Always Updated & Reliable!

ShopSavvy has helped me by saving money on every day items and weekly/monthly items that I abut regularly.
I was spending monthly about 100$ on cat litter until they showed me a price comparison for a website instead of in store and it came with a ton of perks! Thank you for your hard work & consistency with keeping up to date sale price and the distance all offers in store are from my location at any given time!
Just a suggestion to get some more traffic and downloads as I am always sharing your App with friends with the same interests and “this app” money saving needs like me! You should come up with a referral system that would be fitting for those of us who are always looking for the best prices and can share feedback on the validity as well as experience within our reviews with certain items and retailers!

Gave it a try after reading mixed reviews

After reading some really great reviews and more recently some really poor reviews. All of the poor reviews made reference to a recent change of owners and/or updates, as the downfall of what early on seemed to be a really useful app.
So I was cautiously optimistic when I decided to give it a try and downloaded ShopSavvy ...
Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed to find the negative reviews were all pretty much spot on. When searching a product by name or scanning a barcode, there was long wait times 30sec-1min or more to get results. With the results being mostly online retailer’s. Even when testing a common product found at Walmart/Target the results were not reliable.

There was also what seemed to be an excessive amount of adds compared to other free or non-premium versions of apps. And the adds wouldn’t even bother me so much if ShopSavvy was functioning as described in ShopSavvy Store.

Unfortunately I have to give 1 star due to ShopSavvy not having any real usable functionality.

I had the same results when trying out ShopSavvy on my iPhone 11, on my iPhone Xr(work phone), and also on my partner’s Samsung Galaxy s10.

My go-to scanner for shopping

I love ShopSavvy! Anytime I like something I see and want to know where I can I buy it or for how much, just open ShopSavvy and scan the barcode. Done! It’s so easy, very fast, and tackles a lot of headaches at Christmas time with having 4 kids and gifts galore! Need to know where an item came from to return it? Scan it with ShopSavvy! Want to know how much something may cost? Or maybe where else you can buy it or if other stores prices are better?!?! Scan it, search for it, use ShopSavvy!

Too many ads and doesn’t show all stores like it used to

(Update: Miss when it use to give ALL stores like major department and beauty stores. Now just gives a lot of online outlet/wholesale retailers. When I search Macy’s or Sephora, it will still have the product, even though it doesn’t show up on the list after scanning.)

I loved when it was ad- free. And although I understand the need for them, the amount of ads is now excessive. And slows down the function of ShopSavvy . I can google the product by upc by the time I’m done with a 30 second ad after every single scan. I’ve been using this scanner for quick use for my business for a while, but i’ve definitely been looking for a new app lately.

Good But Pro Feature Doesn’t Work

I purchased the monthly pro subscription to disable the annoying advertisements. Unfortunately the ads continue to display across the Search, Saved, and More tabs. I emailed support but haven’t heard anything in 3 days. I’d gladly pay the sub fee if it would work properly but I will probably have to seek a refund because the developer support has not been responsive. Overall, ShopSavvy is good but does have some bugs. Sometimes when going to saved and researching items the search gets stuck on the initial phase and doesn’t return results. Closing out of ShopSavvy and doing the steps again usually fixes the issue.

Used to love, now not so much

I have had ShopSavvy for a few years and every year it provides less and less. Used to love using it when I was out shopping to compare prices...now it won’t show me any local stores. The only results I see are online. I can be standing in Walmart, target or Lowe’s and scan an item and it will show me items online only. Frustrating and a waste of my time. Due to this...I don’t use ShopSavvy anymore. Plan on removing it unless somehow the developers surprise me and fix the issues I have and many others have stated in their reviews. I will be looking at others out there.

Boo

Two hours after download and I’m already lacking an ounce more of patience waiting for product results after I’ve used ShopSavvy to search for a product. Almost completely defeats one of the sole reasons that ShopSavvy exists. I’ve tried searching for 2 different products at 2 different times and have tried both with WiFi & with cellular data. In each situation the this app screen stayed on the “searching” screen for so long that I eventually closed ShopSavvy with fury (and still no results). Such a waste of time & energy invested in searching for an app and trying to use this one. 🙄

Wish I could use it

I have an iPhone11 and can not use ShopSavvy because it won’t let me add it to my camera permissions. It comes up on ShopSavvy and I click “enable barcode scanning” but it just turns opaque for a second and doesn’t actually do anything. Same thing for location services. I tried doing it manually going into Settings > Privacy > Camera but ShopSavvy still does not show in those settings. Really would like to use this if you can figure out how to fix it I will surely change my review

By

One small change would be a 5

actually shows you what you scanned. So many apps can not find the barcode or to see it you must upgrade after downloading ShopSavvy and scanning the item.
Good thing: After scanning the item it shows you the stores that carry it and prices so you can compare.

