork.

The app and the website needs a huge improvement

Little things. Suppose I want a Paella place on Madrid. Finding it on TheFork or the website is very hard. On the site, if you choose a city Madrid and then enter Paella in the type of cuisine you get places in Paris and Milan! On TheFork , there’s just no way to filter on a somewhat vague a thing like this.

Then, for most restaurants you don’t see the full menu. So, if you see an offer and you click for more details you get to see barely anything to decide.

Unreliable outside US

I attempted twice to make reservations outside the US and both times the reservation was not available at the time reserved. The first attempt, even the the booking was “confirmed,” the waitstaff informed us that we needed to call them to confirm the booking... in other words, it was NOT confirmed. The second time, I made a reservation that was “confirmed” for 6:00 pm. We show up to the restaurant (after a bit of challenge, because the name and address didn’t match the restaurant), and find out that it doesn’t open until 7:00 pm! I doubt I will use The Fork in the future for reservations, as the service doesn’t actually do what is is supposed to... RESERVE a table!

Bookings are easy with TheFork - would be good if they told you to set up an account versus signing in on Facebook. Wouldn’t show my bookings until I created an account for some reason.

Looking forward to the trip/restaurants and will review again after!

Warning: Check your reservations!

We made a reservation through The Fork at a fine restaurant and received multiple confirmations from The Fork only to arrive for our Easter Sunday lunch and find that the restaurant had no record of our reservation. The restaurant told us they often have Fork make reservations when they actually have no space. A real bummer. Just because Fork says you have a resi doesn’t mean you actually do. Caveat emptor

Endless robot detection - solved

When I try to use TheFork , with or without iCloud private relay, on WiFi or LTE, it always shows the CAPTCHA. I solved it ten times, no success. And it has been like that for days.

Reached the support via mail (the form in the captcha doesn’t work), they suggested to delete and reinstall TheFork which solved the issue.

Simply amazing!

La Salvaora’s proprietor Jaime Romero offers his patrons a Michelin experience with a very personalized touch for a fraction of the cost. The attention to detail that is put into the selection of dishes with fresh local seafood and produce is impressive.

The extensive wine list also has an excellent variety to choose from.

This cozy restaurant’s decor allows us to step into an homage of flamenco singers past and present with a sense of elegant simplicity.

If you want an excellent meal in the heart of the Carmen neighborhood without paying a fortune, La Salvaora most definitely is the place to go!

Number of guests

I do not understand why offers change with the number of guests. Considering that one can make multiple bookings to overcome this problem, there’s no reason to put this limitation, it only annoys

Must have for your trip abroad

Downloaded for our Paris trip and have LOVED TheFork. Used almost every night to explore and find all kinds of food options no matter what part of town we were in.

Great Service

I travel a lot throughout Europe. Most decent restaurants require a reservation. Using the Fork means I don’t have to call and try to reserve using my horrible Italian, French, or Spanish. Plus, there is often a discount. App works great and is easy to use.

Can you stop spam push notifications ?

I love TheFork but your incessant push notifications are annoying
Push notifications is for important messages (reservations etc), not for promos !

Amazing Radda Restaurant

Chef Simon is the star of this family owned and operated establishment. The dishes are well presented and feature ingredients from his garden. I’m embarrassed to say I’ve created in the Radda area many times. La Loggia is now at the top of my short list.

Fabulous source of information

TheFork identifies highly rated restaurants in your area with informative reviews and an occasional substantial discount. Of course, it reserves the restaurant you select and checks up to make sure you get the discount.

No customer support when discount not honored

Don’t use TheFork if booking a discounted reservation. If the restaurant doesn’t honor it, TheFork won’t respond. I have tried their live chat — funny, I am always number 2 in line — and I stay in that position for hours. I have sent 4 emails with pictures of my receipt and gotten no response even though they promise a response in 48 hours. Simply no follow through or customer service. Stay away.

Wonderful experience

We had a wonderful dinning experience at toro 777, we received warmly welcome from the hosts, all dishes were well prepared, flavorful and tasty. We loved the bread basket-super delicious. The place was cozy, clean. Highly recommend and we definitely will be back!

Very useful app

When we are traveling and do not speak the language fluently, using TheFork to make dinner reservations is much easier (and cheaper) than making a phone call.

A wonderful night, great food, romantic

Our dinner at Zinbar was fantastic. Amazing flavors, dishes we had never tried before. Very chic restaurant with cool music playing and superb service.

A really special dinner for our first night in lovely Barcelona!

Pathetic

For such a big company they can’t get basic functionality to work. I reserve often and the pay function doesn’t work. Feels like a scam to get you to do something then they don’t perform like promised. Wish some state attorney general would investigate them!! They are fraudulently baiting and switching customers. I wonder how they sleep at night. But Silicon Valley is full of such shallow fraudsters.

Unreliable based on my experience

My wife and i made a reservation with Fork and we’re amazed at how quickly we got a confirmation of our reservation. We took a cab to the restaurant on our last day of vacation to find ourselves stranded in the rain with the restaurant closed.

Not sure how they confirmed our reservation but seems as though there is room for some major improvements. Will never use again.
