Ads make it worthless

GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker has a lot of decent features. The interface is cluttered to the point it’s hard to use and hard to find things. The reporting aspect of GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker is poorly done, and that’s the most important part. In the free version, the ads after a day become so obnoxious that it’s fundamentally unusable. Full screen ads with the volume forced to 100% that offends everyone in the room. If you purchase GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker you are funding a company that cares about monetizing GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker far more than providing a good user experience. A premium subscription is VERY expensive, and honestly provides only a few real benefits, outside of removing the ads. I will look at EVERY alternative in GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker Store before I feed this marketing tactic. There is a “plus” version with a one time app purchase that likely removes some ads, but there is no clear statement of any difference so the only way to know is to buy it and find out. If you read enough review responses, you will learn if you buy that version you simply get another nagging form of encouragement to buy the expensive subscription. What GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker provides is worth no where close to what the premium version provides.

This app was great

I loved GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker before they changed to the subscription model a few months back. There are so many things you used to be able to do that aren’t available, even small things like using a custom label instead of before/after a meal. And now in order to share your graphs with your doctor you can only go back two weeks and you have to print it out vs email it. It’s a real shame not to be able to afford an app that used to be an asset to my medical care. I would have been able to use GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker had there been a one time purchase price, but I can’t justify adding another monthly automatic charge just to log my glucose levels. I used to hype GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker to everyone I knew with diabetes. Even my doctor was impressed, although I had to explain what happened when I could no longer send her my full detailed data via the health portal. Now I tell everyone about GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker , explain how the developers forced a subscription model on users, and use it as an example of how patients suffer when profiting from their diseases becomes the goal. I wish I had never trusted this developer with my data. Now it’s locked away and I had to start over again with another app.

Not easy to use, weird ad blocking screen

I’m not sure how this has gotten such good reviews! From the very beginning, there was a lot of pressure to “upgrade“, with even a warning of it this will be the “only time” I can upgrade, with a full screen countdown clock? 10,9,8...what? Of course I said no, and it ends up that the features they were trying to get me to pay for, are already on GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker such as your A-1 C average level? I wanted to enter previous data from the last month but that became too difficult in GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker. When you are entering the information, they have a tag that you can say before breakfast or before lunch etc. but then they don’t have a separate area to add food. Even though I might be entering my fasting blood sugar level, they make you add the food on that page? So in that entry you have to look hard to understand that I ate that breakfast AFTER I took my level. Also after entering about four numbers, this ad began to block the view and then when you click the X to close it, it would open it. That happened a few times, and I quickly deleted GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker !!! Never had anything like this on an app!

I Used To Love This App

I have used Glucose Buddy for several years and loved it! It was so helpful to me, that I shared it with my diabetic health care team, in hopes they could let other patients no how it helped me. That is no longer the case! Version 5 of Glucose Buddy was released during the fall of 2017 and GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker (in my opinion) was ruined. First, the data entry screen no longer fits on the screen of my mobile device. Some of the selections are barely visible. Second are the incessant and annoying pop-up ads that make viewing GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker ’s screens very difficult. Finally are the high pressure ads to subscribe to the premium version of Glucose Buddy for a fee of $60 per year. Many of the most helpful features of Glucose Buddy are only available with a premium subscription, which I’m unwilling to pay. If you ignore the reviews of the pre-version 5 Glucose Buddy you can see the ratings drop from 4 & 5 stars to 1, 2 & 3 stars. (check for your self)
I can no longer recommend Glucose Buddy to others.

GB Improvements

Great App, simple and easy to use, great way to keep track of blood sugar readings in an easily understandably format. Plus can email results directly to Dr, cutting down on time consuming expensive visits. Only two things keeps it from a Five Star Rating, wish would add capability for two separate accounts, so could keep track of my wife's readings all in one App, and it's a small nitpicking thing, wish you would add another "Fasting" category with it's own color. My Dr is mainly interested in my "Fasting" readings, and I can only list "Out of Bed" or "Before Breakfast", which show up with the same colors as "Other" or "Before Meals", causing some confusion and time consuming research to separate them. Add those capabilities, and you've really got a winner.

OK but user interface is terrible

GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker is great overall. They use a data collection strategy to get users hooked on the practicality of the product. Then when you try to use advanced features or download the data you entered, you have to pay for it. So I guess that works pretty well for them...

Then there’s the user interface, with “features” such as clicking on one item (food) to enter some data, but SURPRISE, when you searched and clicked on hummus, you are now entering carbs for cereal bars. Note, this is what they call in developer land “a UI error to be fixed in beta testing”. But oh well, once you navigate around the other “nuances” the thing works pretty well I guess. Much better than comparable products, but please pay your dev team, QA their work and give them and the UX UI designers time to get it right.