By

Unfortunately ShopSavvy has been ruined...

this app used to be one of the absolute best (if not thee best) barcode price scanner Apps available! Unfortunately, after the original creator(s) moved on/sold ShopSavvy , this app has gone severely down hill in recent years due to “someone” adding adware bloat & a painfully inefficient slow and overly bulky search experience - RIP this app :’(

A faithful user! Go for it!

What happened ???

Honestly. This used to be the best app. For the past few months, it has gotten worse on every update. I dont get results on most of the items i scan. And now the font is black in dark mode. I cant even see anything. Please go back to what it was a year ago. Otherwise i have to find another app to use.

By

What happened?????

ShopSavvy used to give the lowest price on items and I don’t k ow what happened!
But it doesn’t work that way anymore! I often find the same products lower on price than what ShopSavvy finds.
The way I see it you were purchased by a company that doesn’t believe in doing that anymore. They must’ve changed the algaeythum ( spelling bad) to make it only show a couple of prices and Walmart is always on the list near the top and they aren’t the lowest price on the items. What changed that ShopSavvy is now geared to these big box retailers that are more costly than other vendors!!
Please, fix ShopSavvy I used to love it now it’s just like doing a google search with the exception that it doesn’t show the lowest cost prices for the items.
Thank You...
RC

Wants to install Google, grab location data, didn’t work well for me

Thought this might be helpful, but was not. Wanted to download Google app first, bu why? If that’s how it works, or there’s some reliance on Google, why use ShopSavvy? Not well explained. Then it wanted my location….okay, no. If ShopSavvy found results and wanted to narrow results, I might have obliged. But, tell me why you need it and that you’re not going to use it against me somehow (spam me). In the end, it found nothing.

Dark mode issue

ShopSavvy doesn’t show text on iPhone dark mode. There isn’t any setting in that app where you can turn off dark mode specifically to the ShopSavy app.

By

The app doesn’t work

App keep browsing looking for a price and doesn’t show you the comparison. They charged me already and couldn’t even use it.

By

Awesome app

Very functional nice interface saving me a lot of time between going to each proprietary site when you can do most of the work in one spot

By

App need some serious work

Had to revert back to free version because ShopSavvy is not working like before not finding prices etc

By

Latest update camera access issue

Home page directs me to go to settings>privacy >allow camera

App doesn't show under Camera. When I select "Go to Settings" it doesn't appear to be an option there. This is on iPhone 11. Thank you!

By

Only missing coupon codes

The new updates is awesome!

I love the browser extension, widget, and price drop alerts. This is easily the best price comparison app out there.

The only thing I wish it had was the ability to automatically add coupon codes for specific retailers when you tap to go purchase an item.

Apps like Honey have that feature and it helps you save even more.

By

Bad

It’s not showing me any of the local stores like Hannaford and market 32.
Pretty worthless unfortunately!
If there is a way to get it to work correctly please let me know.

The app used to work beautifully now it always crashes when I scan a barcode

!MUST HAVE! GREAT APP :)))

Great app that I use ALL the time--almost every day!!!
* that being said, following is my only critique.... I am sharing it, but please don't take it as any huge negative**** I absolutely feel this is a MUST HAVE for anyone that has to buy anything at anytime :)***
I digress....
Have had only one problem, and maybe it's with my phone (iPhone 6+)? Issue with looking at the reviews for the items. If I do get reviews to come up on one item, then I can't open reviews on any other items I search. Austin even will not give me any reviews on any items. Even if it shows those items have reviews.... Though I really, really wish this feature worked for me, I still think it's a GREAT app and glad I found it!
Am looking forward to the day it gets worked out.... Glad I found

What Happened?

