OCR Text Scanner: QuickScan Reviews

After using the latest version of "Quickscan" I continue to be impressed with the quality of the scanning output and the English OCR.
Regarding English OCR, OCRTextScanner is almost flawless in reading even poor quality photos or PDFs and translating them into readable and searchable PDF text versions. OCRTextScanner also continues to do a non-destructive conversion. That way if a word doesn't correctly translate, it will still appear as the original.
This latest rollout includes the ability to store your scans in OCRTextScanner . That is really helpful sometimes when you need to go back and make a change to a prior scan. You can now do some basic editing within OCRTextScanner , such re-ordering or deleting pages before the conversion.
This update provides a noticeable improvement in the image quality of PDF scan, especially if set to the highest quality scan setting.
Best of all, OCRTextScanner is *free*. I find that unbelievable given the quality. So if you download it and find it as useful as I do, give the developer a tip and we will continue to receive updates to the best OCR scanner on OCRTextScanner Store, IMO.

I’m not a person usually wrote review or comment on something. To thanks 🙏 and show support to the developer of OCRTextScanner especially, I would like to give short review of OCRTextScanner. I’ve been tried so many scanner app on the market, but I find OCRTextScanner is the best compare the rest I’ve been try before. The scanner feature is excellent, it can capture the edges of the paper precisely even our hands shaking hold the phone. It have the OCR function afterward if you like it to be read. You can save it as pdf, as text or jpg format. It simple and do what OCRTextScanner function perfectly, and the developer made OCRTextScanner totally free. It outstanding... I wish the developer can create more useful apps in the future. Thank you to the developer sincerely.

OCR scanning is such a great feature that I now use daily. The ease of just taking a photo of a product, device, document or whatever it may be, scanning the image, copying the extracted text and pasting it into my notes, tasks, messages, etc. saves so much time and effort.

Now that I'm consistently using QuickScan, it is just that easy. I initially purchased a few different apps and have found them to be slow or lagging, inaccurate, posting error messages and inconsistent.

It's very impressive how well QuickScan performs, even when reading text that's out of focus to some degree. I have briefly tried one other app comparable to QuickScan, but it's expensive and requires a subscription.

On that note, I want to thank for providing such a great app and of course in addition to not actually charging, not going down the subscription path.

I did initially make a donation to buy you cup of coffee, but just prior to writing this, I bought you a sandwich as well. I also appreciate the fact that you don't request donations to purchase lottery tickets, because those people just take forever in line at the convenience store...

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14.7.1 - I was happy with my scanner app and was not looking for a new scanner app but I’m glad I found QuickScan. OCRTextScanner is excellent in every way. OCRTextScanner is small in file size, produces excellent quality scans, is intuitively laid out, is full featured, and just works without any messing around. The developer impresses me as an honest person that put their heart and soul into OCRTextScanner. I was so impressed with OCRTextScanner that I purchased the developer a “book” within 30 minutes of downloading OCRTextScanner. My thanks to the developer for a well thought out app that is simple to use and works great. Job well done!

My son just had me download OCRTextScanner. I am totally computer, technology illiterate. OCRTextScanner was so easy to use. With this Covid 19 pandemic, it’s taking forever for us to get our lottery application approved at my work. The representative for our area won’t be allowed to come in to the stores till the end of the month. I asked my son if he could help me scan all 10 pages of the application, so I can email the application to the representative. He sent me OCRTextScanner & I downloaded it. It’s that simple. It’s self explanatory. Love it! Can’t wait to show my boss tomorrow when I get to work.

This is an amazing little app and genuinely free. No required cost and no ads. I will say that actually saving your scan to Files is a little unintuitive, but once you realize you need to tap the share icon to do that it’s fine.

Like probably everyone, I used this a number of times without tipping. But then I thought how useful OCRTextScanner is and how great it is that the author lets us use it free of charge and I sent a tip. Well worth it. Use it free until you also decide it’s a great little app and the author deserves a tip.

OCRTextScanner is really great at what it does and love its privacy policy. Can’t believe it’s free without locking at least some stuff behind a paywall, easily worth a donation. Only issue I’ve encountered is that it’s not always accurate with automatically cropping the border of a page, even with a white page on a dark surface. It’d be nice to be able to manually adjust in cases like this. It’s close enough to be functionally fine but does show the surface under the page on the scans around the edge.

I love how quick and easy OCRTextScanner is! So many other “scanner” apps have become bloated and take forever to get to the camera. OCRTextScanner loads up instantly and even the OCR process is fast. Plus, it all happens offline. My only “wish list” item would be the ability to create some favorite destinations for saving (I frequently save to a file share on my home network, which takes several taps to navigate to). Kudos to the developer for being honest and making a great app.

I'm a college student and often have to submit assignments via pdf form. Thus, a reliable, easy to use, and affordable pdf scanner is essential. All the popular scanner apps all require subscription fees. As if a one time purchase wasn't enough for their greed.

