I’ve been struggling for weeks to get my account closed or at least unlink my bank account from Gerald since I have not actually used the apps benefits. I’ve been charged a fee for the services and my account continues to be open. When I initially signed up I thought I would be using it but after encountering countless of technical errors and fallouts I knew that the hassle was not worth the the services provided, i. e very limited amount of services provided. Well what do you know? It’s almost impossible to do anything on Gerald without it force closing or crashing. Support is non existent. I have emailed the “support team” twice with weeks going by and no response. When you are in Gerald and try to reach out to chat support you get the same “unavailable” message. It’s almost like it’s done on purpose to prevent you from canceling. It’s probably been one of the most frustrating part of my week. Anyways, I’ve reached out to Apple, working hard to submit enough feedback to hopefully get Gerald removed from Gerald Store all together. I believe that Apple has a policy on ethical business practices & unfortunately Gerald does not align with that.

Gerald needs revamping, it’s unclear what you’ve been approved for with the overdraft since they approve you then suddenly you’re on the “overdraft waitlist”, and it’s also unclear when and how you pay it back. There’s no easy way to reach support and the moment they can’t pull your $9.99 subscription fee, your overdraft is revoked. Most companies tell the customer ahead of time when their subscription payment will renew, and you’re also given a few options to pay back what you’ve used from the overdraft. Gerald looks more like someone slapped it together and doesn’t care how it works or what the customer is aware of, and frankly for $60 in overdraft, a $9.99 subscription fee is a little steep. Pretty bad experience thus far.

I was seriously in need of like $50 to buy some groceries for my kids because I’m still a week away from payday. Not even once did Gerald ever show anything that described that what they give is an overdraft protection amount that can ONLY be used towards bills. You have to connect your bill providers. That is of no help to me. I paid the $9.99 to make my account premium to convert the $58 to cash but now it’s going to take up to 3-7 days for it to hit my account. So no help at all. Thanks a lot this app. I do not recommend this service at all.

I think this might be the first time I’ve ever written a bad review, most of these companies try really hard. I’ve been struggling due to the impact of Covid, and an app like this WOULD have been a blessing.
I needed gas, and tried to convert my overdraft to cash (which I pay monthly for) and after my initial payment it has every time told me to contact support. They have been very unhelpful and will tell me nothing besides “we’re working to resolve the issue” while still charging me the fee. I would not suggest using Gerald.

I requested to Move Money from my this app Account to my account, it was not an Overdraft Advance. That was on Feb. 16th and it still has not been completed. I attempted to reach out through the chat. Ola requested I send screenshots of my dashboard and I complied and sent everything necessary and I have not received a response in 3 days. 3 DAYS?! I emailed support TWICE and I still haven’t received an answer, solution, NOTHING! I’ve been trying to cancel Gerald since then and I’ve had no freaking help.

Hello, I attempted to open an account with this app and have been unsuccessful. I entered my email address and set up my password. Then I receive a message of the following: Bases on the information you provided we are not able to open an account for you. Reason: We couldn’t verify your identity at this time.’ I only entered my email address and set up my password. Please explain why this occurring. I have an AOL account.

Seems pretty scammy. You get through submitting all of your info and then final step of submitting…and you get error after error, “try again.” IP address can’t be verified…”it’s not you it’s us” Different days, different times, same issue. Seems cool based on the description but nothing works. Hopefully none of my info has been retained since nothing has actually been submitted…

A complete fraud . They change your direct deposit without your consent. And you get no response and now our HR department is getting our security department involved. They say live chat bull. They get no response.
A update if you have been ripped off please contact Apple. They are not investigating Gerald and also my local police department is involved. These guys are fraud and refuse to address the issues

This is a real review , not automated or didn’t get paid to write this , Gerald is honestly easy to use plus it’s a great straight forward app

I signed up for Gerald because I’m in desperate need of some help at the moment. Got to the end and it said they couldn’t verify me so I can’t proceed. But they also won’t let me try again because they say I have an account or let me into my account to see what they can’t identify. None of the other cash advance apps have had this issue so it’s definitely this app.

They clam the money is deposited into your account but that’s not true I got the statement saying it entered my account but I didn’t it just shows up on my account transactions saying it was deposited but that’s a lie they say you should receive it in 1-3 days but I know got proof I didn’t receive it even after putting it the right bank info
By Kirrawill
Gerald forces you to move forward with overdraft loans and doesn’t give you a way to cancel the subscription or exit out of certain choices without reaching out to support. Navigating through Gerald needs serious work and upgrades. Support is terrible and does an awful job of responding to inquiries. Don’t waste your TIME or your MONEY

I’ve been trying to connect my account and plaid says success but the returning Gerald it says cannot connect bank account. I even tried a different account to see if it would work but it will not. It is very frustrating and I don’t understand why Gerald does not work.

I have been trying to set up an account for a month now. I was offered early access and still can’t make an account. It says my number is already in use or that I’m not a valid user. Attempts to get support to help have came back null.
By NikkiG33
I tried to apply and for some reason, Gerald couldn’t verify my identity. I’m trying to see if I can contact customer service, but there’s no contact info???
After I entered all my private information, Gerald could not verify me.
Who can I contact? Hello, anyone??
By Jeresoul
Signed up, added my bank account for overdraft protection. Got approved but I had to pay the 10 dollar subscription fee. Once I paid it , every time I went to cash out the advance Gerald kept freezing, not allowing me to cash out

So far,the app has worked well but not without a few issues with opening the account and accessing the overdraft wallet. Funds did appear in my bank as stated but I am hesitant about keeping the app for long term use.I will wait to see how the repayment process plays out.

The Gerald app has severe issues as an app. Be careful signing up as its glitches will prevent you from modifying your account or accessing your money. It may be that they are being audited and that the app won’t be around much longer. To save you some trouble here’s the skinny. You can email their customer service for help but that’s it. They will not reply, or rather, their reply will not be helpful. This is intentional (spoke to someone who worked in CS there). The address listen on the BBB website is fraudulent. The business at that address is called “1 Home Office.” If you call they will tell you that they used to forward mail to the Gerald people who were just using their address. They have recently stopped this because of what they’ve noticed as shady business practices and many many angry people who call and come in looking for them. So far what I can tell you is that they may or may not also go by the name Stable. Of the two founders, only one is listed as a customer contact. Mr. Ola Okeshola. He has a LinkedIn page so if you’re a premium member you can harass him or the other cofounder there. You may have more luck getting your money back that way but he will likely avoid you. The BBB website says they only service certain neighborhoods of NY so this may be the CS loophole that prevents them from answering but one of the people I spoke to on the phone who has dealt with them says they have moved to a new location somewhere on 34th so if you can find them there that’s probably your best bet. I’m sorry if they fucked you over, but until this company is shut down that’s going to continue to happen to other people and you will never get that money back. The men who run the company are likely trying to hide out long enough to turn their I’ll gotten gains into something more sustainable, but unless you want to fun their next startup I’d think carefully about doing business with anyone associated with Gerald Wallet (i.e. - Gerald Technologies). Do with that info what you will.