Before Christmas I could search for an item and it gave me the cheapest first now that is no longer an option and to find say office chairs I have to search furniture and weed through a bunch of other items I don't want. What a waste of time! You made this ap great for businesses who are trying to sell more expensive products and totally anti customer service friendly. Please fix it or I am going to delete the ap and conduct my own search on the Internet only going to those stores around me. Honestly you had a good thing going and got greedy. It was nice looking at the other items if I couldn't find what I was looking for or wanted a better product in my free time but now I don't even bother looking there first because it isn't working for me the rest of the time when I don't have days to search for something. And the reviews on products are not working right either for the same reason I suspect. Retailers realize they are getting stuck with bad product because people are sharing their opinion. To which all I have to say is don't inventory bad product if that is the case. Don't block reviews. Your killing your ap.

New version STILL requires you login w/Facebook or create a new account which for me = 1 star

Still gets 1 star since I cant give it 0 stars. APP & Developer STILL require you to create an account with the latest update. And is it just me or is the Developer CLEARLY PADDING their reviews?! They have 30+ 5-star ratings on the new version after it was JUST released a few hours ago. Please tell me someone else finds this ODD and honestly completely UNETHICAL. Great product BEFORE requiring the login. Remove this mandatory login and you will have your loyal user back. Remove the login and you can keep tracking the miscellaneous crap that I look up. I think people would have been ok if you had asked for location data instead of creating an account. No one wants to give out that much detail on their life, especially when it comes to Facebook. Why would would you be interested in knowing who my friends are? Im pretty sure my friends don't know the developer of ShopSavvy . Tracking my usage, don't track my friends or personal info under the guise of making the product better and removing a mostly nonexistent spam problem. -- Thanks for letting me vent.

Hmm..Price Scanner for My Identity??

We all love the word free! And we instantly choose it, if we're displeased..so what..it was free right?
But if their not making $ off ShopSavvy then how r they making $?? My collecting your personal information; email, phone #,web history, and I really hope you didn't purchase anything. They sell this info to make money and make their business go. And go ahead and try to officially take back all of YOUR info from them lol because by using ShopSavvy you r agreeing to them having the power to retain your info forever and make as much off you as they can. And it's really sad but this is how many companies get rich. Aren't u tired of being a consumer and referenced to as basically cattle? All behind a blind eye. Read the Agreement and the Privacy Policy..if you an find it. We need to come together as people and take back what is ours. Another sad thing, majority of u won't. Because you dnt feel effected directly and work is busy. Well I know what I stand for and what companies like this and many many others do with our personal data, and the funny thing is...we pay them!! draw the line.

Just doesn't work

I tried to input scans at a couple local stores yesterday and first, there is no "store look up" so you have to type the names of stores. Of course it doesn't ask for an address and it doesn't look that up, either. There are probably 30 of the same (grocery) stores in this city and likely they have different prices. on top of that, every single time I scanned something new, I had to type in the name of the store, it never filled in automatically. How many times do you think I'm going to do that standing in a grocery store? It also did not save product photos that I took and we I rescanned items today took check, the prices and stores I added were gone! Finally, half the items I tried to scan today, standing in my well-lit kitchen would not scan! The image was totally clear, not moving, lots of light and the "auto" scan would not initiate. So, doesn't auto-scan reliably, doesn't save new stores and their locations and doesn't save the prices or photos that you've worked to scan. FYI, using a brand new iPhone 4s, maybe compatibility issues?

Fantastic idea, has potential, but...

I imagine this would be absolutely super if you live somewhere where completing stores are close to one another and if it were also an area with lots of savvy shopper folk contributing to the price lists. But where I live, there aren't enough prices to compare, and when I do drive 7 miles to buy the product $2 cheaper, it often turns out that the price I drove all that way for is not only not the price listed, it is more than the price at the first store. I assume the prices fluctuate so either ShopSavvy needs to add a date a given price was entered, or it needs some other way to tell consumers whether the stated price is still good. It has saved me from buying lots of things, and has helped me get a better idea of what is cheapest where. With more contributing the number of errors or changed prices would be reduced.

impressive!

I've been scanning everything in my house; so far, it's about 80% accurate with a scan time ranging from 2 to 15 seconds (but mostly in the 2 to 8 second range). It works especially well with books. I've had a problem with some barcodes that are on a curved surface--like on a bottle of vitamins. The price information seems pretty reliable. I like being able to compare websites and local stores, though sometimes the local store prices seem off (especially with Meijer, for some reason). I was surprised at how many random products--like toliet bowl cleaner--have been customer reviewed. Bottom line: ShopSavvy is surprisingly reliable...and, best of all, free! I think it will only get better as more people begin using it and posting reviews.