Great app — no bugs

I’ve been using GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker for over a year and haven’t had any major issues with it. It’s stable and helpful. I do wish it provided more analytical data capability, but it is good for tracking carbs it even recognizes food when you take a picture. It has recognized every barcoded item I’ve tried and lets you reuse items you’ve already scanned and even input your own recipes. It can always use more enhancements like the data analyzing capability I mentioned and a better recipe building capability and salad or sandwich building capability.

Not happy

I decided to pay this high amount for GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker because it seemed to have everything I was looking for, including nutrition information like how much fat etc I consumed in my day besides the food diary.
Now GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker was updated and that feature gone. I can put in my nutrition goals but have no place to actually check if I reached them like it used to be. It now has the same features as other free apps and I feel like I’ve wasted my money.
The email system to reach support never works. No clue why, it has my correct email address. I am not sure how to cancel my subscription or get any help if I can’t get in touch. I’d not pay this amount again and regret I did now that important features to me are gone.

One Stop Shopping, Kinda

2 days in and great app so far. I’m a visual person so graphs and images resonate and sometimes inspire me.
I love Integrated tracking of medicine, blood pressure, nutrition (haven’t used this yet but awesome that it’s here), and exercise tracking.
I am disappointed that my 2 main activities are not listed; Crossfit and Martial Arts (specifically Filipino Martial Arts).
I am also disappointed that there is no way to integrate a heart rate monitor for real time tracking during exercise.
Otherwise this is one of the best apps for diabetes tracking I’ve seen. One stop health tracking is where it’s at! Keep up the awesome work.

People are funny - especially me!

I really like GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker. I loved the old insights and when it was updated I was mad. Couldn't stand the new insights. So they put the old one back because I’m guessing many others breathed fire and brimstone on the development team. Well now after reverting, I think I preferred the new interface! Maybe adding the older charting to the new interface as an extra would resolve many issues. I wonder how many people actually experienced this change. Anyway. Thumbs up to the development team.

Still Ads and No Support

Not even counting the limitations on adding meals. Paid for ad free version to use, one year. Constantly get a pop up asking me if I want to purchase GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker for a discount for a limited time that then disappears shortly after. Trying to add A1C to average, but apparently there is no support. When I try to access support from app it asks me to try something else for free it takes me to a sales force site where I can pay for something? Did they mess up a plug in for their app and it’s for their company or what happened? Try to access support from App Store and it takes me to a site saying it’s not found. Going to find alternative and cancel subscription.

TLDR - Still ads even though I paid for full version, only time I needed support in years and there is no help or support and site errors.

Glucose Buddy has made a difference in my life.

Over the last two years, I have been using the FreeStyle LibraLink sensor to check my blood sugar. I knew my blood sugar was out of control but did not know how to manage it. In February 2021, I discovered Glucose Buddy. This program has made a huge difference for me. When I started using it my A1 C was 6.6. It is now 6.3. Other benefits are that I have lost weight and my meds have been reduced. ..all from using Glucose Buddy. Overall, I feel so much better. Using this program is easy. It is life changing.

LOVE this App!

We recently went back to injections after being on a pump for 7 years. I had forgotten how much info there is to keep track of when you’re doing it without technology! We tried a different app and hated it. Love this one because of the reports, they help me see trends without having to use a CGM, that I can add all her different meds and track her glucose, carb intake, activity and insulin usage. The only thing that could possibly make this better would be if I could enter her ratios for figuring her insulin and correction factor.

Simple and well worth it

I have never written a review before for an app. I held out on paying for the upgraded price because $ you know, but it got a bit hard using multiple free apps to track health things. I tried several extensively and while others may look more fun, GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker does what I need it to do. It’s very easy using GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker to track the things I need. If I want to track more things it has the capability. I can track less if I want. I don’t like having to track but GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker makes it easier.

Difficult to receive support

I was initially excited to have GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker because it seemed to have it all! Exercise log, data sync, nutrition, weight management, etc. I was most excited to have the ability to sync my Dexcom! I made the premium purchase and.... have yet to have my Dexcom sync. I have tried several times and nothing each time. I attempted to find support for this issue. Stuff happens right? I attempted to get support through GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker and revive an error via that way and then tried via the website and am prompted to purchase or have two weeks free of another application in order to receive support for it. I have tried several times to receive support and I have not been able to do so. It has rendered the application and premium purchase completely useless to me.

There is a Big Difference Between Paying for Something of that is Well Made & Being Extorted

I couldn’t agree with MommaHippi more. GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker used to be something special. Something I would have paid for because it was worth it back then. But I wasn’t asked. I wasn’t warned. GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker was just suddenly changed, and I discovered that if I wanted my information I would be charged a substantially large fee for it. I’ve given the new app a chance, but find myself becoming upset when I try to use it. Now it’s just like all the other apps that do the same thing - but the interface is ugly and confusing. Developers do this to themselves and their customers a lot these days. It must be profitable. I’m going back to paper and pencil.

PS - I don’t recall my user name being “usually pretty frazzled”.