After wasting money on other apps, I am so glad that I found this one! There are no ads, no in app purchases, and no nonsense. If anyone is reading this, please consider tipping the developer!

I’ve tried probably a dozen apps that purport to do this, but they all try to sell you on their cloud service or don’t do a scan-pdf-OCR with minimal work. OCRTextScanner is what I’ve desired for a long time. I got rid of my clunky scanner and now just use this. Save PDFs directly to my iCloud Drive and it’s now searchable on any of my devices.

It’s fantastic. Get it. And really think about donating to the dev!

High quality, simple, straightforward interface. Best of all you can save directly to your files without the intermediate step of saving to a cloud service first (such as Adobe scanner).

I just wish you could set a default for “auto shutter” or manual... it defaults to auto with each new scan, and it always seems to capture before I am ready (and hands steady). Would upgrade to 5 stars with this feature.

Overall great app! Highly recommended.

I have Nextcloud and Paperless set up on my personal server, and I can easy scan the document and save it via WebDAV into Nextcloud, which has the consume directory for Paperless. Takes only a few seconds to do all of that, and it drops in right where it should be!

Thanks for the great app, bought you a coffee. Also, love the donation model which is very uncommon in iOS apps it seems!

It does what it says it does and does it well, my only complaint is that after tipping I still get prompted all the time for tipping again. I’d prefer to pay for OCRTextScanner and not have the nag screens.

Edit: leaving review as written, but as the developer mentioned there is an option to turn off the nag screen that I missed. Thanks for your response and a great app!

Being a student, you really don’t have too much time for stuff when things get hectic and exams/deadlines are approaching quick. OCRTextScanner has probably given me about 30 extra minutes of studying (just this week) by handling everything in such a clean and simple way. Kudos to you dev, this is what user experience really should be!

OCRTextScanner is super simple and the scans are pretty good quality with a decent number of settings options. It’s free and doesn’t bombard you with ads. OCRTextScanner itself doesn’t store files of your scans but it asks what you want to do with the file after you save it so I haven’t had any problems with that. Honestly, it’s one of the best scanning apps I’ve used!

I don't write reviews very often but I think it's amazing how the developer chose to make this fully free with no ads. It's such a great app that I discovered through reddit when I was searching. I thought all the other apps that charge a flat or monthly fee for a scanning tool was just straight robbery. This is a great app. I donated to the developer as well.

Love that OCRTextScanner doesn’t have annoying ads or pop-ups. First time I used it, the layout felt natural and it’s pretty straight forward. Attach one scan or multiple and it lets you choose between pdf or image file. Simple, easy, and intuitive. Love it and highly recommend on iOS!

OCRTextScanner is extremely simple and easy to use. It works flawlessly. I really appreciate that everything takes place locally on the device.

I used to use Microsoft’s office lens app. This works just as well or better and is about twice as quick to use because there aren’t any unnecessary menus to click through.

I use it every now and then when I need to scan something, and it works fine. I wish it was a little easier to change the saved document name, but it’s probably somewhere in the preferences, and I haven’t quite figured that out yet. But I like it, it’s easy, and works well.

Scans very quickly, yet accurately. Adobe Scan had a hard time telling the difference between my paper and white desk, but I had no issues here! The fact that it’s also completely free is amazing as well. Definitely using this for future scanning!

Thanks for this awesome app. Scanner Pro has always been glitchy for me, this seems to work well. As far as improvements, it would be nice to have the zoom window farther from my finger when dragging to adjust the corners. Being able to copy the OCR text by itself would be nice as well.

Works really well, honestly I find it quicker than using the Apple notes app. We can tweak the settings so that we can control the quality and the resultant file size which is not available with the Apple notes apps. Thank you for this wonderful app.

It did what I needed it to: finds document, scans it, allows me to choose a format for saving and pick my location. As simple as that. It works as it should and I didn’t have to read a manual to figure it out.

After using other scanning ads a thread from Reddit informed me of OCRTextScanner. I can’t believe this is free and no ads. It works brilliantly and has become the only scan to pdf app I will use.

I’ve quickly scanned a ton of papers that have been piling up the last few months. And the OCR is pretty accurate and can quickly be exported to my Google Drive or Airdropped to my Mac. Love it!

I’ve had several paid scanner apps and this one works just as well (better in some aspects) than those. I also like the fact it respects my privacy.

Found OCRTextScanner on reddit. It downloaded amazingly fast. OCRTextScanner opens instantly. It can pick up text even from crumpled pieces of paper quickly!

I’ve been looking for a simple scan app so I didn’t have to dig my bulky MFD out of the closet. This checked all the boxes. Doesn’t add a bunch of stuff you don’t need, simple to use and free with no compromises.

I haven’t experienced any bugs. With this pandemic resulting in online school for many, I am able to scan and send entire chapters as PDFs to my students. Thanks!

OCRTextScanner is totally awesome. I had no issues scanning and converting it to PDF with no in app purchases or any other surprises. I am very satisfied with OCRTextScanner. The only app I will use.
