Tax Payer Funded RIP-OFF

We the US Tax Payers fund NOAA with an Annual Budget of $6.9b dollars per year (source: Wikipedia) and what do they do? Put out this piece of garbage app and try to bilk those very same Tax Payers out of $5.99/week for a very basic Map App with a janky UI. NOAARadarWeatherForecast has nothing on the Radar feature built into The Weather Channel App I already have an annual “pro” subscription for, which at only $30/year is but a fraction of the cost A US TAX PAYER FUNDED ORGANIZATION is trying to bilk me out of. NOAARadarWeatherForecast is a disgrace and a disservice to American Tax Payers by taking the information they have paid for and putting it behind some exorbitantly priced paywall. I am no longer a fan of NOAA and I support any and all efforts to either disband them and/or gut the management and clean house. They have clearly lost their way and are not operating in the interests of the US Citizens who they have clearly forgotten that they work for

How does this have 4.3 stars?!?

3 day free trial? I can’t even see the radar 30 seconds after downloading because it’s blacked out with a message to watch an ad or pay for premium and clicking “watch ad” results in a message stating ads are not available at this time.
If this is your level of app building, there’s no way I’m paying a dime for it.
Honestly I was doubting I’d end up paying your asking price since I can subscribe to cable with a weather channel and local Channel radars (complete with mobile access) for not much more.
But Is NOAA not a government entity? Do our tax dollars not fund this? As a Floridian trying to see a potential hurricane headed my way, I am astonished to find this information is only accessible based on ability to pay. SMH.

If it was an airplane, it’d hit an iceberg and sink in the Atlantic

As one of my favorite weather apps appears to no longer be available, I thought I’d try NOAA Weather Radar.
To put it bluntly, NOAARadarWeatherForecast is a disaster.
It is my qualified professional opinion, that not one thought was given to the user.
While this maybe, technology, a really cool blending of open source and third party parts and pieces, it falls dramatically short of being useful.
If it were an airplane, it wouldn’t just not get off the ground, it wouldn’t be able to start its engine without first flushing a toilet, but only after paying a subscription fee to use the toilet. Does that analogy sound bizarre? Good, because it’s a perfect description for this disastrous application.

Awful

I downloaded NOAARadarWeatherForecast to see the radar and the weather for the week out. As soon as I opened NOAARadarWeatherForecast it was asking me to get premium for $5.99 it was ridiculous. You could only check the radar for 30 seconds before it blacking out and telling you that you were out of time and needed watch an add afterwards. The weather it's self was so inaccurate, I was told there was clear skies but where I am it's literally raining. It told me I could unlock this thing for free and nearly skipped every step by putting the words at the bottom and nearly scamming me to pay for premium once again. After 5 minutes NOAARadarWeatherForecast started glitching out and slowing my phone and everything. Don't download this.

Worst experience ever with an app...

I watched 5 ads in a row and wasn’t able to view more than 4 projected hours of a radar loop. I’ll pay for the use of an app if it’s worth it. And I’ll gladly pay by watching ads if it’s not up to quality to pay money for. But seriously, I couldn’t even see any bit of forecast! Every 5 seconds of radar I watched, it told me I had to pay or watch an ad. So I watched the 30sec ad, and tried to see the radar forecast again. 5 seconds later, another message saying I need to pay or watch an ad!!

I did this 5 times before I gave up. I currently pay for 3 other weather apps and would pay for this if my initial experience wasn’t total garbage.

Figure it out!

Have payments gone haywire? And this is not from NOAA!

I installed NOAARadarWeatherForecast a year ago thinking it was from NOAA and was somehow enrolled in the $2.99 a week plan. I didn't subscribe intentionally to that much per week. Worse, it recently has been charging me that amount multiple times a week. I’m currently figuring out how many hundreds of dollars I spent on an app I never used. I’m surprised how Apple allowed the NOAA name to be in the title when it is from a private company. That seems intentionally misleading along with the ease by which you can accidentally subscribe to such a frequent recurring subscription. NOAARadarWeatherForecast should be renamed and probably removed from NOAARadarWeatherForecast Store due to misleading practices.

NOAA Weather Radar is Unusable & Unscrupulous‼️

I can NOT believe that NOAA issued NOAARadarWeatherForecast‼️ One can’t access NOAARadarWeatherForecast, because the ad windows keep interfering with access to any functioning features‼️ Worse yet, the ad campaign mounted by the developers, is unscrupulously relentless‼️ These ads are disguised as realistic weather-alerts, within other legitimate weather apps, or as feature bars; which lure one to check for the warning - only to find their crummy ad‼️ This is a dangerous practice that puts people, who are experiencing extreme-weather conditions, at risk; by interfering with their access to legitimate weather-information‼️
NO APP AD SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO MIMIC EMERGENCY ALERTS🚨🚨🚨‼️‼️‼️

Cash grab.

Isn’t NOAA a federal asset? Why all the commercials, premiums, and redirects? I downloaded this because we had a very dangerous weather situation and it’s the same clickbait Bravo Sierra that the internet has become everywhere. I needed up to date information but you have to upgrade to premium…. “Sorry Billy, you needed 100 tickets to live.” Before you egress from my lawn, I want you to know that completely monetizing everything had absolutely ruined the entire internet. I better she’ll out the three bucks if I want warned that the 2 mile high wall of death off the Mummy is about to swallow my crappy apartment….