Intrusive to your privacy

I find it unfortunate that I have to write this review, as ShopSavvy worked fairly well before the update. It might be working fine now, but I will never know because the update added a requirement to log in, either by handing over your Facebook credentials or creating the equivalent directly with ShopSavvy . That includes a photograph, by the way. Having been the victim of identity theft in the past, I will not hand over any personal information unless I have to. And I found out the hard way that "faking" personal info doesn't always protect you. Logging in still allows a record to be built that tracks where and when you scan anything, and so the more you use it the more vulnerable you are. Alas! If you don't think that protecting your personal info is worth the sacrifice, I recommend you reconsider. You have no idea just how small this sacrifice will seem when someone gets ahold of your credit and your bank account.

This application is going to save a lot of time.

I have not used this application for very long, but on the other hand its creator seems very interested in having it reviewed. So. It seems fast, accurate, and (in several tests I have run) might well save several hours in comparative shopping trips for expensive items. I have not observed any down side, although I suppose it might be tracking things that you search for. I like it. I would like it even better if I were able to enter a product name for it to search--its "suggestions" are too generic and clunky to be useful. Also, once a review is written, it would be nice if ShopSavvy would leave you alone. But it doesn't.

Can't see the full item image

ShopSavvy is nice because it allows you to search for the items you are looking for by description, not just a barcode scanning app.
As of now there are 2 main problems I am having w/ ShopSavvy . 1) it has crashed multiple times when going from a product detail back to the search results page. 2) ShopSavvy is not allowing me to view the item in full. The tabs displaying # of online & stores found having the item and reviews available are not "hiding" as the are supposed to when you swipe upward over the product image. This is very very frustrating! All I want to do is view the full product image so I know if I even want to continue on to the retailers site. Bc then once I've gone to the retailers site I risk having ShopSavvy crash as I return to the search results....1/2 the time I end up searching w/ safari as I did before.

Finally a Good Version

Version 1.3.0
This actually works now. Looks like they finally improved the scanning so slight hand shake is no longer a problem on my 3GS. Upping this to 4 starts.

Version 1.1.1
Still not having much success with ShopSavvy so I'm lowering my rating 1 star. The biggest problem I still have with this product is that if there is any shake while grabbing a UPC it can't handle it. You get colored UI telling you when you've got a recognizable barcode, but you have to hold it for several seconds while it processes/uploads the data. If you move at all, it loses the scan. Very Frustrating. I wish that when it recognized a good scan it actually took a picture and used that. If this isn't addressed in the next version, it's coming off my phone.

Previous Review:
Works fairly well, so far it's recognized most of the stuff I've tried. I've only found two problems so far. If you don't hold it really steady, it may not grab the image (and I mean REALLY steady). Guess that's why they had it on a tripod in the demo video. And while you're trying to hold your hand still, you can't tell what it's doing, at first I thought it didn't even work, but then I realized it didn't like any movement. Some kind of feedback would be nice.

Shame (Read this review)

Forced logun via Facebook or creat app account. Terms of use and privacy policy make it clear this company is about tracking, profiling and targeting you uniquely. Or as they describe it- they are identifying your device uniquely, not you. Except for the forced picture of yourself, voice prints if you use voice commands, gps location, etc. They associate all if the data they collect both directly from you and on their own to basically guarantee your identity uniquely in their systems. And by the way its your responsibility to check their webpage about every two weeks and remove ShopSavvy if you dont agree with what they decide to do because they could change the policy at any time and you fully agree and release the company and anyone related to it from any legal recourse for anything related to anything ShopSavvy might do by continued use. Gotta delete thus and run for the hills. I really liked ShopSavvy the last couple of years, but not worth my soul or my privacy. Shame.

Ridiculously useful.

"I don't use it much for scanning and comparison, but the search function is fantastic! By simply typing in a product(ANY product on earth besides weed, cocaine, hookers and inregistered firearms), I can see a list of nearby stores who have it, and I can see their prices before even leaving the house. It has updated SKU for the store, so normally if they say it's there, it is. It includes online findings as well, so that I can just order it instead of wasting my time to go somewhere that sells it at a higher price. I know this is a scan app, but I really think they should advertise it with the Search function as the most useful feature."

This was my intended review for ShopSavvy a few years back. Well the updates have taken that search function away, and ShopSavvy crashes constantly on iphone 6. Not sure why I still have ShopSavvy to be honest, I haven't been able to use it for about a year now. Disappointing. Zero stars.
