Kiwi - music with your friends Reviews

So, I downloaded this app because a fried of mine wanted me to. But, when I tried to set up an account my keyboard to put in my phone number completely blocked the confirm button, which prevented me from pressing it. Eventually, I realized that if I switched to another app and then switched back to this app quickly I could have access to the button (which is very inconvenient and tedious). However, when I finally managed to move on and complete the last step to set it up, the button wasn’t even on my screen. I couldn’t scroll down or anything, so I wasn’t even able to use it either.

i really like Kiwi it’s very convenient when i want to send songs to my friends. i have not run into any problems yet with Kiwi, so everything is great :)

I really enjoyed using Kiwi at first to send & receive songs from friends.. but the recent update has it now formatted like a dating app where it plays a short section of a song & then you have to swipe right or left to indicate u either liked or disliked it. You can’t even easily listen to the whole song or look at a list of all the songs your friends sent you like you could before, so whereas before it could be used to discover new music, now it just exists to rate songs superficially after listening to only a few seconds of them… really not enjoyable for me anymore. I don’t even see the point of using Kiwi anymore if I can’t see all the songs my friends sent me.
If the developers are reading this, I understand that you guys were probably just trying to make it a more fun & streamlined experience or something, but you’ve kind of killed the appeal it used to have in the process. It used to feel like a way to connect with my friends over music & listen to new songs, now it just feels pointless. A lot of my friends who use Kiwi have said they felt the same way, some deleted it. I would recommend bringing some of the old features back, or just reverting it to how it was before altogether.

I have a bone to pick with Kiwi ( and developers)For the most part, Kiwi is fun. Sharing music is part of my love language and I love to introduce people to new things. Although I say all these positive there is one thing you need to fix, THE ENTIRE APP. The new update is not fun and super boring. Please bring the old rating back. Another problem I have is I usually get a notification when I get sent a song but then it mysteriously stopped notifying me?? I could be sent a song and I would look at it maybe TWO WEEKS LATER ( I also don’t check Kiwi itself because I hate it). Third, the profile pictures were maybe my favorite part because yay! Another app to spend 2 hours choosing the perfect icon! And just like the notifications, they didn’t pop up anymore and I could change the picture it just wouldn’t pop up!! And that brings me to fourth, I thought a simple deleting Kiwi and re downloading would work. I try to long back in, I put in my phone number and, IT. DOES. NOT. WORK. I thought I was just putting my phone number wrong but no! Kiwi just doesn’t work. If you could maybe fix these problems or the whole app. Or maybe just delete all of it while your at it! Thanks ! :)

I loved Kiwi so much and used it almost everyday to get new music from my friends and to share my songs of the day. The UI was simple and easy to navigate, but each update made Kiwi harder to use each time.

It wasn’t really a problem until they made Kiwi look like knock off tinder, ridding the option of rating songs on a scale and instead just gave you the option of “good” or “bad”. Besides getting rid of the best part of having a music score on your profile, Kiwi is straight up difficult to use and ugly to look at. I stopped using it once they implemented the dating app UI.

I never write reviews for apps but I have suggested this app to do many of my friends and we all had fun sharing our music in an easy and now I’m so sad it unusable now. This is more of a cry for help to bring Kiwi to its beginner stages, where it was easy to send and keep track of songs.

I like the concept, but it’s not super practical. There’s no way to see the songs you’ve liked, so by the time I’ve swiped a few times, I’ve already forgotten the title and artist of a song I thought was good.

It’s also a little overwhelming. I think there should be a cap on how many songs you can send, or maybe it should just be limited to the one song a day like BeReal. I like BeReal because there’s enough there for me to know what my friends are up to, but since it’s one picture per user once a day, it’s not overly stimulating.

On that note, I wish there was a way to edit your notification preferences. I don’t want to be notified every single time someone shares a song, and this especially adds to the overwhelming nature of Kiwi because people spam songs, and I’m constantly made aware of it.

I miss the old rating concept. A lot of my mutuals and i have expressed our dislike for the swiping left and right. It’s too vague because i don’t necessarily dislike a song but it’s not my favorite either. Rating was more efficient in my opinion.

Another huge thing that i greatly advise this app to bring back is the option to respond! You can write messages for songs but there is no way for someone else to respond directly back to the message like before. Also, when you write a message that’s a little longer there’s no way to read the full thing because it gets cut off.

this app was a really fun app before but the new updates have been very aggravating and even made some people leave Kiwi .

I just updated Kiwi and was absolutely disappointed to see the insane change to Kiwi . Swiping like a dating app is not fun for me or anyone I have talked to about it who also have Kiwi . The system before was perfect: you could see a list of what you received, what you have sent, and could rate each song on a scale from 0-100 and leave comments. Now you can no longer give a rating other than “good” or “bad” which is NOT how I like to rate the music I listen to. It is not specific enough. You also can no longer leave comments, which made the experience more fun. Overall, I’m sad and I don’t know if I want to use Kiwi anymore. It was so fun and I looked forward to sending and receiving songs every day, but now I don’t even want to get on Kiwi . I’m upset.