Feedback Review because Support Page “Not Found” through link

1. My steps do not sync with my watch and are off by over 1,200-1,500 everyday. The rest syncs perfectly.
2. Quick Add will not allow me to enter Carbs nor will it allow me to save without adding Carbs. For example I had black coffee that couldn’t be found in the Search. I opted for Quick Add and manually entered the information. It was 0 carbs per the info online (barcode unavailable). I entered 0. I went to save and an error popped up to enter carbs. I entered 0 again. Same message. I tried entering 1 to move on and it would not allow me to enter any number other than the 0 that was not accepted either.

Best app for diabetics! (Updated)

Update: 3/6/21
Current glitch, as of yesterday, is GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker is not allowing me to choose custom carb portions. I will, for example, scan a label in which a serving size is 18 carbs per ounce. But when I try to enter 2 ounces, the screen turns orange and I gave no way to enter it.
Other than that, no complaints and it has been serving me well for over a year.

This is the best app for diabetics! I’m a type 1 since age two and this has really helped me get a better handle on my glucoses. I log my carbs, my glucose readings, and can trace patterns in my habits to better improve my A1C.

Find something else

This would be a good app. I paid for the full version about a year ago. They made some improvements after making some errors. But STOP trying to sell me stuff. I paid for GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker !

The latest round of trying to sell me something with a button that sits in front of everything else and doesn’t go away and won’t allow you to simply reject their selling attempt is absolutely ridiculous. Not only is it annoying that it’s right in FYI t of you but it’s located right where your thumb would enter information so inadvertently you click it. THEN everyday it has a message asking if you want to continue reading!!
I didn’t want it in the first place and I’m so sick and tired of the annoying button I’m going to a different app.

Great App!!!

I started using GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker in February 2019. My A1C at the time was 8.6 and my proteins were over 600. I started tracking everything with GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker and A1C is 6.8, protein is at 30, and I have lost 30 pounds. I went from 55 units of insulin to 30. Saw my Dr yesterday and she said drop to 25 units. When I go to the Dr. she can see all me glucose readings for the month. I love that with a few clicks she can see blood pressure readings, steps, or anything else GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker tracks. I recommend GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker to everyone I meet with diabetes. It was well worth the money!!

Great App

Even if you are just using the free version of GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker there are a lot of options available. I've tried 3 other apps and none of them compare to those one. I like the product scanner for the food log in. It works great! Will be upgrading to the full version. The only comment I can make about the upgrade is that it would be nice to have a yearly renewal fee rather than have to pay full price again. Overall a great app!

More than I need or want

I’ve used GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker for quite awhile. It had a straightforward interface and feature set. The recent major upgrade of GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker brought with it a lot of additional features, a major overhaul of the UI and sharing functionalities. All I need is an app that lets me record my blood glucose. I can’t imagine why I would ever share that with anyone! I don’t find the new overcomplicated UI to be an improvement either. The continued pop-ups asked how I like GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker are really annoying, as are the overemphasized messages complaining that I don’t have location or sharing enabled. So, I’ve switched to an app that is simple and uncluttered with a swollen feature set. Sorry GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker got so “improved”.

Super Helpful

I love how easy it is to navigate and keep track of my blood suga sugar levels with GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker!!! Helps keep me on point I was diagnosed the day after Fathers Day with Type 2, Glucose Buddy was the top recommendation from Carl R. Darnall hospital on Fort Hood. It’s been extremely helpful in helping lower my blood sugar and stay on track. The best part of GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker is the Insights!!! I get to see my BG levels along with averages and even my activity levels!!!! Can’t say enough good about GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker!!!!

Not a useful app for the high price

Expensive subscription. Must pay to see what GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker really offers. Why pay if I don’t know what I am paying for? What I see in the free app sure isn’t encouraging.

No Fitbit integration. No iOS activity tracking either bc no settings to enable GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker to track motion or location - even though GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker displays a message telling me I need to enable these settings. Activity is critical to diabetes management. Do not pay for any app that doesn’t do this well.

Graphs are ok but not insightful. Then there’s the doozie of “they don’t get it”: a page that displays a number... 384. Ok, I figured out that it is the average of two diabetes meds (measured in mg) and two types of insulin (measured in standard insulin units, not mg)! Additionally, Oral meds and basal insulin doses change infrequently. Bolus is volatile, driven by carbs and that activity GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker cannot track. Ask your doctor what the average of these four numbers in unrelated units of measure tells you about your diabetes treatment...

Then delete GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker and look for a different one.

Love Glucose Buddy!

For now, I am only using the glucose recording function of GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker because I use another app that tracks everything else. I love that it keeps track of my averages for me. It keeps me in line better when I not only have to test my blood sugar, but then I have to enter it into glucose buddy – – makes it more realistic than just looking at the number on my meter and turning it off. I highly recommend getting GlucoseBuddyDiabetesTracker.