DO NOT GET THIS APP

I was needing to find a radar to see 23 hours ahead because I was scared I was going to get stranded out in eastern Montana. So, I decided to get NOAARadarWeatherForecast to see the radar. As soon as I opened NOAARadarWeatherForecast , I got three different requests to go premium. I clicked the tiny x in the corner and a payment option popped up. Already regretting getting this, I looked at the radar. Any five seconds after using it, it said “oops, you have used all your radar for the day.” Buy premium to see 24 hours ahead. After that I said “screw NOAARadarWeatherForecast” and deleted it. If there was a zero star option I would click it. But don’t get NOAARadarWeatherForecast.

What’s to like?

My local TV station has a free weather app that I’ve used for a few years now.. I loved it. The radar image was quick to load. Easy to read. Had layers you could turn on and off (clouds, Doppler, lightning, hail…)
They’re about to stop supporting it, and referring me to the NOAA app. I was disappointed, like others, that it was a paid service. NOAA is slow to load the maps aren’t nearly as easy to read. And if you want it to do half the stuff my other app did, you have to pay $6/week.
I guess I’ll stick with my old app until it goes dark.

Dodged This Bullet!

Even though I clicked the button “Get” in the Apple store, I started reading way too many bad reviews & thought I’d still at least check it out. I went through all the “continue” buttons, but then saw that the $5.99 was a weekly fee not a monthly! That’s a bit pricey if you ask me. So I did NOT double click on the side button of my iPhone. I double checked in my settings > subscriptions & I dodged this bullet & it’s not there!

I pay $9.99 a “month” for Apple Music ( & not weekly ), & get just about everything under the sun, but this is just a weather app & Idk about the rest of you, but I’m not paying almost $24 a month for a weather app. It’s just not worth it to me when there’s free ones & some are really good!

I expected more from FOX.
With inflation as bad as it is & you guys want to price gouge customers like this?
No Thanks & Shame On FOX!

Bait and switch

Absolutely hate how your app shows free in Apple store and then I get half way through the sign up and I’m forced to take the initial free and then must sign up for the $2.99 a week charge. The screen doesn’t allow a person an out, your forced to buy. So I immediately go to cancel NOAARadarWeatherForecast and I confirm to cancel and I’m not sure the cancelation went through or is complete. This is a complete bait and switch. I make it a practice not to give money to companies that are not forth coming. You seriously need to look into this and change your shady practices.

What the ???

It’s hard for me to believe that I downloaded the right app. All I get is a transparent covering on my screen over the radar asking me if I want to upgrade or watch the ad. I don’t have a problem with watching the yard.

So I tap “watch ad.” I get a 60 second ad for a game. When the 60 seconds is done, the only option is to download the game. There is no other way to get out of that screen other than exiting NOAARadarWeatherForecast . I’ve done it three times and it always the same. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with a downloaded app.

Find another app

I’ve had NOAARadarWeatherForecast installed for about three minutes. I’ve been prompted five times to upgrade subscription, and I am on the screen where I can’t see anything unless I agree to watch a “free ad”. I’m pretty sure this is against Apple‘s terms of service as it would not be fair to any advertiser to force-feed their ads to customers. In my opinion any app should gain subscribers based on its utility, not by forcing A subscribe button onto the screen every 30 seconds. Save your time and use a different app

Free version is awful!

The $2.99 per week version may be better, but the “free” version is awful.
You can’t look at the map but a moment before the “Buy the premium version” add pops up & blocks the screen. It requires you to watch an add, which usually malfunctions, before you can view the map again.
If you try to add another city or change the settings, the “ buy the premium version “ add blocks you again.
There’s a lot of better “free” weather services available!!!

Lack of information

When you were Underground WX,people could look back and check past WX forecasts. There was helpful information & I have been trying to find past forecasts & to no avail I still can’t find it.
Would you guys bring back that part of your applications?

By

Tries too hard to make me accept notifications and upgrades

When you open NOAARadarWeatherForecast it seems like you have no choice but to accept push notifications and upgrades. You have to continue like you’re going to accept them and then cancel it later. So for that alone it’s two out of five stars.
No iPad app so I have this little tiny screen that is phone size showing the radar. That’s strike two

Paywall for everything

The NOAA weather data is provided free by the government. That we as tax-paying citizens cannot get an app to share that information with us in a simple user interface is beyond me. NOAARadarWeatherForecast charges for almost any relevant weather information. You cannot even zoom into the map without paying for premium. Again this information is free to get, why are am I being asked to pay so much for free information?

By

Radar only with crippled app

3.99 per week? I didn’t even bother with trial. That’s over 200 dollars a year. CRAZY pricing over something that comes free in most apps without subscriptions. You can’t pinch zoom without subscription? Seriously, basic iOS operation restricted? Save your time and money.

My prior review still stands. I thought maybe app owner came to their senses. Weather Bug, Weather Mate, Storm shield far superior on their free products than what NOAARadarWeatherForecast offer and these apps are free (ad supported) to use.

Smells like a scam.

I searched on “weather port townsend” and this apparently NOAA app surfaces. Click. Off to NOAARadarWeatherForecast Store. Install. I assume it’s a free app since there is no mention of fee.
Open. Immediately all I can see is $5.99/week after three day free trial. All I could see were two options:
1. Accept the offer, or
2. Continue with purchases
What purchases??
Over $300/year!!
Preposterous.
I immediately deleted NOAARadarWeatherForecast . Upon returning to NOAARadarWeatherForecast Store this apparently NOAA app is there waiting. It shows the little cloud with down arrow suggesting that it’s still installed waiting to be reactivated with a click. To install it I agreed to payment. That occurs for free apps so I was not concerned.
But this attempt to get users to agree to over $300/year is, in my opinion, a scam.
I can’t tell if I’m being billed after deleting NOAARadarWeatherForecast .
