Honestly loved of organized the old design was and how you had better controls of what you wanted to keep and do with it. This new update was a change in look which I saw was for an aesthetic change but at the price of usefulness. You can’t simplify the parts, can’t mix how loud they are anymore, can’t change the syncopation nor make it export without crashing over and over and when you finally get it to export something like your separated drum midi with multitrack stems in wav and midi, it doesn’t export the whole 11 files even when you try to put it on google drive or simply to save onto your device. This new update came at the cost of 90% of what I liked and used SONGEN for. It was useful and organized. Well put together and made sense with actual functioning things not just aesthetic. Can this please be fixed. I’m actually incredibly disappointed and I’ve been a customer with a premium subscription with them for almost a whole year. Almost uninstalled SONGEN because of this new update.

I understand that SONGEN works off of algorithms and I think SONGEN is really dope however when I think of algorithms I think of not to beat be in the same from two different people at two different times in the world maybe maybe not I guess algorithms are algorithms some of the beats are generated I Shazam them another words looked them up and found several different beats and artists wrapping on the same EXACT beat… I was really hoping more original algorithm…
I was going to give it four stars until that but now that I’m thinking that and I wish I could upload at least my own samples like at least one for each track for the one I want to use like the four tracks bass drum lead chord etc… and then to pay this subscription every month it just blew my mind to think that I had generated something that I thought would be Original..

I reaaaally hope you add some kind of “variation” feature that automatically creates 2-3 variations if a song. I have edited some songs to mKe new songs with adding swing, changing octaves, and especially the awesomeness of note repetition settings.

I don’t really use the chord progression often as its difficult to navigate and set up and sometimes it seems to jumble the notes I set when generating a new song. Realisitically my best tunes have came randomly, and with tweaking the note MIDI rather than the chords. What I would really love is some huge feature that can either create/breed/mutate a new song from using an existing song, or perhaps mixing songs together or even… generating new songs using old songs + additional genres.

The arrangements are wonderful and I have a library of custom setups that I may even use if I end up really getting into music creation. I hope for SONGEN to fuel professional music production.

SONGEN is on the same level as robots or smart homes in science fiction movies from the 50s or higher. Like having a tiny little composer in your pocket. I love that you always read the reviews and consider our ideas. I still can’t believe you guys really implemented the separate track genres when I mentioned it. So cool!!!! As far as genres, I love that you added Bossa-nova!!! Just some ideas for other genres: cinematic(James bond-type, movie score), Arabic, hyper pop, psychedelic rock, trip-hop, Acid jazz, vogue/runway music, R&B Pop, celestial (harps) just as an instrument if you added a harp I would just die and go to heaven!

First off I’ll just say that this is some incredible technology, I’m not quite sure what’s going on under the hood but I’m amazed. From the moment you open the Songenapp you’re immediately able to shuffle through a seemingly infinite supply of inspiring musical loops. Which as any producer/songwriter would tell you is indispensable. Within SONGEN there are just endless possibilities, whether you’re an amateur or a professional musician. Above all if you love making music than SONGEN is just plain fun!

My qualified review is now pretty much unqualified.
For someone like me who loves ‘painting with sounds' and thinks the Memphis Sound is a perfect fit with Krautrock's Motorik Beat but has no music theory education, AI melody and song structure generation is terrific.
this app's app devs have responded and fixed my MIDI file output issue with GarageBand within days, so thanks you guys.
I know many look down on GarageBand as amateur hour, but I am an amateur, and with the dozens of AUv3 friendly apps I have, my toolbox is full of fun.
(Hopefully soon you devs might be able to update to the ability for allowing this app to experiment and swap out individual melody and drum track files before outputting the 4 track MIDI files?)
SONGEN is very new and already very useful.
Give the subscription a month trial, it’s worth the money so far!

I like some features but not all. I love that I can change up chords the types and the Melody arrangement. SONGEN makes sense for songwriter as it gives them a starting point. I really don’t use SONGEN that often maybe not months between using it. I’m a producer and uses the Algorithm to see if I can get any ideas but lately haven’t got anything I like out of it. I would love if I paid a full price to own but not monthly for something I rarely use. I guest the Algorithm needs to get paid for all the work it does.

