Leo’s website is an amazing tool for German learners. It has an excellent dictionary and a super helpful Trainer tool that lets you efficiently record and classify each word you look up, and then practice these words with different exercise methods.
LEOdictionary is also great! But it doesn’t have all the exercise methods of the Trainer that the website has.
Please improve LEOdictionary to make it even more helpful! Right now LEOdictionary ’s Trainer has only the flashcard and drag-and-drop features. It would be an app that I would recommend to everyone if it had all the other Trainer features that the website has.

LEOdictionary is very helpful for looking up words and creating personal vocabulary lists. However, there appears to be no way to edit your lists once you’ve created one. For example, if you want to remove a word from a list or even your master list, it’s not possible. You can continue to add words indefinitely, but you can’t remove them or move them from once list to another. This is a big drawback.

I‘m studying in a University in Germany and part of that includes learning advanced German. The best thing about LEO is that it gives you many possible meanings of words, not just the most common usage. For the quality of the content, they certainly deserve to be supported by the small annual subscription amount which you can decide whether to pay or not. They don’t cripple LEOdictionary if you don’t subscribe like many other language apps. While it’s true you can use their website on a smartphone, LEOdictionary interface is much easier to navigate.

I’m in German at my high school and my teacher always tells us to use Leo if we don’t know a word, because 9 times out of 10 Leo is right about a words meaning, than our book. Overall I love both LEOdictionary and a website, the only thing is is that the website puts a lot more emphasis on the best meaning by sort of putting off to the side in a big box. But in LEOdictionary the best meaning is less clear, other than it is at the top of the page. Overall I think the devs in Munich did a great job

After trying several dictionary apps I’ve gotten to love Leo’s simplicity and user friendliness. I’ve now been using it daily for about a month and have been very happy with it. After being a bit confused about the way the words get saved in the Trainer list I contacted support and they immediately got back to me with the explanation I needed. Awesome customer service! Thanks a lot again! You’ve earned a permanent user :)

It is good if you just need to quickly translate something, but if you want a dictionary to learn German or do more formal translating, it is not the best tool... It often give multiple synonyms which do not ever have the same meaning as the German word being looked ( and vice versa). The links to verb conjugations is also useful

The new interface makes it hard to see page organizational layout as a whole.
At least give the user a choice in Settings as to how they can view the page—rather than forcing everyone to use something new that may not personally suit them.
How about bettering the functionality of LEOdictionary instead—like adding a back button and history list?

Love love love your app. Please (!) make it a development priority to add the functionality to add words to personal learning lists via LEOdictionary . Currently only possible via web page access, not LEOdictionary . Thanks!!

I use my Leo’s German Dictionary frequently to e-mail relations in Germany. I rely on Leo’s. It is excellent in translations and has many clear examples. I recommend it to anyone seeking to find words in German or English!

I’ve been using this since it was just a website my phone could access. I like that it’s simple and quick. It gives you idioms as well.

The extensive definitions of words in context and in common expressions makes LEO especially useful for translation. What isn’t covered in the dictionary itself comes from usage discussions.

The words are not be deleted or edited.
When I create a wordlist and enter many words I can not edit it any more.
For ever I have to use it.

A necessity. I just really wish there was the option to download the dictionary to have access when there is no WiFi while traveling.

Still using LEO since my HS German teacher recommended it to me in 2000 before we had apps. I still love LEO and use it almost every day for vocabulary building.

Can you do split screen?? I really need that function!

As a German living in the US for almost 25 years, this is the only dictionary I use. Very little overhead and great results.

The best app I ever used. Coming from someone that downloaded nearly 70% of dictionaries in appstore. Good job!

The flashing ads are a nightmare. I don’t even have add or any classification which would make me more susceptible to that kind of distraction. Can I just read what’s on this page without the circus act at the bottom screaming at my eyes? Thanks.

I teach English and I wish I could find a translator app just like this for my students.
Ausgezeichnet!

A fast dictionary with easily identifiable and pertinent definitions, as well as supplementary grammar information which is organized in a way as to keep the form low profile and efficient. The ability to add terms to a personal list for vocabulary training is a huge plus. For example, working through your lessons during the day and adding terms to your list as you look up definitions, and reviewing them later that evening. Down one star from 5/5 due to the vocabulary list not being synchronized between my iPhone and chrome web session.

A very useful quick dictionary with a few reservations. I use it for German to English and it's usually very accurate, but often gives too many synonyms - I'm a native English speaker and have travelled extensively. Although the first translation will be correct there are often other "English" word translations that I have never heard and sound wrong. Maybe they exist but I doubt it as there is no explanation of the etymology (eg: "African English" or "Irish variant"). They are just given - like someone thinks it's a correct answer so just puts it up there.