I really like the concept of Kiwi ! Its cool and I like sending songs that Ive been obsessed with to friends and having them send songs to me that I might reference later :) I got to reconnect with some family and hear what they like these days so I love it—I think it’d be nice to see what songs they like and dislike. I dont see the purpose of receiving the notification of like/dislike if I cant even see what they liked or disliked. Takes away from suggesting songs that I think they would like and it’d just be cool to see (hence 4 stars). But overall great app and Im gonna keep messing around with it 🙏🏼

I love the idea of Kiwi. i love seeing what my friends are listening to, but i wish there was a way to see which songs your friends liked. For example if you sent them multiple songs, as of right now there is no way to see which ones they liked or disliked. It would also be cool to have a comment section where you could respond to the songs your friends sent you. it would be great to hear which songs you have in common versus the ones they didn’t like as much and their reason for agreeing/disagreeing. i would love to see this implemented! I love the concept of Kiwi and some aspects of the execution but it has a few flaws to me. The first one isn’t too bad, I just wish it would send the reminder to send music at different times of day. It sends it at the same time every day. Secondly, the auto playing feature of the songs you are sent or decide to sent makes Kiwi very hard to use. It’s extremely frustrating to deal with. It’s extremely buggy and just disrupts the flow I have, and my friends have, with our music. I wish they would remove that auto play feature and give back the “open in ___ streaming service”.

This is a great concept, there are just a few changes that could be made to Kiwi that would make the experience a lot better.

First, in general Kiwi is pretty buggy. It crashes frequently and often doesn’t load my song library, so I have to close Kiwi and reload it until my songs pop up.

Second, I’m ok with only sending one song per person per day, but having it be after 24 hours can be confusing. Just today I got the notification that it was time to send my songs, but then it wouldn’t let me since it hadn’t been 24 hrs since I sent the pervious day’s songs. I know if I don’t send them when I get the notification, I’ll forget later on when 24 hrs has passed. I think it would be good to only do a 12am to 11:59pm window to send songs for the day, then it resets again at 12am so you don’t have to wait 24 hrs from the last time you sent a song to send another.

Again, I love this concept, but it could be put into practice a bit better.

I love Kiwi its amazing but the thing is I cannot see which songs my friends liked and disliked. I send out multiple songs and I get reviews but it will not show me which song they reviewed which keeps me thinking 😭 which song is it? I would like if you could change that but otherwise Kiwi is pretty cool!

But the new update makes me feel nauseous. Now it’s either bad or good but what if you like the song but kind of in the middle? There should be an option for you to skip it if you don’t want to rate it. But i have to rate it to get to the next option which angers me. I hope you change this please 🙏

I actually don’t mind Kiwi i just have a few things: 1. I think we should be able to send songs whenever (at least more than once a day). 2. I keep running into an issue where it says I have no friends but I can see what my friends have sent me so I obviously do have friends lol.. 3. I would love to be able to hear a snippet of the song my friends have sent me instead of having to go into my seperate music app to hear it. 4. I would also love to see what each song individually gets rated :). Needs some improvements but otherwise it’s pretty good!

The title explained it but Kiwi is really fun, I’ve always wanted an app like this which was social media but with music. My friends and I love it one suggestion would be to shorten the time limit. They are also super responsive on Instagram, I had a problem loading my profile and messages them on the off chance they would respond. In an hour they responded with troubleshooting tips. Great app great servuce

1. If it could be possible that we could see which songs the other person has liked and disliked! I think that would be a nice and very helpful feature 😊

2. If we could pick which part of the songs we’d like to share would also be great! Like how you can pick which part of the song you want to share on instagram

Again i think Kiwi is great and i always use it so adding these would definitely improve it 100% in my opinion

i looked at my profile and it shows i sent the same song multiple times in a random order or sometimes doesn’t show a song i recently sent. It also doesn’t show all the songs i sent in total it stops after the first like 20 when ik ive sent more than that. i love Kiwi otherwise and the recent update fixed a lot of things so hopefully this gets fixed soon too!!! :)

I love Kiwi! My friend sent it to me the other day and I already love sending my friends music. This is so fun because you can see your sent songs, and I’m so glad you can send them to all your friends at once as well! I think there should be an option where you and your friends can listen to a song at the same time. But overall, great app! 🤍🤍🤍

Fell in love with the concept of Kiwi and really enjoyed being able to share new music finds with friends. However, they keep changing the design of Kiwi every month or so and it becomes worse and less enjoyable to use every time. Also the widgets never work and just show a blank box. I’ve updated Kiwi , deleted it and redownloaded it many times and it doesn’t change. I’ve gradually become more disappointed over time. The simplicity of it is what drew me in at first but now it’s becoming complicated and weird to navigate.

i listen to some pretty alt music, and a wide variety of genres as well, i’ll be listening to Queen one second and the next song is $uicide Boys, and then Ghostemane and OmenXIII. my friend listens to pop rap (Kanye, Drake, Lil Uzi Vert) and we downloaded Kiwi. i couldn’t send my favorite songs bc i knew it’d end with horrible ratings, and same for my friend. it ended up just being a promotion of popular music, and i don’t really feel like changing my music taste for good ratings on an app. cool idea in concept, but i don’t think it’s good in practice. also Kiwi is very buggy, so there’s that too

the newest update is a huge step back. the auto play is awful and distracting. The removal of rating in favor of a like/dislike system makes the whole opinion system less interesting and invaluable. I rarely if ever want to “dislike” a song but would rather rate it lower in comparison to another song. Why couldn’t there be a 5-10 star rating? Or perhaps a rotten tomato-esque how “fresh” the rating is in terms of a rotting this app? Copying dating apps’ card style is unoriginal and boring. I loved Kiwi as a way to share music with friends and compare favorites but now I hate using it.

They should implement a past 30 days overall rating. I should also be able to see what each of my friends individually rated my songs. A DM feature or comment section for each song would be a great addition as well.