Loved everything about SONGEN before this last update seems you took away some of the editing capabilities the new look of SONGEN is great only if it function like prior to the update it would be perfect used to be able to set the count of the lead, chords, bass or drums 1,2,4,8,16 etc. please give this capability back thank you

could I be made possible to download older Versions of SONGEN ?

SONGEN has resparked my love for music and creativity. Just about everything is customizable with the press of a button, and it generating a beat foundation takes little to no effort. I will give it 5 stars for the program itself because the program is awesome, but I do wish it had a one time purchase price for use of SONGEN instead of it just being subscription based.

Simply put, this is the wildest tool I’ve came across. I produce daily. Tonight I was up until 3am trying to get a mix down but I was missing something. I plugged in the key I was playing in a BAM! Literally the groove I was missing. Y’all should up the price an make it where we can purchase to own. I wish I could rate this 1000 stars. Good job!

The EXPORT FEATURES superb! You had to be a producer to even think of this!

If i could make a feature suggestion It would be the ability to export midi files separately, sometimes i just want to export “just the bass” or “just the drums” alone As midi , Instead of a full song midi I would love SONGEN even more if that was a possible feature , Other than that SONGEN works great ! Totally Worth the subscription *

Really love SONGEN. Created a super sick drill beat that i used none of the original sounds for. Lots of people may be upset they cant take the easy way out, but its so much better to use it as a tool, rather than it doing everything for you. Ive given myself so many ideas, and even learned how to write and produce EDM with this apps help.

The this app app certainly inspires musical ideas in a limited sort of way - it’s no Piano Motifs, that’s for sure. The difference is that this app generates more “trendy-style” music, which is a cool thing.

I’m sure SONGEN will grow deeper in time, and if it wasn’t for the sad fact that it is a subscription app, I would keep it. However, as a musician on a limited budget, it would be financial suicide if I began subscribing to music apps; that makes no sense. I’d much rather pay a single price. Let me know if that happens; till then, bye-bye.

As the title states. I used all three free exports to find no stems or MIDI. I tried to bounce to NS2 and Cubasis 3. When I attempted a GarageBand export it wasn’t even on the list. I came here from iPad beatmaking and I see that his drums are in SONGEN . Obviously affiliated. Not that I take issue with it but he gave it such glowing reviews I assumed he wasn’t affiliated just giving me the scoop. Nevertheless, I think the concept is fun and the sub model while off putting isn’t horrible enough to drive me away. What has driven me away is functionality. It works as a self contained groove box but not as a reliable inspiration generator.

I refuse to subscribe for a month just to learn it a) doesn’t do what I want or b) does what I want so poorly I grow frustrated before being able to write with it.

I love the idea of an AI jamming partner but SONGEN needs more work.

Was really excited when I got started and made my first beat. Though that I finally found an app that would allow me to make endless beats without a catch, then I discovered the 8.99 a month subscription. Was upset at the 3 beat limit and the fact that you can't even customize your own beat without subscribing. If that would go away, then SONGEN would blow up WITHOUT question

But it deleted all my saves. I am glad there was an overhaul with more variations in the song. If you could scratch with the circular loop i will change it to 5 stars that would be perfect. It deleted my saves from the previous update though 😡 so maybe that too.

Is it no longer possible to combine different genres? That was one of the best features imo but I don’t see a way to do it in the new version.

Program is fantastic does what it does well. If the structure of payment could be done differently like charge per export also with option of monthly payment or even yearly payment. Right now for me $108 a year seems steep to me. Keep up the great work guys. Just wish it was more affordable for me.

I like how it goes a little in depth on different types of hip hop like wavy trap, Lofi, and boom bap. We need Trap Soul, chillout, New Orleans Bounce, Classic or New West Coast, Detroit Off-Beat, and more. And SONGEN needs to go more in-depth on the drums, like open hi hats, claps, crash cymbals, offset snares (trap) and percussion.

SONGEN is amazing, the beats are so diverse and I’ve never gotten the same one twice. It’s a perfect app. But y’all should add a hip hop or just straight rap genera. I hope to see some more instruments in the future, but rn it’s still amazing!
